King Neptune Fish Bar in Windsor and Maidenhead

Was looking for somewhere to feed the family at a reasonable price after a day out in Windsor and this fish and chip shop was perfect 👌 Super clean with a good choice of dinner items and the kids loved the novelty of having a battered mars bar! The staff were so friendly and helpful and the potion sizes were really generous …will definitely go back next time we visit Windsor ….

Great fish and chips from friendly couple who work tirelessly long hours. Always friendly so no idea what other reviews are going about. They tend to cook fish freshly to order- and I’d rather wait 5 minutes to get quality piping hot cod with my chips. The prices are not super cheap but this is one takeaway meal that cost inflation has particularly hit.

Tatesless food rude manager wouldn’t recommend going again I was told it wasn’t the best place and they were right just plain rude

Just wanted to share! Been into King Neptune - Fish & Chips! Windsor Decided to firstly give me old chips and then when I asked for new chips - given the smallest portion of small chips! Never again! 😤 — and added to this the rudeness of the guy serving! To another me when I said it was a small portion he purposely gave the guy behind me a free portion whilst he was waiting to wind me up! Seriously never again!

I used to work at East Berkshire College and because of King Neptune’s proximity, I always frequented there for a bite to eat due to its popularity and how good the food was. I left the college in 2016 and after six years, I am still amazed as to how good the food still is and how welcoming the place is as much as I remembered it years ago. I am currently staying in Windsor for a short break and I revisited King Neptune last night. Not only was I greeted warmly upon entry into the premises, I also ordered a battered sausage and chip and a double cheese burger and chip and the food is still as delicious as it was in 2016! Thank you so very much and I will without a shadow of doubt repeat my custom every time I come to visit Windsor!

The food was absolutely full of grease, the oil coming out of the wrap paper. Plus I paid for mashed peas and they didn’t put on my bag, just realised after being at home and didn’t bother to go back. It was absolutely empty, you can’t even say that was because they were busy. I will never go back there

Visited today, really friendly welcome and great customer service, food cooked fresh for us and given a few chips to keep us going while ours were being cooked. Definitely visit again when in the area.

The team at King Neptune are so warm and welcoming! I didn’t go in often but when I entered I was always greeted by name with a big smile. They take a lot of pride making sure they’re offering you the best fish and chips possible - I’ve seen them remake someone’s order free of charge because the individual had left the shop for so long their order was no longer up to snuff. Amazing place!

Last night we had a craving for a good ole chippy tea and we were all so impressed it brought me to leave this review. Even the battered sausages were highly rated. I've never had so much fish in a battered chip shop dinner before!! Normally it's all batter n no fish. Delicious!

Called in tonight after visiting Legoland - friendly service from the lady servicing and the best fish and chips I’ve ever had ! Hubby was impressed with his pie and chips and daughter also loved her fish and chips. No kids meals but we shared. Excellent !

Been coming here for 20 years, hoping each time they will have a new owner. The chips are not bad but are greasy. I don't mind greasy chips that much but everything else (in batter) is also REALLY greasy. The fish looks OK until you turn it over and see the grease which has gravitated to the bottom. My biggest complaint though is the fish. I like cod, and what they serve (in my opinion) is (100%) not cod. I have tried haddock as an alternative once or twice and received what the substitute cod for. I'll try again in another year or two, hoping they have new owners.

Regular customer at this chippy the quality of the chips are brilliant and really good value. Particularly there lunch special of chips, sausage and a drink. Having tried pretty much all chippys in Windsor this one stands out by miles and constantly delivers good quality food. Highly recommended.

Looked for this place when visiting windsor. Walk was quite far from the castle but was worth it. Had to wait few minutes for fish but tasted great. Guy that served was very friendly.

This is a great little take away serving great fish and chips. Portions are very large so ask before hand. Fish is freshly cook each time. Also serves great pies and burger, the ribs are also good value.

Freshly cooked fish was superb and "proper" chips! Be warned if you order a "large" order of chips.....It's so big you could feed a family of 4! The owner is very friendly and was laughing and joking with customers! One I'll be visiting again!

This is our local chippy. Every time we've been the food has been great. It's not dripping with fat, its very tasty and always nice and hot when we get the food home. Traditional fish and chips as you like them. Friendly staff too!!
