Khushboo in South Northamptonshire

We have been a number of times when visiting the area. The owner is full of life and a fun character. At our request he chose our menu which was marvelous. Lots of fun and laughter, will be back again

Not very polite when ordering a take a way, felt like my money was not good enough !! Not sure I will be going back to this establishment

Terrible service and completely rude. The owner is socially awkward and has very poor customer service skills. In two visits I’ve witnessed arguments with customers twice.

Decided to visit as my daughter is an F1 fan and we knew that some drivers and presenters have used this restaurant before. The stories and ambiance was great but the food was absolutely AWESOME. I have eaten Indian food all around the world but this was the best ever. Compliments to the chef. I had the Bakara and it was amazing. Thanks to the owner, my family and myself had a lovely evening. Visited the restaurant as the best Indian restaurant in Brackley (Dhan Shiri) was closed. I’ve lived locally for 25 years and we used to use this restaurant. I honestly thought we had walked into a hidden camera film set or a Karen’s dinner Indian version restaurant. As we walked in, the decor hadn’t changed in 20 years and the owner / waiter was arguing with a customer. He showed us to a table where there were reviews written on a white board, ‘turn around and go and eat at the fish and chip shop’ and loads more. His rudeness and abruptness was unbelievable, it was as if he didn’t want us there. We ordered the food and drinks but after the experience, drank half the drinks paid and left. If he wants to run a rude edgy restaurant, that’s fine but make it clear so you know what your getting or he shouldn’t be customer facing. Looking forward to going back to the dhan shiri and avoid this place at all costs!

Excellent food and experience. Go with an open mind and embrace the atmosphere and the owner/waiter/barman (he plays almost as many roles as John Cleese in the Life of Brian) and give the owner as good as he gives back! Never laughed so much in a restaurant ever, thanks for the great food and entertainment.

Think carefully before booking. You must be prepared to speak very quickly and waste none of the restaurant staff's time! My experience went along the lines of: " 'ello?" "Hi, I'd like to book a table please." Pause.. "Hello?" "Yeah". "Hi, yes, is that the Kushboo?" Another long pause. "What? Stop taking so long, you're wasting my time!" "Sorry, I wasn't sure I had the right number!" "Stop wasting time, right. You just want to book a table?" "Well, I'm not sure I do any more. Thankyou, Goodbye." The chap from the restaurant actually called me back to repeat that he thought I was wasting his time and I shouldn't talk so slowly!! I hung up on him. UNBELIEVABLE!

I WOULD AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS!!The Owner/waiter is extremely rude. I’ve been to the restaurant on several occasions over the last 10 years with friends and family and every time I leave angry with how awful he is to honest paying customers. The food generally is average and there are far better Indian restaurants throughout Brackley town. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!

The owner is sooooooo rude it beggers belief he still get customers. He practically threw us out for asking after 1.5 hours how much longer the food will be. There are much much nicer places to eat. Frankly this owner does not deserve your business. He is aggressive, rude and frankly quite threatening. Just do not give him your money!!!

New Year’s Eve meal, delicious food and a very enjoyable evening. It’s great to eat in a restaurant where the emphasis is on the food and the owner takes the time to advise customers on the dishes being chosen. Vegetable Thali was superb, the whole evening was enjoyable and thank you for your hospitality.

Been going here for over 25 years, but alas will no longer do so even though the food is superb. Went in last night, my wife payed the bill, later she tells me it was £64.50 I went back and challenged that, and I am afraid the owner dismissed this just like that. By my reckoning it should have been just under £50. Mistakes happen, but to dismiss this without even checking is absurd especially as he has had a loyal customer for so long😡

Food is great, but the owner is ridiculously rude and puts the phone down on you when you try to book a table! Also brought the wrong curry out and refused to change it for the one we ordered. Go elsewhere unless you like terrible service!

I’d like to say that my meal was bloody lovely the workers were very polite and I would 100% go again many many times . There is only 1 thing that stood out to me in a negative way and that was the tall blonde young man that gave me a lot of backchat after using to much hand sanitizer (#StayClean) other then this little catastrophe I would highly recommend

Not keen on writing negative reviews. Visited this restaurant a few months ago; the owner was chatty and charming and the food was good so all was well. Returned last week and it was a completely different experience. The owner was abrupt and very unfriendly and we had no idea if we had offended him in some way. He welcomed regular customers in an extremely jovial manner though- which made his coldness to us feel worse! We left after the meal as soon as we could. The food was probably fine, but it wasn’t a pleasant atmosphere to be in. I’m sure the owner won’t mind that we won’t be returning.

My partner and I had a meal here last night. I've been a number of times but it was her first visit. Although a regular customer I had a quick look at the reviews on here prior to taking my nearest & dearest ( who has quite high standards !! ) I was a little shocked to read the " Marmite" nature of the reviews. Basically, the owner has been here for ever and is happy with his business but does not suffer fools in any way at all ! If you treat him and his restaurant with respect you will find him easy to get on with and good company. And the food is superb ! We both had starters and mains and all four dishes were fantastic. I also requested a garlic rice ( not on the menu ! ) which was excellent. My partner felt that this was the Indian meal she had had in years ! Highly recommend, just go !

Rang to place an order for delivery, instead of having a courtesy to allow a change of plan to collection they simply said “we don’t deliver” & just hung up. Tried to ring again to explain collection was fine but did not even respond on the first attempt. Answered the second time to say “we don’t deliver”...

Ordered a collection for 8.30pm Saturday evening, quite busy when we went to collect.

We stopped in here on the offchance to see if they had a table - we had been once before, a long time ago. They had several tables left but there were three groups already seated, two of four or five and one of nine. The waiter/manager is always joking and trying to put people at ease, and he recognised us from a previous visit more than a year before, which was welcoming. I can understand how his banter and 'fake' gruff manner seems a bit offputting to some, but he does a terrific job of being barman, waiter, takeaway manager and server. The food, as on our prior visit, was absolutely outstanding (if in doubt about what to have, you simply must try the pakoras with cheese for a starter) but due to the large and noisy group taking everybody's attention (I've never seen a group take 8 cigarette breaks during a 2-hour meal before!), the food did take a long time to arrive. However the quality of the food simply can't be beaten, it really is superb, and so once we had something to eat we were very happy with our experience here.

Got up from my table, got told to sit down, which I replied no, he said go away then. I said can I have a beer he said when I’m ready. Food was terrible. Never go there!

Recently added to the menu is a fish dish. Just ask for the fish. Medium spiced, it works best with a plain rice and a cold beer. Naan not for this one. Honestly, I believe you will never want it to end.

I called to ask if they had a vegan menu.I was told it was too much hassle and they had re moved the dishes from the menu before I could ask any more questions he said good bye and put the phone down. Very rude and doesn't deserve to have custom.

Called in with no booking, owner was very welcoming. Food was lovely, and delivered hot and fresh to the table. Very reasonably priced compared to many others, and although the interior was perhaps a little dated, it was very authentically Indian (happy childhood memories :) )

We have been using this restaurant for about 25 years and without doubt in our opinion this has the tastiest Indian food in the town.

Without a doubt best Indian food in town (and there is a lot of these resteraunts) The naan breads are amazing. All the dishes are fresh and full of flavour. The monkfish curry its amazing and something a little different. The internet is certainly a character but we love him for that.

Tried to eat here last night. Walked in with 5 other friends on the off chance they might have a table. Asked the owner if he could accommodate 6 to be greeted with what can only be defined as possibly the rudest person in Brackley! I understand he was possibly busy but he just looked at me, turned round walking off saying ‘no’. Nothing else! I didn’t bother to ask if there might be table available shortly. Needless to say I won’t be trying this place again. Avoid if you want friendly customer service!!

There is a singular lack of waiting staff - the owner does it all single handed, so it's sometimes a little slow, but always worth waiting for. He mixes his own spices and the result is spectacular. If you're in a hurry, go for take away, but if you enjoy a leisurely meal eatingwith lots of locals and Silverstone drivers, this is the place for you.

I love my Asian quinine and while knowing what I like I have been spoiled by some rather incredible restaurants in my local area.On a visit to family in Northants we were taken very kindly to Khushboo.Very jokey comments on the wall about clients comments but the meal I had was so bland and average.Maybe next time I should try something stronger to judge again

I am not sure if this is the best restaurant of its type in Brackley or not. I believe there are several others. To be honest I have never felt the need to try the others. Brilliantly managed. Highest quality cuisine. Great wine list. Generous portions. Quality atmposphere. Faultless experience every time.

Stumbled upon this place. What a great surprise ! We were there early , glad we were as there were already 3 tables occupied , I guess from the reviews this place is popular .

I visit Kushboo frequently after first visiting a year ago. I've always enjoyed the food and the owner has got to know what you like he always makes sure that's how you get it. can only assume the people who say its rubbish are the same ones who are easily offended and want to be cuddled as they eat their food. I've found many of the negative reviews amusing. If you understand the owner and get to know him, he is a very loyal and funny character.

We visited some friends in Blisworth and decided to get a cab here, as they had heard great things about it. Goodness knows why.

Brilliant service, owner has a great personality and sense of humour. Had a lovely meal, definitely our favourite place to go. We will be returning.

Paid £100 deposit to reserve table for 10. Two backed out. Spent over £200 and bill arrived with £80 discount. Paid the bill less £100 and owner threatened to knock me out. Also said we wouldn’t do this if this was a white restaurant. Absolutely disgusted. Avoid at all costs.

Food was delicious and made by the manager who had great banter. Really good atmosphere and good food.

Decided to try a takeaway from this place and ordered some main courses, side dishes and a naan bread. The grease was flowing out of the bag the bread came in and the main courses were swimming in grease. Yuk. The meal was tasteless overall and we didn't finish the meal - we through it in our slops bin.

The overwhelming thing about this place is the high quality food supplied and the manner in which it is served.the proprietor is a man of repartee and certainly makes dining there a great pleasure.It is certainly the place to go for an enjoyable evening or celebration.All of our guests thought it great. Just stopped by on the off chance and glad we did. The food was amazing and the service was too. The guy who served us was very friendly and welcoming and looked like it was a popular reataurant with the locals as when we were there he got quite busy and seemed to know everyone as they ate there quite regularly.

Quality food served 'straight up' - no beating about the bush and by the end of the evening we had realised that our first impression of the 'arrogant owner' actually dissipated into the making of a new friend and the owner of a finely run establishment... which we will most certainly visit again... The owner knew most of the customers by name and the banter between them definitely lightened our evening - so five stars from us and like a previous poster said 'the owner is like marmite' - good thing we like marmite!!!

No welcome, from the owner/waiter, never mind a warm one. Had booked a table for 5, for a family birthday party, not seeing one on the menu I asked if he had any alcohol free beer or ginger beer, and was very abruptly told ' you get what you see in the menu and nothing else'! We paid for the two drinks already ordered, and received, and promptly left. I have never ever witnessed or personally encountered anyone so rude or obnoxious in a 'Service Industry' let alone the owner of a business.

If you want the same old Indian food served in the same old way don't come here! Because here you get the greatest Indian food outside of India with unique customer service with a smile and a joke! Basil Fawlty! ! Just look at the comment boards. They explain all. If you don't have a sense of humour don't go but you will be the loser! Thoroughly recommend.

Family has been visiting the restaurant now for over ten year. They must be doing something right as we all keep going back. For being in business now for over ten years I really can't believe some of the negative reviews I read.

This is the best Indian Resturant in Brackley I have been going there for 30 years plus. The food is fantastic the service is good and boss makes me laugh.We have taken the grandchildren there and they loved it too.I would recommend this Resturant to any one .They also do a good take away service too.

This is a reliably good restaurant with obviously hand made spices and curries unlike a lot of places which have 'one bland sauce for all curries'. The host has an amazing memory and remembers preferences even big you've not been for a year.

There are many Asian restaurants in Brackley, all good but this has the best owner / waiter. The food is good but on the right night the owner is a person of character and worth visiting and when you get to know him you will want to return.

Visited here whilst seeing some friends who live local, our taxi driver warned us of a different quirky experience but we found a great place that would thoroughly recommend. It was fairly quiet but got a nice booth and had plenty of drinks while food was being prepared, service was not the fastest but we was in no rush, the host was funny with a couple of free drinks at the end which was a nice touch. I loved all the racing car references and had a Karun Chandhok curry which was excellent, everybody loved there food and will return at some point.

Best Indian restaurant by far, food is great . I always go here and it's always been as good if not better every time. Owner is awesome, very funny.

Back again, this time for a Take-Away(or 2nd) & also had a meal in the past. Food always excellant, service good, tho not always with a smile. Good value for money & very popular, especially with the GP people. Our take-aways are always ready when promised & not to exspensive & while you wait you can have a chat with the owner , who is a very interesting character!!!

Visited here, as we were at the MotoGP , always make sure we come here for a faultless meal , always the same year on year , we only wish it was closer to home , not 260 mile away , super food . Ignore any reviews of this gentlemen being rude, he is straight taking and doesn't suffer fools easily he is a nice gent .

Recently returned to this Indian restaurant whilst visiting my family in Northamptonshire. Love the fact that they have a huge space upstairs for you to enjoy a cocktail or pre dinner drinks. The choices are endless and my pina colada was spot on. This is my second trip to this restaurant in two years (as I live in Australia). Again, the food was authentic, flavourful and no dish tasted the same as another, as can often be the case in Indian restaurants. The service was excellent despite the place being packed. Prices were reasonable too. Can't fault the staff (I had read a few negative comments about the staff before going to this place but we never experienced any of that on either visit). Would definitely recommend Khushboo to friends and would return on my next trip to the UK.

like many local people we come here for the food which is always high quality, we have probably been coming regularly for over 15 years.The owner is the only server and can get bit shirt/rude when busy, but we are all used to this, the food is what we come for. If there are things on at Silverstone it can get very busy as the restaurant is quite small and popular with some of the teams.

The best restaurant in Brackley, excellent food service and atmosphere. The food served is of the very best fresh ingredients and is always presented beautifully. I would recommend this restaurant as 1st class, either to dine in or take away and would not consider dining elsewhere!

We ate here on two nights during our stay at Brackley, food was excellent and the owner was an interesting character, if you are the sort to be easily offended by brusque service this is not the place for you but we will definitely be back.

I can not believe the rudeness I encountered when ringing and speaking to a member of staff on the phone, who clearly needs to rethink their approach when valuable customers such as myself are taking the risk to spend hard earned cash at this establishment. I was put on hold for at least 2 mins & then being asked what do I want? I decided not to continue with my order and went else where. What a shame I was not able against all the advice given to me to avoid eating at this establishment, I wasn't able to prove them wrong.

Having read some of the negative reviews on here we weren't sure what to expect as we haven't eaten here for several years. All our fears however were ungrounded. We did go early and were the first people in there. The drinks came up quickly as did the food. My daughter doesn't eat Indian food but the owner had no problem in bringing her some freshly cooked chips and offered to cook her an omelette or eggs. My husband wanted a dish not on the menu and that wasn't a problem either. We could not make any complaints about any of the food, it was freshly cooked, nice and hot and plentiful.The service was excellent even though a party of 14 arrived after us.All round a great evening meal and we will definitely return.

First time dining here. Really friendly staff. Drinks were served quickly on request. Food was to a good standard. Staff did well to manage quite a busy evening as well as managing the take away aspect as well. Lovely touch with the roses for the ladies at the end. Overall a very pleasant evening.

First of all a disclaimer, I've lived in Brackley for over twenty years and since the Khushboo opened its been my regular for take away and sit down. Why do I keep going back ? - first of all the food is great and secondly I really enjoy the front of house - some say its like marmite and I love it - even if you are on the other side you won't complain about the food. I have tried many others (and I travel a lot) but this is one the best curry houses I have experienced for overall enjoyment. We had family with us from out of town and they loved it. Finally - if you are new to town give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

Had a takeout tonight and thought the food was very good. The restaurant looks good and traditional so will definitely try eating in next time.
