Jumbo House Chinese Take Away in New Forest

Best Chinese takeaway I've had in a long time, if not my whole life. Bit out of our area, but well worth travelling for.

Our regular take away, always good, particularly the salt and pepper chicken wings.

Really sorry to advise of a really bad meal Order incorrect and missing items Food was barely warm Very small portions Flavours not great at all Spicy crispy beef - not spicy or crispy Sweet and sour - very watery Have ordered previously and not had a bad experience Everyone has an off day I appreciate, BUT was told on the phone that it’s a Saturday and we are busy , not mitigation IMO

Food that was ordered.... Chicken chow mien, Dry spare ribs, Prawn chow mien, Sweet and Sour Prawn balls and chips. Overall, the taste wasn't too bad, but the consistency of the chow mien noodles was very slimmy and pappy. The dry spare ribs had the appearance that they had iodine sprayed on them. As for the other dishes, they seemed OK but I have had better without doubt.

I can’t recommend this Chinese Take Away Highly excellent tasty. Food reasonably priced great friendly owner. Best place in this parade of shops by a country by mile. Highly Recommended

Food was lovely although i couldnt get boiled rice just special fried.

Lovely food, we have Chinese takeaways closer but choose to travel a bit further for this one as it’s worth it!

Best local Chinese Takeaway EVER!!

We have used this takaway twice and both times they tried to overcharge us lucky for us that we check the prices before we order. The first time they gave us the wrong order, Lemon Chicken instead of Chicken with pineapple and the second time there was no sauce with the barbecue ribs and very little sauce with the chicken satay. Obvously this seems to be the area they are cutting down on to make more money after the covid lockdown. Not impressed and will not use them again.

We often eat Chinese food in London & Manchester, especially South Manchester, but although we’ve never written a review before, we have to go on record as saying that THIS WAS THE BEST CHINESE TAKEAWAY WE’VE EVER HAD. The chicken sweetcorn soup was superb. Not some reheated mush. 10 out of ten. Then the BBQ ribs. To die for! Each dish had its own unique taste. The only disappointment was the realisation that this food was miles away from home in a sleepy village. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

We had a meal whilst visiting Ashurst last weekend and all I can say is.... I wish Jumbo House was our Local! Food was absolutely incredible! Will definitely order again when we visit 😃

We just moved to the area and Jumbo House is our new local Chinese restaurant. I am so please it's a good one! We have eaten here three times now and each time it has been delicious.

Food was nice but in my opinion the portions where a little small . Whilst I was there the phone rang alot so popular however I prefer my regular Chinese (MIngs) food and portions better

This Chinese take away has been in the village as long as I can remember, it has to be around 30 years. You’re always guaranteed high quality food, good portion size and a warm welcome from Jimmy.It is the most consistent take away establishment I have ever used and over the decades we’ve never had a bad meal. This in itself is quite a feat but I put it down to being a family run business.If you’re having friends over (before lockdown) you can order from Jumbo House and have a choice of food that will cater for everyone and not have to worry about the quality of the food as it’s always first class.

Staying local in the area we thought we would try this establishment for a quick takeaway meal. All food was prepared and cook to a very high standard. Prices were good too. If we lived in the area we would use on a regular basis.

Last comida fue fantastico con picante, rico y caliente y por si no fuera bastante no es caro. Mi restaurante favorito ahora mismo, fue buena relación calidad-precio y es cerca a mi casa.

Normally I don't like Chinese food but when a friend recommended Jumbo House my partner wanted to give it a try. Everything was delicious. We've ordered food from here various times over the summer and every meal has been really tasty and excellent value for money.

Warm welcome from staff at Jumbo House; fast, efficient service; excellent and varied menu and always a hot and tasty meal to enjoy at home.

The food was so greasy couldn’t taste much flavour. Never had a chinese takeaway like it. Wouldn’t recommend.

Friendly prompt service, very useful for local campsites

There are other options closer to us that even deliver but we opt for a short drive every time. Delicious chunks of chicken in the curry, yummy rice, nicely cooked chips and prawn crackers. I'm a big fan of the spicy peking ribs and they are always happy to adjust my mixed veg as I don't like mushrooms. 9 out of 10 times its ready in 10—15 minutes and never taken longer than 30 minutes which was on an exceptionally busy Bank Holiday. Payment cash or card.

We ordered over the phone and we didn’t have to wait too long to pick food up. Food was nice and a reasonable price. Wish they did delivery!

One of the best Chinese takeaways in the area. Particularly good for sauces. Their sweet and sour is excellent. The BBQ spare ribs are also excellent. Prawn crackers aren't free here. So if you want them order them.

We moved to Marchwood just before Christmas and have not found a decent chinese since we moved . Other half has his chiropractor there and went to this takeaway on the way back. Really nice food, good portion sizes / my favourite is the king po king prawns with mushroom rice.

I called in after the gym & ordered the £16 meal for 2 persons. They kindly substituted the pancake roll containing pork (which I don’t eat) for prawn roasts and mini vegetarian rolls which was considerate. Tasty starters but the toast was light on prawns.The sweet & chicken balls were ok but a little greasy with regards to the batter.I don’t think the overall quantity was generous given the cost as I managed to eat 3/4 of the meal for 2 . The chicken & prawn rice was (ok) and the chicken and mushroom dish could have done with more garlic.The overall menu is quite extensive, the staff are very courteous - a plus and the place smells clean when you walk in not of stale cooking oil.Overall-average, I just wish the portions were a bit larger!

Great ribs, rice, chow mein. Hot, great portions, would happily go back. As good as I've had elsewhere. Nice guy on the till too.

Food here is at an average price for a Chinese It tastes really good and the standards of the cooking is the same every day so you know exactly what you are getting and what to expect Well worth a try

Called in here while in the New Forest in our Motorhome,We were well please with the food we ordered.And will visit again the next time in the New Forest.

Staying with friends nearby and just took a gamble on a set meal for 4. What an excellent choice it was, the staff are pleasant, it is immaculate and the food superb. Will definitely visit again.

The food is fresh and pretty tasty.

Really nice tasting food, reasonably priced. Unfortunately we had a mix up in our order, however it was all good in the end.

A varied menu and the prices were average for the area. But we found that the food wasn't that scrumptious. The Roast Pork meal was several slim slithers of roast pork on a bed of plain bean sprouts and a drip of sauce.... Quick ordering and serving...and pretty good to get back to the campsite - nice and hot!

Nestled in the row of shops by Ashurst train station is a standard looking Chinese Takeaway. Go inside and it might as well be the carbon copy of what you expect in such a place. TV on, a few chairs and magazines. Laminated menu. I loved it. The guy at the desk was friendly and chatty, very nice guy. The meal came quick and was hot. It was good, average, not amazing though. To be honest, it was a bit bland. If you like your Chinese style food not too spicy, this is not a bad place at all. But not really spicy enough for me. Certainly not to be avoided, but the search for my replacement Chinese restaurant is continues.

Been coming here for so many years! The food is amazing, cost worthy and overall YUMMY! If ever we go for a takeaway, this on is the one to go for in the new forest.

We went to a few places and also ate at the holiday accommodation. We went to this Chinese on the last day [unfortunately].It was excellent for value and the meal was lovely. I would like this as my local but this is too far to travel to from Warrington.

This is one of the best Chinese take aways I've had in a few years. The food was fresh hot and full of flavour. No sweet sauces glooped all over everything. The pancake rolls were delicious and crispy on the outside without a grease sea, the same said for the prawn crackers. The noodles and bean sprouts were cooked to perfection and the spicy Singaporean rice lovely. Chicken with cashews, and barbecue ribs were my favourite.

This was the best sweet & sour Hong Kong style I have ever had from a takeaway, can't wait to try another dish.
