I decided to go to Kate's Kitchen after a friend recommended it in conversation and as I was conveniently across the road in Majestic wines stocking up for an upcoming wine tasting soirée. So I though why not pop in for a treat and what a delight it was. Firstly what excellent surroundings the cafe is set in great for a peaceful walk. I order a slice of the cardamom and banana vegan cake and a soya latte but once seeing the menu simply had to order more. As well as the banana cake the Lamb, lemon and apricot koftas with tahini dip were absolutely divine. More than enough for a lunch time sneak but I just couldn’t resist. I see the reviews below are commenting on bad service but I don’t feel that should shun the excellent array of food that was on offer, although my service experience was pleasant. I was also happy to discover they're able to cater for 300+ which I shall defiantly be using there culinary expertise for in the future. Overall delightful food and service. I shall defiantly be returning with my ladies luncheon group very soon!

Been wanting to visit this cafe for ages, as i've heard really great things about the food - I was not let down!! They offer great range of food and cakes, at reasonable prices, and vegan options too. I had the vegan cake and it was DELICIOUS. My friend had The Arnos from the brunch menu, which she also really enjoyed. Will definitely be back :)

I was told about this cafe through a friend who recommended it highly. I wasn't let down, the service was warm and friendly and I ordered one of their infamous coffee cakes which went down an absolute treat. The coffeee was well made and afterwards I went for a walk around the glorious grounds of Arnos Vale. Highly recommended.

Echo the comments of other reviewers - waited an hour & 10 mins for a croque monsieur, breakfast & a tea cake. The waitresses offered no apologies which was a shame as I think that would’ve made all the difference. Food was cold when it finally arrived. Avoid.

I think the low review on this occasion is probably due to a few things really - it was quite late in the day and whilst the closing time was 16.30 - the closed sign went over at 16.00 - yes as with other reviews the service was slow, but not a big counter area for even 2 people to work They have got busier with the Grommet being there and was hardly any cake left which is a shame but the grommets do bring a large amount of people through and as this café is in a remoter location and with a place of interest such as Arnos vale then people are going to make a more special visit and have cakes etc. - especially as this will appeal to children Not much seating inside but plenty outside on a nice day As it was the end of the day they were serving hot drinks in takeaway cups - in the last 1/2 hour. A closing time is a closing time or at least make it clear that last orders are 1/2 hour before the closing time It is a superb café in a potentially good location value was about normal for a cafe

Our family have been frequent visitors to the cafe at Arnos Vale and have always enjoyed the delicious cakes and friendly atmosphere. Following the arrival of the Gromit outside it’s certainly got a lot busier but as regulars we don’t mind a bit of an extra wait for a slice of the wonderful lemon cake especially when you see the staff working so hard. Keep up the good work!

Went here today to look at the Gromit and then grab a quick bite to eat for lunch. The cafe was clearly quite busy when we arrived but we didn't think too much of it. We then proceeded to wait well over an hour for a sausage sandwich and two croque monsieurs. After about half an hour I asked where our food was, to be told it would be 5 minutes. It took another 40 minutes and asking several times before it arrived. The man serving who told me it would be 5 minutes also told me later that we were next, then promptly brought out someone else's food. I really hated being lied to. I have a very young baby plus a toddler who was very patient but ultimately grumpy and hungry. It's such a shame because the food was very tasty when it came and the location is great. The place just really let itself down with too few staff and no honesty about the situation. We were refunded our food money (as were others so goodness knows now this business model works!) But it still left us feeling angry and like we'd wasted a lot of the day.

A warm sunny day in the school holidays. Mid-afternoon. Quite a few families there to see the Gromit outside and quite a few using the cafe. But just one member of staff behind the counter, having to do absolutely everything. We waited in the small queue for over 5 minutes, but then as we neared the counter the girl said she'd have to stop taking people's orders and start making their coffees etc. We waited another 5 minutes whilst she began doing so and taking them out to the tables. Then, with no hope of getting served in the near future, we gave up and left. I cannot understand the owners who presumably prefer to lose business than staff the cafe appropriately.

It was busy on a Sunday afternoon. We only ordered two lattes and waited half an hour. The staff weren't the friendliest, and when the drinks arrived they couldn't remember which was the soya milk. Thankfully I only have a mild intolerance and not a life threatening allergy. Once the lattes arrived, they were very nice. The inside of the cafe looks good, but the patio terrace looks drab. We're not in a rush to return.
