KimJi Korean Restaurant in Preston

The menu was extensive, featuring a wide array of traditional dishes. I tried the bibimbap, and it was simply outstanding! The flavors were vibrant, and the fresh vegetables paired perfectly with the marinated beef. My friend opted for the Korean BBQ. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the dipping sauces were a perfect complement.

Overall, this restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. Especially vegan and vegetarian options. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu! Five stars all the way!

Honestly so good! We saw an A board out while shopping today and thank god we did. Went in for lunch, the lunch menu was £9.50 (with 50p supplement for Korean fried chicken!!!) and we both got Korean fried chicken for starters, and then beef bibimbap for main, with a side of takoyaki. Food was quick, great quality and so tasty. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend! Also, LOADS of gluten free options!

Foods good 👍 service is polite and generally quite quick. Not out of the world but good food for a decent price.

Useless, didn’t cancel our order made us wait 3hr then closed

We have just had a lovely Sunday afternoon meal at KimJi, the food was freshly cooked and very authentically Korean. The staff were excellent in particular our waiter (Leighton), he was very polite, very attentive and very confident in what he was doing. The £18.95 costs for the all you can eat menu is excellent value and has a good choice of starters & main meals on there. We are very impressed and we will definitely return. Many thanks

10 quid and they skimp out on the rice??? Like I'd rather they at least packed it with rice. But hardly and beef or rice for your money. Honestly wouldn't spend more than £6 one the main which was starter sized.

The food here offers a gentle introduction to Korean cuisine, making it a good choice for those new to the flavours of Korea. However, for anyone who grew up with Korean food or has had authentic experiences in Korea, the dishes will fall short, especially given the price point which I think is a bit high. The venue itself is clean and has a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, which makes for a pleasant dining experience overall.

So so disappointed with the delivery service . Waiting ages for our food and then the main kfc box was missing ! When addressing the restaurant and asking to send asap they said not there problem and to ask for a refund ! The starters that came were cold and sloppy . Not impressed and will never order again

Ordered a takeaway and it arrived 35 minutes late, cold and half the order was missing. Called the restaurant and asked what was going on and their reply was the delivery driver forgot it and there was nothing they could do! Not helpful in the slightest and £45 down the drain. Horrendous service and will not be returning

Had a wonderful meal tonight, crispy vegetable dumplings were delicious, chicken bulgogi wonderful! My housemate loved the pork dumplings and the beef bibimbap! We can’t wait to come back! Made our birthday celebration amazing!

Fabulous food at very reasonable prices and the service was excellent too. Would recommend without hesitation and will definitely be returning

Disappointed. We were excited to try some of our favourite Korean foods from this Korean restaurant. The restaurant is on 2 levels. There is a small seating area downstairs with more upstairs. It is quite cosy. We were greeted and shown to our table for 3. Shortly after our drinks order were taken. This was followed by our food order. Part of our order arrived. We thought nothing of it and assumed the rest would be there shortly. They were extremely busy. The kimchi pancake was nice, but it was burnt on the edges and on the bottom. I've never experienced this before, but it still tasted okay. The kimchi fried chicken was more batter than chicken, which was disappointing. Time elapsed, we finished what was brought and waited patiently for the rest of our order. and we realised they had forgotten the rest of our order. I brought this to the attention of one of the staff members who let someone know. We waited a further 45 minutes. We were contemplating settling the bill and leaving due to how long we waited. Our missing items arrived. My japchae was very crunchy. The heat was too high, or it was forgotten, but it was almost burnt. It was a disappointing experience. Having to wait 45 minutes because some of our food was not processed. And having burnt food. Never had a K food experience like this. I'm really sad about it.

Food was excellent. Really good quality and delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Great value for money. They do a lunch menu but we ate off the main menu and had the Korean BBQ dishes. We had gone specifically to try it and we weren't disappointed.

Visited Thursday lunchtime. Made the journey to Preston especially after seeing online reviews. We were not disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and the service efficient. Fantastic food. They do an excellent value lunch menu, but we wanted to try the Korean BBQ. We had both the chicken and Pork which came with delicious accompaniments. Highly recommended!!

Went here for lunch and had the lunch time special. The food was great and very reasonable priced. Only negative nearly a fiver for a 330ml bottle of beer.😳

Not authentic Korean but probably the closest you can get in Preston. Service is a bit like “they aren’t really sure what to do” kind of vibe

Great food and super cheap on the lunch menu

I called in the morning to check timings, was told the restaurant closes at 10pm. On google as well it shows 10pm and it is Thursday evening. 11 of us arrived at 8.20pm at the restaurant only to be told they closed early today, no explanation given. Later when I called after 10 mins to check why it closed early the girl answered and then said the chef left early !!! And she hung up the phone . Extremely rude customer service , would never come here for food. Must be doing really bad for the restaurant to close 8.20pm on a busy Thursday night . Extremely disappointed and would never trust the food quality from a place where they close early suddenly and rude behavior.

Lovely authentic food. Quick friendly service.

On arrival there was no host to direct. Dining area is cozy but very small. Food is very lacking. The starter we ordered the Korean Fried Chicken and prawns which tasted rich and nice. That was the only nice food about the food. The mains were very bland. We ordered the beef bulgogi and there was nothing Korean about it apart from name. It was exceptionally disappointingly bland. We had to go to another restaurant. The waitress was great but the poor girl was on her own. If this restaurant stays on this trajectory it will won't be long before it closes.

Absolutely delightful Korean restaurant in Preston. The lunch menu is a shockingly good deal at £8.95 for loads of amazing food. The Sunday All-You-Can-Eat is an indulgent and delicious challenge. The regular menu is reasonably priced and varied. DO NOT MISS THE KFC!!

Dolsot bibimbap is very similar to Korea.. There are a lot of people and I like the owner Boommim.

It was nice to see they had fairly traditional Korean food. My Ginseng Chicken Soup was very good. My Seafood Pancake 부침개 was a bit off. A bit runny in the middle and something about the flavor I can't pin down. Just off. Better than expected, but I didn't see any Korean eirher working for the business or dining there. 🤔 I'll go back for the soup, maybe I'll try the tteokbokki 떡볶이. My friend had fried chicken and he said it was tasty, looked good, but I can't rate what I didn't experience.

Always loved the food from Kimji. Also, estimated delivery time was 19:15 and it arrived around 19:00, so a win!

Specially called up the restaurant to ask and they mentioned it closed at 3pm on a Sat( as stated on the menu) but when I went there at 2.40pm it was already closed Was there especially to try the restaurant after a meeting near Preston as I am not from Preston Hopefully they could change the timings so others would not misunderstand Thank you

Visited on a Friday lunch time with my husband. Wow what an absolute gem of a place. The lunch set menu is great value and so tasty. The Korean fried chicken is our favourite chicken from anywhere. The server was friendly and coped well with pretty much full room on her own. If you like or want to try Korean food then give this place a go !

Food serving speed slow. Food is not even Korean, Kimchi dumplings no kimchi taste. Beef and onions are burnt, not sure why the rice is in the same hot plate as the beef. The cabbage looks daunting to eat as well....

What a delight! First time here and hopefully not our last ! We were greeted warmly by Labib (hope l've got that correct) very informative regarding the menu and what can be changed for a Vegan diet As a former waitress l couldn't help but watch his approach to customer's.. he was friendly, smiley, calm and paid attention, there was a time when virtually ALL the tables upstairs were taken but that didn't phase him from taking orders, delivering drinks, setting food and settling bills. He did it all smoothly and with no stress. What a great all rounder! Top marks to him & the chefs We loved it 😍

We ordered the Bibimbap, vegetable udon, fried chicken, and sea pancakes. All the food was disappointing! The udon was oily and overcooked with few vegetables, the chicken was tough and slightly burnt with a small portion, and the sea pancake was half overcooked and burnt. It made us return the pancakes.

The food was great but the wait time for the food was just extremely long and not great if you’re really hungry and trying to find something to eat. When we went there was only 1 server ( She was lovely) in the whole restaurant she took orders and served like 4-5 tables we feel as though the service could be better with an extra member of staff taking orders as well but we still were patient and waited for our lovely food. The restaurant gets very warm and fill with smoke when hot plates are used and no windows was open which was a little bit uncomfortable for us BUT for the food we will be coming back.

This place never fails, probably my favourite food in Preston. Awesome.

I think the staff need some training. You walk in and there is no one to greet you I have stood there for 5 mins with no staff in sight unsure whether to wait to be shown a table or to just sit down. There aren’t any menus on the tables too so you have to also wait for them to be brought over. We weren’t alerted the food would burn if not quickly mixed around due to it being on sizzling stone plates so the bottom of our food burnt. Good food. It’s very hot in there windows should be opened especially with the smoke from the sizzling meals.

This was my second vist and quite simply, I consider it to be amongst the best food I've ever had. It was a busy evening & yes, similar to other reviews, the mains did take a while to arrive, but unless you're in a rush, worth the wait. I will definitely be returning - absolutely love the place.

The restaurant is in a quaint location, out of the way from the hustle and bustle. The staff were very polite. However the service was extremely slow and the food (although satisfactory) was not up to such a standard that would justify the 1hr wait for a meal. (Drinks took 35 min). I believe an overall lack of attentivness for the small size of restaurant soured our experience sadly.

The Korean/KimJi fried chicken is fantastic, I wish the bimbimbap had more Kimchi

The food is delicious and authentic. Their kimchi has a wonderful hit of chilli! Their KFC is really good. It's annoying that every order I've placed, has been delivered ice cold and has to be microwaved!

Fantastic Food as always , attentive friendly staff and non stop service for the Sunday all you can eat menu. Only slight negative was the location of our table next to the front door when people came in and out leaving it open colld and draughty but this didn't spoil our experience. Highly recommended we will be back.

The food is amazing and the staff are friendly. Plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians as well. Slightly disappointed as I asked on the phone before our meal if the veganuary menu was still available, which they said they kept on, but on the night it was not available. Still had great veggie bulgogi and starters! Can't fault the food at all! Just wish they'd keep some of the vegan options on like the stir fry or crispy rice balls

came on a trip with friends and we all enjoyed the food immensely. service was probably the best i’ve ever had, the guy serving us was so polite and friendly and very accommodating especially considering we arrived two minutes after they opened. homemade kimchi made me shed a tear it was so good and the bibimbap was unbelievable. food was so good im writing this review in the car going home. will definitely revisit if im ever in preston again

Although I’ve been to Kimji before many times, I never had written a review, but I thought that should change. As usual the food here was excellent. Fresh, tasty and great portion sizes. My partner opted for the bulgogi which was great, and I opted for the sizzling BBq, again excellent. Starters were great, and the Reaper Kimchi was excruciatingly hot, so don’t order that if you can’t handle spice! Service was a tad slow but we went on a Saturday around 1PM, so it was busy. Highly recommend!

Very slow service with the all you can eat. Had atleast 45minutes of waiting for the food to actually come out. The main course food was a bit boring and mediocre. The plate comes out really hot aswell and could potentially get burns very easily with the beef bulgogi Also DONT ORDER THE MOCCHI You spend 3 pounds to legit get 1 mocchi ball

Absolutely amazing in every way

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING IN EVERY WAY

So I had to edit this as we came again to visit last Sunday for all you can eat, unfortunately this time the wait between a server actually remembering we were there and taking our order, then the food coming out was ridiculously slow to the point my husband had time to nip to the local sainsbury's round the corner, buy a meal deal and eat it before the server had even bothered to check on us. Considering the menu was "All you can eat" my husband came out hungrier than when he went in. Despite the the wait time and the fact the restaurant could do with a makeover, the little food we had was delicious, I definitely recommend the Vegetable Bibambap, with the Korean pancake for pudding. I also want to say that the young server who seated us was lovely and very apologetic when we said we were unhappy with service. Would I come back again? Yes because the food is tasty, just not with my husband. *Original review* The food was delicious, the only downsides are that in the ladies bathroom the tap needs to be fixed and a couple of glasses were chipped on the rim.

Had a lovely evening tasting many different starters and a main meal from the Sunday buffet menu. Food delicious, made more enjoyable by the friendly service from Caden. Top picks were KFC chicken, and the bibimbab. No hesitation in recommending.

Very good restaurant. Chicken bulgogi very sizzling and very wow. I come with husband and he hesitant at first but he like so much that we come again. Manager his name Labib, very nice and polite he Muslim so he help me with Halal option very good 😊

Visited for the veganuary specials and we ordered the whole list of specials. Everything was delicious, their rice machine had an issue so they gave us noodles instead and couldn't fault anything. Great service and reasonably priced.

It was 3 hours late but you don’t have that option. It completely ruined the evening. I ordered and the restaurant accepted it at 6pm and after having to ring the restaurant, who couldn’t get a just eat driver, it finally arrived at 9pm. Totally unacceptable service from you

Went for a meal that was booked ahead. Became a comedy of errors. Forgot drinks that we ordered. Had to request water for the table multiple times. When sides came out, one was missing. Had to chase down servers to ask for it and it had been completely missed. Main courses arrived 80+ minutes after ordering. And we had to ask for it. During this time multiple groups arrived after us, ate and paid. One main was missing. Then arrived wrong and had to be re done. Once we got the bill we were charged for things we didn’t order. Not a great experience, exasperating and frustrating when we came for lunch.

Truly disappointed- we were so excited to try Kimji, after hearing about it, but we left feeling really down-hearted. It took 1 hour 20 for our food to arrive, servers forgot about food, charged us for extra, and it was just average food. It was my mum’s birthday, and sadly we were so upset afterwards. I hope this was just a one off.

Lunch set is not good. Small quantity

We’ve been here a few times and never had a problem, but this visit was very disappointing. Only 2 servers on shift and they appeared to be rushed off their feet, I felt sorry for them. They were polite and took our orders around 2:15pm. Come 3:30 we had our starters (they forgot one of our starters, however, and 2 drinks). No sign of mains (other people who came after us got their food, paid and left!) until I enquired about them and suddenly they arrived. We asked for no egg on a vegan bibimbap and it came with an egg and had to be sent back. Lettuce for the bulgogi was also forgotten. Food was good, as usual. Tasty and hot. However, portions seemed a little smaller and presentation was rushed. Get more staff on! And train your staff. They are always polite but clearly inexperienced in waiting tables. I’m afraid we won’t be going back. Such a poor visit with massive delays to getting starters, mains and drinks. My parent’s especially weren’t impressed even though they have both enjoyed visits before. Such a shame.

Although the price and service are ok (especially for lunch boxes), the bento box looks really sad.... I literally got this one piece of egg roll and an entire empty compartment in the bento box. The visual experience was funny, and the taste undescribable 😂

Glad we booked as restaurant was full. ( 29.12.23) Drinks and food order taken and starters arrived relatively quickly and were delicious! The rest of the meal went a little slower, in our view could have done with at least another 2 servers as the only 2 there were so busy and it was difficult to catch their eye. Our mains were tasty. The desserts would benefit from some thing a bit sharp as they were essentially pancakes / fritters with ice cream, made well but a bit bland for our taste. The environment was quite noisy due to there being no soft furnishings at all, perhaps some drapes and curtains would help. Lacks tablecloths, more like a cafe in style. We will definitely go back and try other things. A great find in Preston Centre.

I like this restaurant, there is choices from vegtables if you don't want to eat meat. And their citrus honey tea is a must to try.

Delightful lunch menu, great value for money

The food was great but the delivery person was extremely rude, he called and said I am arriving so he did not say he has already arrived inspite of that I went down and waited beside the gate, then I directly got his missed calls and when I called him back he said his time is finished and gave me an impression that he has left, when I asked ok so what can I do now he got out of the car all angry, and said my time is finished now when he waisted a minute on that phone call, it would not have been 10 minutes without that angry phone call of his. This is unprofessional behaviour . I have never had an experience like this before with any other delivery person.

Some staff seem clueless and almost too busy to manage the whole restaurant. A good selection of food on the all you can eat menu, but there were no standardisation on the quality of the food. One of the pancakes came up all burnt. Portion was also different every time when it arrived. Nevertheless, the fried chicken and beef bibimbap were absolutely gorgeous! The cleanliness of the restaurant could do with some improvement. Some of the dishes are not the cleanest. The floor is very sticky and requires a good clean. Due to the reason that they serve hot stone dishes, the restaurant can be very stuffy and stinky with cooking smokes. I would think the restaurant will need better extraction fans. Overall an ok experience, would come again!

Usually love Kimji but was very disappointed. Pork was basically just fat could not eat any of it. Forgot the sauce for my dumplings too.
