King George V in Redbridge

We had a fantastic roast dinner at the King George for only £9 each. We were served by Harry and were really impressed with his customer service skills which are five star: he went out of his way to accommodate our Requests and was warm and gracious throughout. The atmosphere in the pub was lovely: lots of laughter, really busy: we will definitely be going back!

I went here to watch the football, tried to order some bar food at half time, and was told there is a 45-minute wait. I left to watch the 2nd half somewhere else.

Good food, helpful barman, good wines. Shall return soon. Returned for post-dosa drinks. Super cheap spirits. Keep this jem of a pub alive and come support them.

A good quality pub with real good beers and friendly staff. I love the vibes on karaoke night and save my tears for another day.

Reserved a place for 11 people from a retired group. We had great time for a second time . The staff and management are a pleasure to deal with Great food and service

Not a bad place, but not brilliant. I ordered food which quickly arrived. But I was abandoned for over 30 minutes after I had finished before I received an ice-cream cake dessert which was very stale. The pub was quiet, so no excuse. Staff were friendly and prices were reasonable. I would go again.

A lovely afternoon with yummy food, friendly staff and a great welcome for first timers. Sadly Spurs lost but apart from that we enjoyed great food and customer service. Staff on duty were Raluca, Jayne, Chrystal and Aiden, also Chef Stewart (lovely mushroom pie and roast). Prices very reasonable too. Thank you. We'll be back !

Great place been coming here for years. Staff are very helpful and on par. The new regeneration and facelift of the pub is great and very welcoming. Food is great and a service with a smile, keep up the good work as this is my 2nd home 🤣🤣🤣

KING GEORGE V Ilford, UK King George V (1865-1936) was the King of the United Kingdom and Emperor of India from 1910 until his death. He was the second son of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, and was born in London in 1865. He served in the Royal Navy until 1892, when he became heir to the throne after the death of his older brother, Prince Albert Victor. In 1893, he married Princess Victoria Mary (May) of Teck, and they had two sons, King Edward VIII and King George VI.

It's ok. Good service. Good selection. Has a car park. But there were some weird people hanging around in the car park. Cars pulling in and meeting people then leaving within a minute. Doesn't take a genius to work out what's going on. Update 25/11/2022 They didn't really have a lot of the popular drinks available. The bar staff got the drinks wrong. Gave me something else instead of Bacardi White Rum. The toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a while. There was piss all over the floor. The 1 actual toilet they did have, had no working light and no toilet paper. I only came here because my friend lives within walking distance of the venue. Personally, I would not recommend the pub. Of my Star rating, it dropped from 4 stars to 2 stars after today's visit Update 05/09/2023 The bar has had a makeover and looks really nice. The outside beer garden looks really nice too. I will be increasing my 2 star rating to a 4 star today. The toilets were very clean every time I went in today. Loved it. You will get a 5 star depending on on the wait time for service. For now it's a 4 star.

have been coming here for over 20 years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere thanks to staff- massive improvement inside since the refurbishment . being a Camra member, I have been around many pubs and find this the best for the environment and service.

Fabulous night. Wasn't sure what to expect to be honest as haven't visited before but we walked past last week and saw a quiz night advertised so thought we'd give it a try and we had the best night, came with my family , 5 of us for the quiz and we had a great time. Harry is amazing and made the night for us. I really hope this quiz gets the popularity it deserves. Food was decent, The atmosphere was really great everyone was so friendly including the other patrons. We will definitely be back and recommend anyone local to give it a try and apparently there is bingo starting there soon which im sure will also be brilliant.

Went for a dinner with my 6 kids and the grandkids also the other night great pricing Harry is the best person he has a heart of gold overall a top tier lad.

Good food at a reasonable price. Drinks not expensive, with a great atmosphere. Live sport available on with entertainment most nights. Check boards outside for itinerary. Be aware, parking is controlled and not by the pub. Make sure you enter your reg number if you park in the car park. The tablet is on the bar, on the left as you come in from the rear entrance.

Used to go in this pub years ago. Was run down and basically a dive. Just walked past it ever since. We live on the doorstep virtually. Saw it had been refurbed last year but assumed it was a wolf in sheeps clothing. Went in today with a friend after she had read good reviews. Was totally amazed. What a lovely clean place. Great ambience and decor. Fantastic staff, very courteous and nice. The toilets were immaculate. Even the carpet looked brand new. Great looking menu. Food was great. It actually came to the table exactly how it looked on the menu. The pub is totally out of place for Gants Hill. Feels like a countryside pub. Look forward to going back for Sunday roast. Great deals on the menu. Can't fault it so far. Hygiene in every aspect was spot on. 5 star all day long for a pub. 🙂

We just celebrated my son's 18th Bday here. We been living in this neighbourhood for over a decade and we never visited the pub as it had a bad reputation but since new management took over and the pub been refurbished it looks truly amazing. Great food menu. Great affordable variety of drinks. The service is impeccable and very friendly staff. My husband is a wheelchair user, the pub has wheelchair access but you got to put the foldable ramp down yourself what didn't bother us as we do that daily at home anyway. Overall a 5* pub very clean and tidy... And they do karaoke on Thursdays aswell. A place I highly recommend.

Good local pub. Excellent prices and a friendly crowd. Good variety of food but can be a bit hit and miss re cooking quality. Probably steer away from any deep fried chicken (overcooked and dry) and stick to pub classics. Good venue for watching sport.

Lovely pub, nice food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, in the top 3 for the filthiest toilets I've had to endure.

Lunch was lovely, however we ordered dessert and waited well over an hour. Went up to the bar to ask for an update to which the barmaid literally laughed in my face and referred me to another member of staff. The other guy was very apologetic unlike the rude woman and offered a refund, turns out they hadn't even started making (microwaving) the dessert yet. I acknowledge it was a Sunday lunch time and busier than their other days but they are so understaffed, I should've realised this after I waited 10 minutes to order a drink from the bar. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Went here to watch football and catch up with family. This is a local pub for some of my family and have to say it is a fabulous pub. Lovely food & drinks, and really nice atmosphere. Loved taking part in the quiz. Wish it was nearer, would definitely make it my, go to pub 👍🏻

Wonderful and clean place to have your favourite dishes. Very clean and the place accepts cute dogs to. Brilliant!

Had the most amazing night last night at my local KGV. Went with family 6 of us, for a catch up meal and drink. The food, drink and service were all EXCELLENT, could not fault it was really amazing. They’ve done an amazing job on the refurb, one of the decent places in Ilford left now where it’s got friendly staff and has a nice atmosphere. Grabbed a nice little lunch with the better half and will Definately go again. PS this place has Become our regular for lunches 😍

We had a lively lunch and afternoon in the KGV. Good pub grub at reasonable prices. The wine was good and not expensive. Nice people and hood atmosphere. Just what you meed for a good afternoon with a hood friend.

Love the refurbishment! I was really looking forward to having one of the vegan options from the menu. One by one I requested each vegan meal and one by one the very nice member of staff apologised for not having that meal in stock. In the end I asked if there were any vegan options in stock. Sadly no! I suggested oven baked chips as a last resort! Thankfully the very nice staff could oblige. To be fair, it was explained to me that their freezer broke down a few days ago and they were expecting a fresh delivery soon. This my local pub and it’s a great place and dog friendly. But, please could you ensure there are vegan meals available. I’m coming back soon to check!

The food was very good & the prices were actually ok considering the present challenges pubs are facing. I will certainly be coming back again. Friendly staff and definitely Dog Friendly Better experience - looking forward to more visits with pet . Horrendous experience-recent visit to another pub locally . No dogs permitted sitting outdoors - we were not aware of it ! Staff was discourteous & verbally aggressive towards us Literally throwing out breakfast on table “ eat up & go !

Has been redecorated finally! Looks great now, and the outside area is big and spacious. The food is really good and lots to choose from. Staff are really friendly as well are the customers. Nice local pub worth visiting.

Nice renovated pub. Food menu was rather limited for a Saturday and many items were missing including fish and chips on the day . Staff were also not in tune with the menu

The pub has a fresh new ambience, we had a birthday meal here a few days ago and all our food was hot and came out at the same time. Compliments to the chef and waitress. Big screen TV and lots of covered outside seating - parking too.

I tried to find a fault but couldn’t find one We had Fish & Chips and it was cooked really well The pub has a very nice atmosphere with very caring staff We will be back I suppose if I was being picky it would be to be greeted with a “Hello and Welcome to our pub” or something like that as they were not busy .But that is purely subjective So Well done King George V long may you reign

A really friendly and nice environment, newly decorated. A very attentive landlord with an excellent team of staff. We visited at a Sunday lunchtime and had a lovely meal. Food was excellent and tasty, including a wonderful turkey Sunday roast. Football was on the screens with a mixture of groups of people and families, but environment remained friendly and inviting, creating a great atmosphere. A really nice visit!

just vistied the pub with my wife ..just had refurbishment..looks really good ..downside the food was absolutely awful to the extent me and my wife hardly touched it..i had turkey roast the meat and gravy was disgusting loads of turkey but had a weird taste. the Yorkshire pudding was as tough as anything coukd hardly cut through it with the knife mash was awful .my wife had corn beef pie she said pie wasnt all that and didnt touch the mash or gravey either i totally understand its just pub food not expect fne dining but this was something else...also you have to sign in your reg at the bar but for some reason the bar staff think its ok for two blokes to sit right in front of the machine .i said excuse me the guy just lent back im leaning over him trying to put my reg in ..they obviously fount it funny that i had to lean over to do this..i understand thats not the pubs fault but could cause lot problems..i really didnt want to give the pub a bad review but in all honesty its the worse food we have ever had as it looked really nice on the website..hopefully this is just teething problems as the pub has just reopened ..maybe there was a problem with the chef who knows but we wouldn't eat in there again

Lovely local pub, really cheap plentiful food, people talking and comfortable - real joy!

Some food is not so great unfortunately, atmosphere is lively but mostly with regulars incase you were looking for more of a bar setting, drinks are fairly priced and served by lovely staff.

The fish and chips are the best in England!

It's okay very busy on a Sunday

Now it’s a long time since my first visit. I lived in Shere Road next to the pub and my father invited me for a drink on the morning of my wedding, 06/08/77. This visit, although for a much sadder reason was very comforting. The bar is well kept and the range of drinks available is first class. The licensee is more than friendly and could not do enough for us. Bravo, well done, we are in your debt sir and we will be back when in the south again. Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic pre Christmas dinner here with family. Excellent service and value for money. Food was superb turkey dinner with all the trimming was delish. Came in for for a few games over the world cup, great venue to watch with new big screens, great vibe and banter.

Proper local pub, very few of these left especially in London. No frills or bs, good cheap beer and food and lovely staff.

Had a great meal with family at KGV a farewell lunch for my 91 year old Mam prior to her holiday. Mam had a great meal off the seniors menu excellent value and the chicken diane was superb great addition to the menu. The rest of us tried the new pies on the menu The cheese onion and potato pie is fantastic a real hit. The corned beef also great. Fantastic food good portions and great value. Staff great and thanks to Aidan for cooking a great meal Thanks till next time
