Been here twice now second time walked out. First visit we came in and was told to just get a table, sat there for a while and ended up going over to ask about ordering, eventually order food and drink, tea/coffee came over then waited a while for milk, went bar again milk was left there and not brought over, food was ok but the girl that was serving wasn’t interested ( Indian looking ) Went again walked in got our table, short haired blonde girl didn’t even acknowledge we were there and just kept walking past us. Walked out and went to pippins corner which was lovely with great service. Now I know and understand why this place was always empty, will not set foot in here again.

My partner and I went for a walk in sefton park and just so happened to pop into here for some breakfast and a coffee. The coffee was lovely and the food even nicer. I loved my breakfast so much I now make it at home. I had a delicious cream cheese and bacon bagel and my partner had poached eggs and said they were lovely! Very cheap too.

Awful! We had a vegan sharing platter which was one dinner plate size only between two and so small it was hardly shareable. To make matters worse when we complained to the waiter and to the manager neither offered an apology or anything to make us feel happier. They just blamed it on the owner. Truly terrible!

Witnessed server (lad with scruffy hair) behind the bar take a tray loaded with used glasses into the kitchen and less than 1 minute later returns with the same tray! I know it was the same tray as the glasses were all in the same position - he had literally just sprayed them with water and continued using them for drinks! Absolutely disgusting and a vile practice. These glasses need to go through a dish washer and not sprayed with water because you cannot be bothered to wash them properly!!!! I’ve reported what I witnessed to the local council environmental health department.

Popped in with my partner for a drink on my birthday but only had the one drink. The wine wasn’t the best and there were kids running around. I’ve no problem with kids being in a bar but when the parents allowing them to run around screaming and shouting that’s when I think it’s a problem. I know the place has been going for years and seems popular but the few times I’ve been I’ve never understood the hype.

I've eaten here for 40 years and never had a bad meal. The atmosphere is great, relaxed bohemian ambiance. Host for jazz, open mic music nights and philosophy meetings. Keith is enigmatic and does not smile at all but I have heard he is secretly a nice person.

We were really looking forward to a celebration meal together. Sadly food very average, music so loud that you couldn't talk. Pun 3/4 empty @ 8pm on a Friday night! Steak was so chewy, it was inedible, staff just shrugged their shoulders! Wouldn't recommend friends to eat here :(

We went to Lark Lane for a visit today. Went in to Keith’s for some dinner. Party of 5 and 4 had Sunday dinner including nut roast. We were all really impressed with the home cooked food. Very tasty, roast potatoes were amazing. My youngest daughter had a sandwich which she also really enjoyed. We would definitely visit again. Only negative was trying to get a table, maybe it would help to have staff to help seat people.

…what ever happened to me? Oh dear. When your food is way worse than it was in the 1980s you are in trouble. This is clearly only a wine bar now and I do not recommend the food. Most people were not eating. My memories when I came with my dad in the early 80s were of the most fabulous fresh salads piling on the plate. With thick wholemeal buttered bread, slabs of cheese, wonderful cold cuts and loads of other great goodies. Brought my daughter to this legendary place and was bitterly disappointed. The bohemian atmosphere is still there but we got poor unfriendly service, a Caesar salad with a hair in it (sent back and refunded with apology no problem), a “sharing” plate with a few olives and peppers from a jar, some chopped up feta and insipid stale hummus with the consistency of pate and no flavour. Pitta bread was cheap shop stuff which they couldn’t even heat up properly. Some haloumi for nearly seven quid, with similarly cold packet pitta was uninspiring. It’s not surprising no one was eating especially when you think how much Lark Lane has developed on the food scene. Keith’s still has a good vibe for sinking a few bottles of wine on a lazy afternoon but is absolutely not a place to eat. And it used to be so good… when they had love and passion in the kitchen back in the day. Sigh… what became of the people, we used to be?

Love Keith’s but ridiculous to be told we can’t have a coffee at 8.30 after a meal because we have drunk 2 pints of beer as it could be “dangerous “. . Made all the more annoying to see other customers being served tea and coffee . When questioned, told one of these hadnt had alcohol and another had been here since 7.00. We arrived at 7.30. Most places which serve food would think it usual to serve coffee. If they really thought we’d drink too much ( 2 pints plus food!!!) surely coffee is a good idea, especially as they are happy to serve more alcohol!!!!!

Lively atmosphere, customers were really enjoying themselves and friendly. The meal was excellent, we had 1. a generous serving of lamb and wilted spinach curry which was gently spiced and nor hot in any way, the lamb was tender, no fat, served on a bed of white rice with a very nice sauce, mango chutney and warm pitta bread and 2. the cod dish dish which was perfectly cooked, nicely spiced with lots of new potatoes and again a nice sauce. These two dishes cost £26 and two apple juices were served free. A very enjoyable evening and highly recommended. Well done the young chef.

This place is legendary… it’s not the nicest looking place, quite scruffy but traditionally has the best bohemian atmosphere out of all the bars on Lark Lane, great wine, great reasonably priced food and plenty of artistic characters if you like to people watch. Better on some days than others. Wednesday night is Jazz night and definitely worth a visit. The weekends get busier and the clientele gets younger but still a decent bar. If you’re looking for a place that’s nice and clean, this isn’t the place for you. Only time I have seen it get out of hand is when the security on the door cause problems. It’s happened many times and problems always seem escalated by the door staff instead of then taking a different approach. They’re pretty brain dead on the whole. Eg. Keeping the doors open on the coldest nights of the year because they can’t be bothered opening the door for customers. People inside (of all ages) are then freezing and complaining but they refuse to close the doors even when politely asked, whilst they stand there all wrapped up in the thickest of winter coats. If I was the owner of the bar, I’d insist that they used their brains if they have one and stop them ruining peoples nights by being so stubborn and pathetically stupid. The customers should come first not the egos of the door staff. Besides that, worth a visit!

The prices of drinks here are great and the atmosphere is good too, however the bouncers gave me the best impression. I had a problem with a person who was being inappropriate inside and with no hesitation or questions they resolved the issue. A fantastic place for women to go and know they are entirely safe. Bouncers are a credit to the establishment.

Great place down the years, but we had to leave again since only roasts were being served - and they can't do them gluten free. No other options apparently, since the boards below listed sandwiches. And while there is a limited list of GF options on a list staff can check behind the bar, we've been told before that they're not available on Sundays. The board outside says there are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options - maybe remove the GF bit if you can't - or won't - serve GF? Thanks.

Let’s be honest- the only reason you end up in Keith’s of a night time is probably because 1) it’s cheap as chips & 2) it’s the ONLY PLACE STILL OPEN on the lane. Keith obviously does not care for reputation as he will literally let anyone in & serve drinks to people that should have been cut off hours previous (serving people that are already drunk & high is illegal by the way). Entering a venue where you have to push past people smoking weed on the doorstep should be earning enough that you should RUN. Either that or the toilet roll holders and sink counter tops being covered in cocaine is sign number two. Sitting in Keith’s during the evening is like watching feeding time at the zoo. If you have any other option for places to go other than this absolute last resort - take it. Vomit covered toilets and rowdy scallys off their heads is not my idea of a good night out. Won’t be back.

There's an atmosphere in Keith's that you either love or hate. It's a long way from being The Ritz but the kitchens are clean, they have new toilets (which is a shame as the state the toilets used to be in was becoming a local tourist attraction) the food is cheap and served quickly (may I suggest the baked potato and cheese for a bite to eat at lunch). In the day the clientele include everything from people sitting by themselves enjoying a coffee while reading a book or working on a laptop to friends meeting for lunch, which creates a relaxed atmosphere that makes you not want to leave. In the evening and weekend the clientele are more of a lively crowd, it's still relaxed but in a fun way with people on dates and friends drinking with friend. The staff are nice, I especially like the girl who serves me my potato at lunch with the tattoos on her arm, there's a charm about the way she puts my plate on the table that makes me feel like I'm in a prison and that's what keeps bringing me back. Occasionally I'll attempt to make conversation with Keith, when he shows up, I would best describe Keith as a polite, reserved man who doesn't want to have a conversation with me. I make a point of stopping in whenever I can and I love it there. I consider Keith's to be the heart of Lark Lane and I wouldn't change a single thing about it.

Had the chorizo and chicken bake off of the specials menu, not a bad portion for £8 but was nothing special in flavour, chicken was dry and needed more of the garlic mayo to moisten things up. The two slices of toasted baguette on the side were also pretty pointless. Maybe untoasted would be better to mop up juices.

Really Impressed by their brioche beef burger with cheese today. It came with a mountain of caramelised red onion and some salad. Didn't know what cheese they used but I loved it so much. The potion was generous. It's good value and filling. I washed it down with cranberry soda which was refreshing.

I lived around the corner from Keith's back in the 70's when I was a student. Went back on last Friday. It was like coming home. It is rough and ready, Service is relaxed. Exactly as it always was. A great atmosphere. Guess it is still a bit of a student hangout. I liked it for that!

Brilliant wine selection, beers could be better but 'ok'. Nice friendly staff, good service. Basic good food, a sure bet if you're hungry of a lunch time. Great ambience, same can't be said for the toilets - the only place in the building not to see a lick of paint in the past decade. Mother couldn't reach to flush the loo; she's only 4'11 - so take a step ladder with you if you're munchkin.

This is my second review of Keith's so speaks for itself the food is great and the price is fantastic the only thing I mentioned last time was the appearance of the place it was very run down and tired looking they have spent a bit of money and done some improvements and it's a much nicer feel. I think they could still do more but am glad to see the food is what they concentrate on.

Well I went here with my partner who is Turkish and the bar staff was so rude to him. Laughing in his face when he spoke. I rang and complained that evening and the lady was very apologetic and took my number and said Keith would ring me back as it was Easter Monday and still hasn't bothered. I just think it's so rude and I would never go here again. Disgusting x

Keith's is always a great place to stop in for a drink, good food and lively conversation. The garlic cheese and bread is a favourite. I always order the chicken dish whatever it is that day. The menu has many choices and you will always find something that suits your mood. Lark Lane gives you plenty of options for places to eat. Keith's should be on your list.

Look people, this is Keith’s Wine Bar, it is not The Ritz, The Beverley Hilton, The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and more to the point it is not the Bellagio on Las Vegas Boulevard. In October 2016, this joint started to get a bit of a renovation. Personally, I already liked the whole ambience of the place, the unsteady disjointed flooring, worn out dilapidated painted walls with damp in odd places and even tables that had marks, scratches, dried chewing gum stuck underneath and writing scrawled across the top of them like the old desks from school. I like this place so much, that I even asked a member of the bar staff to throw my name into the hat to Keith personally as I wanted to own his two little worn out 1920’s blue lamps that managed to barely hang on the walls in the small secluded little cove type room opposite the old fireplace, before he threw them out in the revamp of the place. Let’s be quite frank here, those two blue lamps looked like they were salvaged from one of the cabins of the Titanic 30 years after it sank under the dark ocean, but they were great and I wanted some of the old Keith’s memorabilia to hang up in my house. Then guess what happened, the painters and decorators moved in, followed by the builders, plasterers and then the carpenters that have now all collaborated to put their own little signature and creativity to the place.Keith’s Wine Bar has had a makeover ladies and gentleman. The Queen didn’t make a special visit for the grand reopening ceremony, neither did Sir Elton John or Keith Chegwin and George Clooney was occupied playing golf in Rhyl, North Wales on the day Keith’s opened for business again. But I did attend, and I saw the evidence of a spruced up Keith’s.Keith’s Wine Bar now boasts a new lick of paint on the outside and a new lick of paint on the inside. The flooring can now impress a builder’s spirit level like no one’s business and keep a marble stationary for over three minutes, but let’s not forget the new lighting and especially in my favourite little cove type room opposite the fireplace where I frequently have my afternoon and late night coffee alone, and frequently with friends too. Do I like the new lamps? No, no way, absolutely not, bring back the 1920’s blue lamps salvaged from the Titanic. What about the new makeover? It’s happy, cheerful and ticks the box.... but the old Keith’s decor was the best. On a high note, it is still Keith’s Wine Bar and I still like it every bit as much as the first day I went in there many years ago, even though Keith lashed out the fabulous blue 1920’s lamps into the bin that I wanted so much.I can come in here late at night and order my black coffee, providing the bar staff keep the coffee machine switched on late (bar staff, keep the coffee machine switched on and don’t switch it off until the dying moments *Wink Wink*, someone switched it off at 10pm bells last week). What’s the food like here? Good. I regularly order the soup of the day and my chicken wrap and it has always been a good choice. This place has history, great atmosphere, characters, and the ambience of Lark Lane. Window seats are optional but good for people watching. They sell wine and alcohol in Keith’s, I almost forget that vital bit in my passionate rant about the decor and salvaged blue lamps. We are not in Liverpool’s fabulous Bold Street, Liverpool One shopping centre or Liverpool’s Castle Street where pretentious bars and restaurants are continually opening up left, right and centre and all competing to tempt you into buying a boiled snail that is encrusted by a poached quail egg complete with the shell still on, topped off with a two inch by one inch slither of salt and pepper grilled chicken, a garnish of two angled cut sprigs of spring onion measuring just nine millimetres in length, three delicate slices of red chilli with the seeds still intact for that extra bit of kick and complimented with a red wine Au jus.We are in Keith’s Wine Bar in Lark Lane, Liverpool, L17 and it is a superb hangout for the old, young, laidback clientele, 60’s flower power people, hippies, trendy people, business people, people from the media, artistic and music culture and of course those people that just want to chill out somewhere peaceful and let the world go by. I have brought my American friends from Los Angeles to this bar on several occasions and they loved it, even when the floor surface resembled a bowling alley from the aftermath of The Blitz in 1940 and 1941, complete with the added kick to the teeth of dry rot and subsidence issues. Ok, it’s cards down on the table time people as I can hear the screams, yelling and profanity being directed at me from those unhappy people reading this that have a gripe about the toilets. The Ladies toilets, well, I must make a no comment interview at this stage as I have not been in the ladies toilets personally. But I am sure if a glamorous lady along the lines of Eva Longoria, Kate Beckinsale, Michelle Keegan or Susanna Reid (Susanna has no Z, no E and no H in her first name) from ITV’s Good Morning Britain wishes to give me a personal tour of the ladies toilets in Keith’s Wine Bar so that I can review it personally, then I will very much oblige and give an honest review. The guys toilets on the other hand, well, let’s see, it has a sink, two taps, a ceiling covered with intermittent patches of spray paint and graffiti from the 1970’s, it also boasts a urinal capable of accommodating two front facing standing men, and it also has a toilet cubicle that you can use if the urinals are currently occupied and you need to have a wee. But you will need to be 7ft 8 inches tall to pull the chain handle and flush the toilet after your wee as the handle is situated near to the ceiling on the toilet cistern. Small people, bring your own milk crate in case you require a wee and then you can reach the handle.I am a fussy individual, and in my spiel above I mention four delightful ladies that I would keenly date. As for Keith’s, I would have no hesitation in taking any one of those four ladies on my arm to Keith’s Wine Bar morning, noon or night for drinks, coffee, a bite to eat and good banter and flirtations across the table.Forget the overestimated, opulent restaurants and bars that want you to wipe your feet on zebra skinned mats when you walk through the door, that hand you a stained glass menu with antique wooden pages that are decorated with sequins and with an awful idiotic font resembling criminal damage and main courses that you cannot pronounce, only for you to order the starter of four olives drowning in olive oil with lashings of salt that will raise your blood pressure to great heights, accompanied by a tablespoon of dry dense cement like humus, several jigsaw pieces of pita bread that resemble fire damaged chipboard, and then the main event of the golf ball sized main course, a desert only big enough to satisfy the appetite of your miniature Yorkshire Terrier or Chiwawa and an atmosphere on par with being sat in the back of a Black Hackney Cab on a Friday night for a 200 mile journey with the current Prime Minister Theresa May sat next to you whilst you both watch the BBC Parliament repeats of the week on a mini TV.There is a conclusion I have reached concerning Keith's Wine Bar, that conclusion is to walk on past the overly lavish venues and swerve the taxi ride with Theresa and come to Keith’s Wine Bar and savour the ambience, good vibes and mismatched decor. Oh, one more thing, for a moment it almost slipped my mind, I must tell you, Keith’s Wine Bar also serves wine, alcohol, frequently has live bands on and I dislike it when a person sits at my regular chair and table.

I first visited Lark Lane in the 70's and fell in love with the place. Its been a long love affair which has never waivered. Sure its changed a tiny bit. There are a load more bars and eateries but the avant guard scouseness hasn't changed one iota. Keiths Wine Bar is the same now as it was then and every scouse muso from the 70's on has had a lot too many at Keiths after a session at The Albert (istitution #1) over the road. So if you want to feel real Liverpool, head to The Lane and whilst you are there grab a pint at The Albert and a glass or three and some food at Keiths. You will be smitten. Take a stroll into Sefton Park and the amazing Palm House. More songs must have been composed whilst sitting in Sevvy Park than any single place in Liverpool, other than the Pier Head...maybe.

I'm generally a fan of costa coffee - the tiffin is usually great, the coffee is fine. However, on this occasion it just didn't work. Quite a limited choice of food on offer, and one of the least friendly customer teams I've come across. The toasted sandwich also tasted a bit stale frankly. There was also no decaf coffee on offer. The tiffin was lovely however. Not sure I'll visit this branch again soon - better off going to other places around the corner.

Popped in for a takeaway order sandwich and was not disappointed by the variety of choices available. Reaching later int he day there were still plenty of sandwich options to choose from including hot and cold options. Great little place really enjoyed the food!

I visited with my wife to get a sandwich for our lunch and decided to use the toilet, upon opening the door to the toilet I was greeted by excrement spread on the seat and basin and urine all over the floor. I reported this to the person who was on the floor and he stated that he knew the situation and would get to it when he was ready. Upon hearing this I went and told my wife and left , we could not eat there seeing this.
