Have eaten pie and mash for many years, but my first and last visit to Kellys was very disappointing. Burnt pies and small portions of mash and liquor. This was when they first opened, but have not been back since. Shame as I was excited when I heard they we’re bringing their business to Dunmow.

Unless you're prepared to drive into the East End traditional P&M shops are few and far between. So finding this one within a couple of miles of Stansted Airport is a real bonus. Proper home baked pies. Proper fresh mashed potatoes & healthy portions. Great filling hot lunch Mug of tea - Whats not to like! Will be back

Came in yesterday with 2 cousins. Was brought up in the east end on pie & mash & visited Kelly's for first time. Loved it. Pies just how we remembered they used to be & liquor lovely. Lady in shop was so friendly. All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our food & evoked many happy memories. Definitely recommend & will return. Even bought 10 pies & liquor to take home!

OK this is a small establishment but rarely would you wait too long for a table. The P&M is traditional and very good.

Very basic very slow starters and mains brought together, junior waiting staff not a clue! Food - I’ve had a better pie in a football ground, served with cold fries and shrivelled peas, v unappetising

Beautiful, really charming country pub. We had great food on the way from Stansted, a detour well worth taking. Loved the decor and atmosphere.

What a lovely find. We wanted somewhere near Duxford as a last minute getaway for a night. Found The Red Cow on Google maps and booked it not expecting very much. Once we arrived, the man who checked us in automatically upgraded us to a better room just because it was empty. We were shown to our room by a very helpful lady who explained the shower controls (they are not where you would expect them to be!) and asked if the room was the right temperature. The room was immaculate and very cosy and warm particularly as it was bitterly cold outside. We quickly made our way back to the main bar with its open fire and pre ordered breakfast for the next morning. The bar became very busy in the evening which was lovely to see. Dogs were allowed which was nice. We had booked a table for dinner and the small restaurant area was busy We ordered the mushrooms and chicken wings for starters and teriyaki chicken noodles for the main course, all of which were lovely and plentiful. We headed back to our room and had a lovely night's sleep in a very comparable bed. The breakfast the next morning was cooked perfectly and the welcome was very sincere when we walked in. I would not hesitate to recommend this little gem and will definitely return.

We had a mid-week lunch at The Dog & Duck as a walking group of 13 people. This is a proper village pub, not a gastro pub. The menu is typical pub fare, done well. Examples include fish and chips, sausages and mash, or lasagne. The quality of the food was excellent and everybody enjoyed their lunches. Prices were reasonable and portions generous. They also do a very reasonably priced seniors menu. A few of the group had deserts and, apparently, the home-made deserts are not to be missed! The service was friendly and efficient. Several of our group remarked how good the pub was. We'll definitely visit again!
