Junkyard Dogs in Brighton and Hove

Easily my favourite bar ever. JYD is a diamond in the rough. Exuding effortless cool they host stunning music, performance, serve great food and have an amazingly friendly, cosy environment. There is always something amazing happening there, be it art exhibitions, crazy game nights, comedy, music, spoken word and so much more. The staff are knowledgable, helpful and superbly cool. Reminds me of a time before corporate consistency and money ruined all character and charm. The coolest place to meet or chill at any time of day.

Mint cafe with good food and lovely cat art all around indoors. Bitter coffee served in Americano. Breakfast with quality ingredients.

Had a wonderful meal on Monday 16 April 2018. Went as a family. Daughter had to visit eye hospital. Husband had a fantastic hot dog. Said was best he has had. Nothing was to much for the staff. I asked for something off menu. No bother at all. Nice clean cozy room. This was our 2nd visit. Will definitely be going a 3rd time.

Group of us had a very enjoyable lunch here last weekend. We all agreed the food hit the spot, really good value. Great Vibe, comfortable seats, good music. We stayed on way longer than we'd planned, for drinks into the evening! Fantastic hosts, thank you!

This is a lovely little cafe with a very 'Brighton' arty bohemian vibe. It's not fancy, more like visiting a friend's house. The food I've tried was nothing special, but the friendly staff make up for that!

I recently went to an event at this tiny theatre-café on Edward Street. It has a lovely vibe, with incredibly friendly and interesting staff. The food was limited but pretty good and they make a fantastic cuppa. I cant wait to go back and sample a performance there. Well worth a visit.

This cafe, bar & theatre is a fantastic little venue with an array of creative events going on. I have experienced crafternoons, comedy nights, open mic's and exhibition openings. Independently run (which is slowly, becoming harder and harder these days) it has a wonderful relaxed vibe, great coffee and lush home-made cakes. The Vegan hotdog is literally THE BEST!!! This is a MUST SEE

Had a night with a group of friends and had some food. Everything was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. Shame we had to move on!

Hosted my 40th birthday party, providing amazing buffet food and decorated with bunting etc so the venue looked great for our arrival...(not so great at our departure 😬sorry girls! 😂) Excellent communication and really accommodating so I could relax and have a lovely evening.. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Sincere thanks xx

Cosy front-room feel, beautiful coffee and delicious menu of full-English breakfast, bacon sandwiches and range of hot dogs ! It also has a bar and cute little garden out the back, which has colourful furniture and bunting. The staff are really friendly, definitely going to visit again :)

I've been to a few boozey nights at this atmospheric bar with a little Theatre and garden.What a great place to spend an evening or have a delicious post drinking breakfast .They host all sorts of fun and interesting nights open mikes ,stand up and they even have a small cinema .The ever changing Art exhibited on the walls keeps the decor new and exciting and I just love their enthusiasm for what they are doing .Im looking forward to my next visit already.

I have been to Junkyard dogs a few times now and always have a fab time. The two ladies that run the cafe greet you with a lovely smile and are happy to hear you out if you have any creative ideas. The walls are beautifully decorated with art work from local artists, which change monthly, with each exhibit adding a new touch to the decor . The bar/cafe offer a variety of in house entertainment - live music, comedy, life drawing, cinema to name a few and they have recently completed works to a black box style studio theatre at the back of the cafe, where I am looking forward to seeing some productions later on in the year. I am vegan so was pleased to see they had a vegan dog on the menu, which was big and tasty, with nice chutney and came with chips, it was very filling and great because I was craving a bit of naughty food! I would totally recommend dropping into this place, there is usually something happening and when there is not, it's a nice space for a drink and a chill out, Well done ladies for creating such a vibrant space.

Really lovely little place - Perfect for a drink after work with live music and a Hot Dog! The owners are incredibly friendly.

I have been visiting Junkyard now for a few months, its the perfect place for breakfast or lunch (or both) the food is always great and its a great spot to do some work quietly too as they have a fab little garden at the back which is a real suntrap. They now have a newly refurbished theatre with regular events from comedy and music to film nights and more. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. I couldn't recommend more.

I ordered the Dog Father which was just delicious! The coffee was pretty amazing too. I love the ambience and the art on the walls. I've heard about the theatre/cinema and can't wait to visit that too.

I have been to this up and coming cafe / bar / venue several times now. The staff are very friendly, the food is delicious, the drinks are great and the entertainment is always good. This place is well worth a couple of hours of anyone's time!

We visited Junkyard Dogs recently on a day trip to Brighton, lovely cafe/bar with freshly cooked food, good coffee and very friendly owners.

Popped into this bar on a Saturday night for a few drinks and a bite to eat. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The bar is small and has only newly opened, so they're still developing the site but at the moment has few tables (probably around 6 or 7) and a well stocked bar considering the size. They host live music nights and hope to expand to bigger performances once they've developed an additional area of the venue.
