Terrible, never again. I ordered an eggs benadict, costing 8.50. I’m vegetarian and it wasn’t advertised as having meat (pork bacon) i wasn’t advised when purchasing and advised the young waitress that we wasn’t aware when the food arrived, she offered to remove the just the bacon and give us the remaining item, I advised no due to dietary requirements (halal). The waitress went back and spoke to the manager who advised her that I would need to purchase again if I wanted a new one without bacon. I turned it away and didn’t purchase a new one. I went back to speak to the manager. she was sorry and if she was our waitress then she wouldn’t have charged us. I saw the young waitress asking her at the time, however the manager apologised and offered to give us a new eggs Benedict, I advised no, as we’re finished and had to head home. She said next time we come she would give us one - free of charge. I advised I would not be returning. Absolute terrible service. Customer service was appalling. Please avoid. Overpriced food.

Sometimes pop in here for a coffee and bacon sandwich. Not bad place for a spot of brunch too! Little pricey but nice.

Asked for a regular coffee but was given a mug instead of a cup even tho cups were there, staff had no customer service skills and of course the toilet was conveniently out of order.

called in for a rest , had to order at counter , the girl did say she would bring our order to our table i had to go back to the counter and collect my wifes coffee our plates were delivered to our table , with out salt and no sauce had to go and find where they were i noticed they had the audacity to have a cup on the counter for tips can i ask what for there excellent service ?

Terrible service rude staff, young girl tried to serves us couldn’t make eye contact and at best just grunted at us. Tables not cleaned and not busy staff just treating it like a social club rather than working if my better half hadn’t already paid I would of walked out. Would not recommend terrible experience

For various reasons completely out of our control my wife and I haven't been to Esquires for some time. Popped in yesterday and really enjoyed the visit. It's somewhat different now the opening to Clinton's shop has been walled up. Got to say it's better for it. Feels more cosy and self contained. Staff very efficient and pleasant as usual. Lots of choice, all at reasonable prices.

Glad they’re back. We always visited here pre-lockdown as a family for lunch and a coffee and always loved it. Just opened back up for the first time since lockdown and please to say it’s as good as ever. Had a delicious bacon roll complemented by a lovely homemade cake. Hand sanitizer available on entry and tables well spaced to enable social distancing. Would strongly recommend a visit 👍🏼

This is an expensive coffee house for what it is, it's just had a refurbishment looks like the customer is paying for it, the prices have increased significantly. Didn't realise I had paid £2.40 for the smallest toasted tea cake I have ever seen. Staff are polite because they have to be.

I love this place even when the fire alarm keeps going off and you can't hear yourself think, in my case not a bad thing. Great coffee, great staff, I'm going at least twice a week. If I have a meeting this is now where I suggest. I can't speak highly enough of Esquires

Visited after lunch on a quiet Monday. We found the service to be badly organised - you order and pay for your food/drink at the counter then find a seat. When your drink is ready a staff member shouts out ‘two lattes’ or ‘ one americano’ etc. If you don’t hear the call, your drink is left, unless a staff member puts the drinks on a tray and comes around shouting your order. Then a similar procedure is followed for food orders. Even on this quiet Monday we waited almost ten minutes for our food and drink. When the drinks came we found the quality of the coffee to be average at best, and the food expensive and pretty tasteless. There are several coffee stops within a few minutes walk - in future we will use one of them.

Basic cafe next to card shop on linthorpe road opposite Next in Middlesbrough. Service ok, layout average. Food is a bit like what you would get in Costa. Good range of cake but I got the orange cake which was a bit dry. Nice flat white, seemed smaller than average but good coffee blend.

For various reasons, my wife and I haven’t been able to pop into Esquires for a short while. At last, we got the chance the other day and we enjoyed the visit. Well set out, clean and tidy, decent choice, good prices, and friendly staff. What more do you want?

Called here whilst having a break from shopping,sat on back wall plenty of choice as was no one in.had drinks and breakfast rolls and was good quality food they ask if you want sauce on buns but cheap brown sauce no hp come on its a British classic also in corner we sat near plant on floor adjoining furniture near Clinton cards shop .it was dusty and a few cobwebs so a clean there please.place is recently refurbished due to flooding from ceiling last year.decent small menu choice but mug of tea quite expensive £2.10 but service from young blonde hair girl good.plenty of choice of eateries in Boro so prob give a miss next time.

I came to the city to visit it, and I had a coffe in this lovely coffe shop. The place is very nice, also the coffe. But I didn't have a good experience with the staff. The oldest waitress (I would say she is the manager), shouted at me twice very rudely, to stop me to go to the toilet, as they were cleaning it. There are ways and ways to say the same thing. Cero respect with the costumers.

I placed my order to the most friendly staff with my favourate tea from here (lemongrass and ginger) the advocado brunch was very good and very prompt. Well done staff.

Had drinks and cake here with my wife today,better friendly service drinks decent and plenty of choice good quality stuff.prices reasonable and quick service also very clean tables etc.

Visit this store with my mum since my mum is a regular in here. The coffee in here can be a hit and miss depends on who makes your drinks. The food in here is tasty and they have a lot more food options before they had they make over. The layout of this store is great and you can sit here and do your work while you are having your drink. The staff in here friendly and the staff make sure that they tables are kept clean which is good.

Best flat white I’ve had in ages. Hot chocolate pretty good too! Cakes a bit average but friendly staff, good find!

Called in whilst xmas shopping for a break ,had a butty and drinks was ok nowt flash yes the place had a lick of paint inside.have to collect drinks even though got told would bring over but food was delivered.quite empty seats a bit small .food ok drinks good .overall average.

Every time I visit this place it's lovely! Food and drink always spot on. Standards always the same and never drop. Staff always friendly, helpful and polite.

Went here today with family as haven't been here for long time as trying out new coffee shops etc in town but was quiet here and plenty of empty seats,had food and drink and it was nice .reasonably priced and decent staff ,maybe could do with it brightening up a bit as lots of competition now.

Nice sandwiches, and great coffee. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and go the extra mile to make our stay and enjoyable one. Its always quite full which is testament to how popular the place is

Mi esposa y yo siempre entrara a un café con leche y un bocadillo rápido cuando en el centro de la ciudad de Middlesbrough. Probablemente es la casa más cordial de café de la zona. El personal es muy agradable, el servicio es bueno, los precios son razonables y los alrededores generales están bien. En general, un buen lugar para entrar y relajarse.

I used to love this cafe, but one lady who works there, blonde hair in a pony tail, does not know how to make coffee, I always avoid going in when she is making the coffee, the others are great, the owner and her son make great coffee and the young girls that work the weekend also, but this blonde lady, the coffee tastes like mouthwash, if that's possible

A real nice place to put the shopping bags down and enjoy a good cup of coffee and a nice piece of cake!

Well worth a visit. This is arguably the best coffee shop in Middlesbrough. Consistent in quality and the service is great.

Fui con mi amigo a mitad de camino de un viaje de compras. que ella sugirió este lugar y me alegré de probarlo. Este es sin duda uno de los mejores cafés de calidad en Middlesbrough. Fuimos a las 1:30 y estaba muy concurrida, pero el personal era muy amable y eficiente a la hora de mantener la cola movimiento y pudimos encontrar un sitio para sentarte inmediatamente. Tuve una botella 330 ml de vidrio de coca cola en £1.50 y una gran porción de tarta de zanahoria a £2,60 . considero que es una buena relación calidad-precio y realmente disfruté del pastel. Mi amigo tenía un café, un bocadillo y blueberry muffin cheesecake que ella lo disfrutamos mucho.

I always pop into this coffee house when in Middlesbrough. The coffee choices are really good and the snacks are also worth a try. The staff make you feel like part of the family, they are so welcoming.
