Popped in for a coffee with my sister. We both had a cappuccino and cheese scone which was served with a very tasty cheese, chutney and, a huge plus, plenty of butter. Oh and it was warm! I have to say the scone was one of the best I have tasted. I will order an extra shot in my coffee next time but that is personal preference. It was busy and we waited a while but I would happily return. It was busy, it was half term but the service was lovely. Thanks.

We enjoyed our lunch at Keepers, but disappointed that some items had sold out already at around 1.40. Waited a while to place our order - seemingly you order at the desk (where there is no menu) rather than at your table (where there is a menu.) However the food was pefectly cooked and nicely presented.

I’ve been a twice first experience was good, but cake is a bit overpriced. This cafe is canny to sit in, but my second experience was awful. Very rude staff and I won’t be going back. Nicer cafes in the area where you don’t get talked to like an idiot and embarrassed.

Dipton - never heard of it until my sister-in-law moved into the village and that's when we discovered Keeper's. Just made a second trip to Dipton and also a second trip to Keepers - the food is amazing, especially breakfast (sausage and bacon in a bap - and the baps have always been so soft and fresh). The cakes are to die for..... Service is friendly and efficient - it's great to see a small business be successful in villages such as Dipton - they do so much for the local community.... and hungry travellers.

A cafe run by people who love to cook, not just buy things in and heat them up in microwaves! These ladies are first class bakers; scones to die for, proper old fashioned home made cakes, corned beef pie like my mother used to make and sausage rolls that elevate the humble sausage roll to a delicasy and that's only a sample of the menu. The staff are lovely and the place is cosy and comfortable but still very child friendly. A word of warning however if you usually use mainsteam chain eateries this might not be what you are used to as every thing is made on the premises from scratch using only the very best locally sourced ingredients - that means it might cost a few pennies more, but it's worth it!

Found Keepers from a review website where it had her. Given good reviews, and they weren’t wrong. We both had Panini’s, both very nice. Coffee was good and the staff very friendly. Cakes and scones looked good, but we resisted.

Must have driven past this place loads of times & never noticed, what a shame because I’ve definitely missed out.Lovely little place (with a cosy snug too) homemade cake & pot of leaf tea, delightful. Warmed scone very tasty & crumbly but lemon & ginger cheesecake is awesome.Must tell all my friends about this place

Keeper's is on Front Street Dipton, the main A692 road between Consett and Gateshead, so it is about 12 miles to the north west of Durham City. The coffee shop does not have its own parking spaces but is right beside the free 40-space car park shared between visitors to the village and the Doctor's surgery.

Went for Afternoon Tea and it was well worth going, so pleased to have found this friendly family run place. Excellent food with a shop that sells local and unique gifts. Very calm and relaxing afternoon tea and nothing was too much for the friendly staff, would have liked a choice of sandwiches rather than just been given them but this did not detract from the food, service or ambiance of this lovely cafe and we will definitely go back for more.

I came here to meet a friend with my wife. It had been recommended to me on the bases that it is good for children and I wasn't disappointed. My 2 year old had a whale of a time playing in the play area whilst the adults had tea and homemade cake (delicious). The staff are friendly and attentive. I look forward to coming back in the future.

Small Gift/coffee shop. Very pleasant, clean and tidy with very pleasant staff. (Clean uni sex loo) There seemed to be regular events that take place in the shop eg. when we were there mums were taking advantage of a small play area at the rear of the shop. Don't worry there is plenty of space/areas to sit in the peace and quiet.

Fabulous cafe, caters for everyone (in separate rooms!) and gorgeous handmade (on site) food. The family team are fabulous, nothing is too much bother. And I loved that they sell locally made gifts too. The family room is at the back of the cafe and means there is somewhere specific for children.

Called here the other day while out with my wife, really pleased we did!what a gem of a place!warm and friendly staff, and the food was excellent. I suppose a sausage and bacon roll is nothing to rave about, but mine was like angels dancing on my tongue. Locally sourced produce. We even ended up buying a teddy for our future grandchild, forgot to mention they do gifts too! I know for sure we'll be back!

I regularly go to Keepers for either take out or sit in. Got to say their Chicken BLT type sandwich is the best I've ever had & we like to treat ourselves to them now & again. Always have a lovely range of cakes in. Marmalade cake is amazing and cheesecakes are always out of this world. Cakes are never dry...it can be difficult to find cakes that aren't too dry in the local area in similar cafes. The staff are absolutely lovely, friendly & helpful. Sells some lovely little gifts. Decor is lovely. If my children were smaller they would love the little play area.

What a find! A friend suggested we came here for a catch up and what a delightful coffee stop. The staff were just fab - smiley, friendly and happy which is what you want to see. A gem of a place for me as a foster carer as there was a small play area at the back for little ones. I didn't have anyone with me on this visit but will definitely be back with hubbie and little ones. Cake and coffee were delicious and very good value in comparison to other places I regularly visit. Loved the gifts and cards and needless to say couldn't resist spending a little more. Thank you for a lovely few hours with a friend! Julia :)

Just popped in for a cuppa and although I didn't intend to have anything to eat it, it would have been rude not to have had a slice of the salted caramel cheesecake. It really was the best and certainly hit the spot. It's a busy little place which is child friendly and also stocks a variety of trinkets and gifts for all ages - made by local people which is a nice touch. There's plenty of reading material for us solo patrons to take time savouring the cake - of which there is so much choice the dilemma is which one to choose. Thank goodness they do take away so I will look forward to the cheese scone and lemon tart later on.

Came here with a friend for coffee and cake. I had a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and it was delicious, I couldn't eat it all in one sitting but the staff were kind enough to give me a to go box. A brilliant experience from beginning to end. Situated alongside the main A692 road through the village with good public parking makes Keepers easy to find and go to without the worry of car parking. The premises is attractive both externally and internally with an appropriate gift area on entry. There is the main cafe area and a quite quaint snug room inside. There is also a children,s play area which is well equipped and secure. The staff there were friendly approachable and very efficient with orders. Nothing was any trouble to them. I opted for the meat platter and was not disappointed. The quality and range was excellent and one of the best platters I have had. On seeing the range of home made cakes I soon realised my visit would not be complete without a mandatory coffee with a delicious lemon cake. My Wife had the Ploughmans Platter which was equally as impressive and like myself could not resist an incredible Raspberry Fool. Nice establishment, brilliant staff and service with a good range of high quality food which was very realistically priced. My first visit but certainly not my last

We had soup and a goat's cheese/beetroot salad. Both were very nice but the soup was quite thin and we could have done with a bit more bread. My salad was miniscule in size and I felt a little short changed. However we also had cake including snickrers tray bake and the best carrot cake I have ever eaten!! It was as light as a feather, packed with juicy sultanas and had a delightful orange flavour. Staff were pleasant, the play area for little children is always a winner and the snug area is very nice to sit in. We won't go back for the main courses but we will go back for the coffee and cake!

We often visit Keeper's Café for coffee and cake, it's a great find! The café has a relaxed feel, they serve delicious homemade cakes and coffee as well as meals. Children are well catered for as the café has a children's indoor play area to the rear and a children's menu; there are also baby changing facilities which are clean and bright. With being very local to me, I've visited quite a few times now but this is the first time I've reviewed it. This is such a wonderful place and its great to have in the centre of the village. Food is wonderful, fresh and home cooked and the choices are great. There is a little play area for the kids, which my son loves to go in instead of being stuck in his highchair - such a lovely touch. Also there's a separate comfy seating area which I took great advantage of yesterday, whilst reading through their pile of newspapers and magazines, enjoying a loose leaf tea courtesy of my loyalty card! All great touches to make this an upmarket establishment. Great giftshop of vintage crafts too. Well worth a visit!
