Clark's Bar in Edinburgh, City of

A large group of us dropped in on a Friday tea time. without notice and they couldn't have been more accommodating. They gave us a back room to ourselves, lit candles and offered table service for the drinks. Very much appreciated, thank you!!

Super cool vibe and amazing staff! Big shoutout to Ed and Minnie for being extra kind and welcoming. Would recommend for a casual drink or late night date spot

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! It is a great little pub. I had avoided it for year. Due to the previous management. But I ma very happy and glad to go in now. Clean, fresh, service with a smile and a great selection of whisky and ales. It is now my new favourite waterhole. The interior is lovely. They have really struck the balance between keeping the original feel if this pub that is over 100 years old. And adding some little bits and pieces to put their own twist on it. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone else. It is just a shame they can't take down the reviews from the previous management. That ran it into the ground.

Great to have the place back open. Ed, the bartender was a gent. Atmosphere was great.

Don't generally do reviews - but I like what they've done to the place. Nice vibe, good selection of beer etc, lovely staff. Cosy and cool with great Bluesy music. Only major problem was that some complete dick splash came in giving the poor staff grief that it's not what it used to be and that he'd no longer frequent the place. Also mentioning that under the previous regime - bar staff could only survive if he and his elite bunch of regulars were happy with them - all in a very loud voice. Politely he said he wouldn't be frequenting the establish any more. Sadly he reappeared 20 minutes later and ordered a pint. I left shortly after - but will be back - ideally whenever said blokes not in. Well done to the staff and well done on the refurb etc.

Been in a handful of times recently. 2 lads behind the bar just on the phones the whole time. Occasionally look up to pour a pint, then straight back to phones. Kinda ruins the atmosphere the lack of engagement

Cool pub/bar with friendly staff. Not crowded and catering to a diverse clientele. Prices are accessible and a wide selection of drinks is offered. Did not see any food or snacks on the wall menu and patrons were fetching snacks from nearby supermarket. So I do not know if food is offered (to be fair I also did not ask). Passed by to watch a football game for the Euro 2024 and will for sure return during the rest of my vacation in Edinburgh to watch a couple more games. Dog friendly.

How handsome the waiter was super nice and they have a pasta place next door and you can eat it in the tavern, they serve it there, it's great

Trip down memory lane after 35 years away. Superficially the same but the days of concentrating on providing a limited choice of beer at consistently perfect quality by local barmen for local customers has been replaced by entrepreneurs providing a choice of beers ( which didn't pour ) to a transient clientele. The walls are bare now where they used to be covered by black and white photographs of regular customers caught unawares. It was considered to be meritorious to be on those walls. I know times change and Clarks has struggled but oh....... Progress?

All the staff at Clark’s are simply wonderful. They put up with my friends and me and are always lovely. Alan in particular made my birthday drinks fabulous! All the staff, Tom, Nathan, Tess and Alan are a credit to the bar. All the locals are a curious delight every time we visit.

Best bar we went to in Edinburgh. Love Colorado, Tom (andy) and Nathan. Awesome place.

A great old fashioned no nonsense bar with excellent staff and a great pint. Saw some dodgy football on TV but what do you expect early season. Great beer a full gantry plus Negronis and Old Fashioneds on tap

Unpretentious old fashioned Edinburgh pub with friendly staff and wee side rooms that are good for groups. Shows lots of sport. The music is always great and it's a stone' throw from town

Used to go here in the 80s when the barmen wore maroon nylon jackets. They don't wear the uniform anymore, but there's still a traditional feel in this classic Edinburgh institution.

Great old school boozer with a good range of craft beers, wines and cocktails. Traditional features throughout the bar add the the vibe and staff are friendly. Shows Sky Sports, which is a bonus. Perfect place for an after work drink or casual Sunday. They also serve pizzas from Ramsay's Street Pizza round the corner

Nice wee pub, friendly bar staff. Decent selection of beer and spirits available. If you're not good at stairs, don't try to use the loo. The building is very old and they cannot make many changes so it's stairs, stairs, stairs.

The toilets are rancid & you can smell them from the bar. Shame, a really nice place otherwise

Out on the lash, we had a big time at Clark’s. If you are looking for the traditional public house experience, drop by for a pint. Not much has changed since 1899, including some of the clientele…

There are some really nasty regulars (old drunks from the looks of them) hangin around here harassing tourists and being rude to the bartender and bossing him around. Poor guy- he is just tryin to be nice and do his job but they don’t want outsiders in here. There are literally hundreds of better pubs in Edinburgh who treat people decently.

Not been before as it always used to seem like a place you had to belong and had heard it was not the nicest place to go for a relaxing drink. Not sure if it has been renovated recently but it is quite stylish and quirky. Been a bar for 125 years so lots of nice Victorian features but modernised well. Good range of beers including local craft ales.

Great little pub with beautiful interior. Great Atmosphere And Exceptional Service from all bar staff( more pubs need to come here to take lessons). And one of the Best Pints of Guinness in Edinburgh Also Great Selection of Malt Whiskeys. What Real Locals should be like

Great pub, great Guinness, sat in the beautiful High chairs in the corner of pub....beautifully lay out, manager came over sat with us lovely eyes and VERY knowelable about the sourouding area..wonderful selection of drams...DEFINITELY be back

Under new management. The old place was a little wanting in the hygiene and card processing departments. All good to go now, decent selection of reds, pleasant staff, and when it was on, the rugby shown. I approve. Thanks Matt & co.

What a surprising delicacy! Who would have thought that haggis Pakora with mustard sauce could be so tasty?! The ox cheek on crispy polenta with a teeny fried quails egg (£6) deserved Michelin star. The ale was well kept too. What a good place to eat and drink!

Nice enough bar, ale not well cared for though and wine prices outrageous! Rip off.

Just stopped for an impromptu pint after a dog walk, ended up having 3 bar snacks all of which were delicious and well priced. Welcoming and friendly staff, will definitely be back.

One of Edinburgh's history gem pubs, recently reopened after a bit of a pair job, but all the character remains. Very chatty barerson who managed to deal with a busy crowd with a great smile and lively humour. Nice selection of the big named beers and some local draft lines, sadly no tea or coffee.

Un bon lieux pour dégommer de la Innis and Gunn où bien un des nombreux wisky proposé. Le gérant et le barman sont hyper cool. Il y'a des écran pour regarder le foot ou le rugby mais ici priorité au fond sonore rock'n'roll avec une playlist vraiment cool et pas trop fort au niveau du volume sonore. En fin d'après-midi ça se remplit pas mal et il y règne une bonne ambiance très amicale.

Nicely renovated (July 19), original Edinburgh maroon Victorian pub. Some Cask ales and the usual Tennants and Guinness, etc. New owners have brought it some vibrancy and energy.

I've met some nice Scottish professional couple, had a very informative conversation. They recommend some of the places to visit and places to take my tourists customers. Brilliant.

Proper old pub with a few screens for watching sport. Shame they ran out of pies on Saturday, I was hungry and they sounded good. They have daily papers so it's good spot for hiding in the corner with a paper and a pint.

Many an after work beer has been had in here. If there's enough of you to grab a back room, you'll have a brilliant night.
