Amazing place. Came here for my partners 40th with 11 of her friends. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was great. Will be back again.

Fantastic venue, right on the vibrant Quayside. Service was spectacular, with all staff being attentive. The food was amazing, great flavours and quality. Would recommend.

Fab place beautiful tasting food

Best starters I have ever had who would have thought a broccoli starter could taste so good, me and my wife got the £42 sharer platter each and it was amazing. Probably the best food I've had. Service and atmosphere was fine nothing over the top but the staff always making sure we were happy and the desert was also amazing! Will visit again!

Khai Khai embodies the welcome shift from old school curry houses (red carpets, Taj Mahal, Phal) to something altogether more sophisticated, upmarket and frankly interesting. The decor is modern and smart, the waiting staff are helpful and efficient - the entire setup is slick. The food was lovely: lamb chops were sublime, as were the other grilled meats. Beef Vindaloo to follow (again, a little unusual, for obvious reasons) and was interesting. All in all a class act, recommended.

Really nice restaurant the butter chicken curry was glorious and the cheese naan was the best I've had. The staff were really friendly and could do enough for you. Nice selection of wine too. Price was surprisingly reasonable as it looks quite fancy.

We went for Valentines evening, we didn't have the set menu though. I opted for butter chicken and my husband had the lamb rogan josh. Both were lovely meals but I've had better tbh. Service was great, very kind and professional waiters. Price was ok, what you would expect in a lovely restaurant.

Probably the best meal I've ever had in Newcastle. Absolutely amazing flavours. Truly excellent service. Nice vibe. A little more expensive than the chains, but 100% worth it.

Celebrated our anniversary last night at this beautiful establishment.... Great service... Feels very exclusive.... And welcoming... The decor was superb and the food tasted excitingly authentic.... My favourite dish was the chicken roasted with peppercorns and caramelised onions ... My husbands lamb Rogan Josh was spot on and we shared morish Bombay soft seasoned potatoes and pan fried chillie chicken .... The mango lassie blended with mint was beautifully thick and refreshing .... Lovely atmosphere

I’ve been here a couple of times now. Staff are really friendly and the service is excellent. Being a vegetarian, there was plenty of choice for me across all courses and the food was delicious.

Lovely ambience and attentive staff. Definitely a very welcoming restaurant. They have seating upstairs and downstairs. Food was good. I wish the gulab jamun were served hot with the vanilla icecream instead of with a cheesecake.

I'm quite conflicted about how I feel about Khai Khai. The food is good (especially the brocolli), but not sure I would race back. The things that let it down were 1) The speed of the drinks arriving. We had finished the first course by the time the drinks had arrived (simple order of fizzy water and a non-draught lager) 2) The amount of space between the tables, barely enough room for the staff to serve and means you can literally hear the next tables conversation really clearly. The spacing between the larger tables looked better and I've been before as a party of 4 and didn't notice a lack of space. If you are a party of 2, and you want a bit of privacy, go the tables in the centre might be a better option.

Lovely restaurant, great food and service is top notch

If I could give 0 stars I would. The food was awful, the butter chicken was like tomato soup. The service was shocking, took almost an hour to get some table water and had to ask 6 times.

Food very bland, butter chicken sauce like tomato soup and only 3 pieces of chicken. Very expensive for what it was, £9 for a can of IPA and very poor service.

Brilliant! Refined Indian food with exceptional service, we've been meaning to come here for ages, we got the chefs feast which was a mix of starters, mains, desserts. Everything was absolutely brilliant, the service was some of the best we've received and the building and decor are wonderful. Would recommend to anyone local or anyone visiting for an authentic Indian experience!

First time, birthday lunch with my niece. A warm welcome into a calming restaurant. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. No overbearing chatter of others at all... Food was amazing, warming flavours in every dish. I had to ask for an extra naan to mop up the delightful sauces, too good to waste. Service was polite and discreet! Will definitely be back. Thank you management & staff.

Staff fantastic...the only issue is the size of the take away Naan Bread. It should be larger considering price payed. Quality and quantity should be a reflection of the whole. My lamb biryani was delicious, highly recommend.

Visited around a month ago for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere was lovely and the food was great. Not a big fan of the butter chicken but the chicken pepper roast and gunpowder fries were delicious. Really recommend the mock-tails also. A big thank you to all of the staff, especially Karun, who were very attentive and kind the whole night and really made my friends birthday special. They truly make the experience. Will definitely be coming back here.

Had a fabulous meal last week, chefs feast was superb and all staff nice and attentive, in particular Aisha was fantastic knew exactly what we needed without being too much

Terrible service. Nowhere to sit and wait while table is made available even for elderly person with mobility restrictions . Reception personnel completely indifferent so we cancelled the reservation .

Food was quire good, but places like My Delhi have slightly cheaper food but with more quantities of the actual meat in them that’s just as good. The waiters also hardly came to the table, took us a while to get water and for 1 of our dishes to come. Ambiance was nice overall but I wouldn’t go again.

Great food, service a little soulless and dark atmosphere but the food is delicious

Visited for my son's birthday Two of the same dishes ordered had to be sent back as not cooked or tasted correct. The dishes were exchanged for a different dish no apology given. My dish was supposed to be hot spices however very bland was mild at best. Didn't get to eat together as a party of three due to having to reorder two main courses. All in all overpriced and unappetizing food will definitely not revisit or recommend.

Lovely food. Great cocktails. No draught beer. Will definitely return. Food - really tasty, fair priced, fresh tasting. Highly recommend the chickpea chaat starter. Very refreshing. Naan was a big of a let down, very flat and quite small. Gunpowder chips (fries) were ok. Nothing really too them. Personally think would be better if they were covered in fresh chillies, garlic, coriander along with the gunpowder spice. Beer - cobra in a bottle or some canned wylam beer that was extortionately priced. Shame there’s no draught Indian beer, this would have excelled my experience Coffee - I expected some Indian twist on the coffees, but just ordinary drinks served. There was however some Indian tea if tea is your thing. Quite fancied a cardamom coffee or something similar.

My partner and I recently went to Khai Khai for dinner and we both loved it. The service was incredible, everything was quickly served and nothing was a problem for the staff. Food was fantastic and had lots to choose from! Forgot to take photos of everything but portion sizes I would say were just right! The only thing I would say is we ordered chips and I was expecting some more of a wedge style, however they came out as French fries, but in the grand scheme was really nothing! Overall lovely experience and looking forward to going back!

Excellent Smoke and Fire inspired Indian food, we just managed to catch the end of the lunchtime set menu and all enjoyed some excellent food and lovely mocktails. An absolute bargain.

The food is considered sweet and spicy, my order was Tandoori masala (four pieces of chicken), biryani vegetable rice, and naan bread. It is considered a fairly filling meal for one person, and some may need to order more The service is nice and fast, and it is best to go as soon as the restaurant opens at 5 o’clock, because I entered the first unit and arrived at 5:30, but the restaurant was crowded. According to my account, the order was 40 pounds

Looked nice even we walked in then realised how dark it was, and I mean very dark. They sat us at a table and no joke you could not see the menu it was that dark, I asked them to move us to a table with a bit light, 15 minutes later were could see the menu to my disappointment there really wasn't that much to choose from, but what we had it was nice but very pricey. Won't be hurrying back.

Superb top quality food and service.

If the website says they’re fully booked, go for a walk up and check. We are so glad we did. If you don’t order the Tandoori Broccoli, you are missing out! We didn’t order it but luckily for us, our waitress accidentally added it to our order instead of the Tandoori Chicken, and after trying to deliver it for the third time to our table, they realised the mistake and offered it free of charge while we waited for our chicken. The cocktails were incredible, a wonderful play on smoke flavours. I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Very nice service and specifically (Jakob) was very humbled nice waiter and recommended for those who love the Indian food and culture and i hope its not the last time to visit them.

Very nice and yummy food. Great taste for that area. The location is unfortunately very, very noisy, so I wouldn't recommend it if you want to talk with your people.

Lovely interior, food was ok but service was very poor. Very slow and inattentive which was a shame.

Most of the food was bland and tasteless. The butter chicken was barely edible and had to be sent back (first time I’ve ever sent a dish back in my life) as all you could taste and smell was cardamom - apparently it’s supposed to be like that but I’m almost certain it’s not 🤷🏽‍♂️. On top of that we got food poisoning from here. Of course all of this could be a one off unlucky experience but I won’t be going back not recommending to anyone. They did replace our dishes for free and the other dishes were fine but nothing special. Overall overpriced and tasteless. Service was good and atmosphere and aesthetic was great though.

An incredibly popular establishment ... every table was full as we arrived at 7:30 on a Thursdsy evening and everytime diners left the table was immediately turned around and others seated. Of course, it's easy to understand why it is so popular. An excellent choice of both food and drink, both being excellent when served. Staff are friendly and polite (and there's plenty of them). We would definitely recommend and return.

Lovely restaurant, beautiful place, amazing staff but the food on our night was very poor. The baji starter had no taste at all and was very dry. I gave my husband 2 of the 3 bajis and I tried his beetroot starter which was much tastier. I was looking forward to the speciality broccoli dish but it was awful. It should have been tenderstem broccoli but was normal broccoli florets that tasted out of a frozen bag...they were awful 😖 The chicken supreme was just boring and didn't have much taste at all. Was like a cold chicken curry. VERY disappointed as the reviews of this place were awesome and it was a meal for my birthday. Will definitely not be back ever. One of the worst meals I ever had.

Amazing evening. Wasnt just the food, but the classy atmosphere and superb staff were top notch. Assan was a great help in explaining the choices on the Chefs Feast, which we plumped for. At £42 per head, may sound a tad pricey, but it was worth it. To share between the 2 of us, we had 3 starters, 3 mains, 3 sides and home made fig desserts with ice cream😋 Will definitely return.

Visited in restaurant week. Ordered the vegan starter because it would be dairy free by default. Told the waiter it needed to be dairy free. It arrived with a creamy white sauce. I asked what it was and if it was dairy. The waiter went away to ask and came back and said yes this is the vegan version. I specifically said so is this sauce dairy free and he said yes. I started eating it just as another waiter brought the actual vegan version, sans creamy sauce. I told the second waiter what had happened. He went to the kitchen. Apparently there was a mix up in the kitchen. I specifically made staff aware of intolerance and was still served dairy, even when I was dubious so double checked. My dining partner told me I'd clarified five times about the dairy! No manager was called, nothing was removed from the bill, no complimentary drink. Just "sorry for the mix up but it's not my fault". Absolutely loved coming here in the past but won't risk it again.

It's one of the best restaurant I have ever visited being a food lover. Highly recommended and must visit place. Anyone for vegetarian options then - Tandoori brocoli, veg jack fruit biriyani, paneer butter masala, and laccha parota are my favourite dishes and must try for sure... Thanks,

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a very long time after seeing it all over social media, and I finally got to try it last night. We went for Chicken 65, Murgh Tikka and Onion Bhajis as starters. They were all so packed with flavour… especially the Chicken 65, the description on the menu doesn’t do it justice! For mains we went for the Butter Chicken with boiled basmati rice and saffron pilau and a Naan each. Again, flavours out of this world! There was so much food I could have quite literally burst! The staff were all so lovely and polite, they really couldn’t do enough for you. We will definitely be back to try some more of the menu!

Recommended, Excellent, This isn’t your typical curry house. This is the third time I have visited & been impressed on all 3 occasions. The food is delicious & outstanding, the lamb chops & murgh tikka is to die for. The chefs are very talented & the service is excellent.

Every dish was absolutely delicious, mocktails were so lovely and refreshing as well. The staff was very kind and recommended the broccoli, which turned out to be everyone's favourite dish in the end! Ambience was so comforting and cosy, I would love to be back very soon.

This cozy Khai Khai restaurant in HSR has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes Chicken & Mutton Biryani, Mutton Kosha, Chaap, Aloo posto I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again for Authentic biryani taste. Service is poor they are taking more time to serve rest of all good because of taste.

Meal was delicious, my only criticism is the main course was served on a cold plate and the food itself quickly turned cold because of this, hence the reason for 4 stars. Otherwise a lovely night.

KHAI KHAI Indian Cuisine is a must-visit! The food is amazing, with generous portion sizes that are sure to satisfy. We went at lunchtime and, while there’s a lunch menu available, we opted for the regular menu and were not disappointed. The staff had a positive, welcoming attitude, adding to the great experience. The interior decor and tableware complement each other beautifully, creating a stylish and cozy atmosphere. If it’s this good during lunch, I can only imagine how fantastic it must be in the evening!

Never heard of an Indian restaurant that doesn’t do Korma, pakora or mango chutney. Pompous. Dry food. The chicken kebab was scrapings off the floor. The service was excellent was the excess spice to hide the bland taste? Avoid unless you think you’re above everyone else.

Owners have sympathetically renovated a beautiful old building into a super modern restaurant whilst retaining the original features. Great staff who are very attentive without being intrusive. Food is of an excellent quality. Well presented and just the right portion size. Clearly use fresh ingredients. Waiters checked back to ensure our food and drinks were to standard. Waiters replenished water glasses without us asking. Lovely surprise for my wife to have all of the staff bring a chocolate cake to our table whilst singing Happy Birthday. This was organised in advance by our son. Definitely book in advance if you’re planning a visit!

I visited this building many times as Vujons and was a real treat to return and see the same style and elegance had been retained but with a modern twist and improvement. Restaurant very busy but well looked after although drinks order initially a little slow. Food is exceptionally good. Chicken tikka done to perfection with lovely slightly smoky flavour Highly recommended

The food was fantastic especially the bhajis. I had the vindaloo after speaking to the waitress. It wasn’t crazy spicy as she said and flavour was amazing. It was also unusual to get a beef curry. Desserts were great and there was an excellent drinks selection. Definitely something special and a bit different from your usual Indian restaurants. I would definitely recommend.

Chanced upon this by accident and so glad we did... Genuine Indian restaurant. Warm welcome, nice decor, friendly and attentive service throughout abd tge food spot on. Butter chicken was particularly excellent. Genuine cloth serviettes and quality cutlery and tableware. A rare gem.

The lamb chops are absolutely top notch, pricey but you get plenty of meat and it’s delicious! Get the large which is 4 pieces. The black lentil/daal is also spectacular when coupled with butter naans. 😍 Rogan lamb was so so. Mango lassi had mint in it??? *cue question marks guy gif*

Absolute perfection- the quickest most attentive service - food was mindblowingly good and we found it really good value for money too! We will return! No wonder Gordon Ramsey rated this place highly.

Really great food and quick service BUT the food wasn't spicy in the slightest and they charged us 85p for chillis because I wanted my Indian food to be a bit spicy 😂
