Just returned from a wonderful meal at the Kababish. The food and service were faultless and we loved the ambience of the restaurant. It has been a long time since we ate here as we have lived in Norfolk for several years and we wondered if the standards were still high, we needn't have worried everything was perfect. I would recommend the Chicken Shashlik and Kebabish Kebabs for starters and thee Mixed. Balti and Chicken Korai for mains, but I am confident that whatever you order will be delicious. Can't wait to return, many thanks to all at the Kebabish!

The food in this restaurant is amazing. The ambience is perfect for a relaxing Saturday evening meal with family, friends or partners. The staff are very attentive without being imposing. The wine and cocktails are also fabulous. When I need a special evening out this is my restaurant of choice without breaking the bank. I had the seafood Lazeez for my main and it has got to be the curry I have had to date! And living in Brum all my life I have had many!! I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be certainly going back soon.

Not sure how there’s so many good reviews, food was extremely basic. Very watery consistency to the gravy, no caramelisation, small meat as if it was thigh meat. Was quite taken back by the quality actually as the last time I came this place was fantastic but it was 5 years ago. Very very basic curry guys. Service was rushed also.

This was hands down the best curry I've ever had . Took my dad and aunt , who are 70 years old , and my partner 32 , the service from start to finish was impeccable. The food was fresh and authentic , so tasty . Staff were fab ! Friendly , knowledgeable and very attentive at all times , they even surprised my dad for his birthday with free pudding and candle. We have had curries all over Birmingham and surrounding areas and this was ...by far the best . Will definitely return !! 5 star 🌟

I'm going to go a little against the grain of the recent glowing reviews. Kababish has always been regarded as a good place to get a decent curry in the local area no doubt. But for me the overall experience when I visited last Saturday evening was that of disappointment unfortunately. The meal itself [Dopiaza] was pretty tasty but what I didn't like was how the meat [chicken] had been prepared. To me it was like how you would make a curry with left over roast chicken, all shredded and pulled into stringy pieces. It's fine at home but when your going out and actually paying for a meal, you expect a little better. Maybe it's not how they serve the chicken in other dishes on the menu, I'm not sure but to me, it just shouldn't be served like that full stop. Also what I didn't find particularly great either was the service. There wasn't anything majorly wrong with it but equally they didn't go out of their way to make sure everything was OK, in fact we weren't asked at any point during the meal if we were happy with our food, the only time we were asked was when we were paying the bill. I didn't feel there was much friendliness or warmth with it either. It's not enough to stop me making a return trip but equally nothing about it makes me feel like rushing back. You can get as equally a good curry locally in many other restaurants.

I have hardly ever had a complaint about the food here. Mostly I order takeaways but sometimes eat in the restaurant. The owners are very friendly and contribute to local charities. I is usually very busy at the weekends and booking is required then. The only minor niggle I have had is with takeaways ordered on a Monday night, which I am guessing is chef's night off.

The chicken curry was ok, plenty of it but not quite up to the proper standard in my opinion - the Moseley kebabish is better. My tandoori roti was fine and the poppadom dips were very good. I always have it in my head as being a bit over priced here, but this time it seemed very reasonable to pay just over £30 for a couple of shared curries plus a few sides, starters and drinks. Been here a few times - both as part of a group and as a couple - and every time the food has been superb and the staff super attentive and efficient. Great clean and modern environment with subtle music and lighting and excellent menu choice. Food service is quick and efficient without feeling rushed and the quality of food and taste is genuinely superb. I am sometimes a bit cautious of places that combine a restaurant with a take away service - where you can be enjoying your meal and the door keeps opening with a steady flow of people coming in and out and watching you eat while they wait for their takeaway - as this (in my opinion) takes away some of the intimacy of the restaurant and makes it more like a fast food joint. Thankfully at Kababish the takeaway side is handled discreetly out of the way and you are left to enjoy your meal largely uninterrupted. Positives for the place include the superb quality and choice of food available and excellent service - which coupled with the great value for money make this an enjoyable evening out for anyone who appreciates a good Indian restaurant.Negatives? Well parking can be a bit of an issue when it gets busy and I would recommend booking in advance for the Friday and Saturday evening slots - but these are minor.Highly recommended!

I live local to this restaurant and many people have mentioned how good it is so I tried it one Saturday night. Now there are another 6 indian restaurants within 200 yards of this one and they are all better both cheaper and quality of food. The food in this one reminded me of the curry you buy in a jar and add to meat no flavour but full of bright vegetables. It might have been a one off I hear you say so I tried it again some months later and sampled a different dish with the same result something you would make at home for the children from a jar.If you are in Boldmere try one the other 6 restaurants they are all very good.

This is the first time I've been to this restaurant since the late 90's-early 2000's when I used to live in Birmingham, and I remember back in those days that the food was extremely tasty. Happy to report that, if anything, the food tastes even better! Come down to celebrate friends 25th wedding anniversary and this is where we used to come to eat so we had to return to reminisce. There was a party of 10 of us, the staff were extremely helpful & attended to us throughout the night. Was served our drinks firstly & popadoms & chutney tray, which was delicious. My wife & I shared the onion bhaji & samosa which were exquisitely spiced right & not greasy. For mains my wife had the chicken tikka masala with a portion of chips & a garlic naan, & I had the Borti se Saag, which is Tandoored lamb pieces, fresh spinach & goats cheese gently simmered together with freshly grounded herbs and spices and a drizzle of cream, with pilau rice. I must say it tasted really good, just a shame I couldn't finish it off. The rest of the party had various other dishes & they all commented on how good it tasted. One member of our party has a nut allergy & the staff went out of their way to ensure that her food was prepared free of nuts. They also told us they can cater for other allergies, such as gluten free. None of the food was swimming in any grease or ghee which is great for those dieting. The restaurant is very clean, and as mentioned before the staff are very attentive, making sure you're served with drinks & making sure everything is ok. The atmosphere & ambience is also spot on. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone who's in the area, and I know when I'm next back down in Birmingham & I'm craving a curry this will be the place I'll be visiting. It really is that good, can't fault it!

With both daughters and their families on holiday, I decided to take my wife to a long established, local Indian restaurant for Sunday dinner. Boldmere is blessed with a large number and variety of eateries, many of which offer pleasurable dining experiences, and so any establishment that is still prospering after 25 years must be doing something right. We have always enjoyed meals here, but we haven't been for quite some time, because Kababish is licensed and so does not always represent such good value as some of its rivals. No such worries this time, as our Gourmet Society card gave us 25% off the total bill. There is a Sunday lunch offer up to 5.30pm, but we opted for the normal menu. The poppadoms set the tone for the meal: fresh and hot, and the sauces were subtly tasty. The starters exhibited the same qualities; my stuffed mushrooms coated with mozzarella were delicious. Our mains were equally satisfying, and were sufficiently filling to justify our decision to share a single mushroom pilau rice as our sole side dish. What is more, I did not feel the need for a dessert, although I must say that I'd have enjoyed my wife's pistachio kulfi, which is saying something, because I don't like pistachios! I contented myself with a coffee, which brought the only disappointment - not the drink itself, but the fact that it came with a desultory plastic tub of "cream" nestling in the saucer. That was a totally uncharacteristic cheap shot, which was as surprising as it was irrelevant to the overall experience. The staff were courteous and attentive, with the waitress being particularly sociable, whilst our choice of wine, a Rumanian Pinot Noir, was flavoursome, but was struggling to cope with food as the meal progressed. The discounted bill came in at well under £40, which only added to our feeling of wellbeing as we stepped into the evening sunshine.

Having moved to Sutton Coldfield in 1999, and being a fan of Asian food, I tried a number of indian restaurants and happended upon the Kababish in early 2000. I can honestly say having eaten in most if not all of the asian restaurants on offer in Sutton Coldfield and surrounding areas, The Kababish is my favourite bar none! I have been going here for over 14 years now and if I am given the choice where to go to celebrate a birthday or something special, if Indian food is the choice, the Kababish is the next easy decision.I like the Kababish so much because its a fabulous all rounder. Sometimes you get a great restaurant, but the service is poor and its expensive. Or the service is great, its expensive but the food just isnt up to it! At the Kababish the food is excellent, the service is a bit like a Carlsberg advert, you know "If Carlsberg did Indian Restaurant Service", well it would definately be based on The Kababish and the prices are reasonable to! Sid, T and the team up there do a great job of creating a nice ambience and atmoshphere, always take time to greet you and have a chat at the table, to make you feel really welcome! And I dont mean an akward "everything alright with your meal", I mean a genuine how is everthing, how are you, hows the family!!! And nothing is ever too much trouble whether its something a bit different or advice on the wine! I have to admit, I was stunned to see the Kababish only has 69 Tripadvisor reviews, but then having thought about it, and eaten there again this evening with my wife, two young children and inlaws, they just dont push it! There arent stickers, or requests or none of that, so I guess that is why? However, if they did push or request, such is the high number of regular customers who have been going here for between 5 and 25+ years, they could probably push top 10 in Birmingham without even breaking a sweat. We have introduced many people to the Kababish and they have become friends of the restaurant and go back regularly. So, dont be put off by the lack of reviews, certainly dont be put of by the couple of negative unbelievable reviews, if you want quality food with top, top service, get yourself here to the Kababish....you wont be dissapointed!!

It's important to say upfront that the service was very polite and friendly. In no way do I blame the waiting staff for our experience. Sadly they were far too stretched to be able to deliver a decent service - and that can only be down to the owners and/or management. We booked a table for 9pm. We were told on arrival that our table would be a few minutes. There was nowhere to sit as others were already sat in the waiting area so we sat at the bar. It was cluttered with dirty glasses and was the hub for waiters taking payment and drinks orders so although there were bar stools for customers we instantly felt in the way. After 5 minutes or so someone took our drinks orders and apologised for the mess of the bar. But it was 45 minutes before we were finally seated at our table. Another long wait for further drinks and to order food. The food was good. Very tasty and nicely cooked. It arrived very quickly compared to everything else. We had to ask for the bill twice. And noticed on the menu a statement saying that service is not included but staff rely on gratuities left by diners. I felt bad not leaving a tip but honestly didn't feel it was warranted. In truth the owners should feel ashamed of this statement. Pay staff properly for the job they do, and ensure you have staffed adequately to enable people to do their jobs properly. People will then happily leave a tip for good service. But shouldn't feel guilt-tripped into supplementing your poor pay policies. A really disappointing experience.

We visit here quite often and whether we eat in or have a rake out it's always lovely. If you eat in the service is great. The options can be small or it could be me being greedy !

Well we were recommended by a family member so decided to chance our arm late on a Saturday night, we did book but luckily the restaurant wasn't overly busy The staff upon arrival were friendly and very attentive, quickly set us up with condiments and poppadoms and the sauces were the best we have ever had, I chose a lamb dish my hubby a chicken and both were served hot and quick. They were gorgeous so glad we decided to stop at kebabish we will be returning ! Many thanks to the staff forsaking our meal so enjoyable.

This is a converted corner house, which was a bank at one time. It is nice inside. The menu is focused on Balti style, which can be customized to your taste with heat level and additional spices (added cost). The food was very tasty, especially the Peshwari rice, which complimented the Balti style. Beer range included Cobra along with Tetley's Smoothflow and Carlsberg. The wine list was quite varied, but the Shiraz we chose is probably one to avoid. This is a nice venue, with very good food. There must be thousands of options for Indian food in the area, and, although, this was a bit pricey, it is probably a very safe bet.

As always the staff were very attentive and helpful - except the little mishap knocking a full glass of cobra over me - but no real harm done! Food was excellent. Although it was a Saturday night and full there was no pressure on us to vacate the table. A very enjoyable night

I took my daughter here for a birthday celebration meal. Rude staff. 'Nouvelle cuisine' size portions and a bill that was overpriced made sure I was never going to return. This is allegedly Robbie Williams' favourite restaurant. Perhaps they reserve their best fr him and his mates. If they din't then I suggest he gets himself down to the Indus or even the Balti triangle for some decent service and food.

Having lived in London for many years, I was excited to see Kababish in Sutton. Its my own fault as Kababish is not Kebabish. Yes I know its my fault! I was never any good at spelling.(Kebabish is a chain of charcoal grill restaurants and this is an unrelated more upmarket restaurant that has a similar name)That being said, decor was good. atmosphere good. service nice.Food: very generic. Personally I found it more of a British style of curry which was too basic and bland. A nice place to eat but infortunately food was no way special enough for me to return

I met a friend here for dinner as centrally located between us. It's always had a good reputation and I've eaten here a few times over the years but not recently. This was however the worst curry I'd had in a very long time. The popadoms were stale, tikka tasteless. Even the coffee afterwards came with UHT Coffee Complement. It must have changed hands who knows when but we won't be returning. From seeing the other favourable reviews I wonder if we were at the same place but yes we were.

I have never wrote a review before, but as a regular customer to this restaurant I felt it is required for the management to see.I visit the restaurant generally once a month and love the service you receive, the food and atmosphere. The prices are a bit more expensive than the nearby Indian restaurants but you get what you pay for...The reason I am writing this review is regarding a 'new' waiter who has been working there approx. 3 months from memory. Baring in mind he had not served my table at all for the night, he brought over the card machine for payment once I had requested the bill. Once I had paid he gave the card back to myself and made the comment 'Well, that's paid the gaffers wages, now dont forget about us' - As a regular tipper to the staff at the restaurant, I felt this was particularly rude and did not suit the nature of the restaurant at all. I am sure that the management here appreciate who this member of staff is and will make sure rude comment like this are refrained.

Love the food here although the menu has been the same for years. Sunday banquet is excellent value for money and they will keep bringing the food. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially filling up on the drinks which are expensive can double the price of the evening.

My wife and I have had a take away from here pretty much every week for the last 20 years along with occasional birthday celebrations eating in, and prior to that the Kababish in Moseley for 5 years. Excellent food, has only disappointed twice in 20 years. Dishes slightly on the small size. Average price. Fantastic tasting food, healthy with minimal oil. Excellent service. My only gripe at all is that they never ever vary the menu - ever! Come on guys try a guest dish every month or even a slight revamp of the menu - maybe we've just used it too often? Occasionally we try other curry houses or eateries in Sutton for a change and really like the Kyrenia grill on Boldmere but always delight when we finally get back to a Kababish curry.

On Wednesday during July and August Kababish charged 1980's prices for your meal (50% less) and you make a voluntary donation to the three charities the restaurant supports. The food here is always excellent, and the staff extremely efficient as well as friendly, it can get quite noisy when full, but always a good atmosphere.

I love going to the Kababish and have eaten there for over fifteen years but the last visit was disappointing. I ordered a veggie balti and it arrived with chicken in it as well as the mushrooms and chana I had ordered - even though the order was explained and repeated several times to be clear. After the food was sent back to be replaced the people at the next table sent their food back Don't know why this was such an off night but overall the meal when it arrived again was very average.Local friends of mine have recently been disappointed there too and since it's the most pricey of the local restaurants in Boldmere I can't say I will stay loyal to the Kababish unless things pick up in future. There are lots of other local restaurants keen to have the business.

I have tried most of the curry restaurants in Boldmere, but this is really in the next league. Yes you do have to buy the wine there which obviously increases the price, but it was really a sumptious meal, the Peshwari Pilau being absolutely delicious and the desert of Ras malai was a perfect way to end the meal. I will definately be going back

I've been lucky enough to visit kababish a number of times now and I always went with some friends to let them know about this new little hidden Birmingham gem. Dinner at kababish sutton has always been a joy but our last visit proves that even the best can get better. Arrived at restaurant and was greeted by happy and welcoming staff. Small but superb choice of indian and pakistani style food prepared. Most main dishes come with a side order and the portions are such that we had more than enough sharing. DESI KARAHI MURGH AND ACHARI CHICKEN are the tastiest dishes. The service was fantastic and was rewarded with a healthy and deserved tip.

We booked a table at 20.00 for 5 people and turned up at 20.00 with 6 people but we were told that 6 people was no problem and that they would seat us in a few minutes. At 8.15 when we asked where our table was we were told that we would have to wait and that 'you obviously don't come here often and don't know how it is'. I thought a table at 20.00 meant a table at 20.00?We were seated at 20.35 and still being disgruntled we were told that the problem was that we had turned up with 6 people. However, it was clear that a) a table for 5 was the same size as a table for 6 and b) the actual problem was that the people on our table were taking longer to finish their meal than the staff expected. We did not receive one apology, and the arrogance was quite bewildering, almost as if we should have been grateful to even get a table. After we were seated and still received no apology we left and went to Simlas across the Boldmere Road, which was fantastic. Obviously I can't comment on the food, and I never will be able to as I won't be going back.

Great restaurant that just gets better, the food is excellent, the Dupiaza with chicken tikka is superb, an the garlic fried rice is great, the starters are a mixture of sublime taste with a hint of spicy warmth, the poppadoms are fresh and warm, but the garlic nan drips with garlic butter and even though everything is cooked fresh there is very little waiting. If your lucky Robbie Williams could be tucking into a Balti or an Aston Villa player eating Chicken Tikka, they all get in there! But nevertheless us lesser mortals can also book a table, which is a must! Be aware it's not cheap unless you do the taster menu of a Sunday, but well worth an occasional visit to sample quite superb cuisine

Slightly up market for curry houses in the area and there are loads of them! The restaurant is clean and well presented. The menu has a wide variety of interesting starters and a comprehensive selection of main courses. The food was well presented and full of interesting flavours. They had a decent selection of beers and wine. The service was good and unlike other reviews we didn't feel rushed or under pressure to finish and go.

This was my brother's recommendation for a family meal of six people. We were seated at a round table, which always helps communication, and the staff were really friendly and helpful, offering menu advice too.It was a bit noisy as it was packed and we had to wait to be seated. But better that than rattling around in an empty room and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The popadoms were fresh and not greasy. Those who had starters only complained about being too full afterwards. The main courses all arrived well presented - in either metal bowls on wooden boards or in large bowls, with a good sprinkle of coriander. I had a creamy sweet potato dish with salad and raita, which was fantastic. Others had chicken, lamb and mince, with no complaints at all. My husband is a keen curry fan - me less so - and he agreed this is definitely a five star venue, based on our experience. We paid about £25 a head, including drinks.

We went for a nice quiet Sunday tea. We were seated quite quickly and orders taken efficiently. The food was ok my korma was extremely mild bordering on tasteless. However the other main was very good. The keema naan was a bit lacking of meat in places...however the service was good even though there was a huge party table. There were kids running around and their parents just let them not thinking of anyone else in the restaurant, however when we paid the bill we were apologised to about the noise and the children so at least it was acknowledged. I would go back...but wouldn't necessarily "choose" there as a favourite place to go.

This was always my favourite restaurant in the area. Different and tasty food - bit expensive but worth it. Don't know what's happened but service is now very poor and the food is completely tasteless. The first time I ate at the Kababish with one of my friends we felt rushed and were not even offered a desert. The bill was just bought out and when I asked to see the desert menu the waiter looked unhappy, it was not a nice experience and I felt the staff were bordering on rude with their attitudes. Anyway as a result I did not go back for a good few months.Last night my friend and I decided we would give it another chance as we have tried all the other restaurants in the area and figured that every time we drive past this restaurant it looks busy so it can't be that bad and maybe we just happened to visit on a bad night last time.I was happy that the staff seemed (a little) nicer from my previous visit and the lady that served us was nice and polite.I would class myself as a bit of a curry tasting expert as I have been eating Indian food for over 25 years. My curry was of an OK standard but was bordering on poor, the rice was very bad and over cooked and the meal as a whole was expensive and lacking in taste (I think it is a skill in itself to be able to make a bland Vindaloo!). I do not understand why this restaurant always seems so busy when there is so many Indian restaurants in the area some under a minutes walk away and in my opinion they are much better quality food. Our meal cost over £32 for4 popadoms2 main courses2 roti breads1 rice1 beer & 1 LemonadeOverall I feel this is an over priced restaurant bland tasting mediocre quality food and if I am entirely honest one of the worst tasting curries I have had in a long time. I do not mind paying the extra if the food quality is better but in this case it wasn't and in my opinion this is one of the worst if not the worst Indian restaurants in the area and I do not see why people think its so great and as for harking on about Celebrities visiting what do they know about good quality indian food! I would urge anyone who thinks this is good indian food to try the other restaurants in the area!I will not be going to the Kababish again.

So Myself and a friend turned up here on a Sunday at 8. The restraunt was completely empty except for about 6 staff. Had eaten here once before and it was ok. Initial waiter was ok sat us down and took our order. After I was told they didn't do Chicken madras and I had to have what was on the menu. Funny I had it last time. Went straight for mains and had one beer each. Food came and it was ok. Finished beers and ordered another to be told " you'll have to make it your last as the bar is closing. This was aprox 8.50 pm. Beer came as did the bill no offer of desert menu. Staff then stood glaring at us with coats on whilst others whent around turning the lights off. Then what I think was the manager came over and said " I'm not being funny guys but we closed 25 minutes ago. Appalling embarassing experience. A courteous "just to let you know guys we close at 9" on our arrival would have sufficed. Wouldn't have been so bad but cost 40 odd quid. Will never go back here.

A restaurant that is stylish, different and dedicated to providing the very best service/food. If you were unhappy with your choice tell the staff, if the chef can please you, HE WILL. This restaurant and the sister restaurant in Moseley are family owned and frequented by celeb's who know and appreciate good food. The price will not kill you but it's not a curry house. Take advice on the menue, the waiter will know his stuff... Love it.

He probado muchos restaurantes indios en el área de Southfield de Northfield, pero desde mi reciente visita al restaurante Jafrany se ha convertido en una de mis casas de curry favoritas.
