Ketch Rigger in Eastleigh

An escape from the UK. Didnt feel like we were in the UK. Was lovely being sat looking at all the boats/yachts in the harbour/quay. Service was great, food was amazing. A little pricey but totally worth it!

Lovely place looking over the water and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had a pasty and my friend had a sausage sandwich, both were excellent!!!

Good location if you happen to be on the marina but you are paying for this. Disappointing portion size for the price: a really small portion of fries cost £5 which I think is steep as you get less than you'd get at a well known big brand burger chain for £1.19. The Shredded duck tacos were £12 for two. The tacos come flat, they are about 10cm in diameter with 2 tablespoons of content. I'd pay less in Paris or London. For me, it is worth walking to Hamble village for better value. I used to use the restaurant during the week with friends, but the prices went up more than elsewhere and the portion size went down. For me its no longer a location I go to, but one I occasionally put up with the inflated prices. The staff are friendly enough, but i too have notice the menus and tables are often not as clean as other places - see some other comments made here.

Great little café restaurant overlooking the local yachts. Extensive menu and a bar. Eat in, or outside, also a covered area with heaters outside and a blanket box 😁Take away available. Visited again 21 August 24, with wife, elderly mother and our two new puppies. They sat outside whilst I went in to check where we could sit. Staff seem disinterested,. Finally spoke to the waitress who said we could only sit outside. Not even in the covered area 😔 It was too windy for this. The food would get cold quickly as it's quite exposed. So would my mother. We left and went to Hamble where there is a great selection of dog friendly pubs, with good food. The Victory was great, and really good value.

Has better service previously from the gentleman. Girl today not friendly or helpful. Had poached eggs which were both hard and my friend also had a hard fried egg so disappointed as so much better on previous visit but lovely location.

Lovely staff and great food the home made crab cakes are amazing and the service good. Came with family whilst staying at Hamble Point Marina.

This is a gem of a place! Don't expect fancy, do expect really nice, well prepared and presented food, friendly and efficient service from nice people and generally, nice guests too. This is 3 minutes out of your way if you are heading into Hamble, but well worth the very slight diversion. Fantastic breakfasts, excellent drinks in the late afternoon and a nice lunch and dinner venue. We came with low expectations and quickly realized we had missed-judged the place. Be nice to the staff and they will be so very nice to you!

I always liked going here for a lunch & coffee. But it seems inflation has hit the prices hard & it is no longer worth the price, in my opinion. Coffee still good & OK price.

Terrible service, waited an age for food to arrive which was greasy and overcooked. Rude and unfriendly staff brushed us off with a range of excuses. Make sure you wash you hands after reading their dirty, greasy menus.

Excellent food and nice relaxed atmosphere

Mediocre food, appalling service and dogs not allowed. The food was OK but the prawn tempura was just a soggy, fatty standard batter. Definitely not Tempura!! No still non alcoholic drinks for pregnant daughter. We arrived before 19.00 and did not get main course until after 20.15 by which time we could not see what we were eating as we had to be outside. They have an outmoded no dogs policy which is hard to understand as they have separate bar and restaurant areas so could easily allow dogs in the bar. To be fair they gave us a discount on the final bill as recognition of how badly we were looked after.

Lovely location overlooking the River. Bread was soft and fresh. Other food / drink was standard quality for what you would expect in a cafe. You are paying a bit extra for the location. Staff friendly and helpful.

Absolute rip off extortionate prices and below average food had a bacon sandwich which was 2 slices of bacon that had clearly been cooked in the morning and kept warm till lunchtime and was like leather when confronted and asked if it was cooked fresh he said yea we cook it every morning keep it on a hot plate and warm it in the oven I was told they can’t cook a bacon sandwich to order it would take 25 minutes absolute joke

Really nice little spot for breakfast before a day on the water. The bread they use is really nice and thick! The bacon and sausages were really tasty which made it a good breakfast! I’ll definitely stop in for a pint when I get back to port.

Friendly coffee no fuss. Great with dogs. Regular visitors (half way round our dog walk) and really like it here.

My partner and I had breakfast and the food was faultless. Fluffy scrambled egg and lovely fresh thick granary bread. My partner had the eggs benedict which he thoroughly enjoyed. The reason for my low score was I was really aggravated by a staff member complaining to who I think may have been the Manager and making lots of disparaging comments about another employee’s lack of work. This went on for a fair amount of time we were there. Whilst these conversations need to be had, they should be away from where customers can hear. I felt her comments created a toxic environment and I left feeling quite angry for the other employee, who wasn’t there to defend himself.

Lovely afternoon at Ketch Rigger today. Definitely recommend the afternoon tea.

Manager was very rude, making disparaging comments about his customers to his staff without realising I could overhear him. I left before even placing an order.

Just had lunch at the Ketch normally only do Breakfast, wonderful, food and staff so nice. What a lovely place this hidden gem is.

Plenty of outdoor undercover seating for this period of easing of restrictions. Lots of blankets available for use. Adapted perfectly.

Exceptional COVID-friendly service. Great outdoor space with heaters and wind-defeating marquee. Food was fab - we had pate, a gigantic crab mac and cheese, steak, and a generous kids meal. Nice drinks selection and service quality was prompt, well informed and friendly. Lovely walk back to town via Hamble Common recommended after filling yourself up!

Looking a bit tired in the outdoor seating area. But food was great and fairly fast service

Overpriced disappointing food, in both appearance and taste. I was underwhelmed by the £18 crab salad, in particular the chips, missed out on any crispness, heat or flavour. The rest of the plate was edible but lacked any imagination. My companions shared similar views. The service wasn't particularly great either and covid-19 measures were something to be desired. While they made a thing about not moving a table and waitresses mostly wear masks, which is fine, but there are other details like being handed a pot on cutlery to pick out from and having eaten in the conservatory having to go inside and queue at the bar to pay, which could have been better thought out to make people feel safe. Notably the chefs that can be seen through the serving hatches were not wearing masks.

Much like a conventional Ketch there was little drive coming from the back, so it was all down to the Main. I think its fair to say she must have been dismasted some time ago. It's going to take a good team of riggers to get this place sailing again!

I stopped by to visit the marina and found Ketch, I had a lovely snack in the conservatory. Staff were good, food simple and equally good, the place was clean and bright. Nice wine, just the one, served nice and quickly.

Good but not cheap, there are table and chairs for eating and sofas inside and out for socialising, excellent staff.

We spent the long weekend moored in the marina, the food here is good, however I must agree with others the service for a marina restaurant is shocking, groups of staff continuously chatting, so much so you feel awkward asking to be served!

A well known watering hole for sailors departing Hamble point marina. The food is probably above average for such a small venue, the beer range is unimpressive, just a few largers, but there are plenty of other drinks. The venue is nice enough for a marina venue.

First time we have visited, got there early, coffee was cold, breakfast took over half an hour to arrive, order was wrong & was mostly cold, sent it back asked for money back. won't be visiting again

Food ok, not brilliant. Service absolutely awful. Tried it once and service was bad but liked location tried it again and service was terrible again. Won’t be going back. Staff tend to just chat behind the bar rather than being engaged in what they are paid to do! Such a shame as it really let the place down.

Ketch Rigger: Great food, friendly service (during a busy lunch) and to top it off great views. Well worth the walk/drive down to Hamble Point Marina for this marina bar and restaurant that punches above it’s weight.
