Fox and Hounds in Eastleigh

We were having holiday blues so we spontaneously decided to go out for food. Gabbie and Keira were very attentive and smiley polite girls. It felt very christmassy and the food didn't disappoint we had mixed grill 😋.. Thank you

We came back to The Fox & Hounds to celebrate my daughters birthday with family and were not disappointed. Originally, we were not too happy with the table location but we asked to move and this was no problem for the staff. Although the pub was busy, we were very well looked after by Basak and other members of staff. A special thank you to Basak for looking after us and at one point, chased where our mains were as it had been a while but she did this off her own back and it was appreciated.

Pub was very clean. Promptly escorted to our table. Menu's on table and asked if we wanted to order drinks. Very efficient service

Once again a very special visit excellent staff who gave us a very nice welcome.The service and quality of the food was as usual excellent

Gabrielle was lovely and so helpful, gave us good wine recommendations (the rose chapel down). The food was lovely especially the beef and Stilton wellington!

When people have said to me that the food is rubbish I have always challenged them. However, I have just had a Sunday roast there this evening. This should have consisted of Roast Belly Pork with Crackling. It turned out to be a piece of roast pork so overcooked it was sinewy. No sign of cracking! The vegetables were hard. There was no cauliflower cheese left so it was substituted by leeks, which were practically raw! The roast potatoes were grey and basically the whole dinner was so dry I had to ask for more gravy. I think by putting a huge Yorkshire pudding on your plate made them feel you were getting value for money. I am a regular at this pub but I’m really sorry to say I won’t be for a very long time. You could say that “well it’s 7pm in the evening so what do you expect”. I say if you can’t produce a roast at this time of the day then don’t have it on the menu!! When we left to pay the bill no one asked us “how was your meal”. I suspect that was because they new how bad it was.

Lovely cosy welcoming pub with really friendly staff. Good festive menu in addition to regular menu. Only criticism was that the sprouts were soggy! Remember 30plus years ago coming here when it was The Lone Barn and The Fox and Hounds. Definitely will revisit in the summer when we can combine with a walk in the area too.

Excellent meal at Burseldon Chef and Brewer. Great customer service, especially from Shannon who was a happy yet knowledgeable person.

Lovely meal yesterday. I had the sea bass and hubby had the steak and ale pie, followed by the trio of mini desserts. A nice way to spend my birthday and great service from Ellen. We'll be back.

Great food as always although it took a while to arrive. Very friendly and efficient service from waitress Lauren. I didn’t want sprouts and they happily gave me alternative veg. I eat here quite often as I like the food, atmosphere and the location.

A wonderful evening celebrating my granddaughters birthday. There were 7 of us and everyone was impressed. Food was good and hot. The service was excellent. Both our waitress Sarah and the manager Jackie went over and beyond in making our evening great. Help with my odd citrus allergy was brilliant. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Fantastic service from Ellen the waitress, staff and manageress (sorry didn't get her name), on Friday for our mums 80th birthday meal. So attentive, polite, caring and chatty. 6/10/24 Arrived on time, only for another table next door to us, that their meals and drinks were taken before us. We did not have starters but went into roast mains, then husband had sweet, just as he finished we were told our table was required and we could finish our drinks at the bar. We were not offered coffee or tea at the table. Never been to restaurant whereby we have been told to move before we have finished our meal. Totally gobsmacked, Only 3 stools at the bar otherwise we would be standing. Paid our bill but will need to reconsider going back. ,

Friendly staff, great place for a meal and a chat.

I want to say it is horrible that I had to wait 1hour and 45 minutes to get my drinks and now I have just got my food after another 10 minutes so it had took 1 hour and 50 minutes to get my food and drinks and I didn’t order a starter aswell so it is terrible and I won’t be going back

Had an amazing meal here this evening with my sister. Very warm and friendly atmosphere. Both the staff and the locals were all very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious! We were served by a lovely lady, Ellen. Who was very warm, friendly and chatty. Would definitely recommend this little gem of a pub to anyone.

Car park small and down small country road food very nice and staff very friendly only thing was waiting long time for food between courses but still 5☆

Food was quite nice, chips a little crunchy and overdone, but the service was short tempered and arrogant. Also if you ASK me to tip, I'm not going to. Poor lighting and the four tables with people actually sat at them all crammed into one small corner with the rest of the pub sat completely empty.

Not been there for a while. Very pleased I went. Service, food and beer all good. The beer prices are more than what I usually pay for on other pubs but it was all very nice.will be going back. Well done to the staff.

The food and drink was wonderful, the staff, foremost our waitress, Gabbie, were lovely and on the ball, and there is a homely and comely warmth and mood at The Fox And Hounds too, more so when sitting and eating within the hundreds of years old barn side of the stead. I had chicken strips and the mixed grill and there is naught I can write home about to be a flaw on either, they were both yummy.

Not as good as it was but ok, Today 08 05 22, the food was good but staff all had attitude except for the guy who delivered the food,bad atmosphere dont know if there had been previous issues that had caused it but not good.15 10 24 its been a while things havnt changed much staff were ok but nothing outstanding,the food was ok but non of us thought it that great but what was really bad were the poorly behaved dogs barking on the next table.Dont think we will be back anytime soon.

Fantastic pub! Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Open fires, old world charm in a modern style, making for a lovely atmosphere. Plenty of parking.

A very average experience. Ordered the fish pie which was on the specials board and son ordered the burger. Fish pie was ok. Not the best for £18.99! Came with a very dry slice of bread and a lump of butter and peas so hard they were inedible. Burger meat low grade. Won’t be back sadly. Was so looking forward to this place as the building is lovely and the log fires really create a lovely atmosphere. Staff friendly but food is what you go for when u eat out and that falls short.

Great welcome and service from Ellen. Friendly and personable. Food was served hot and was really tasty. Sadly the temperature in the lonebarn area was far too cold and it wasn't a really cold evening so brace yourself if visiting in the winter! Lighting on leaving was really poor in the car park so do take care. Shame as Ellen was too good for this establishment.

We used to visit here many years ago when it was 2 pubs, the fox & hounds and the Lone barn. First time I have eaten here since and despite reading other reviews saying it had lost its charm, we were impressed to still see the stone floor, huge active fireplace, and it's attractive vaulted ceiling. We arrived at 5pm without prebooking and didn't really expect a problem but there was a bit of huffing and puffing over table availability. Apart from large gatherings for birthdays, etc, we haven't needed to prebook since before Covid. Luckily we were found a table for 3. Service was very good and the food and drink were excellent. *** RE latest visit - update We visited again today and had a wonderful experience. We were well looked after, especially by Gabbie, who took our order and waited on us perfectly. Our food was faultless and delicious and I think our starter (Chef's Board) was quite possibly my favourite starter of all time!!! I also had the Mixed Grill and this was equally filling and tasty. Topped by the friendly service and general ambience, I strongly recommend the Fox & Hounds and plan to return.

Please can you tell me how two people that came in ten minutes behind us and after we ordered all of our food get there two steak dinners plus side before we get our three starters of tomatoes soup then it was at least 15 minutes before they arrived then when we had finished our starters the main arrived five minutes after

Have been here a few times and always good however this most recent visit was brilliant. Our waitress was so lovely, really friendly and on realising it was my daughter's birthday she was not only provided with a lovely decorated dessert complete with candle and group rendition of happy birthday but also a card! Was really unexpected but so appreciated. Toad in the hole was really tasty. Kids food went down well too. Very good value, great service. Couldn't fault the whole experience.

Had a great time for a special birthday. Food was perfect for all 10 guests. Sophie was our server and was amazing, everything delivered with a smile and great with two kids in the party.

My dad’s family have been regulars to the Lone barn in the old days so it was lovely to reminisce as the place has so much atmosphere. Service and food excellent too. Sophie was extremely professional and always happy to help. I would definitely recommend to everyone.

We all enjoyed really tasty meals at the Fox and Hounds. Orders included both meat and vegetarian pies, scampi and a sourdough sandwich. Service was friendly and attentive. Would recommend.

Great character village pub. Went there this evening for a meal. Quality was brilliant and price fair for food we ordered. Staff were very attentive. In particular the manageress Jackie went out of her way to make sure we were well catered for. Small issue with my fish and chip meal but Jackie IMMEDIATELY rectified this with the kitchen sending out as replacement the most delicious piece of battered fish ever. A lovely evening spent in an ambient atmosphere with great quality food and excellent service from the staff. Highly recommend.

We held a Club dinner here for the third year running and yet again the food, staff and ambience in The Barn was excellent. The menu offered this year was more extensive and the staff simply couldn't be more helpful. Dedicated servers took drinks orders and payment from the table and the level of organisation with brilliant. Thank you so much for looking after us again.

I booked a table for 4 & requested a window plus it was my cousin’s birthday and asked for a small cake / ice cream with a single candle when I booked and arrived tonight and someone else had our table and we were put elsewhere and no candle so very disappointed and won’t return here.

Haven’t been here for a while, but have to say that tonight did not disappoint. The staff went above and beyond to find us a table. Drinks and food were exceptional, and were elevated beyond any expectation from previous experience. Our waitress Sophie was excellent, and made us feel welcome, always made sure we had everything we needed. Enquired about the chef tonight as food was of a much higher standard then previous visits, Sophie informed it was new head chef Jan, was even eyeing up all the food on the tables around us for our next visit. And Jackie was her usual self! :)

right atmosphere for a pub, good food and good service

Booked here this evening and had a superb meal, the atmosphere was really nice and made to feel at home. The service was second to none and Gabrielle was attentive in all aspects of what was needed to make the visit a memorable one. Price of the meal was spot on costing just over £25 PP including a drink (I had two pints) for a 2 course meal. They had a guest ale on which I was assured is a regular thing. All in all a really nice place to have a meal with a good menu selection and a specials board as well.

The staff were extremely helpful with accommodating my grandad in his wheelchair and were very pleasant to chat to. The atmosphere is also lovely with its traditional and cosy setting. The food however, while being as tasty as ever, is a tad too small portion wise. I ordered the pork loin which tasted amazing but the mash that came with it was about 3 spoonfuls big. Other than this, I recommend this place as long as you don't mind a slightly smaller meal than usual.

Excellent service by Sophie this evening, nothing was too much trouble. Food was fine, the roast dinner was lovely but my pie and my daughters steak were both a bit over cooked. Lovely atmosphere and venue.

Hadn’t been for a while but looked at menu and as there were 2 pescatarian ( 1is also dairy free) in our group & veggie it looked good however after choosing from the menu we were told 2 of the main fish dishes were off the menu at 6.00pm, they had to have the veggie option so went for roast. Wellington was nice but potatoes were very dried up. May try again sometime but will check before.
