Mia and Lauren provided exceptional service, super friendly and attentive. Food was pretty average (we all had roast dinners) bringing down the score but could not fault the staff

Gabbie was lovely. Took our order and checked in on us during our visit. And the food is always excellent. We’ve been coming here for Mother’s Day every year. Thank you for having us.

Came here for a Mother’s Day lunch which was delicious. Gabbie looked after us so well, and was really great interacting with our little boy. The rib of beef just fell off the bone which was so tender! Would def come back. Also a little treat was given to me as we left as a little Mother’s Day gift which was a lovely treat!

We arrived without a booking on Mother's Day and straight away we had a table in the barn greeted with compliments and smiles. Lauren O are waitress was very professional great service she had a lovely smile and also the other waitresses that served our table. Food was great I would definitely recommend to anyone to go there. X

Wonderful pub. Super friendly staff. Great all year round. We've been frequenting this pub on Friday afternoons, for many years. The staff a great and good for a laugh. Very attentive and always make you feel welcome. If you're looking for a friendly pub with a nice atmosphere you won't go wrong with the Fox & Hounds 🍻

We visited on the 22rd of March to celebrate my daughters 19th birthday, we were greeted by Shannon and shown to out seats and was made to feel welcome straight away, she explained the starters and was very helpful through the dinning experience. The food was excellent and service was fast and timely for a table of 10 people. Despite my daughter not liking any real attention for her birthday and not wanting us to make a fuss and sing happy birthday, the staff surprised her with her dessert with happy birthday wrote on the board in sauce and a candle in the brownie, a very nice touch. and even took the time to take some photos for us. I would like to thank the team and especially Shannon for her attention during our visit for making our eveing a special one, she even took the time to take some photos for us. ☆☆☆☆☆

Great value roast dinner. Great size portions and only £17 for the trio of meats. Gabbie our waitress was great and very accommodating.

The service was excellent, the food ok. I was however, extremely disappointed in the change in the main part of the pub and also in the barn. There is a carpet down covering the beautiful flag stones up, not in keeping and the barn was devoid of a lot of the farm implements that made for a wonderful place to sit and eat. In the main part of the pub, no atmosphere what so ever, again an awful carpet covering up the beautiful flooring. Devoid again of the items that used to be there. These buildings are old and should not be change to create a ‘modern’ look. Will not be going back disappointing

A hidden historic gem with lots of character and lovey food, we were looked after by Shanon and Dee who were very friendly, cheerful and attentive.

So it was a birthday for 11 of us we had a lovely table and plenty of room for us. Plus a high chair. Gab,Molly,and Mia did a great job looking after us with our drinks and food. Even talking to the children finding out what they liked. Most of us had Sunday dinner which was Delicious! And plenty of it. We live locally and absolutely love coming here. Shannon has served me for the last two visits and has added an extra layer to the experience. She's incredibly personable and, based on her drinks recommendations, clearly very knowledgeable. Thank you everyone. See you soon!

Having had 3 successful meals here in the past this quickly become our favourite place to come for a nice quality meal for 2. Have just been this evening and what a stark contrast. The service was abysmal, the food felt rushed and not to the standard of our previous 3 visits. Its worth noting on our previous 3 visits we were served by Gabby who is amazing, attentive and friendly. We were left 40 minutes after finishing a meal with no-one asking if we wanted drinks, desserts or the bill. This is such a shame and has left a bad taste in our mouths.

Disappointing Sunday Roast :( Visited for the first time on Sunday early evening. Few items out of stock. Both roasts ordered were missing carrot and swede mash (not substituted) and Yorkshire pudding overdone (bit burnt and dry). Turkey and potatoes were tasty, but could have been warmer. Caramel sundae was one scoop of chocolate and one scoop of vegan ice cream (substitute as clotted cream out of stock) sadly only two pieces of brownie and no cheesecake pieces as listed, so might as well go for 3 scoops of ice cream for less price than the sundae (although the vegan ice cream was nice, the rich coconut flavour didn't really work with the caramel). Ambience of the pub was welcoming and easy parking, so will come again, just not sure I'd go for a roast as didn't think it was value for money with missing items and other items clearly not being as fresh as they could have been.

All I have to say is a 1.5 hour wait. The food never came. Drinks took half an hour which is totally unacceptable when we were sat about 10 feet away from the bar. No cutlery until after starters arrived. If a zero star review was possible I would leave one. I do not reccomend

The food was lovely, although could've been warmer. The service was slow but I'm not sure if that's cos we were sat out of the way in the corner. I would definitely come back, but not on a time crunch

Attended The Fox & Hounds on a busy Saturday night without prior booking and despite it being relatively busy, the Host Tony managed to find my friend and I a table. I was unsure what to have for both my main and dessert, stuck between a few different choices. Tony gave me recommendations for both courses which I went ahead with and so glad I did as both were delicious. It had been some time since I had last been to the Fox and Hounds but after my experience tonight, I will not wait so long to return. It was lovely food, service and atmosphere, all the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Chefs board was poor. Squid not crispy and under cooked Chicken was cold. Sausages not as described on menu, Waited 35 minutes for the food to arrive. Service was slow.

Shannon looked after us all evening with the best service. We were advised of a half hour wait on food straight away which was fine and drinks orders taken quickly. Food was cooked well and tasty. Definitely coming back again soon.

Shannon looked after us so well, such a fantastic waiter! Thanks so much for the giggles, it really made our evening! Unbelievably great choice of gluten free options for my step dad who's coeliac, very rare to find. Main course was average (pie), but the salted caramel sundae dessert was utterly delicious!

Edit 20/2/2025 - My comments below still stand but today we were really disappointed with the service; when we arrived we were advised there would be a 30 minute wait for food, no problem. Our drinks order was taken very quickly and we werent ready to place our food order but we had to wait around another 20 minutes before our food order was taken. We ended up waiting in excess of an hour for our food which really wasnt ideal as it was around 2pm, we were both very hungry and short on time. The food was delicious but the delay impacted on the rest of our day. We also noted it was cold in the restaurant and only partially lit, another, nearby table also commented that heating wasn't on and they were cold too. We used to visit here many years ago when it was 2 pubs, the fox & hounds and the Lone barn. First time I have eaten here since and despite reading other reviews saying it had lost its charm, we were impressed to still see the stone floor, huge active fireplace, and it's attractive vaulted ceiling. We arrived at 5pm without prebooking and didn't really expect a problem but there was a bit of huffing and puffing over table availability. Apart from large gatherings for birthdays, etc, we haven't needed to prebook since before Covid. Luckily we were found a table for 3. Service was very good and the food and drink were excellent. *** RE latest visit - update We visited again today and had a wonderful experience. We were well looked after, especially by Gabbie, who took our order and waited on us perfectly. Our food was faultless and delicious and I think our starter (Chef's Board) was quite possibly my favourite starter of all time!!! I also had the Mixed Grill and this was equally filling and tasty. Topped by the friendly service and general ambience, I strongly recommend the Fox & Hounds and plan to return.

Had a perfect meal with my partner for lunch today. I had the steak ciabatta and he had he had a hunters chicken type meal. We both had the chicken strip starter and it was amazing. For the quality of the food, definitely worth the price. Highly recommend. Thankyou to our server Shannon

We have always had a lovely meal at the Fox and Hounds and tonight was no exception. We were celebrating a birthday and they came out singing with a free desert for the birthday girl. Very nice atmosphere good old fashioned pub. Our waitress Shannon was lovely.

We are regulars and as always the food was great. Ellen our server was welcoming, friendly and accommodating to our specific needs especially as we turned up without a booking on a busy Sunday lunch session. The only reason for giving an overall 4star review was the temperature in the barn area was cold however I'm sure it would of warmed up as the turned up the radiators and lit the log fire . Well worth a visit

Lunch for 4 to celebrate a 60th birthday (and forthcoming retirement). Green King accept Defence Discount vouchers, making the meal very good value. Food excellent, atmosphere good (although a tad on the cold side in the great hall) and the service was excellent. Ample free parking on site. Ellen, our server, was cheerful, professional and attentive, but not overbearing. Lovely experience.

We have been here a number of times for a meal. On every visit the food was amazing and staff were friendly and attentive. We shall definitely be going again.

We just recently moved to the area and are over the moon that we have the Fox and Hounds just a five minute walk away. We went breakfast for my partners birthday and it was perfect. A great pub with very tasty food. Having first been sat in the barn which felt quite cold (next to the stone walls!) we were relocated to the bar, where Ellen very friendly and helpful. Alerting us to a half hour wait for food after we'd ordered, my wife had to ask for her roast to arrive as soon as possible as she is diabetic and had already given herself insulin for the meal. Happily this was accommodated, with a smile and understanding. Many thanks! The food was very nice and plentiful. I expect we will be back, as our son is at University nearby.

This was the first time that we had visited the Fox and Hounds. We were in the area visiting friends. It was a cold and miserable day, but as soon as we entered we were struck by the cosy, warm atmosphere of the pub. Many pubs are saving on their heating bills but, luckily this one did not follow the trend, and it was a pleasant and warm place to be. It was fairly full and there appeared to be only two staff. Tony and an Irish lady (who's name I didn't get) and I was worried that service would be slow. In fact service was excellent and the food was different and very good. The service from both of them was fast, friendly, professional and efficient. All in all I would recommend the Fox and Hounds as a great British pub. Only downside is that the approach road is quite narrow but, obviously that is not the pub's fault. Recommended.

Great food, although my husband asked for medium rare steak, but was more medium. Lovely friendly staff as always. But this was probably a one-off as we've never had this problem before

We had a lovely evening - staff friendly and efficient, lovely ambience and food delicious. We often visit and are never disappointed.

Good parking and pretty building but poor service and food. Service on arrival was Spartan but eventually a friendly lady showed us to our seats. We waited 10 minutes for a waiter to arrive and take drink orders. Given the lack of apparent staff we ordered our food at the same time which arrived in a timely way. The food was disappointing. It was late on a Sunday but the vegetables on each of the 6 plates consisted of a small portion over overcooked cabbage. 1 lucky dinner got quarter of a carrot but the rest of us were left envious with our austere offering. The mushroom wellington weirdly had silver skin onions init which was odd but not entirely unpleasant. The burger was the best bet. The food was served in a hurried manner and no eye contact. She was young and apparently just so we tipped regardless. Real shame. Was meant to be a nice family meal and we left feeling I could have saved the money and done something MUCH nicer at home. There are other much better places to eat near by. Unless this was not representative of their usual fair!!!

Our servers Shannon and Sarah we’re brilliant and the burns night menu was absolutely amazing and the cost was responsible.

I had the belly pork which I sent back. There was no crackling, just lots of congealed fat. Quite horrible. I was offered to change it and I then had the pie. This tasted very nice. However it obviously didn’t suit me as I was awake half the night with stomach cramps and visits to the loo.

Roast dinner lovely, but final order of a hot drink took 30 minutes to never arrive. Cold room, but not much can be done in the lovely old building

Food was disappointing, quite tasteless and chips were undercooked. Also ordered a burger without cheese for allergy reasons but it came with cheese, although it was rectified pretty quickly. The decor is nice and cozy with a wood fire burning, probably perfect if you're just coming for a drink.

Went for Sunday dinner.service not good waited 50 mins .the real ale not great not probably looked after I drink real ale all the time the dinner was warm when it arrived.and not enough gravy.wont be going back.
