Llegó para el asado del domingo. El asado en sí era un poco mezquino. Pero los lados... oh Dios mío, los lados. Fueron increíbles. Los servicios eran geniales, y las mujeres que nos atendieron fue muy amable y nos dijo que la próxima vez podríamos pedir los lados. También recomendaría los cócteles, top teir.

Este lugar es una joya oculta absoluta. Gran ambiente, y cócteles, sin embargo, la comida lleva a este lugar a una buena experiencia gastronómica. El menú es engañosamente mínimo, luego llegan los platos y es un toque de genialidad culinaria. No puedo recomendar lo suficientemente alto.

Have wanted to try junk for sometime and was not disappointed. We went for the 9 course tasting menu. As each course arrived the presentation never faulted & each course tasted amazing. All staff extremely knowledgeable about ingredients & cooking methods. Can't recommend enough. First class. Compliments to the chef(s) obviously very passionate & caring.

Tenía tantas ganas de salir por la noche en la basura, pero no estuvo a la altura de su bombo. Estábamos sentados en el área del banco, frente a una pared en un asiento que tal vez encaja para un hobbit, pero no para una persona de tamaño promedio. Mi parte del área de comer del banco ascendía a unos 45 cm por 45 cm, el área suficiente para apretar un plato y un vaso. Además no tienes absolutamente ningún espacio entre otros comensales. Además, el espacio entre la zona de bancos y la barra es pequeño y dado que esto era la vía principal de los camareros para pasar entre las áreas de restaurantes hizo que una noche extremadamente incómoda se golpeó y esperando a que las bebidas o la comida se derramara por su espalda. ¿Cómo puedes justificar los precios que cobras y esperar que alguien disfrute de su experiencia y se siente durante dos horas y media en la zona de tu banco en lo que debe ser el comedor más pequeño de Edimburgo? Esto huele a codicia, meten a tanta gente y meten otras 130 libras en el banco. Una pareja se fue después de ver dónde se sentarían en el área del banco y la pareja a nuestro lado pidió que los llevaran a una mesa como nosotros. No hubo mesas disponibles hasta que terminamos nuestra comida, dos horas y media después! Pedimos el menú degustación de siete platos que era mediocre en el mejor de los casos. Nada memorable y los tamaños de las porciones eran muy pequeños y nos quedamos con hambre después de que la comida se completó. La comida salía lentamente, el personal de espera se disculpaba constantemente por los retrasos y el número de personas que esperaban en la puerta para llegar a sus mesas que todavía tenían gente comiendo en ellos. Le sugiero que trabaje con números que su equipo pueda manejar, ya que lo que he presenciado ciertamente no es una operación además de su servicio. Nunca me preguntaron en ningún momento cómo disfruté de ninguno de los platos o qué pensaba de la experiencia general. Tan decepcionante y espero que para ti una noche libre, pero para mí he marcado la casilla, he estado en tu restaurante y ciertamente no volveré.

Visité el restaurante a la hora del almuerzo y tuve el menú degustación de 7 platos. La comida era razonablemente sabrosa y algunos de los platos tenían sabores interesantes e inusuales. Algunos estaban bien, pero bastante básico. En general, la experiencia estaba bien, pero encontré que no es una buena relación calidad-precio. A £ 50 por persona para el menú degustación de 7 platos no valió la pena y no volvería a ir de nuevo. En ese rango de precios en Edimburgo, que está cerca de la oferta de almuerzo que tienen algunas estrellas Michelin, para el almuerzo se puede encontrar mucho mejor relación calidad-precio.

Visitamos para el asado del domingo y estaba delicioso! Genial tener una opción vegetariana también - gracias Basura! La comida era de gran calidad y muy sabrosa. Los cócteles eran tan buenos también! Definitivamente volveré.

The place had a lively vibe and the staff were really friendly. We ordered the 9 dish tasting menu and they accommodated the pescatarian i the group. The dishes were lovely but I. The end it was way too much food, would recommend the 7 dish tasting menu, or just pick a few small plates

A great evening heightened by excellent service. The food was superb, varied and plentiful with us struggling to finish our final plates. They produced combinations of ingredients you wouldn't dream of, but melded them into delicious portions. Three of us at dinner and nobody left a crumb. Great ambiance too, it was a Thursday night and there was a happy buzz. We'll be back!

We had the 9 course tasting menu last night and it was amazing. I'm a fussy eater and there still wasn't a single dish I didn't enjoy. Me and spicy food don't get on but even the spicy dishes weren't too hot, they felt like they were about to really kick in and destroy my tongue but they just stayed at the perfect level. I can't believe they put so many ingredients that I would never eat in their dishes and it was so good. Brilliant value and service too.

We very much enjoyed our meal here. We have too many dietary restrictions to participate in the tasting menu, but were still able to enjoy several excellent sharing plates. They also had some nice Indie whiskies that we’re glad we had the opportunity to try.

I’ve just had my food heaven! We opted for the 7 plate ‘tapas’ style menu & every course was absolutely delicious. Chinese beef tartare on a prawn cracker with kohlrabi, hash brown with a delicious seaweed topping, home-made focaccia with wild garlic butter, courgette (zucchini) with black garlic sauce & pea purée, beef rib Chinese style with peas & new potatoes in a lovely creamy sauce, a pre-dessert of chantilly cream with apple & stem ginger then a dessert of chocolate cake with pear sorbet. Coffee & petit fours also included. Margaritas were heavenly. Staff were friendly, polite & helpful. Can’t wait to go back!

We had the 7 course sharing menu. The food was very well presented, delicious flavours & the service was really attentive. Downside is it's quite pricey and if you are a big eater it's not big portions but for me it was enough. This was our desert which was titled "childhood" very nice

Myself and my partner visited for the first time pre theatre dinner We chose the £45 menu we were not disappointed every dish was full of flavour and presentation was lovely. Service was good. We will definitely be returning when it’s the new menu

We chose the 5 course tasting menu. Food was absolutely delicious, very hard to choose a favourite. Staff we very happy and polite. We will definitely be back soon!

Had this booked for quite some time and was looking forward to our visit. Website is very clunky and pretty confusing so really had no idea about the menu apart from what I’d seen on social media. Have to say that we were all pretty disappointed, food was pretty hit and miss, tongue was good but steak had a seam of hard chewy fat. Food was overpriced for what was served, looked the part but portions were small even for the current small plates trend. Been there and ticked it off the list but very unlikely to return.

Short tapas style menu with an interesting range of modern tapas spanning all corners of the world. Very tasty and we shared about 12 items between four of us and not a negative comment on the food! Staff were a bit all over the place but very pleasant. Given the breadth of spices and flavours that the dishes provide, the wine list is poorly structured and lacking choice - it has not been thought through! We got the heads up as we were ordering that the wi-fi was down(???? really) and therefore it was cash only, "but there is a cash machine just across the road" (pouring rain and freezing wind) and I was treating a client and his wife so had to draw cash from a personal acct rather than charge to the company card, all very unnecessary if only the switch wasn't turned off!! What is it with restaurants wi-fi not working only on friday and saturday nights? - this never happens in shops or pubs - strange eh!!!

Disappointed. I get the concept of small plates but these were tiny portions. Over priced for what you got even if the chef was trying to be creative with flavours. Seating arrangements (benches) were hard to get in. Glad I wasn’t the couple made to sit in corner under the coat rack though. Service was friendly but overall experience was poor value for money.

It is not an understatement to say this was the tastiest food I’ve ever had. Will be back again soon

Very nice Scottish food with small dishes like tapas. Food is very creative and delicious.Highly recommended and it’s the second time we have been. I can’t wait to back again.

Ok so . We eat out a lot . Like A LOT . My other half runs a food page on insta and so yeah it’s kinda our thing . This tonight was simply , first class . The dishes of which we had most were outstanding. The crab ball , a delight , the Mac & cheese , ridiculously good , the soup , delish , the scallop … have the scallop guys . The snow cone , yes it’s lovely ,. The place was rammed , the team were under pressure but our servers were professional and engaging throughout dinner . Probably if not actually one of the best meals in Edinburgh this year . 10/10 . Loved this. Well played to the owners . The concept is perfect.

Went for a late lunch. Really sorry to say I was disappointed with the food, value and service. One scallop £14 value isn’t great. Snow cone over spiced so ruined taste of other dishes. Food arrived at table before drinks, several wrong orders with missing booze in an espresso martini and missing coffee in a liquor coffee Then assured would not get charged for these mistakes but unfortunately when the bill came still charged for these mistakes. Not great, won’t be back!

This place gets a 5/5 review from me. I cannot give JUNK enough praise. What a fantastic wee venue. Some incredible gourmet style dishes at very affordable prices given the high quality on offer. One of the best casual dining experiences I've ever had in Edinburgh. A must try! My stand out dishes were Moo Point (beef tartare), Bombay Potatoes, On the Gyro (they sous-vide the chicken breast so it basically melts in your mouth like butter - simply spectacular) and Gumbo. Street food style cuisine turned into fine dining. What a great concept. Loved it!

Went to Junk over the weekend to have dinner and a catch up with friends. First of the food is delicious. The service however leaves a lot to be desired. Initially it started off well but then they forgot our drinks order so we ordered again. Still no drinks. When we ordered a third time drinks arrived but not quite what we ordered. Then we got asked how we wanted to pay when we hadn’t asked for the bill. We had to ask for the dessert menu and then when we did ask for the bill we had to ask a couple of times to pay. For the standard of food I would expect service to be tighter.

I cannot recommend this place enough. It is quite a small restaurant but has a real buzz about it and a great atmosphere. We were served by Beth and Shannon who were both super friendly. They were also really knowledgeable about all the tapas style dishes explaining each one as they were served and also giving drink suggestions that were spot on. The menu is really interesting - so many different flavours but somehow they all worked well together across the different dishes. We shared 6 dishes between the two of us. We had Le Macaroni au Fromage which was divine and the bacon jam was delicious. My friend wanted the lamb belly Taco but I'm not a huge fan of lamb... well it was superb! The Bombay potatoes were the best I have ever tasted anywhere in the world. The Sticky Wee Aubergine had so much flavour and was cooked perfectly. We also had the Not Mush-room and the On the Gyro chicken which were both good. This restaurant was a great find and I'll definitely be back.
