Awful experience here. Serving staff clearly working in difficult circumstances and were very polite, food however was awful. Most of our party left a a lot of food. Was dry bland and gave me an upset stomach. Food came out of kitchen at various times leaving food going cold whilst awaiting for the whole of our meal. Shocking experience

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kathmandu Nepalese and Indian Cuisine in Launceston, and it was an incredible experience! We used Kathmandu regularly for takeaways and always find them to be excellent. We had never eaten in the restaurant before tonight, but I can honestly say it was even better than expected. The service was quick and the chap looking after us was so friendly and lovely! Great prices too. I'd highly recommend Kathmandu, it is quite honestly the best place in Lanson for a curry!

We had a very pleasant evening with good food, excellent service and a very friendly welcome from the owner. Convenient, central location, just opposite Launceston Castle.

Literally the only decent restaurant left here in Launceston at an affordable price, if you're in town and looking for something to eat and food which is made by people who care, this would be your place.

Many menu items were authentic dishes from Nepal. The Gurkhali chicken was really yummy, similar to a sweet and sour dish. Great lemon rice and sag aloo. Many menu items were cooked without wheat, and our really helpful Nepalese waiter was helpful talking me through the menu options so I could choose the duck Tikka with Nepalese spices. Sadly no dessert options, but maybe that's more authentic (better for the figure too!)

genuinely friendly, welcoming atmosphere with a lot of care and attention to customer requests such as spice level. the food was incredible, delicious and well cooked, onions buttery and sweet, naan fluffy and soft, paneer crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. we stopped by while travelling through and were so pleasantly surprised. just wish we lived closer so we could come again!

Beautiful food authentic Indian and Nepal chefs not the cheapest but that can be forgiven for the quality.

Wife and I ate here tonight first time in a while..we can't believe we waited so long... food superb.. king prawn Kari so rich .. prawns perfect. Wife mentioned not liking coriander... no problem. We both had a delicious meal. Portions just perfect for me (I eat a large meal) Wife couldn't finish just too much. Highly recommend

Ideal restaurant location when attending events at Launceston Town Hall. I ordered the LAMB MO MO and husband ordered BHUTUWA. Also had PILAU RICE a side of MUSHROOM BHAJI which was a large portion even for two people and was delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly and the restaurant was busy with people going to the show. Would book again - Thank you.

The owner (Chico) was very friendly, interesting and happy to help us choose and personalise our orders. Food was delicious and we were not dissatisfied with Chico’s recommendations. Loads of vegetables in the veg Karahi and really nicely cooked! All the other dishes were superb as well.

The best biryani I have had in the UK, I have had a some in India and this was authentic! My wife enjoyed her chicken jalfrezi which had a good heat and generous portion. We will defnatly be eating at the Kathmandu again.

The food is fine, the service is extremely poor. Order confirmation said delivery would be 45 minutes but was an hour and a half. When it arrived it wasn’t all there, the girl who answered the phone couldn’t have cared less, her boss said it would be approx. 30 minutes if we wanted the missing items to be delivered as the driver was on his way to the next delivery. The driver couldn’t have been very far away as he’d only left the door 5 minutes prior. Wouldn’t have minded the mistake if it had been dealt with efficiently.

Disappointing experience. Booked to dine in for first time as we were missing our previous Nepalese restaurant. We were the only diners for at least an hour. It took a while for anyone to take our drinks order and then I had to ask for mine when only my husbands was bought over. The young girls front of house were more interested in their mobile phones and openly moaning about how the manager would not let them have the heating on. Very unprofessional. We were warned the starter would be 20 mins. We waited forty five mins. They seem more interested in getting the take aways out and definitely at the expense of sitting in diners. Probably explains why it was so quiet. Very little authentic Nepalese on the menu. It was 1 hrs 35 before we got our main course. Food was ok but my husband had an upset stomach the next day. Would not return. Advice to management, please invest in some training for your front of house staff so your diners get better service and just advertise as Indian, not Nepalese

Had a lovely evening here catching up with old friends. Service was great and the food was delicious (far too much of it though!!) The owner was really committed to our enjoyment and even shared his recipe for the Takka Dahl!!

The food is excellent, it takes about 30-45 minutes waiting time but the quality is superb. Portions are generous, prices have gone up but hasn't everything of course Covid is blamed! Highly recommended.

A great meal out. Quick service and good food. Vindaloo was really well done. Nice and spicy without killing you! The kids loved the butter chicken, coconut rice was nice and the bhaji was decent too. Maybe the people 1star reviewing it for delayed delivery should also comment on the actual food? Maybe pick up a paper and see how much hospitality/restaurants are struggling at the moment! Would visit again!

I decided to try the Kathmandu for the first time last night. I ordered a takeaway online around 6.30pm. They gave me a choice of time to collect. I chose collection at 7.15pm. My son was collecting the takeaway for me on his way to my house and when he hadn't arrived at mine by 7.50pm I rang the Kathmandu to be told he had just left with my order. Although you expect to wait for food to be freshly prepared I would have thought ordering it 45 minutes in advance would have been sufficient, obviously not. Had I known in advance that it would be 1 hour 20 minutes from ordering I wouldn't have ordered.

Visited with family including small children. amazing food, lovely staff would highly recommend. One of the best India meals we have had, great presentation also. Thank you

Ordered a takeaway for our last night on holiday as a treat for our daughter. Curry arrived an hour late so ended up having to cook anyway and left with a disappointed toddler. When my husband called they refused to remove the £8 delivery charge or offer a discount without having to drive in and get it. A courtesy call to say they’re running late, or a discount would have been the polite thing to do. Would not recommend.

Nice place to have Indian cuisine. For vegetarians, they have got some good variety to order from. We especially liked momos and the dip it comes with. Paneer and Dhal Tadka were also nice. The staff is very friendly and and also provided some pickles n sliced onions on request. We visited the restaurant based on Google reviews while in Cornwall for vacation and would rate the same. 4stars for food (not what you get back home in India but still close) and 5stars for staff’s hospitality. All the best guys.

We dropped in here when visiting friends nearby. The food was absolutely excellent and the staff were lovely and really friendly. Would visit constantly if we were local. I had the Hariyali chicken which was one of the best things I've ever tasted.

Visited as a large group (8 of us) The food was amazing The service was friendly and unhurried Gurkha beer 🍻nice but strong! Really enjoyed this meal - to be honest its one of the best curry ive had - cooked spot on, well presented and service with a smile If im in the area again i will definitely re visit this place and highly recommend it

An average curry, and below average service. I’d advise that you pay cash on collection, that way if your food arrives (very) late and there is no offer of compensation at least you can refuse to pay the full price.

Happened upon this gem of a place by pure fluke (the only place open). The head waiter rotates as head chef and knew all the dishes inside out, gave excellent recommendations. Everything made to orde, fresh, tasty. Couldn't fault it. Hasta la vista, baby.
