Kaimin's Kitchen (Taishan) in Bristol, City of

Heard a lot of good things about this place online and decided to check it out on Thursday night. We ordered two dishes and both came in very decent portions. While the flavors were a bit different from what I’m used to, both dishes were flavorful, rich in flavor, and went well with steamed rice.

Ordered food online for collection, and there must have been an issue with their ordering software (looks like its been coded by a 5 year old) Showed up and they tried serving me 2 pots of curry sauce, 1 pot of mushy peas with no chips 😅 Regardless of where the mistake lies, I would have presumed they would have at least tried resolving the situation. A free small portion of chips or charging me an extra couple of quid would have been fine, instead they out right refused to do anything and expected me to happily go on my way with 3 pots of sauce and no food. The funny thing is what i ordered actually matched same price for what I wanted anyway. They could have easily put the sauce back into the main pot and gave me some chips. Emailed them asking for a refund, haven’t even dignified me with a reply. Its a shame as ive heard good things about their chinese food, however this is hands down the worst level of customer service I have experienced in my entire life.

They might be good for Chinese food but the chips are old and dry.

This place offers a wide variety of traditional Chinese spicy dishes, which are absolutely delicious for those who love spicy food. Every dish here is reasonably priced and affordable, with amazing flavors. The staff are very friendly and warm, and we especially love the caramelized sweet potatoes the owner gives us each time—it’s incredibly tasty! This will definitely be our go-to spot for meals in the future.

Food is absolutely delicious. The shop is operated by a lovely couple from Shandong 山東. They have both a Chinese menu plus a localised menu.

In my seventh year of living in London, I have been to many restaurants, large and small, and this is the only one where I can drive 3 hours for delicious food. It is recommended that everyone passing by here when you have time must come and take a look.

Brilliant! For traditional food from North China, it's amazing - one of the best in Bristol. They serve westernised-Chinese food too, but their traditional grub is better, and it's light. Recommended!

Ordered takeaway online and paid on the card. It's collection only. If you pay at the shop it's cash only. Nice food but we did think the 'large ' chips was quite small.

Advantages of the restaurant: The portions of the dishes are large. If you are Chinese, you can also get a Chinese menu, which is different from the English menu and more suitable for Chinese tastes. Disadvantages: The store is very small, so if you dine in, there may not be room for you to cook it. Cash only, and there are no discounts for paying in cash. The restaurant is out of the way, in the suburbs. The name of this store is Shandong Renjia, but the English name is different from the Chinese name. It took me a long time to find it. The portions of this restaurant are much larger than those at Duoduomian and Chongqing Restaurant in downtown Bristol. It may be because it is in the suburbs so the rent is cheaper. For the same price, the plates are much larger than in the city. We ordered Guobao Pork, Spicy Chicken, Dumplings, XO Sauce Fried Noodles and Large Intestine. The Guobao Pork is sweet and sour, which I think is delicious because I like sweet food, but my classmates in the north said it is not that sweet. Spicy chicken is completely different from Chongqing Sichuan spicy chicken. It is not stir-fried in a dry pan, but has sauce and tastes good. XO sauce fried noodles are obviously not Shandong cuisine, but they are delicious! It feels like a domestic roadside stall, and it's spicy. It's the spiciest dish on the table. The large intestine is relatively average, and I don't think it tastes bad, but it's just average. It has a softer texture and needs to be eaten with sauce. The shredded sweet potatoes are really delicious, so delicious, so delicious, so delicious.

Still Good value and very good selection

Picked up a takeaway from seeing the excellent reviews. Disappointed at the service. Thai red curry and thai chicken noodles certainly did not taste at all authentic, the noodles were very sour, overly salty and rather tasteless. There was an evident language barrier with the person taking my order, which meant my specific allergy requirements were not understood and followed.

Disappointed with the prices. They advertise what turned out to be a lunch price for certain dishes and then charged nearly £10 for the same dish in the autumn. Very expensive. Will not be going there again as a result. That said, the food was okay, but wasn't really tasty, which was also disappointing

Quite good chef, like a old father for each family. He gave everyone nice services. No doubt we experienced a home-tasty food here.

We've been having takeaways from Taishan every Friday for a good four years now and order their amazing dumplings as a starter. Their food is not the cheapest, but is definitely the tastiest and the best we've tasted anywhere. During lockdown when the takeway was closed it inspired my husband to have a go at making Chinese food and recently he even had a go at the dumplings with not too bad a result, though nothing on Taishan's scale. Three weeks out of four he'll have a good go; the rest of the month it's off to Taishan for a real Chinese experience! Just hoping that after recent events Taishan's business comes out better and stronger. So sorry to hear what happened yesterday and glad that he, his family and staff are all safe. x

Been there 2 times now and I will never ever again take food from a different place than this! Their food is simply amazing. The chef and the lady in front even thought they dont speak perfect English are friendly and very nice. Pork with cashews in honey and pepper sauce is the best! And a side of dumpling! You will love the place remember me!

We travel from south Bristol all the way to Frenchay for this chinese and always have beef and cashew nuts. This place is amazing and the chef is very tallented and cares about what his food is like. Not your average chinese its thr best!
