Kiko Sushi & Yakitori in Tunbridge Wells

KIKO has been our favorite spot for a while now. Dinning in or take aways, it’s always as good as it can get. Beside the amazing fresh fish they are always happy to accommodate mine and my partners order preferences (extra philadelphia 😂). We’ve recommend this place to so many friends and family, and if you are in doubt, think no longer. Muito obrigada guys and até logo!!!! 🇧🇷🍣❤️

Good quality of food and service, we went there regularly for the past year, but recently with dramatically increased of price and I can easily find elsewhere with better value, and we won’t go there again.

Fantastic fresh sushi set in a very traditional style Japanese restaurant, made me feel like I was back in Osaka. Staff were amazing. Flavours exceptional. Will be back!

Excellent food and attentive staff - we loved our meal!

I happily recommend Kiko and I am looking forward to returning! My suggestions are the momo yakitori - very sweet and pleasant seasoning, the spider salmon dragon roll - extremely nice and crunchy, and the unagi dragon roll - the eel is worth it!

The food was incredible, especially the lava roll and unagi nigiri. We were blown away by the quality of everything and will be back for sure. It felt a bit weird to be asked at 9.30 if we wanted our bill, but maybe that is their process to get you out by 10pm. It was a shame the staff didn’t have a lot of knowledge about the menu and couldn’t answer our questions about the food. But that didn’t take away from a lovely visit.

Fantastic sushi, good value and always really fresh! Been many times and has always been consistent. Will be back again soon.

This menu was very well presented and very tasteful. We have attended with our kids this afternoon. The service has been excellent. The flavors have improved since our last visit. The food was remarkably good.

I always bring people here to celebrate a special occasion as the food is extraordinary, the vibe takes us back to our holiday in Japan perfectly. Either dine in or take away, Kiko Sushi & Yakitori is my favourite spot in Tunbridge wells.

The food tasted great and had a platter with a selection of items. Although we could not try everything on the large menu this visit, we’re looking forward go another visit soon and we’re confident it will all taste amazing.

Delicious food, great service. Only ever sat downstairs which is quite small, looking forward to seeing the upstairs.

Kiko is our favourite restaurant - the food is outstanding every time. Fabulous, fresh and tasty sushi, the best sashimi anywhere, the special rolls are absolutely delicious, as is the tempura, and the grills. We have never had anything less than excellent food there. Service is also great - Andrea always does us proud!

A delicious and clean place to take a break

Came here for my sister’s birthday last weekend and cant believe I haven’t checked it out before! We ordered a selection of dishes to share and everything we got was incredible. The service was fast and professional with lovely friendly waitresses! We had this truffle chicken sushi which was out of this world. I can’t wait to return, a must try in Tunbridge wells!

Our second time coming to Kiko and honestly the service and food were just as amazing as we remembered. Helpful staff, really quick service and incredible food!

The sushi was very nice, the sashimi and the noodles not as much, everyone was polite but the place is a bit chaotic, quite expensive.

Having been to Kiko well over a dozen times now, we enjoyed another stellar meal here in June 2024. Excellent quality ingredients, delicious sushi, and friendly service - what more could you ask for?

I've only been once, but I am a sushi fan and this experience did not disappoint. Excellent fresh food and good selection of drinks. We had a birthday celebration meal and the 4 of us were happy. Edit: went again. There were 5 of us. Amazing meal upstairs.

Kiko is a lovely little sushi restaurant, here’s some of things that I think makes this place a winner: 1. The food is prepared fresh and surprisingly quickly too (everything tasted incredible). 2. The staff are helpful and approachable. 3. The restaurant itself has a really nice vibe, it’s not a big restaurant so it doesn’t get super loud and they really tried to make it feel like Japan which I think they succeeded at. Would highly recommend this place to sushi and Japanese food lovers

My brother in law was back from Italy and fancied sushi, we decided on Kiko Tunbridge Wells, the food was exceptional, and was super fresh and tasty, The staff are fantastic, friendly, and helpful! I will definitely return and recommend to friends!!!

Hands down the best place to come in Tunbridge wells,if not Kent!! Great service,the most fantastic food & even if u don’t think u would like Sushi… u will if u come here. Just give Kiko a try.

I love sushi, have been to many sushi restaurants, predominantly in London, this is possibly my favourite sushi restaurant now. I rarely leave reviews but the food at Kiko is straight-up sensational. The smoky complexity of the lava dragon roll is mouth-wateringly delicious and I'm going to return again and again to sample as much of their menu as I can.

Very traditional feel, delicious food.

Love this spot for safe coeliac/gluten free eating. They have a dedicated gf frier and most of the menu can be done gluten free. Their sister site Kitsu is also highly knowledgeable about allergies however don’t have the dedicated frier so has less selection

Fast pace sushi yakitori kitchen. Nice staff on site. Nice flavors, nice decoration. Condescending and rude for booking it on the phone. Otherwise all good

This is a lovely restaurant for Sushi, it was absolutely delicious!!! We really enjoyed it and I would return. The seating could be really difficult if you get the wrong table. You have to kind of lower yourself down to floor level as your legs need to go into a cut out area under the table. Fine once you get there (although no backrests) but tricky getting down and then getting back up again if you are middle aged like me!!!!!!

Food was ok.. too much fried fish in a dish that should be naturally RAW ( Japanese food!) . What I really did not appreciated was the fact that we were. 4 ppl who ordered different food and we ended up eating in a common plate .. ( like dogs) . No point ordering different dishes if everything gets served in one or two pots and you kind of struggling to remember what you asked for ( it is not a chicken a rice dish .. names can be complicated to remembered ) I am Italian and I tried MANY MANY Japanese restaurants; this is definitely a place I will not come back again.. Last but not least … it is advisable to NOT set time for dining.. I found it quite rude .. although I knew about this clause. I tried, I did not like it and if you guys are looking for a long night of chat relaxing with some good food, go somewhere else. They give you the count down ( you got 20 mins left…)

Never had Japanese food before. It was amazing. Great restaurant.

The food at Kiko is delicious, and we felt it was reasonably priced. We loved the ceviche (great presentation!), and the agedashi tofu. We also had two types of uramaki roll, and the seaweed salad; all very good. We liked the upstairs seating arrangement (though in Japan you would be expected to remove your shoes before climbing up onto the platform!) Despite it being a very wet winter night, the restaurant was nearly full, and there was a good atmosphere. I didn't get particularly friendly vibes from the servers, but service was certainly efficient, and food came quite quickly.

Pretty great small sushi place. The service was professional with some personal touch. The food was fresh, well presented and to our taste. We are pretty regular here now.

I rarely write negative comments, so please take it as constructive criticism. Granted, I didn't expect authentic Japanese cuisine in this part of the UK, yet the food was simply too salty. Focusing on just the tuna Gunkan sushi. I couldn't even taste the tuna. Meanwhile, the chicken skin wasn't served in a skewer, instead it was served in a dish like cereal in heavy seasoning. The presentation wasn't too pleasing, and I didn't finish it. Hopefully, you guys will resolve the salty issue soon.

I came with my mum the other day and loved it! We’re used to good sushi restaurants but this really took us by surprise. The salmon carpaccio was the highlight, but we also had temaki hand rolls, uramaki and miso aubergine which were all great too. I’m gluten intolerant and they offer heaps of different options, so if you’re worried about being fed as a coeliac, don’t be! Super friendly staff too, and attentive service from the waiters and waitresses. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, or to be looked after. Couldn’t recommend enough! 5/5 stars ⭐️

Let’s just start by saying what an awful experience we had…. What a shame, as we have come hear many times for a year or so. We have booked a table of 4 to meet with friends and we was placed on a bad table by the door staring at a gray wall…. The resturant appeared very busy and the poor staff were over worked.. we sat down and orderd started and a drink each and was left unattended 40 minutes without them clearing our plates, when asking to order our main dishes manager then told us we couldn’t order anymore due to “time” but could get a takeaway (we came to have a meal not get a takeaway) the manager then became very rude and was unprofessional towards us. We booked and came for a meal and left with hungry stomachs and a ban to come back to KIKO … what a shame I would not recommend this place, the food was very overpriced. Not happy with the manager at all…. Be professional next time.

Very nice restaurant and the food are really good

The food in this Japanese restaurant is superb and I have always given it 5 stars in the past. However this visit was marred by the fact that were served an incorrect bottle of wine, not what was on the menu and the waitress, the supervisor and ultimately the manager tried to tell us that Pouilly Fume was the same as Pouilly Fuisse, the latter being a French White Burgundy and the former being a French Loire Sauvignon Blanc wine which I particularly dislike. Clearly the manager of the restaurant had no idea what she was doing, because she said that the wine supplier had said that they were the same. We ended up with a perfectly satisfactory Planeta Etna from Sicily but that did not prevent me from being extremely irritated by having to argue with the staff. Not as good as it used to be.

Great sushi experience. Generous portions and fresh rolls prepared with high quality ingredients. What I didnt like is the seating setup/design upstairs. Not comfortable and if I was still pregnant at the time we visited, i wouldn’t have been able to sit on those seats. Also, something i saw that i didn’t like which is one of the waiters standing on the cushion on the seat to clean the table! Photos of seating attached

Great dining experience upstairs with Japanese style sunken bench seating. Very relaxed atmosphere. Sushi and Yakatori were delicious and the noodle dishes to end equally good. Couldn’t really fault it. Will definitely return!

I called in the afternoon to make the booking, and let the staff member know we had a young child - no problem it seemed. When we arrived the waitress gave us an extremely cold welcome, quite literally sneering at our (well behaved) 2 year old son. We were told we could only dine upstairs, and there was no option for a high chair. Needless to say we had to leave and find somewhere else. Given the largely positive reviews, this was a staggeringly poor experience. Maybe the food is good, but we didn’t get that far. Clearly not a family friendly experience.
