Nice little place and the food was really good. They do prefer cash if you can. Someone had an afternoon tea when we were there and it looked really nice. Car parking can be a little difficult but you can park on the street next to it. They also cater for up to 50 people outside if you arrange with them. The staff were very polite and friendly.

Second visit here, this time on our way back from Northumberland. We revisited as the food and service the first time was excellent. This time I tried the special which was Home Made beef burger and a Milk Shake. I didn’t take a photo of the food this time as I plain forgot but the burger was really nice. It stood with the best burgers I have eaten, very good value at £10 with the shake too. We will always plan a stop here when heading North 👍🏻

We drove past this accidentally as the sign and exterior were slightly unassuming. Once located though we got a friendly welcome and though initially not enough space indoors as soon as a table came free we were summoned in. We were on our way to the incredible Roman ruins at Homesteads when we happened upon this gem.It is a "folksy" cafe with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that is exuded not only by the simple, clean decor but also by the lovely staff. The food is uncomplicated and of excellent quality. Sandwiches, soups, or basic meals of a more substantive nature are locally sourced and delicious. The location is ideal if you want to make a quick stop on your way to the Roman ruins which are literally within half an hour's drive on the same road as you head away from Carlisle.Highly recommended!

Ik denk the place to be want er komt ook heel veel lokaal volk. Zeker even langs gaan het soort taart dat je kan eten is afhankelijk van dag tot dag dus ook nog eens vers.

Found this by chance whilst visiting Hadrian's Wall because I didn't want to faff around at a pub a few miles away that had a pay and display car park. Thank goodness I found this place. I visited with two young children at the end of the day. The staff couldn't have been kinder and more accommodating. The coffee was great and food amazing. We had a late lunch and we were not rushed at all even though the cafe was closing soon. Staff were chatty and helpful and we weren't ripped off by some of the tourist prices in the area. We all had a great value lunch. Locals came in who were clearly regulars and were very positive about the cafe. I would go out of my way to come back here. Fantastic

Popped in after refurb/new ownership to sample new menu. Very good range of sandwiches, paninis and scones. The special board had a full English breakfast available so this was ordered. Along came a huge plateful of fried egg, beans, 2 bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, 2 black pudding and 2 slices of toast and butter. Brilliant meal. The only gripe I have is the plate was stone cold affecting the beautiful on it. This made me rush to eat it before it went cold, this only minor fault which brought me to rate 4 stars. If attention to detail is improved 5 stars will come.

Just yards off the busy A69 in a tiny village in a wooded valley, we stopped here for a take-away sandwich on our second day hiking Hadrian's Wall. 6 of us enjoyed a cup of tea and lovely home-made cakes here after a strenuous day's walking on Hadrian's Wall. Friendly, helpful staff who showed us lots of other lovely cakes besides the ones we bought and ate. They also allowed us to order sandwiches for the next morning to take on our walk. The next day was Sunday when they normally opened at 10am but they were happy for us to pick up the sandwiches at 9.30am. The sandwiches were ready and waiting for us and freshly made - the only down point was they weren't especially tasty (not as good as the cakes!) but still very convenient as we were staying across the road at the Greenhead Hotel.
