This is it…. A restaurant where you walk in and it just brings you to another place. Talking about authenticity. My go to place for sushi whenever I’m in Oxford.

Kind staff, delicious food. The roast duck ramen is a crunchy, yummy treat, and the mango juice is sweet and cold.

The word superb, springs to mind! I have never had a bad dish from Kazan and the service is absolutely always, impeccable. Super fresh sashimi, it melts in your mouth, the salmon salad is always ludicrously tasty. I eat in with my dad (who is beyond fussy and loves it here!) and regularly pop in for takeaways when friends are coming round to me… You should go, if you haven’t already. If you have, well then you know.

I went to collect an order, as soon as I walked in I smelt something different and I knew this spot was not joking about… hands down one of the best food spots in Oxford. Every time I eat this my tastebuds start dancing. They really don’t play about most authentic food in Oxford

Best Japanese food I've had in the whole of Oxfordshire. Everything is delicious and freshly cooked and served with a smile. My kids love it here too, great atmosphere excellent value and service, its ALL yummy! I especially love the roast pork ramen with the Kazan Volcano soup!

Normally I like ordering by deliveroo and testing the delicious food in my house. It is always good and fresh. Also they leave a menu inside the pack so the next time I can see other speciality.....

My favourite restaurant in Oxford. Always friendly and rapid service. Everything on the menu is fresh and top notch. Personal favourite are the sashimi and sushi. Kids love the chicken and dumplings.

I love this restaurant as the food is excellent, really good sushi and pretty reasonably priced. Service can be a bit sharp but my main criticism is the opening times. Who closes a restaurant at 2pm on a Saturday and at 9.30pm. No one wants to be rushed at the weekend. If you book dinner for 8.30pm you have one hour to eat. Please make the opening times a bit more customer friendly.

Quite cramped but excellent vegetarian bento box- everything was very tasty. Rapid service.

The staff were very friendly and attentive which is always great. The food was also really delicious - I ordered the Volcano roll sushi and a Bento box. It was plenty of food and I had to take some home. I am looking forward to enjoying my leftovers. I will be coming back in the future!

The food is good, however one of the waitresses always makes us feel uncomfortable because of her bad attitude and her disengaged face. She could try and make an effort to appear happier.

The absolute best in Oxford! Authentic japanese flavours - my personal favourites: pork ramen with miso base and japanese curry katsu pork. Staff is very kind, food is amazing wether you dine in or take away.

Restaurant was quite full but there was a table that could fit a pax of 5 if accommodated to. We were looking forward to trying this restaurant with a lot of excitement. However immensely disappointed with service we were met with. Waitress told us there were no seats for us, did not try to accommodate us, and even talked about us in cantonese to another customer thinking we wouldn’t understand. Rudest and degrading encounter so far with any Asian owned restaurant. We were left standing at the entrance awkwardly, feeling unwelcome and embarrassed by the entire interaction. Because of the impression, am not the slightest bit interested to go back. Bad service, unhappy customers.

We got takeout and it was one of the best meals i’ve ever had. The vegetarian katsu curry with noodles and maki were purchased. The noodles tasted SO unique and well balanced.

Consistently delicious, innovative japanese-style cuisine. The staff are always lovely. Dishes both look great and taste amazing. My personal favourite is the hearty tonkotsu udon with pork (feels like a two-course meal). For pudding, I suggest trying black sesame ice cream.

We had a lovely time there. Although the food was very good, my chicken karagee wasn't exactly what it should be. The service and the décor were also nice. Food portion and price were reasonable.

Good valued. Sushi rolls are delicious. Fried pork is crispy, but a bit dry. Ramen is below average. Beef rice is spicy and tasty.

Had a delivery pickup they refused as i was on a bike wasted time.

The food at this restaurant was absolutely awesome and the service was great too! My partner and I both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, we got vegetarian food (2x Veggie bento box, Yasi rolls and a tofu starter). Got to say, the portion sizes were really big! We struggled to eat it all, especially the bento! Everything tasted great and we were really impressed. We will be going back soon for another lovely meal!

A local favourite with extremely quick service and delicious food. The place has a great variety of sushi, noodles, and curries. Very affordable, too.

Ordered takeout sushi twice on different occasions and had serious vomiting afterwards on both occasions. First time I thought it was a coincidence because I have had sushi from different places before without any issues. But now vomiting the second time. Im not so sure.

Absolutely delicious and we were so full!

I go Kazan 2-3 times a month for just a quick and quality lunch. Today(Sunday) and wanted sushi for dinner, never been on dinner time or on Sunday so i checked the opening time if they are open. They are until 10pm. Turned up at 9pm, the place is empty and i see straight away the rolling eyes. Asked if they are open and they said, yes until 9:30pm I mentioned that sorry, on online its say 10pm. I been showned to the table got my menu and 20 second later the waiter was next to me if i am ready to order. She know that I am “regular” also that i order most of the time the same thing. I just asked if i can have a couple minutes but she just stand next to me and waiting. I felt the pressure so i went with my regular order. Then I been asked “Are you sure that all? You are the last order.” That was the moment when it was clear that they are not happy me turning up 1 hour before closing. I got my food in minutes and I asked some more sushi ginger from the 3 waiter who just stand there and looking into the distance. After another eyerolling just incase I did not get that I am not welcomed i got the ginger, finished my food in minutes (like always) and went to pay my bill and mentioned that sorry, but there might be an error becuse your closing time online is 10pm. The answer i got is 9:30pm! I said no I just checked before left the house… She was “NOO, its 9:30” raising the voice and walk off. Well, my money worth the same at 2pm 6pm and 9pm also. I understand that is Sunday and the end of the week, but that is not an excuse for this behaviour especially for a regular. Food is as importand as service! Its okay, lesson learned!

Got my wheelchair through the door and it was well worth it! Food was amazing. I had salmon salad, which was amazing. Also, not an extortionate price. My kids had roast pork soup. We also had their tea (both hot and cold), which was delicious. Would love to come again when I'm not on a diet.

Had two days in Oxford, and discovered this little gem on the first day. The best Japanese food we've had for a long time. The umami flavouring were spot on. The sushi was the best ever – the rice perfectly seasoned. The Crispy Kamo Amai sauce was the best ever, and the Kazon Cha-Ham completely more-rish. Needless to say, we knew where we were the following night, to try the rest of the menu that we hadn’t had space for the previous night. Not disappointed – really delicious food. Excellent and fast service even though the restaurant was fully booked. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.

I really enjoyed a big sushi dinner here over the weekend accompanied by plenty of sake bombs. Nice place!

Not sure I want to let the secret out. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Oxford. The food is excellent and good value for money. I prefer it to the the much fancier and overpriced Japanese restaurants in Oxford. Very highly recommended

Me and the family were really looking forward to dine here and it didn’t disappoint. Amazing sushi probably between the best in Oxford and great ramen👌👌. We all loved everything. Small place so book if you can, really recommend. Only downside we were with a baby and they have no high chairs.

This is the 3rd time we have stopped at Kazan on way home from up north. This isn't as nice as the first 2 times, the tempura was prepared and fried beforehand and refried, making the batter really hard, the ramen was slightly undercooked, could still taste the flour. The soup base was still very nice and flavoursome the sushi was still good. I'll chalk this up as a blip and plan to visit again.

I loved the place. Remarkably quick service. Helpful and friendly staff. Great location on London Road. The food is delicious. I tried the bento box- it has an assorted collection of various dishes- miso soup, rice, teriyaki chicken, gyoza, sushi, ebi katsu. All the food items were delectable. Ample quantity- difficult to finish all of it. Would definitely recommend.

Great food, great service, managed to cover a table of 10 for us, 3 kids, and a toddler... no high chair 😔 but the chairs easily take a mobile highchair attachment, so we were good. If I had to criticise, it would be the size of the place and the lack of high chair, but I also feel that criticism is only driven by the fact i was with a party of 10! The place is clearly not big, and nobody said it was. Would certainly recommend it, but not if you've got crazy kids

Delicious sushi rolls. Now I am on a quest to try all of the dragon varieties. Convenient parking just opposite the street near a park. Update: nothing has changed after a year - still making great sushi. Sushi plate sets offer good variety.

A very authentic small Japanese restaurant, really good and freshly prepared food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional Japanese restaurant, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the ambiance and attention to detail in the decor. It's my first time coming here. The food was really really nice and the staff were friendly. The tonkotsu ramen was really authentic with a milky broth. The fatty bit of the pork melted in my mouth. The portion of the wakame salad was really generous. I'd say it's enough for 4 people to share. If you like spicy food, you can ask the waiting staff for shichimi powder to put into the broth or even the wakame. The spicy tuna sushi roll was tasty too. I enjoyed the cold green tea and oolong tea with the meal. They're not sweetened but still well made. Honestly this is the best Japanese restaurant I've been to in the UK.

Had as takeaway only so can't comment on service in the restaurant. Prices can be quite steep for some items. I enjoyed some of the food however, like the takoyaki and the sushi. I found the chicken karaage was a bit over salted on one occasion.

Fried noodles were overcooked, soggy and bland. Sushi portion sizes are meager at best.

Service is bad, the waiter didn’t provide any good service (without smile, without asking,voice low…)but charging automatically for a 10% service fee. The food is acceptable but far from amazing or tasty. In combination with the price and other factors I would say there are better choices. 服务很差劲，全程冷冰冰板脸，几乎没有服务但是自动附加10%服务费。不算正统日料店。单价不算贵，菜品尚可，但是综合下来不值。

Their sushi roll is really good, especially the volcano rolls. Caring and friendly staff, very helpful to accommodate our request. The only downside was the 15 pieces sashimi we ordered especially the tuna and tako were not great.

I love Kazan Oxford. We get takeaway regularly and it is packed to exceptional standards (ensuring a safe cycle home). The sushi is excellent and incredibly fresh - as good as the best sushi places in London. Bento boxes are lovely, and so are the curries. Always want to try new things but I can't help getting my regular favourites - they're too good.

Delicious food with reasonable prices. The chicken teriyaki is the best I ever had. Good portion and service.

Despite plenty of empty tables we were refused entry because we had a pushchair. We offered to keep the pushchair by the door but they still said no. Would hate to see how they treated someone who came in a wheelchair or mobility scooter.

This is the worst ramen I have ever had in my whole life. The taste of ramen and the soup do not taste like the authentic Japanese style. Instead, they are like NISSIN instant noodles from an Asian supermarket. However, they probably can fool people who have not been to Japan since the food presentation is good. The waitress is not cheerful at all. No smile and do not have any greeting. Therefore, I would not recommend anyone to try the ramen here. There are lot more better choices in Oxford.

Unpleasant staff, and because the restaurant is small, the obvious internal conflict within the team spread throughout the room. Food was fine, but the lack of courtesy ruined the experience unfortunately.

We were visiting Oxford for the day and walked in asking for a table. The lady at the desk said without a reservation she would struggle to offer us a table. She kept rolling her eyes and huffing and puffing and was VERY rude. We were eventually offered a table for 4, we agreed to this as children were hungry and said we’d seat the youngest on our lap. The lady continued to speak to us in the rudest manner questioning how we would be seated. I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. I understand that we should have made a reservation but restaurants usually expect people will walk in without a reservation and should not be treated in such a disrespectful and rude manner. Another couple walked in after us asked for a table for two and were given a table they had claimed was reserved for four. The food was great but the customer service we received today was disgraceful. Our children loved the food but unfortunately due to the upsetting customer service we will not be visiting this restaurant again.

Best or close to best Japanese food in Oxfordshire, very authentic and delicious soup base, definitely recommended. We come here every week

Poor attention from the staff, the could certainly be a lot more welcoming, the food came out quickly but is extremely mediocre, my beef special was very chewy (appeared to be poor quality beef) and the katsu curry was simply all right. Better choices available in Oxford for the same money. Stacked the plates and waited for at least 5 minutes with them on the table before anyone bothered to ask if we’re done.

It was alright. Just an asian restaurant in a foreign country. We had ramen and some california rolls. Ramen broth is not that authentic Japanese style, could be thicker. The rolls very saucy and rice in them seasoned a bit too sweet. And I would have liked it more if they had rice noodle options.

This is an absolute GEM 💎. The sushi was out of this world. The flavour of everything we had was on point. Really glad to of found this place. And they deliver... Brilliant. 100% recommended. Thanks Kazan

Food and service was good. On an improvement note the service lady could be slightly more cheerful but this didn't effect food quality. Overall a good experience and have visited again and again.

Busy little spot. I had the red dragon roll and a salmon maki roll. Both were delicious, but I could have done with a little less lettuce in my maki roll. My date had a salmon teriyaki bento. Everything included was delightful. I've eaten a lot of sushi, and I wouldn't say this is the greatest ever, but it did hit the spot much better than other sushi restaurants I've had in the UK so far. After being seated though, it took about 10 minutes before we were given menus. Overall, it's a good spot.

Overall have been very happy with the quality of our orders over a period of 2 years (sushi, gyoza, katsu, starters). Very good value for money IMO, and good interface with delivery firms - we generally get our food quick and still hot. Staff have been in my experience helpful at resolving any issues.

Been here twice and both times were excellent. £15 plate of sushi was delicious. Miso soup at £3 very flavorful. In the past had great katsu curry (£12ish o think) and plwntify noodle soup for similar. Not many tables so book early to avoid disappointment I will keep going back!

Well quality of food but sushi with bone

I love this restaurant. Great ambience if you want to sit inside. The plates and jugs are pretty and add to the character. Speedy takeaway on offer too. Food is always served quickly and beautiful quality. Fair price for quality you get. I’m a regular!

Really fast delivery, the noodles were ok, a bit too spicy for my personal taste, however the mango mochi is a must! I would eat the all day! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
