Second visit recently and have had totally different experiences. First one was faultless, second on 1st November hasn't got me wanting to return. We arrived at 2.20 pm, cafe closes at 3 pm. Staff were only interested in closing time. Many cakes had already been put away. When jacket potato was served, cut into it and could tell potato was frozen in the middle, rest of potato was clay cold, quite unacceptable. Wasn't impressed with the sorry received. Others who came in after us did not receive a warm welcome being told ruffly that they closed at 3pm or at 2:40 telling a family there was only takeaway hot drinks available. Won't return. Pleasantness costs nothing

Lovely cafe with loads on the menu including some excellent cakes and sweet treats! Called in here for lunch and didn’t regret it, loads of parking, very accessible and friendly staff. Dogs also welcome which is great and some outdoor seating if the weather is decent. The food was also decent quality. Based on my visit, would totally recommend if you’re in the area for a bite to eat or drink.

Cup of tea ok, nice cakes. Very unwelcoming and cold atmosphere. Signs saying immigrants welcome, which is understandable since its in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure if it was in Preston, Bradford, Leeds etc they'd change their tune. I don't like virtue signalling. It's kind of patronising coming from those who know nothing of living amongst illegal immigrants.

I come here once a month so it is time I left a review. The staff is always friendly, no matter how busy it gets. The food is something to look forward to, you often meet friendly people, on a sunny day you can even sit outside. Sometimes you have to pay cash not by card, so be prepared. We have always been happy here, and will continue to come back.

Often meet friends and/or family here as it is handily placed just off A69 between Newcastle and Carlisle. Often you can here accents from all over the world in here because of the Romans Wall path, and everyone seems to enjoy being in here. Keep up the good work lasses.

Been coming here maybe twice a year for years but don’t recall reviewing. Todays visit on Sat on May BH weekend saw me and mam call in on our way to the Lakes. Bacon and mushrooms bap for me, bacon bap for mam. Pot of tea for mam. Americano my end. Baps were good! Generously filled. Bread was great. I thought (and this is unsubstantiated) I tasted a spread akin to St Ivel Gold which I really enjoyed - but it also could have easily not been. Coffee good. Mam said her tea was ‘lovely’ and once again we were happy with this cafe, happy to tip, and we are happy to return. One point was mam asked for her bacon ‘well done’ and while the bacon was cooked beyond cooking point, it was only just so. Could have done with another five mins and it would have been perfect for mam. For those readers not familiar with the location, this cafe is just down the road from a fab section of Hadrian’s Wall and you could pop in here before or after. It really is worth seeing.

Heel ongedwongen rustige sfeer, lekkere snacks, een lekkere bak koffie en wat een lekkere taarten (huisgemaakt). Ongelooflijk vriendelijke bediening, heel net en proper. Ik denk the place to be want er komt ook heel veel lokaal volk. Zeker even langs gaan het soort taart dat je kan eten is afhankelijk van dag tot dag dus ook nog eens vers.

I visited with two young children at the end of the day. The staff couldn't have been kinder and more accommodating. The coffee was great and food amazing. We had a late lunch and we were not rushed at all even though the cafe was closing soon. Staff were chatty and helpful and we weren't ripped off by some of the tourist prices in the area. Along came a huge plateful of fried egg, beans, 2 bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, 2 black pudding and 2 slices of toast and butter. Brilliant meal. The only gripe I have is the plate was stone cold affecting the beautiful on it. This made me rush to eat it before it went cold, this only minor fault which brought me to rate 4 stars. If attention to detail is improved 5 stars will come.

We have visited this restaurant many times over the past 20 years and have always had impeccable service and exceptional food in a beautiful setting. It was always a special treat for us and highly regarded by friends and family. I am aware of the recent change of ownership. Things have certainly changed here and not for the better. No table cloths, paper napkins, slate mats, mediocre to poor service, orders taken on iPad. Food was ok but not what it once was. Lots of chips in buckets. I won’t go into the minutia of the meal but overall disappointed. Very sad.
