Keelings Fish Bar in Barnsley

Just moved to Barnsley and tried this little gem! Great food, all fresh and staff were lovely! Will definitely be returning!

Have visited Keelings a couple of times since recently moving to the Kingstone area. Very good quality fish and chips, done properly. The batter is crispy and light, and fish is cooked fresh upon entry. Portion sizes are generous and for £7 you really can't go wrong for value. Owner and staff are really friendly and seem like genuine nice people. Thanks guys!

Best fish and chips in town. Home made fish cakes and fruit curry sauce, wonderful people who get it right every time. 100% must try if you're in the mood.

Lovely owners and always hot and fresh. However the lady who served me today didn't listen to me when I placed my order. I had to repeat myself and still forgot the scraps and salt and vinegar and nearly wrapped up before I managed to throw some on! No need to rush and need to listen better.

At last a place in the area that does gluten free, wonderful fishcakes, really tasty and certainly a decent curry sauce, chips and fish as good as they come, many thanks. Have to say the last couple of visits have seen far too much oil on the fish and chips, paper wrapping heavily stained and obviously the taste affected.

Fabulous fish and chip shop. Just about everything is gluten free and if it isn’t it’s cooked and stored separately. Very tasty haddock and chips and the portions are huge. Excellent gf batter. I would recommend this place to anyone who has to eat gluten free and even if you don’t need to you will love the food here. Price wise, better value than many places I have been to. I will be returning

Just been here for gluton free fish and chips. I consider myself an expert and love them. I have just started a gluton free lifestyle. These are among the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. Even my long suffering husband, who isn't keen on them, said they were the best he has had. Three hours later and no indigestion or acid or anything. Fantastic!!

Fish was very thin not good over cooked poor for the price

Went with partner and young twins and sat outside. The owners were lovely, genuine people and couldn't do enough for us Large Gluten Free fish was fantastic and great price, same goes for the rest of the food. A lot of places seem to do GF food as an after-thought, but as the owner here is coeliac he totally gets it and nearly everything is Gluten Free. Keep doing what you are doing and thank you

Outstanding!! Highly Recommend! I find it difficult to find gluten free dining options to get excited about but when I read about Keelings I just had to try them. The husband (although not gluten free) enjoyed his meal immensely, saying he wouldn't know the difference. The batter on both the fish and sausage was crispy and delicious. When we went to collect the food it was a pleasure to chat to Ian about the produce and ingredients he uses, he is obviously passionate and knowledgable about what he does. Thank you to Ian and team for the experience. We will be back next time we are visiting from Spain!

Excellent for gluten free, it's been awhile since my partner has been able to have fish and chips due to being diagnosed a celiac. They had both GF and normal curry, gluten free battered fish and chips. Which tasted delicious.

My son is gluten free and trying to find somewhere we can all eat is very difficult. Finding this place was brilliant. We all enjoyed our fish and chips and it tasted great. I would highly recommend anyone that wants a great tasting gluten free fish and chips to give this place a visit

Always worth a visit to Keeling's. Ian is so knowledgeable about cross contamination and you can eat without worrying it will make you ill if you have a gluten intolerance or Coeliac disease. Always so friendly and the food is amazing. I only drive from Penistone but I would definitely recommend to anyone even if you live in Los Angeles and are visiting the UK.

Still the best fish and chips in Barnsley, especially if you suffer with coeliacs disease. Recommended!

Top notch gluten free fish and chips at a good price. We travel from Sheffield to visit here. Entirely gluten free (bar the pies which are cooked separately) and mostly dairy free. The homemade fish cakes are lovely too. Consistly good, bar one time we went about 30 mins before closing and the food wasn't great (I think they'd started turning things off ect). Our favourite 'local' chippy!

We drove from Stoke-on-Trent to Barnsley, straight to Keelings fish & chips. We had two cod & chips, a haddock and chips and two coffees... PROPER fish, cooked to order, crispy, light batter, perfect chips. Even the instant coffee was lovely! The lady & gentleman who served us couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. A perfect little gem, spotlessly clean, a lucky community to have them! We will be back one day! THANK YOU!

Excellent fish and chips every time from a spotless shop with friendly efficient service. Some chippies are up and down on quality but you can always rely on getting great fish and chips here.

This is a chippy that reminds me of when I was a kid. Quality food, great value and cooked to perfection. The fish cakes are amazing, as is the fruit curry. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I’ve never been to a better chippy. Thanks Ian & co.

This is by far the best proper chippy within 20 miles. Thr fish are fresh with crispy batter and plenty of chips. The fruity curry sauce is awesome. Ian and the staff are really friendly and efficient. Worth the drive from wherever you may be! Gluten free options too. The Best.

Best fish n chips have had for ages

I was recommended this chip shop by many of my friends/ family and I wasn't disappointed, the chips are nice and the fish is amazing and all for a reasonable price, only down side is that it's cash only.

Friendly staff. Great taste and super clean. Very good value for money. Just love it.

The chips were a little greasy, large beans were probably the largest portion of beans I've had from any chippy & the batter on the sausage is probably the best I've tasted, what I call a proper chippy!

We visited here as we have just moved to the area and they are highly rated - can see why! We were served by a very friendly owner who is clearly very passionate about his business. We left with our food and as I walked down the step I saw my fianceé trip and drop her meal. The owner rushed out to check she was ok as his member of staff made another without question and he would not accept payment for it. Second time around we made it to the car and tucked into a fantastic fish and chips. Defiant regulars from now on
