Walked a long way to visit after seeing good reviews - only to find it shut - even though I had checked online that it was open. Best call ahead if you are making an effort to get there.

We've been going to kimchi planet for more than two years and it's probably our favourite restaurant in Newcastle. Food is delicious and well priced. Only problem is it's so hard to choose between the spicy chicken rice bowl and pork cheese and egg kimchi fried rice!

We are regular customers with the quality and flavours of Korean food served being excellent. The vegan beef kimbap (sushi), fried vegetable dumplings and homemade kimchi jars to go are personal favourites. There is a clear amount of talent and love that goes into cooking these hearty and fresh dishes. The staff are always helpful and friendly.

I was so excited to try this place as it had great reviews. I really wanted to give it 5/5 (because the food is out of this world and was absolutely amazing the best takeaway we’ve had) however my decision was sadly based on the customer service I received as soon as I walked through the door. The lady was very unwelcoming and looked at me as tho why she coming in this late (20:15) and food preparation finishes at 20:30 which is fine. She never gave me a warm welcome. I have never been here before and asked for recommendations which I got a blank look at and one word answer. Sharp, unhappy and abrupt which I found disheartening. Such lovely food tho and throughly enjoyed it. Just first impressions were sadly disappointing.

What a lovely wee hidden gem. We found out about this place from a work colleague, as it is hidden away in a quiet housing area. We both had rice bowls which were delicious and really reasonably priced. It's also incredible how as soon as you step through the door, it's like you're not in England any more - the atmosphere and decor mimics small restaurants in Asia so well! Definitely worth the trip!

Ordered a couple of dishes from here today, two different flavour kimbaps, kimchi pancakes, hotteocks, and japchae. Utterly disappointed with the quality never mind the quantity... The rice for the Kimbaps were so mushy, it doesn’t have the distinctive rice shapes, it’s just looked like someone had added too much water into it, making it a consistancy of half rice half congee!! Never had I had a kimchi pancake as disgusted looking as the one we ordered today. It was black burnt and rock hard! Hotteocks were also burnt! The Japchae was so oily, it just feels like you’re slurping on oil in every mouth you intake. Tried messaging them thru Facebook but no replies whatsoever. Paid £20+ for food that’s not edible!

I loved the kimbup was soooo good! I hate the small plastic pots for sauces and wish there was an option to not get these freebies as I don’t eat. Nice touch though :) I really liked the dumplings but wish you offered steamed option. I would also like to see spicy kimchi on the menu! I highly recommend this place.

I was very excited to say the least when I found out about kimchi planet, through lockdown I watched a few Korean food blogging videos and wondered what it tasted like. We had the kimchi fried rice, kimchi, veggie dumplings, vegan beef kimbap, black bean noodles and the hotteok. Impressed they did a vegan meat option rather than just veggies. The hotteok was amazing! Really enjoyed the meal and wood definitely recommend! The dishes are about £6 for a main and you get plenty, sides and dessert about £3.5. So cheap enough if you want to go and order a few things to share and try.

Had been for a takeaway before lockdown and was very impressed. Just had one via dileveroo and what a difference! Sushi we had was still excellent, but it was like “spot the meat” on the rice bowls. Shame. Am adding photo of what was left of too much rice and (tasty) sauce after our disappointment Expected better for £50!

Fantastic gem hidden away. A small unassuming cafe to grab lunch at decent prices. We shared the spicy bbq chicken rice bowl, pork and samjang kimbap and kimchi pancake. All served steaming hot and great portions. The kimchi pancake was too greasy for our liking as tried this dish elsewhere before and the batter is much lighter and usually filled with kimchi. Enjoyed the rice bowl and the chicken was so tasty and spiced well. Really enjoyed the kimbap and could of ordered more. All for £18 including 2 pots of tea is a fair price for lunch. So glad we visited.

I tried this petite restaurant twice. I ordered the £5 Kimchi, Avocado and Veggies option. A lady in the back cooked it and front of house added a sprinkle of something savoury and crispy on top as the finishing. Hot and tasty. A week later went back, ordered the same. This time after a long wait, I paid for the same dish. Got home nearby, opened up and found it was stone cold and without the topping which made it particularly nice first time. Owner lacked any sincerity instead in her reply to my Google review defended herself, in denial. Claimed the shop had a queue! Yes one person when I arrived. No excuse for my cold food lacking flavour. Her inadequate response means losing my custom along with my family and friends I would have brought to it in future. Things do go wrong but good establishments put things right.

Amazing food, amazing prices, amazing atmosphere nestled in the middle of a housing estate on the outskirts of the city. Definitely worth visiting! Hopefully it'll get popular enough to keep the kitchen open past 8.30 on a week night as it's trickier for late eaters not on the 'geordie tea time' schedule.

Tucked away on a street in Newcastle I did not even know existed, this place is a real find. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and the service very friendly. Not being much of a conoisseur of Korean food, I could not say how this compared with other Korean places but in terms of basic qualities like "being delicious" and so on, Kimchi Planet ticked all the boxes. Everything was full of flavour, and as I was eating the vegetarian options this is especially impressive (some places have pretty poor vegetarian options). There is plenty more that I am keen to try next time, e.g. the noodle soups and kimchi pancakes.

I decided to go for the beef bulgogi at Heaton Park festival. It was just perfect! The beef was succulent and the flavour was amazing!! Usually I’m not a fan of spice, and even though it was a surprise to my taste buds, it fit perfectly with the dish! Also the chefs were really friendly and there were even vegan options! Hope to eat their food again sometime x

I am so glad we found this little gem in newcastle! This tiny restaurant has super friendly staff with great service. Small menu but it is done beautifully. We had the beef rice bowl, the Korean bbq kimbab and pancakes as a side. I haven’t had proper Korean food since I arrive Newcastle 3 years ago until I stumble across Kimchi Planet. And I can confidently say it’s very authentic. I’ve ordered the vegan beef bulgogi rice bowl and the “beef” is made with soy, which is gluten free and meat free! The price is super inexpensive considering how much food is in a portion. I’ve paid £5.80 for a the meal and came out with a stomach full. Great value, great vibe and friendly staff! :)

My son is addicted to this place which has only been open for a few weeks! I’m not sure that I want to review this fabulous place because we’ll never get a table once everyone finds out about it! It’s hidden away, just a few minutes walk from the Northumbria campus ( fashion dept etc...) in a row of shops. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Three of us ordered absolutely loads of food which would have easily fed four and we had some gorgeous melon drinks. The bill came to just £32! We are planning our next trip for this weekend!

We recently visited Bangrak Thai for a company meal with 17 people. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. We were seated upstairs in a large, comfortable room that provided a perfect setting for a group gathering. Instead of opting for a set meal, we ordered from the menu, which allowed us to enjoy a variety of dishes. Every plate looked amazing, and the quality was consistent across the board. I personally had the tom yum with prawns, and the chilli beef—both were excellent, bursting with authentic Thai flavours and perfectly cooked. The environment was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring the meal ran smoothly despite the size of our group. Highly recommended for both large groups and smaller outings. A wonderful spot for delicious Thai food and great hospitality.

Been here for over 10 years now and very fond of this place. Never disappoints. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and extremely delicious, soft baked goods. They offer a variety of personalised birthday cakes and me and my family have been getting them every year from Breadpoint without hesitation, as the western cakes have always been too sweet for our tastebuds. Soft, light, fluffy and not overly sweetened, the birthday fruit cake (cream with almond slices on the sides) is their signature staple and 100% worth trying. I love their matcha roll, vanilla roll, egg tarts, custard pineapple bun and char siu buns. I've also been to a London bakery in Chinatown recently and the quality is on par with each other. I hope one day they can offer a slice of pandan cake too.
