Really really lovely building with hand painted murals on all walls, super warm and friendly staff and really delicious fully vegan and fully gluten free food, its super wonderful and pleasantly filling and every meal has every component described on the menu, every single item is gluten free *and* vegan so super great. Lots of spicy, non-spicy and varied sauce options too, the "chicken" poké bowl I had was gorgeous and had lots of really delicious additional toppings, really fantastic with beautiful presentation. Cant begin to describe how friendly and kind the atmosphere was, the staff both waiting and welcoming are so lovely and the cooking staff clearly care about the outcome as all meals look and taste amazing, fantastic.

Our first visit to Kanu Poke and it was soooo good we ended up having a 3 course lunch 🤣 loved the fresh, distinct flavours, gorgeous colours and textures of all the dishes we tried. My fussy 11 yr old ate more veg in one sitting than the last month ! We loved every morsel. So amazing to have a fully vegan menu too, so much choice. We'll def be back!

We (group of 9, 4 adults 5 kids) went here for lunch a week today. They were super friendly, the food was amazing and it had a fun atmosphere. The food felt so nourishing and fresh…I could eat it everyday!

I’ve been to many vegan restaurants over the last decade, but none have been as incredible as Kanu Poké. It is hands down the best vegan restaurant I have ever been to, and for it to be fully gluten/nut-free is also so fantastic (and rare!) when it comes to vegan places. The restaurant is so quirky and colourful, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. I was even lucky enough to try one of their recipe tests of a fried oyster mushroom/fried chick’n, and it was so nice that I was even offered to try it. He is clearly so passionate about food which you can really taste in the dishes. The food is absolutely incredible, there are just so many amazing flavours going on at the one time. I hadn’t tasted anything like it from a uk restaurant until then. If you’re ever in Shrewsbury, having food from Kanu Poké is a no brainer!

Seriously adore this place - thr best vegan experience I've had for years.

The food was very nice though it took a fair while to arrive. Service was largely friendly though we got water on arriving but no glasses (which I found downstairs). I'd certainly eat here again but maybe during a quieter period - we arrived c2.30pm Saturday so probably peak time.

The food is always delicious- zingy and flavourful and really different from other vegan options in there town. The mock chicken I had on the waffle dish was the most realistic mock meat I have had in a very long time. Staff are always amazing too! Thoroughly recommend!!

Considering how long how I have been following Kanu Pokés journey and salivating over at least 100% of their content, plus living down the road in Bridgnorth, it was only today for the first time I finally get to go and have a bite to eat. To you guys guys I am truly sorry and feel a little cleansed from this confession, but honestly what an amazingly warm welcome with fantastic food and ambience. We didn't go fully in on an immersive dining experience as popping in for an early Sunday lunch (midday) and had a couple of Poke bowls. I had the Mexicana, which was great. The guys had tempted me with a little sample bowl with our drinks of their home made Hawaiian style beef jerky so had to order more for lunch! So good! My friend enjoyed the Kanu Raage, trading her rice for rainbow salad and both dishes were sooo tasty! I am sure someone had buffed my edamame beans.. they were the freshest greenest beans I ever did see! Their homemade sodas are so thirst quenching too! The lemon and lime bitters we could of drank a bucket full! Looking forward to returning for an evening, delving deeper into the menu 😎 As absolute gem of a place for Shrewsbury and Shropshire! 5 of the Goldest of stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Had a really lovely lunch in here. The staff were extremely nice and even explained some of the recipes to us. Would recommend the Mexicana Poke Bowl and the Mexicana style chicken and waffles! Drinks were great and the whole place was reasonably priced.

We were looking for lunch in Shrewsbury and as soon as we saw this on the map we knew we had to visit! Gorgeous restaurant with brilliant atmosphere and lovely staff. The food is unusual and delicious. I particularly liked the cow-Kanu skewers. Make sure you visit when you have plenty of time to enjoy!

Oh. My. God. It's hard to find restaurants that offer vegan food. It's even harder to find exclusively vegan restaurants. But to find a vegan restaurant like this?? Wow! We were returning from a holiday in Barmouth (where finding vegan food is basically impossible) and decided to stop off in Shrewsbury before we carried on home. This is probably the best decision we have ever made. Despite being long-time vegans, we have never tried poké, and this was the best place to have our first taste. We arrived and were seated quickly, and after perusing the menu we finally chose what we were going to have. There was a rush not long after we arrived so we were waiting quite a while for our food. There was also a slight hiccup with the children's menu not going through. However, it was more than worth the wait. Every bite of my meal had a different flavour profile, and every bite was delicious. Our 4 year old thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well, and any parent knows that young children can often be quite picky when it comes to trying new foods. Despite living nearly an hour away, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a delicious meal and a great experience in your beautiful restaurant!

One of the few times it’s great to be vegan. The food and drinks were rated by my friend so much that he brought me after being at Kanu for lunch with family the same day. My food order mistakenly didn’t go through but staff couldn’t have been more friendly or apologetic. Look forward to go back to try the food for myself, if they have me.

I honestly couldn't recommend Kanu Poke more and will be visiting again as soon as I'm back in Shrewsbury. I ordered the Phoenix Bowl which really packed a kick and was delicious, it'll be hard not to order it again on the next visit but looking at the menu it all looks so good. The entire vibe of the place is perfect and I love what they've done with the building, really transforming what were pretty boring and bland looking buildings before. I love the splash of colour it's brought to the town.

As a life long vegetarian, I wanted something that is not a meat alternative which were very few. For god sake use a ladle instead of your bare hands to scoop things from a jar.

Nut free kitchen! Not often you see that. Menu is explicitly nut free. Food was very tasty. Suitable for nut allergy.

After a long drive to Shrewsbury for work I was in need of something that wasn't fast food. So pleased I found this place, it was exactly what I needed. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was excellent( so good in fact that I got another bowl to takeaway for lunch the next day). The owner was really friendly and even took the time to suggest some places to look at whilst having an evening wander around the town.

Utterly delightful food, even the committed meat eater would be happy to return. Delicious, fresh and moreish. Yum yum yum yum yum. Super cocktails too.

Amazing totally gluten free, vegan restaurant like no other I've ever been in. The food was really tasty and interesting. Coconut, tofu, rice, seaweed, avocado, and many other interesting ingredients in one meal..it was a taste explosion! And many "home made" cordials on offer....has to be experienced to be believed. Decor also amazing, a pleasant and all together positive experience which is highly recommended.

What a great vegan restaurant! All the food was amazing and the atmosphere was attentive. The beef strips and the satay was delicious, although I wasn't a huge fan of the cold mushroom poke bowl. That's just my taste though, as my fiance loved it. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Fantastic kombucha too! 🥰

Popped in to get a takeaway lunch last minute and it was absolutely delicious. Had “chicken” Hawaiian which was very tasty. Thoroughly recommend and had a taster of a mochi doughnut which was delicious. Gem of a place and what Shrewsbury has been missing.

Kanu Poke is literally an adventure for your tastebuds. Vegan, gluten free, nut free, what more could you ask for ?! Firstly the restaurant decor is amazing, it really feels like you’re halfway across the world. The food is to die for, super flavoured, tasty, and an exploration of new favours you’ve probably never had before ! My favourite thing was the bubble waffle and miso caramel syrup, such a treat. The staff are super friendly and nothing is too much for them. Thanks guys I can’t wait to come back

AMAZING!! One of the best meals I've ever had. Restaurant is vegan and gluten free which is a rare find and the food was out of this world, every bite was so tasty. What a find this place is in the heart of my home town, Shrewsbury! The koftas were delicious & the menu is just fabulous. Everything Vegan all in one place! As well as eating in we also ordered Poke bowls & Haupia for a retreat day. Delicious too! Really friendly & helpful staff committed to plant based eating. Well done guys. We had an amazing lunch here when we visited Shrewsbury. Complementary beef jerky and water was a good start. Food, service are amazing. I had the one of the Poke bowls and it was one of the best vegan food I've ever eaten. Lovely paintings on the walls.

Wow what an amazing restaurant, from the moment we walked in, made us feel welcome 🤗 . The decor is bright and eye catching, the food omg, the flavours and thought that has gone in to making the dishes it masterpiece, honestly the food is incredible, we are not vegan but my daughter has wheat, soya and milk allergies (severe) are friends told us about this place, I have to say I’m blown away by the love that has gone in to the dishes, the staff are so friendly, and happy to talk, we even sampled the homemade icecream, absolutely beautiful, we cannot wait to return again,. Thankuou for making my little girl feel special, we wil absolutely be back soon.

Brilliant food! I had a small plate and the Ipu Hulu Hulu and both were fantastic. Very tasty and well seasoned, great portion sizes and very friendly and attentive staff. Its a really cool place with dishes that look and taste amazing and the vibes are great. I will definitely be coming again as there is lots on the menu that I want to try!

Incredible service from really friendly, happy, and helpful staff. The food was excellent, with amazing food made by people that are clearly passionate about what they do. I brought some friends/ colleagues here for lunch a little while ago and it was so delicious. The flavours are pretty unique and although I have tried to replicate their meals at home, I can't do it justice. I am a little obsessed with their BBQ Pipikaula. We have also brought our kids here and they love making up their own rice bowls with beans, mango, salad bits etc. The decorations are amazing too- a very nice vibe!

We came for lunch and ordered a poke bowl and the chicken and waffle dishes. The flavours were phenomenal and the chefs passion can be seen clearly through his food. The owner and chef as well as the staff were very friendly and there was beautiful, colourful interior decoration in the restaurant. This place is truly unique and wether you are vegan or not I would highly recommend eating at this restaurant.

This was my second visit to Kanu Poke after a brilliant meal first time round. The meal was delicious, the service impeccable and what a lovely, friendly atmosphere. I can't recommend this great little establishment enough.

Top place. The owner and chef is a culinary genius and his food is the best I have ever tasted in my 56 years. There is just an explosion of flavour in every dish and the presentation and portion size make it great value to. This place is now our go to place for a meal and we visit regularly, despite living over an hour away. Big love to them all, the serving team too as they are all amazing individuals who ensure you have a 5 star experience!

I would rate Kanu 5 for its very unique and tasty menu, its great and diverse bottled drinks, cocktails, cost and friendly service. my guests are vegan and loved everything and myself and partner eat anything but adore your food, because it is so full of great flavour and texture. But i would only nock it down 1 point on one thing alone, which is relatively simple to resolve. Better air circulation and possibly air conditioning could really help especially upstairs and make the full experience brilliant. I have been in the spring and summer and we preferred downstairs as it was a bit too hot upstairs and in winter, it is warm upstairs but you do get heat and moisture from the kitchen that steams up your glasses when you enter. Maybe i am being a bit picky, but this place is a real gem 💎 so i prefer to wish to help and be honest with them so that they are even more successful going forward.

This is a superb place to have a meal out. The staff are friendly and polite with nothing being too much trouble for them. We were made to feel welcome the moment we stepped inside and the atmosphere so relaxing. There was plenty of choice on the menu and, being married to a gluten free non meat eater , you can’t always say that! Help was at hand too in case you weren’t sure of anything.

Wow! Had dinner at Kanu Poke last night, I'd been wanting to try it for a while as reviews, photos and menu looked really interesting. I was definitely not disappointed, the decor, the staff, the atmosphere and of course the food were all absolutely spot on. Neither my GF or I are vegan or vegetarian but we like trying different foods. We ordered some of tapas dishes and a Poke bowl to share. All were fantastic. We also had a mocktail each which were also great. We were completely stuffed but when the waiter talked us through the homemade ice cream flavours we had to try them and oh my days they blew our minds. The flavours were so good, like nothing you have tasted before. I'm quite lucky about restaurants and food, I find a lot of places try hard and get it wrong or often food is pretty on the plate but massively lacking in flavour. There's a lot of restaurants in Shrewsbury offering streak, pizza, pasta, chicken etc. So e do it well, plenty do it very average. Kanu Poke is doing something completely different, something really interesting and exciting. Not only is the food beautifully bright, colourful and enjoyable but the restaurant itself is the same. The wall paintings, the hanging plants and even the music is all exciting and well matched to the innovative menu. Trust me, you need to try this place.

If you want deliciously tasty Vegan food in a colourful backdrop within the beautifully scenic town of Shrewsbury in Shropshire then you won't be disappointed. The level of detail these guys put into this place is OBSCENE! Let's start with the food... I was fortunate to meet the owner and I pressed him on all points that I think let down a restaurant, every single answer was pleasing indeed. Seed oils... you can forget it. Processed ingredients... no way. In my mind, there's no real justification here for promoting gluten-free to non-celiacs IBS suffers (because the food has been carefully considered) - just insert forks (or spoons) and insert the yummy goodness into your mouth hole (your tum tum will thank you). But anyway, clarify I don't think there's any gluten in the building. So possibly one of the few restaurants in the UK that can say they are suitable for Celiacs based on the PPM test. The décor... there's plenty of bland restaurants, THIS IS NOT! Bold, colourful and full of the same character that comes with the super friendly team you're going to meet, and the plates of Pacific fusion that you're going to eat. What a treat!

One of the best new funkiest places about. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and relaxed. Staff were happy to make conversation with me while I waited for some friends. I don't eat much vegan food but this was honestly one of the best meals I've had out in a long time. Tasty, fresh, different, and cheap considering how much was on the plate. I can't remember the person's name who served me but they even asked for my opinion on something new they were trying on one of the dishes they served me which I found quite cool. I was already sold on vegan food but any vegan sceptic should visit here.

Went on a Sunday for late lunch. Was EXCELLENT. My wife has a severe nut and peanut allergy so to be able to go somewhere and order anything was great. But as great was the food, which was so tasty and so beautifully presented. Service was really good too. Only thing I'd note is that it was chilly in the restaurant, but that's just an observation not a criticism. 100% recommended. Excellent. We will deffo be going back!!!!
