Kilimanjaros in Middlesbrough

Terrible customer service. No communication. Ordered delivery & paid, waited and waited but it never came. Ring to find out they have cancelled my order but couldn't be bother to tell me. Turns out they don't deliver 5 mile only 3 mile radius so not sure why they took the order or my money... (which I still haven't got back yet) waited an hour before I called them and found this out, if I hadn't we would of probably still been waiting as they had no intention of telling us. Absolute joke of a restaurant and My 6 year old is now starving

Nous voulions manger rapidement. On s'est assis sur les transats côté snack et on nous a dit qu'il valait mieux commander une des 4 pizzas proposées plutôt que des paninis ( moins chers...) pour que ce soit plus rapide !!! Au final 1h30 après , on n'avait toujours pas nos pizzas et quand elles sont arrivées , on en a récupéré 2 sur les 4 commandées!!! Ça craint ! Par contre, le serveur était navré et super sympa. Dommage que les cuisines ne suivent pas. Donc vous pouvez y aller mais si vous avez au moins 2h pour déjeuner.

I would definitely recommend it to other people and the starter was gorgeous the staffs were so helpful as well.

Came for early tea last week Few people in Newer better menu since last here good atmosphere +prompt service Food delicious as usual I had main of mini mixed grill and friend had Waca Waca Chicken plus starters.. hot fresh and tasty One thing tho puzzled me -They do NOT take card payments Asked us to go to cashpoint a block down - very unusual....

The place was empty at 6pm midweek. So we're told to pick our own table, but then we're told we couldn't sit there because it was already taken??¿? So, our drinks order was taken and we waited and waited for that to arrive.... Food order was taken and that was served in a reasonable time, and it was edible. Still waiting for our drinks though at this stage. Oh and there were two more tables taken by now... Absolutely not going back.

Terrible experience. Ordered food half came they forgot the rest when asked said “we forgot and a shrug of the shoulders” no apologies waited further 10 mins no food asked manager again no apologies they forgot my order. There were only 3 other tables occupied, probably explains why, asked for food to be boxed as when came the others had actually finished their meal. The food is ok but they just were not bothered even at the end the owner really could not be bothered and the young lad even said “ I’m not bothered” They only discounted the meal because I said this is not worth it and I should not be paying for it, was never offered and then I was told CASH ONLY. Won’t be going back ruined my family meal and terrible customer service this is meant to be under new management well I think they have a lot to learn about customer service, Could easily have been resolved but attitude was terrible which is why I have wrote the review Chef came out at the end and apologised offered to discount next visit, but the damage had already been done the new owners were not bothered and just want your CASH no cards I wounder why, penny pinching for the sake of customer service just shows what is more important money or the customers who are paying it. If the service is right customers will come back again and again, if you don’t have any customers you won’t have a business

Went to Kilimandjaros for a 'teatime' meal with the guys from work. We'll just pop in, we thought for a quick bite and then home, no drinking sesh tonight as everyone had things on to get back to. Ha, NEVER go there if you are in a hurry, jeez nearly two hours to have our meal served, the first course took forty five minutes to come out, it took half an hour to get drinks - only soft drinks as they don't sell alcohol although you can take your own, but it also took half an hour to get a glass for our wine! The serving staff need Customer Service and Hospitality skills training, not attentive, no interaction, we had to keep trying to get their attention and when challenged about the length of time it was taking to bring the food, the reply from the guy in the baggy, falling down trousers said "that's just the way it is". Well, we'll tell you just the way it is, we won't be coming back....and you lost a big tip as our left over money is going in our tea fund!! Faulty Towers eat your heart out. Shame really as the food was good. Lessons to be learned 😕

Food: Excellent Service: Excellent Atmos: Excellent Highly recommended. I have lived in boro for almost 2 years now, and my go-to place for good food has been Kilimandjaro from day one. I have probably been to this restaurant about 20-30 times over the past two years, and have only received poor food once, everyone is allowed one day of bad service. The chicken dishes in this place are executed to absolute perfection, it is juicy, has that char grilled taste to it, and never ever have it been dry. The lamb chops is also of excellent taste, and for a first timer I would absolutely recommend the lamp chop starter, and the waka waka chicken (no-bones) as the main course, I can guarantee that you wont be disappointed. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful for any needs you should have, and the atmosphere of the place is very warm and pleasing. The restaurant offers an excellent fusion between African and Caribbean food. They have their own in-house sauces, one garlic, and another which I cant determine what it actually tastes like, but it is absolutely godlike. If I was going to say something negative about the place, it would have to be for the fact that they have only one bathroom to share between genders, and that it can be a bit small when they have a lot of customers. Also worth adding, the prices is really good in comparison to the portions of food you get. Most of the time I am not able to clean my plate, and I usually pay about 12-13£.

I visited kilamanjaros for a family meal, it was my daughters birthday....there was 13 of us....the staff were quick in sorting table out for us...nothing was too much trouble for them and food was delicious....atmosphere in restaurant was lovely...beats the rush in Nando’s.....

Visited as a couple, restaurant was quiet. The chicken and lamb starters were very tasty. Lovely flavoured tender pieces of meat. We had 2 parmesans - one plain and one hot shot. The shot shot one was very salty which spoilt it. Drinks fairly priced and served nice and cold. The card machine wasn’t working so they only accepted cash. Would go again but avoid the hot shot parmesan.

18 of us walked in and asked for a table and got one put up for us immediately....nothing was too much trouble!!! Food was very fast, hot and most of all very tasty, I don’t think there was a bit left, the service was very friendly. Many of the people in our party had not been before and we all said we would definitely go back!!! The chicken salad and Waka Chicken were especially nice!!! Thank you for looking after us really appreciate it, we will be back but we might book next time so you don’t have as much of a surprise.

I visited Kilamanjaros in December 2017 following a Middlesbrough football match with two other friends.

We visited midweek and the restaurant was quiet. The waitress was friendly. There was a reasonable choice of food on the menu. Food was nice. The biggest problem was its a cash only restaurant. A bit inconvenient when you don't have any cash on you. Although there is a cash point close by.

Not great food and when it finally did arrive it was cold. Waitress wasn’t interested. Biggest fault by far is when the bill arrived we were told it was cash only and one of us had to go to a caspoint. Why could we not have been told this BEFORE being seated!,

Just had a Bolognese parmo takeaway... and it was absolutely terrible! It smelt awful it was small and left an horrible after taste! £12 for something I could have made better at home!!!

Great setting, Lovely relaxed atmosphere, menu isnt overloaded with with to many dishes just enough options to suit most tastes, beautiful food, excellent price.

After a long wait for our order that only half came and having to send back both plates back both that had large chips in them the chicken was well cooked, sweet potato fries were ok but the salad was very poor, bit of cucumber, single tomato and some limp lettuce. Poor service from staff with poor English.

Mixed Grill recomendado, 17 libras por dos piezas de pollo, 3 chuletas de pequeño y un pollo atornillado, no una parrillada en mi opinión. En general no es muy buena. Entonces le dijeron al ir a pagar, que solo aceptan efectivo! ! !

Tuvimos cena agradable, aunque no soy el mayor fan de la comida caribeña. La comida estaba bien con un verdadero potencial para nuevas mejoras, mientras que el precio y la cantidad de comida era más que correcta.

I came here last weekend with my partner and the food wasn't as great as I expected it to be, after reading all the reviews I was really disappointed. The man who I assume is the manager couldn't stop flirting with the blond waitress if he would spend less time focusing on her the service would have been excellent. As working for the environmental health I was really suprised that both the waitresses are aloud to wear there hear down wich is unacceptable when there's been food served..

The food was average, the problem we had was when we asked for the bill when we were told that they would only accept cash and that we could go to the shop across the road to take cash out. We should have been told this when we arrived not when we asked for the bill, they were not apologetic and no explanation for why we could not use a card for payment. The waitress was lovely and did apologise to us as we left but we won't return any time soon !

A great family dining experience with great halal food and excellent service. Oh - and the Pamo - mouth watering! I will for sure be having another one before heading back to London. Pricing on the more expensive side for Middlesbrough but worth every penny.

I heard about this place on the radio. It was very good. I got the mixed grill, you need a big appetite for this one. Served on a big wooden board. Nicely spiced and Iv'e had this 4 times. The prices are very reasonable and you will not be disappointed. It has now go a drinks licence, which is great. The atmosphere is great and the staff are very nice. Its a smallish place but not cramped. I'm going back so I'll see you there.

Been a few times and haven't had any problems, would recommend the parmo as every time I have got it it's been spot on.

Ate here on Saturday for the first time. Hubby and I had Curry Goat and a parmo and shared between us. I'm so glad we did, they were both amazing! Gorgeous chunky home made chips too and our daughter loved her burger. I thought the drinks prices were also reasonable. When I saw the soft drinks were from cans I thought we would be charged about £2 each for them, they were £1 which is better value than half a flat coke in a pub! We will definitely be back.

We love to try new places and have a few favourites on Linthorpe Road. We were going to Oven that night but the taxi driver told us that Kilimanjaro was a nice restaurant too. We said we would try it and we were back the next week. We ordered the prawn for starters and Kili chicken for mains. We were shocked how poor the food tasted. We should have stuck with our guts and stuck with Manjaros. Not worth a second visit.

Was a quiet night, food was lovely, our daughter got a burger which was a bit too pink but we didn't complain, she still ate what she could! Reasonable prices.

Visited here on a Monday night waited 20 minutes to get a glass for our drinks,ordered our food and was still waiting 45 minutes later so ended up walking out...there was 1 toilet in the whole place which men and women shared which I don't think is right in future will stick with manjaros very very disappointed!

Very tasty, though a bit less of an emphasis on the "world famous Kilimanjaro sauce" would be welcome. Good service and great choice for vegetarian and halal. Pleace note - bring your own bottle if you want an alcaholic drink.

Will always return here! Food is amazing , staff caring and it's nice to always see the same faces! Food really filling that I never had the chance to try the dessert, such a shame but may be one day!

My husband and I went on a Sunday night , like we have done many times before. At least one or both of us always get the parmos as they are our favourite ones in Middlesbrough. On this occasion they had changed .still tasted ok but the chicken was so much thinner, less salad and horrible flat hard chips. Both my husband and I got half parmos, one being a hotshot this wasn't as good either not hot and hardly any topping ,no green chillies small amount of pepperoni, hardly worth paying the extra for. we are both normally stuffed after half a parmesan each, not any more . Left feeling disappointed. Staff are lovely though

Ordered the mixed grill which I've had before and was satisfied before.....NOT on this visit. The 2 lamb chops and the 2 pieces of lamb breast were not lamb but mutton, both overcooked and being mutton were chewy as tyres. The chicken was dry and appeared to be of the 'value' variety. My senses tell me there is some cost cutting going on in here. Unlikely to try it again in the future.

good service but food was aweful! Ordered parmo, this was the cheapest, thinest bit of breaded chicken smothered in a cheese sauce a mouthful of salad and something that was supposed to be chips which were flattened slices of potato. the service was good ,but the food another story !t

I enjoyed my visit here and tried different dishes here.I really liked the place with authentic Caribbean style deco. Specially made sauce is the best in this place with freshly grilled chicken.Friendly service and reasonable price.Will def go back again.All food they serve is halal for any Muslim lovers.

First of all what they call jolofu rice on that menu is nothing like what they served me yesterday rice over cooked looked like cous court he taste is blunt smells of butter. I ordered chicken fillets and so called jolofu rice fillets were dry n burnt. Myself and my hubby we ordered half chicken which was also burnt and the green salad was full of big chunks of onions n green peppers . So so disappointed I thought things had changed for better but it's gotten really worse. The other time I got stale and smelly chicken.

Food was okay but asked for my sauce separate which was written down and on the receipt...was an open kitchen so could see my food being prepared... one of the staff members (not chef) then poured sauce onto my order... the chef realised this and instead of replacing he then scraped sauce off with tissue... when then meal came to the table you could still see the sauce on the plate and there was still remains on the top ... being a chef myself this should have been made from scratch for allergie purposes other than the there was great service

Came back here. Very disappointing service last time and then heard from a mate that the guy who worked there, he has gone. He was very rude that's why. Lovely service from one of the lad and lass there. When I got up and had ordered my food, I noticed the chips in a blue tray was on the bottom shelf of the kitchen right next to where they walk and anything could have easily gone into it and it was not covered. I just didn't feel comfortable eating. Then a girl walked in and started arguing with one of the staff members who was a guy and said why haven't you texted me and she went loco, wasn't the atmosphere you want around you when your eating.Unsure if I'll return now, management needs to be in at all times and if management was on that day, then that's not good as no one stopped them arguing right behind us. Prices have slightly gone up, a little tight with portions I've noticed. The glass had dirty marks on it as though it had not been clean, I just drank from the can instead.

This place seems like a Caribbean version of nando's. We had the goat curry. The goat was succulent but the curry was essentially just a sauce. Waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there. Most mains are around the £10 mark.

We went here for my brother and sisters birthday meal there was 12 of us and it was absolutely brilliant all the staff were great and so helpful. The food was amazing and so cheap and being able to take your own alcohol in makes it even better. Would defiantly recommend this place. Thanks guys xxx

Pretty good place. Vidited here after a brief walj from the main tiwn area. They don't serve alcohol so wakjed to tescos for a bottle of wine. Overall a great place. I had curried goat which was good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I would go again.

Visited this place one afternoon with my friends. Didn't know what to expect since I haven't heard anything about it before, but was not let down. Order the Chicken Rasta Pasta and liked the twist they put on the traditional pasta dish; full of flavour with their signature sauce. Fantastic meal with great value for money as well.

looked ok from outside, insi was a different matter, waitresses all had long hair not tied back or pinned up, asked for a lager with our meal to be told they dont serve alcohol but i could bring mý own in (as if i would do that )so had coffee ,asked twice for saccharin sugar as im diabetic ,im still waiting for it. The floor hadnt been cleaned for a while , even the graphic writing on the walls was spelt wrong,but the food omg, the waka waka chicken was foul, ive heard of tenderising the meat but this had been battered to death and was sooo thin it was almost transparent, also hygiene was a big problem for me

Great tasting food, especially the price. Always come here than Manjaros now, especially knowing that this is the Original before the mobs at Manjaros took over, and tried to recreate the sauce. You cant beat the Orginal, and always recommend this to my friends and family.

Visited with friends after work. The service was perfect and an extensive menu that was value for money. Staff were really helpful and knowledgable about the food they were serving. Well worth a visit

despite giving phonetic postal address, there was confusion, 2 phonecalls. despite going through the order, 3 times, and reiterating yassa poulet chick without bones,it did arrive with bones, all luke warm, absolutely terrible, offered me 15% discount when I called into the restaurant, I dont think so.

Always excellent very experienced with there unbeatable sauce - you are really in another world of cuisine - UNIQUE! loved it and keep o going for more all my lunch time.

I ordered the waka waka chicken and husband ordered the burger,food was freshly cooked chicken was lovely and tasty. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely visit again.

Went here with a couple of friends. Lovely restaurant and staff. Had a half parmo and salad with chips which had peri peri salt on which was delicious. Couldn't of ate a full parmo as the half one was big enough and filling. Couldn't fit a sweet in. Was excellent value too at £4.99.

Had a lovely Saturday night out with a big group of friends at Killamanjaros in Middlesbrough. I've often driven past this place but have never really gone in to try their food till now, and we'll all I can say that is was amazing. The chicken was cooked to perfection and sauce was very tasty. The Parmesan was one of the best I've ever had and all the sides of rice, chips, garlic bread were really good. The new manager Mizzy looked after us well and so did all the other friendly staff.I definitely look forward to returning very soon.

I had half a chicken my friend had the parom. Ive first tried this place when it first opened in stockton about 6 years ago and it was fantastic. However not the case anymore the killimanjaros source was full of salt tasted nothing like it used too the chicken was dry and over cooked, i tried the parmo and it was just wrong the bech tasted of raw flour like it hadnt been cooked i had to spit it out not good at all. Overall very dissapointed will not got back agian

We had been looking forward to a meal at Kilimanjaro's and decided to go on bank holiday Monday. The card machine was out of order and the menu was very limited not at all like the on-line menu. It was quiet when we arrived and we ordered straight away. Then people started to arrived and were served before us!! There was only one person serving and clearing tables and our feed was left under the heat lamp for around 10 minutes before it was brought to us. At one point I was even going to go and get my own food. When it arrived all 6 chips that I got were cold. Other dinners got ample meals ours was poor

As you can see from the reviews this place is terrible, and im not one for leaving bad reviews but i cannot leave this experience be, first of all there is 1 waiter so you can guess how the service was, bad. We had to order at the till and pay before! Is this supposed to be Nandos, more like a cheap rip off of the Mandjaro's up the road. Then our starters were left at the table for 1 hour until the food came, the drinks were served in a can, no glass, i think they made us pay before so we dont walk out which would have definitely happened. I would have forgiven them if the main was nice but it was horrible, the chicken on the parmo tasted of coal or something, when it was took of the pan its like they scrapped bit of the pan off, and to be honest it was not even busy, like 5/6 tables of 2/4 people, definitely not going back and i would advise everyone else not to either, disgusting!

Worst food ever!!!! Placed order for takeaway the women who answered couldn't hear as restaurant was so noisy. She didn't no anything about the menu. Picked up our order got it home and it was the wrong order. Phoned them up and had to go all the way back to pick the right order up. Collected the right order and come home to it stone cold. The Parmo was so hard like it had been standing a while. Won't be going back there in a hurry!!!! Waste of money!!!

No problems at all food was nice and staff where great would recommend don't understand why so many people get this place and manjaros mixed up both are good places some people you can't make happy errors happen not the end off the world so stay humble and enjoy.

Came here for the first time yesterday and tried the parmo (half), was so tasty and filling. Waited ages for our order, which was a let down and my sister and cousin tried the chicken burger which was not very nice, seemed processed and not a fillet. Therefore would defo recommend the parmo! Also the address is not correct as this is the old address which is now a similar restaurant called manjaros. The address is 243 linthorpe road.

Interesting selection of fusion food, with little emphasis on authenticity. They do have fried plantain, which is truly African - and tasty too.Funky décor and a busy lively atmosphere, frequented by students from the nearby university.Keep an eye out for special offers which can slash the price of this meal out.For me the seasoning and the presentation of each item we ordered left something to be desired.

On arrival we were not told that the card machine was out of use so we had to leave the 'restaurant' to withdraw cash in the hail after being seated. This was followed by poor service by front of house 'staff' having to take your own orders and ask for your drinks even after you had ordered them. The drinks were served in the can, no glass was offered which you would expect of any standard restaurant. The chef was asked a question by another customer; "what type of steak is it?" and the chef said "I don't know, I'll finish cooking this and then find out", unbelievable. However, the food was served quickly but then we were faced with more disappointment when the food was cremated on the outside and not cooked in the middle. The ceiling then began dripping on us during our 'meal' and our food was served on wood which was warped so the cracks would have been full of bacteria. We do not recommend this 'restaurant' unless you want to be thoroughly disappointed, served cremated yet raw food and pretty much ignored as customers in a cafe with questionable taste in furnishings and 'staff'. Happy Valentines Day to us.

Kilimanjaro next door to DeMelo: We were seated to be told we had to move and then the manager was very rude and said it's for four seated people not 2, I stated that we were seated there as it was a 2 seated table. He started to argue while my child was with me, very unprofessional, I would have left if I hadon't not ordered my food. Staff are unprofessional and one of the bosses is so rude and miserable. The boss told my friends they had 20 minutes to eat as they were closing. They need to do a customer service course, which will help them.

My family and I went here in the Autumn when we heard it had moved to boro, the food was very good I love the marinade on the chicken, the staff were polite and helpful

The parmo's in here are great, by the time I had finished I felt like I had eaten my own weight in food - don't know about the rest of the menu but the staff seem capable, the place is clean and the bill was reasonable. Top meal!

Came here for lunch and had heard nothing but nice things previously.The meal came before the drinks which I don't see as a good thing. The chicken was tasty and tender however the portion size was very small and it came with a scabby portion of chips, very over priced for what it actually was.When going to pay the person at the till said the card machine was down and pointed me in the right direction for a cash machine, just wish this had been advised before I had eaten then I probablys would have saved myself the £35 it cost.Would not return. Ever.

Lovely food for brilliant price!! The service was good but could be better after waiting quite a while for our meals a waitress told us it would be about 5 mins..fine although another waitress came over about a minute later to say it will be 5 mins when we did get our meals with in seconds someone checked on us and then 10 mins later someone was back again obviously lack of communication and team work. Desert bar up stairs was amazing and cheap!! Staff need a little more training and its a little too small!

Good service fab food parmo's are huge brought half home very reasonable in price would recommend only been at tea time so not sure what the atmosphere would be like on a night time but would defo go back.

the deserts upstairs are really good, tasty and quite cheap! the cheesecakes in particular are amaizng!

Have been here a few times and have to say what a lovely restaurant. Food is always cooked perfectly. Staff can't do enough for you and are very smart friendly and professional. The dessert lounge is totally out of this world and have recommended Manjaros to all my friends and family.

Considering it is a very busy resteraunt the service was amazing that i recieved everything was done is a fast as possible amount of time, the parmos are the best thing i have ever eaten and there huge! Was really pleased with the food and service,i would reccomend to anyone.

The customer service here is not the best. BUT the chicken parmo here is unbelievably THE BEST!!!! You just can't get a parmo like that anywhere else,infact where I am these lot don't even know what a chicken parmesan is!??!! BIG UP TO PARMOS BIG UP to my beautiful home town Middlesbrough

Manjaros restaurant simply has the worst customer service I've ever known. Ate here last night with group of 15 friends - though to be totally honest we only ate starters before being asked to leave by the manager. We had a table booked for 8pm and on arrival were told it wouldn't be ready for at least 20 mins as the previous group hadn't yet left - so we offered to go to the pub and come back in 20, which we did. They need to learn how to organise their bookings and how keep to schedule better. On our return we were sat upstairs in a very dark room on the middle of three long tables. We were the first of the three tables to be occupied but last to be fed. Amazingly it was almost 10 o'clock by the time our starters arrived (more than 1 hour after ordering and 2 hours after our booked time) - having asked where they were several times and complained to various staff. Staff weren't especially attentive from the start (took ages to get glasses for our drinks) and didn't seem too bothered by our complaints or think there was a problem with the wait. one tried to make a joke (assume it was a joke) about the starters being 'better late than never'. At this point the manager got involved who seemed to lack any concept of customer service and appeared to prefer to stand and mouth-off at our table. Just full of excuses on why service was so bad - defensive and confrontational rather than apologetic for delay. Then he asked us to leave which we had been on the verge of doing for a while anyway so we happy to go. As we walked through the reception area he was very loud and still aggressive in his speech and had another confrontation with us in front all the other diners. We aren't trouble causers. The people in our group are not the sort who complain for no good reason we were just annoyed firstly at their inability to serve food, then not being able to deal with customers complaints and finally the aggressive way he talked to us. Think they need to stop expanding if they can't cope with the volume of customers they book in. And go on a customer service course! We won't be going back.

We booked the table at least a week in advance. Upon arrival we were asked to come back in 20minutes as there was no space. 20 minutes later we return. A mixed group, ages 20 - 68, we were shown to our table. Starters were ordered, as were drinks for those of us who didn't bring our own. The drinks that were ordered only arrived after a reminder to the waitress....they seemed to have been forgotten. Starters eventually arrived...they were good....probably just about justifying the 1 star that I am forced to give for the review. From there the evening degenerated into farce. A 45 minute wait for main courses took us past 10 o'clock....the manager (I assume) decided to speak to us about the wait(we didn't ask to speak to him, he came to see us!)....this resulted in us being told that he didn't need our money and us being told to leave (to stress...we are not a rowdy group, not a mouthy group of youths, just some middle aged chaps and chappesses hoping to have a meal). What is the point of booking?!?!? Can this place handle a large group?!?!? Can the manager handle customer service?!?!?!? Won't be returning

This was recommended by a friend and I have to admit, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it! It is a busy restaurant, with a lot of young people coming in and out (ideal first date for teenagers!) The menu has a large selection of dishes. It has a little fast food feel to the experience but is cheap and cheerful! It's also BYO up there is a sainsburys a few doors down.The only negative I have found is that the service is a little slow sometimes but if you're not in a rush, there's no problem!

No food complaints, however the service was a complete and utter shambles. Wrong orders, forgotten starters, confusion with simple drink orders (tap water and a coke?) and desserts that are never in stock. This made even more annoying that the FOUR different waitresses who were serving us were never anywhere to be seen!!

I've visited manjaros numerous times and not once could I fault it, I have only ever had parmos/ hot shot parmos here but ever time I get one they are amazing and well presented. I love coming here, the staff are all welcoming and friendly they all ways have a smile on their face to. I once came with my sister and her boyfriend and my nephew was crying he was only 1 at the time we couldn't really stop him from screaming becUse all he wanted to do is run around but one of the girls who worked there was so nice to us and my nephew loved her she was trying to entertain him and was lovely she gave him a lolly and he stopped crying, when everyone was looking and frowning in restaurant the staff were very kind and did not once ask us to be quite. I've been with friends a few times to and I have loved it every time but next time I go which will be next week! I will try something different because it all looks so tasty.

I often come to this place as thought was fantastic reasonably priced lovely food and generous portions but last time I came it was awful parmesans have no bechamel sauce Just a lot of cheese and the portions seem to have shrunk and the cornflake tart was terrible it was as though somebody had poured stale cornflakes on top just hope that it is going to get back to how it used to be staff are very welcoming apart from the tall dark haired one who looks very unhappy and walks around with a upside down smile makes people feel quite uneasy as when you smile at her your met with a glare

If you like a relaxed atmosphere , a great shisha and good service, come here. Go upstairs and enjoy a comfy lounge, groovy tunes and quality shisha this is the place. I've smoked shisha around the Middle East and this is a good shisha lounge with full selection of flavours.

100% great place to grab food that's fresh and tasty with friendly staff. We stumbled across this place whilst working in Middlesborough. My Initial reaction was it's a Nandos wanna be but after eating there I'd say its far better value than Nandos. The food we ordered Waka Waka chicken with bbq sauce was delicious. (I'd recommend it with sauce on the side! It tastes fantastic, very fresh.)Manjaros has a good selection of food on the menu and a great dessert menuThe cornflake tart was a little disappointing with custard lumps the size of cobble stones. And also if you're in a hurry, prob order a take out as service, altho very polite and informative isn't rapid. I'd highly recommend this place to eat. Enjoyable relaxing atmosphere with a salsa twist (odd as its afro Jamaican theme)

I recently visited Manjaros dessert restaurant (above main chicken restaurant, Linthorpe Road) and being a sweet dessert fiend I thought it would be heavenly. Unfortunately not.From the off set we sat down at a dirty table, booth. A staff member then came over to wipe it pushing any crumbs on the floor and shrugged off the scabby job she did.We then placed our orders whereby the main waitree (supervisior, server, cleaner, telephone receptionist, admin - SHE DID EVERYTHING) took our order whilst on the phone so we were apprehensive we would have a mixed up order, having said that, we waited happily.We sat for over 40 minutes, waiting patiently as we watched staff run around like crazy. We anticiapted our desserts (1 sundae and 1 waffles) and milkshake coming to our table but they went to a nearby booth. The wait continued.We watched staff scoop icecream and then lick their fingers and continue to prep desserts using their hands to scoop out toppings. Staff were disposing of rubbish on the floor, such as blu roll, plastic wrappers, basic safety breaches. How someone didntn have a near miss I will never no.And licking the fingers! Really!! We watched 2 seperate staff members do this so I guess it must be the norm!! Appalling!Never the less, we had our desserts nearly 1 hr later and our milkshake arrived 10 after that. As we guessed, our desserts were wrong, we chose to have no cream on 1 and a different sauce on another. We decided to say nothing, we had waited long enough.The puddings themselves were okay, nothing to shout about but it filled our sugar craving. All in all a very average visit.If you turn a blind eye to the basic hygiene and health and safety. I cringe thinking about it.Needless to say we will not be back, but visit at your own risk!

Visited here recently for lunch. We were seated really quickly and a member of staff came over to take our drinks order. I ordered a chicken salad which was really tasty (although slightly disappointing that the lettuce was only iceberg). However we had cheesecake and ice cream for dessert which was the best we have ever tasted! Overall, very friendly and attentive staff, very reasonably priced and tasty food! Will be returning soon!

Went in mid week and was told by a green haired waitress that if we "bought a Main, you would get a free dessert" as part of Middlesbrough Restaurant Week.With that said, we ordered chicken dishes from the main menu. A few of the chicken piece were undercooked and the chips were only luke warm at best. The sauce they use was very skimpy and we had to ask for some more.A different waitress came to take the order for the desserts, but told us that we needed to order a Starter to qualify for the free dessert.... After pointing out what we were initially told, she agreed to honour the deal as promised previously.We were given the dessert menus and then forgotten about... 20 minutes later, the 3 waitresses did not come over once, they were too busy yapping or cleaning tables. We just got up and paid for the mains and left without the desserts.The place is an absolute joke, no organization, nobody keeping an eye on the staff, nobody looking out for any customers waiting to see attended too. The waiting times, even when the place is empty is astonishing poor.Manjaros started off as a good place when it originally opened, but the eye has been taken off the ball. The food, the service, the staff and the waiting times have all gone downhill quicker than a skier on a Mountain.

My family and I visited last week, the resteraunt was extremely quiet... Not many people in at all. Having said this we waited a good 30 minutes for our beverages when finally a waitress came over to clarify what drinks we had ordered. We went on to waiting around another 15 minutes for our drinks and around an hours wait for our food which was ok however it's extremely over rated I was quite disappointed as I've had better take away meals from my local parmo house. As for the customer service in this place it's just simply horrific. Monkeys could do a better job. Over all I would not recommend and I will not be returning.

We go here often and have never been disappointed, we went Nye as a last minute decision and didn't have to wait long for a table, we always order the same but it is always delicious and the staff have always been really good

My girl fiend has been studying in Middlesbrough for the past 2 years. I go over every 2 to 3 weeks and we have to go to this place every weekend, it is great. Food is great and service is great.

Visited tonight. Restaurant was quite quiet, we were seated straight away and the waitresses were attentive. Food didn't take too long to come and was well presented and tasted great. Only thing was our food arrived before our drinks despite us asking three times. Price is great, the place has got the feel of a canteen/restaurant which I liked. We'll be returning

Just popped in after the Cinema. Was busy, but still got seated quickly. Food came really quite quickly, and was excellent. Had the mixed Grill for sharing... Superb! U must try this dish.

Usually go to nandos but gave this place a try. Had to que for a while but it hadn't been open long. The food was gorgeous. The sauce was lovely and the chicken cooked to perfection. There was no alcohol sold on the premises but a sainsburys next door was available to byo.

We both are unlocal to the Teesside area, Katie is from Manchester & Adam is from Cambridge and we both agree Manjaros is the reason people should visit Middlesbrough!! Since discovering Manjaros we go there on every single visit and more! This week w/c 22/06/2015 we had it twice in a row! It's just that good! We personally recommend any dish that is served in their own specialty Manjaro Sauce. We go for Waka Waka Chicken and Lamb Chops for mains both amazing - both coated in the sauce and you can even add some more as its on every table!! We advise you also do this! Also, great customer service, all of the waiters and waitresses are lovely AND bonus, every one of them are beautiful ladies and men! The desserts and starters are also amazing, but the main is always a favourite! Also, Manjaros are opening up their very own Shisha Lounge and Dessert Bar very soon since expending! This is just how popular it is!!

Visited here this evening with work friends for the first time. Food was absolutely gorgeous, reasonably priced, loads of choice and great portions. Salad was very fresh and nice touch of garlic mayo in bottles on tables. Staff very friendly and helpful. We were all agreed that we would definitely revisit.

The food here is fab. Good prices and lots of options. Staff are always friendly and attentive. However, takeaway pick ups are only available after 9pm. This is hideous. Either offer this at dinner time or stop it completely.

Been to kilimanjaros in Middlesbrough twice now and loved the food each time, had chicken on both occasions which was cooked to perfection and had a great flavour with the use of their sauces and spices. No complaints about the food. However the layout of the restaurant could be improved as the tables are all cramped together in tight spaces so it feels like you are sat on other peoples tablets. Also if you sit next to the window you get blinded by the sun and get incredibly hot, although the staff were happy to move us when we complained about the sun.

Came here for 1st time tonite with family and had starters then main and decided to go whole hog n have dessert......that was until waitress told us no ice-cream togo with cheesecake so ok with that to be then told no cornflake cake!!!!!!why are these popular desserts not well stocked up!!!!!!!!

A group of us came for lunch at the Middlesbrough restaurant a couple of weeks ago after it being recommended to us. We were all well attended to and most people really enjoyed their food. One of my friends found her food to have masses of oil in her pasta dish, but other than that everyone else enjoyed it. The atmosphere is homely and relaxed and the prices are very reasonable with good portion sizes.

After pondering for quite a while about where to me and my friends decided to go here as the food is always of good standard and is tasty! The food was lovely, service not so good. First I had a starter of nachos which were delightful however, slightly burnt! For my main I had mixed skewers which were equally as good, perhaps even better especially as I had them with the sauces! However, the blonde waitress was rather rude when serving the food and slammed it down on the table. Also, another waitress was chewing gum while she served us which in my eyes is unacceptable behaviour whilst at work. I think the waitress' in Manjaros need a sprinkle of happiness as they always look moody. Despite these problems, the food tastes excellent as always however my friends were not so happy with the minimal choice of deserts available despite the menu saying otherwise.

A fantastic alternative to Nandos, recently undergone an extension! The restaurant is unlicensed so remember to byob! Meals are extremely reasonable and we always leave thinking we've underpaid! Take away signature sauces would make my year!

I always go here! I live it! Love the food, lover the people... good prices and good times. I love it that much that I also get takeaways from the place. Can't wait to trying out their new ice-cream bar!!! Whether you're a group of friends, family or couple you'll enjoy it...i've been as all...Go go go! Just go! Enjoy

Visiting boro to meet a friend who I had not seen for years and decided to try Manjaros as many people had recommend it. The young girls waiting were all really attentive and realised that my friend and I had lots to talk about so were mindfull of this and gave us space to chat. The decor wasnt very impressive but was simple and clean. No corkage on the wine so that was good. I was not very hungry so just had a starter - king prawns and they were awesome however the rice tasted like it was out of a packet of savoury rice [like nandos] but the sauce was delicious. No salt fish or akee though or mac and cheese???. Lovely waitresses - hot food well presented and overall a nice experience.

This place is always very busy as it does supposedly make the best parmo in teesside. It's a chicken restaurant with not much else to it, but they do let you bring your own bottle which is pretty enjoyable. I like the chilled vibes and the simple food.

All are food was terrible I complained and was told that how they serve ther food and I can have 10% discount we had 5 meals and ther was a problem with everyone's meal I don't think we will rush back ther
