Afternoon Tea- "Chai by the Shore" I was a little apprehensive at the idea of an Afternoon Tea with an ‘indian accent’ to treat my niece, visiting me from Bordeaux. But ‘Chai by the Shore’ was a most delightful experience. The Kinaara room was light an airy with impressive river views. The service was attentive and professional ,but not over formal or intimidating. The food was delicate and beautifully presented. All in all it was a most unusual enjoyable afternoon and a treat, having travelled to the O2/Intercontinental by Thames clipper boat. I will be repeating the experience in the summer with another appreciative French visitor.

Habíamos reservado una mesa desde hace mucho tiempo para el té de la tarde y llegamos 15 minutos tarde debido al tráfico. Nos sentamos rápidamente, pero nuestro camarero nos preguntó si queríamos agua y después de servir el agua nos dejó durante más de media hora sin traernos nada de comida. El té llegó y terminamos el té antes de que se sirviera nuestra comida. Tampoco nos preguntaron si queríamos más té. Tampoco nos sirvió el té ni explicó ninguna selección de tés. Una vez que la comida llegó no nos preguntaron si queríamos algo más de comida salada. Al solicitar una porción de un sándwich extra nos dijeron que lo siento no. ¡Habría pagado felizmente por ello ya que no estaba allí para una comida gratis! ¡Los bollos eran uno del tamaño de una moneda de dos libras! Honestamente disgustado con la capacitación de servicio cero del personal. También deberíamos haber sido informados de los cargos de aparcamiento y al preguntar abajo a la recepción del hotel nos dijeron que solo primeros 90 minutos son £ 9 y después de eso es £ 23 para aparcar. ¡Seguro que si no hubiéramos esperado a nuestro té de la tarde nos habríamos ahorrado los cargos extorsivos! ¡¡No está contento con el servicio ni con la experiencia en un regalo del Día de la Madre!!

I celebrated my birthday here last night, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening special. They were attentive, warm, and truly cared about every detail. The food was absolutely incredible, and the breathtaking views of the River Thames made it even more magical. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Thank you to the wonderful team for making my birthday so unforgettable!

Disappointed Unfortunately the 3 course dinner was disappointing. Despite booking for an anniversary dinner, this wasn’t addressed. On arrival, our jackets weren’t offered to be taken and the staff weren’t very attentive. The 3 course virgin experience menu was rather limited to 3 choices per course. The food was presented well however the flavours and taste fell short. The dessert was probably the best dish. The ambience and view was lovely but the restaurant seemed to have an awkward feel. Wouldn’t recommend or return.

Received a very warm welcome, staff are attentive and polite. Menu is very original and everything was well made and tasty. Views over the river are great. Used a Virgin experience voucher for the second time and was not disappointed, well worth the money. Also received a plate of sweet treats for our anniversary, thank you.

*AVOID* mediocre food and extremely slow service. First of all, the booking experience was like pulling teeth. Trying to get hold of the restaurant manager was painful and stressful and took almost a week. We originally were told that for a party of 10 we would have to prepay. It was frustrating to find out that we didn’t actually have to prepay as there was less than 10 adults ( which I had written in a number of emails). Coming on to the actual experience. Firstly, we were previously told that we could order a number of items for the children off a separate menu. However, on the day we were advised that only nuggets and chips were available which is extremely limiting. Secondly, it took over 45 minutes from when we were seated to being served any food. This astounds me as they were aware of our arrival and it is a set menu! Our savoury food then arrived and to our disappointment our tea did not. We had to chase a number of times. It was not until after our savoury food was finished did our tea actually arrive! *WARNING* They place their spoons in a ridiculous place in the handle of the cup. A number of us spilt our tea because of it. When I mentioned to staff they said it happens to a lot of people. Why not change it?! We then ordered juices for our children which took an exceptionally long time. We chased over 3 times, one of the children in particular was very distressed which made our experience even less enjoyable. The service was painfully slow and we had plans afterwards which we had to reschedule as we were running so late. We went well past the 90 minutes suggested by the website and this was not due to our enjoyment! Finally, we did not receive anything to mark my sister’s Birthday, which was discussed in detail prior to our arrival. When I mentioned it to the waiter I was told that it was ready but we had no time for it. I explained how disappointed we were with the service to which he shrugged and said there was a rush. Also known as 3 other tables to be served!! We received a very insincere apology with no attempt of making it up to us. We definitely will not be recommending or returning again. I have since emailed the restaurant manage with another insincere apology - how disappointing for a restaurant in a luxury hotel

We got sit in corner that ruin the experience. Additionally they kind of force to order more. The manager was good but there was one employees who was just behind us on table and was Indian so we were bit uncomfortable to do personal communication. I had bad experience. I went for view but they offer to other people which I don't like this kind of discrimination. Probably we were with 2 kids or Indian that's why they gave priory to british. Overall can do good job on employee side however food was okay not so good but ok.

Went for our Christmas party and had dinner here, very nice Indian food, great service. Ask for a window seat for good views of London. Very attentive with drinks

I visited this restaurant with my wife earlier today and would like to say that the service provided specifically by Suraj was excellent. From the moment we were seated, he greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcomed. His friendly demeanor and professionalism truly enhanced our dining experience. Had a reservation for my husband birthday through Virgin Experience and the food was absolutely top notch! It was delicious, exquisite and more than enough to get filled. Not to mention the view is very beautiful towards the river. Really recommend it! We will definitely come back! Ohh I forgot the name of the waiter who set your table, was a young man he was really nice and helpful! 🙂

We had the Indian high tea, and the tea was great unlimited tea, all different flavours from India with the best cakes and pasties...delicious.

We had the pleasure of enjoying a spectacular New Year’s Eve dinner at this Indian restaurant, and it was a very nice experience. The food was simply amazing—each dish was flavorful, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. While the portions might initially look small, don’t be fooled—you’ll leave feeling completely satisfied. The breathtaking views of Canary Wharf made the evening feel even more special. To sum up, this incredible Indian cuisine with a view is a must-visit place if you are a guest hotel or not.

Very unique and tasty new year 7 course Indian vegetarian feast. The non veg option looked great too. Nice riverside views. Great service for fine dining. Very friendly staff. Absolutely loved the fireworks at 12:00 as part of the intercontinental hotel! Was superb and clearly visible against the Canary Wharf skyline. Great night out for a special occasion.

We had a lovely experience here for my partners birthday dinner. The hotel/Kinaara team (Zana) was extremely accommodating when it came to using our Virgin voucher experience at short notice making our experience all the more special. The food was delicious and left us feeling full and satisfied. My partner enjoyed the butter chicken (not to my taste) but I loved the meat curry (gosht). The chilli prawns and lamb chops were delicious as starters! The halwa dessert was also very tasty, I did not enjoy the chocolate marquise due to the strong cardamom(?) taste (but others would enjoy I’m sure). The service was at times a little slow but nothing that detracted from our experience! It gave us more time to talk to one another. The atmosphere was lovely, and the view of Canary Wharf was fantastic. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will hopefully be back again.

I took my wife to Kinaara for afternoon tea as a birthday surprise. It was such a great experience, the food was really tasty and the service was great. Some really fantastic views from our table looking over the river. Sonal (the waitress) really looked after us. Definately worth booking for a special occasion.

We booked the Indian afternoon tea vouchers for a family get together. Sadly, we were told upon arriving we couldn't order from their al la carte menu (despite being told on the phone that it would be ok) and we couldn't use vouchers that had been purchased that day (which wasn't stated anywhere on the voucher). There were 10 of us altogether, a few already seated and a few of us being made to stand around (20 minutes or so) whilst the member of staff went into the back room to ask 'his manager' then started seating another table. We then had to re-approch him as we still hadn't had any clarity/ solution. We were told there was nothing much he was able to do and so a few of us just ended up leaving. All in all, it was a pretty negative experience and the staff didn't seem at all solutions focused. Had a lovely lunch at Honest burger in Greenwich instead and the best hot chocolate in Dark Sugars!

WOW! Vaya lugar. Ubicado dentro del hermoso Hotel Intercontinental pero al llegar al restaurante se siente como si estuviera en un lugar totalmente diferente y exclusivo. Gran iluminación y ambiente, pero lo más impresionante fue poder cenar con una gran vista del horizonte de Londres. Las porciones eran bastante buenas y los sabores eran geniales. El personal nos cuidó muy bien y hizo mucho esfuerzo. Los precios son más de lo que normalmente pagarías en un indio, pero este no es un indio común. Lo recomendaría encarecidamente y genial para una ocasión especial.

We went with a virgin experience voucher. The food was decent and the view was nice, the restaurant was very quiet though and lacked atmosphere, we also had to wait 15 mins to be seated despite there being plenty of empty tables.

Extremely over priced afternoon tea at £55 with 12.5% service charge for what amounted to a tasteless food experience. Not sure why there are mainly rave reviews on places like TripAdvisor, and I question whether its the same place! Me and my friends concurred the savoury part of the afternoon tea "experience" was mediocre, and the mini desserts lacked flavour. The only decent serving was the desi tea. Definitely not recommended especially if you're out for an occasion as you'll be disappointed. We also felt rushed from our table and were moved on. The waiter said the table was for 90 mins only as the staff had to prepare for the evening meal. So we sat on some comfy chairs on the side instead, only to be moved on some 20 min later as we were next told they are closing the restaurant for their break. Staff were OK but not very welcoming. They advertise a Riverview experience but only if there are 2 people as the tables for the Riverview side are small. Perhaps make that clear on your website!

I don't like the phrase "hidden gem" and I rarely use it, but this is one of those cases, I think. This afternoon tea was spectacular. There are no boring finger sandwiches (just one coronation chicken, and it was a very, very good coronation chicken), and instead they serve Indian snacks which are full of flavour. And desserts were really the best I had in a year, all thanks to the same spices: cardamom, fennel, notes you almost never taste in an afternoon tea. The service, provided by Roshaan, was correct: friendly, but not oversweetened. The views on Thames are also enjoyable, and I'm surprised this place was never recommended for it's views, because they are spectacular. I would highly recommend this place, and we will return for either dinner or when there is a new afternoon tea menu 😀

We came to Kinaara for a friends birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We loved the food, service and ambience. It’s located outside Central London which means it’s a great option for food if you’re not in Central. You may need to book quite far in advance, however. The restaurant has 2 AA Rosettes and the quality of the food reflects this. We went for the á la carte menu which is much more reasonable compared to the tasting menus. We thoroughly enjoyed the Grilled Broccoli starter! We have never tasted such spices and flavours coming through together so well, and we’ve been to many different Indian restaurants in London. Kinaara chaat was pretty good as well as the paneer tikka. The truffle cheese naan is delicious and is a must have when you come here. It’s also very unique and has a great flavour which goes well with the Kinaara daal. Veg kofta is also delicious. It’s very filling so maybe skip starters if you’re ordering naans for the mains. Highly recommended!! Kinaara has great ambience, good food and wonderful service. We will be coming here again.

Overall, we were disappointed. Food wasn't particularly hot in temperature. The crust on crusted lamb chop starter was wet. Butter chicken was very bland (like a tomato soup with chicken in) nann bread was thin and crispy. We won't be visiting again.

I have to say, I was incredibly disappointed by both the service and offering for afternoon tea. Travelling all the way from Berkshire and having this experience wasn’t great. If you’re looking for a place solely about the view, then maybe. But if you’re expecting anything decent food wise, especially with an Indian twist, The Dilly is way better. Any London hotel afternoon tea trumps this place. We received vegetarian and non veg options on the same plate, and the response from the server was not to touch the other one. I think if this was some little cute hole in the wall kinda place, it would have been fine. But it’s a 5 star hotel. When I asked for some extra sandwiches. Plural. They bought me one. I’d rather they just have said we’ll charge, and bring what I ordered. There’s more, but I think you get the picture.

Went for afternoon tea with my mum and the food was outstanding. We especially enjoyed the paneer puff pastry. The alphonso mango tart was also delicious! What made the experience exceptional was the service by Suraj and other team members (really sorry, don't recall their names). They made it enjoyable and relaxing for us so really thankful to them :)

Exquisite desserts that were almost too beautiful to eat! The entire menu, from savoury to sweet, is fantastic. We were lucky to have a sunny London day to enjoy the views of Canary Wharf. What an amazing spot for an Afternoon Tea or, more precisely, Chai by the Shore. The food was beautifully presented and tasted divine. A special treat was meeting chef Narayan , a Great British Bake Off winner, who created the desserts that were miniature works of art and absolute flavour explosion in your mouth. This is an experience I would like to indulge in again soon. A special mention to Zana and the other members of staff at Kinara who were attentive and over and beyond to ensure we had an outstanding experience.

First time I have written a review but felt I should after this experience. We had been really looking forward to dining at Kinaara after seeing such tempting photos online and reading some glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. Although the restaurant had a nice ambiance and the staff were friendly and provided good service, the food fell far short of our expectations. It’s not just that it didn’t live up to the higher prices—we found the quality was below that of any mediocre Indian takeaway. My prawn starter had strange, grisly bits (something I’ve never encountered with prawns before), though the salmon starter was okay. The biryani looked promising with its baked bread lid, but it had very little chicken and was bland. The spring lamb dish was also a letdown, as the meat was very tough and dry. Given how underwhelmed we were by the meal, we chose to skip dessert, lacking confidence that it would be any better. Perhaps we were just unlucky, but at a restaurant with such positive reviews and premium prices, we expected a higher level of consistency and left feeling very dissatisfied.

5 out of 5, we enjoyed it a lot, amazing atmosphere and food was so delicious. Butter chicken was just on another level. Amazing view especially when the sun is slowly going down. Would highly recommend and come back here again 100%. Sanjuk served our table and he was great, very helpful, we were very happy with the service. (Sorry if I misspelled name). Fantastic place.

I eat here on occasion and the restaurant always serves delicious, beautifully presented food. The staff are attentive but not overly so and very knowledgeable about the dishes they serve. No question is difficult.

Decided to have dinner at Kinaara O2 with my family of 5. I must say that we are extremely pleased. Ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, the bonus point is that it faces the beautiful Canary Wharf and Thames. Diverse options of both traditional and fusion is appreciated. We are spoilt for choice, but so glad we orderes the kadai prawn, the best! From the entrance till we leave, the staffs at Kinaara O2 have been nothing but great. Their attentiveness, friendliness and professionalism, created a pleasant dining experience. And the chef indulged us with a surprise entree, which were both pleasant to the eyes and stomach (: Overall, dining at Kinaara O2 could be a delightful experience thanks to its combination of ambiance, quality food, and exceptional service. The meat being halal is of course the deal breaker. Thank you again.

Fantastic service by Navya and Suraj, with great descriptions of all items. The savoury items are top notch, really delicious, could have eaten them all again! The homemade blend tea was yummy. I did find some of the sweet items a little too sweet but didn’t stop us eating the lot! Will hopefully come back to try the dinner menu at some point. Fab day, lovely view and a great ambience

Exceptional food. I had a delicious curry and something I've never tried before, truffle/cheese naan. The flavours were incredible and portion sizes were just right. Views over the river are great, especially early in the evening. The staff are exceptionally kind and attentive. I came on a Tuesday evening when there was no show at the 02 and had the whole place to myself which was unusual. I bet this place is heaving pre-show on event nights.

Ahora bien, nosotros le comentamos a nuestro camarero Roshaan que no nos gustaba la comida MUY picante y el nos aconsejó con enorme paciencia (y venciendo nuestros problemas con el idioma) lo que debíamos y no debíamos pedir. El resultado fue estupendo. El lugar es elegante sin ningún exceso decorativo. Las vistas también contribuyen a hacer la estancia más mágica. Nota: se accede a través del hotel Intercontinental.

We'll start with something obvious: we are in an Indian restaurant and, therefore, EVERYTHING is spicy. Now, we told our waiter Roshaan that we didn't like VERY spicy food and he advised us with great patience (and overcoming our language problems) what we should and shouldn't order. The result was great. The place is elegant without any decorative excess. The views also help to make the stay more magical. Note: access is through the Intercontinental hotel.

One of the best Indian Restaurants I have ever been to. The food was so aromatic and delicious. The variety of items of the menu was also really good. The food did not take a long time to arrive and everything was perfect. Our waiter Roshaan was amazing and gave us the best advice on what to eat. I would definitely recommend.

What an amazing place, fantastic, delicious and authentic food. Superb service, lovely views of Canary Wharf. Trust me, their butter chicken is legendary, as is the Indian ocean prawns, which are exceptional. So, something easy, expensive, fresh and delectable. Give this place a go, you will not be disappointed, well you shouldn't be at this price point! 🤣

Such a beautiful spot with unspoiled views of Canary Wharf. The truffle chess naan was soo delicious was tempted to order two. The sitting arrangements allow for best views. The service was excellent, didn’t like my butter chicken and they made a chef special instead. In the midst of a dispute with my partner the staff surprised us with a congratulatory dessert for our pregnancy and most of them came to wish us well. This immediately shifted our perspective and mood. Thank you and I’ll be back for that truffle cheese naan

Had dinner here and got the tasting menu. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the non-vegetarian menu, but the vegetarian one looked really good as well. Service was also very friendly and there were nice views of the city.

We came here for a team dinner. The staff were excellent. The night time views of the city were stunning . The female waitress is the best person to go to for food recommendations. I cannot fault any of the dishes, everything we had tasted delicious! Wish I had more room for dessert! If you are a pescatarian, would highly recommend the Halibut. I had this with saffron Rice and the combination was divine. The Kinaara Chaat is also one of my top picks. Seasoned chickpeas with yogurt. I noticed they have a private dining room if you wanted a private setting which was a well set up room. Would highly recommend coming here for date night, corporate team dinner or even to catch up with friends and family.

This is a lovely restaurant with great views over the Thames towards Canary Wharf. The staff are all super friendly and smiley. We were looked after by Sonal and she was wonderful. The food was excellent. We went for the tasting menu and got more food than we expected! My favourite was the duck starter, but it was all delicious! We were celebrating our anniversary and were given some lovely macarons on the house.

My visit to Kinaara was fantastic as usual. I have been 3 times now and every single time I am greeted by friendly, smiling and helpful staff. They know the menu back to front and their knowledge is fantastic. I was served by Sonal who made the visit comfortable she was able to recommend several dishes which were all absolutely fantastic. The food paired with the subtle, peaceful atmosphere in the restaurant is simply great. A perfect place to wind down after a day of walking miles at ExCel!

We had a wonderful dinner with a very courteous and friendly waitress - Sonal. The food was on point and simply perfect!!

We wanted something a little special for my dad’s birthday and this didn’t disappoint. Staff were very attentive, perhaps a little too attentive at the start until the place got busier. Atmosphere and views were great. But the highlight was the food… exceptional!! The appetiser and paneer starter were particularly delicious, but we enjoyed all the selection. A great night out, and the candle and birthday dessert was a lovely touch!
