Great to drop in here for a morning brew. Ok I have in and had ice cream instead - v tasty. Clearly they were lent geared up for this many people on a Thursday am - long queue formed and drinks took a while. Still a most welcome break and good to have outside seats for nice weather.

Appalling!!! Horrid attitude, waited in the queue with my 4 young children all excited for an ice cream watching the people in front get served, when all of a sudden miserable lady pops and and says we’re stopping serving!!! I would understand if it was already closed, but it’s not hard to serve if cream to the last few people in the queue, rather than leaving 4 unhappy kids because they couldn’t be bothered with an extra 30 seconds, lazy strange behaviour. Also this was at 4.00pm and states 4,15pm online, must have been somewhere exciting the lady had to be

A nice walk followed by a nice English breakfast. This was unfortunately spoilt by a member of staff (older woman with glasses) speaking to our party like a piece of dirt under your shoe. That same member of staff then barged one of our party members out the way when collecting the plates. Her attitude towards us was so disrespectful and unprofessional we opted to go to another venue for our sweet treat afterwards rather than paying for their options on display.

Really pleased to see the cafe greatly improved and nicely updated so well done for that. Sadly our visit was entirely ruined from beginning to end by the drone of the vacuum cleaner. The person vacuuming was insistent on going over and over the same area. I wouldn't mind but there was barely anything to hoover up. We did consider moving outside as it was so bad but it was cold. Please clean up after closing time and respect your visitors.

Visited the Jumbles cafe for a bit of lunch with my daughter today. Daughter had a small breakfast which was really well presented and she says it was all v v nice. I am caeliac so worry sometimes about eating out. I had leek and potato soup which was v good and had gf bread. We also has coffee and cake, a very good selection of gf cakes, I had the Victoria sponge it was one of the nicest gf cakes I’ve had. I would DEFINITELY return for lunch again and felt very confident about eating their gf options. Plus it was decorated beautifully for Xmas, very cosy and warm.

Hearing that the Jumbles Café had changed hands, we decided to make a special visit to see if the new owner had improved both the menu and the general appearance of the place, both of which were very much needed. As soon as we walked in, it was quite obvious that Lizzie the owner, had made a massive difference! What had been a rather rundown and sad café, is now a delightful place to enjoy the delicious food and drinks on offer. Lizzie is very artistic and the interior design is fresh, colourful and imaginative. We are volunteers for the RSPB and had previously got an RSPB BADGE BOX there, until the café became a little run down and customers dwindled away. When we asked if she would accept us having one there, Lizzie enthusiastically said she was happy to do so and since then the sale of the RSPB Badges has soared! We think that Lizzie is quite a collector of these badges herself, in fact! All members of the staff are polite, friendly and very obliging, so another huge plus for this lovely walking area, with four-legged friends made very welcome to enjoy the café, with their well behaved owners! Jumbles Café is really worth making a special journey for a good breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea, even if you haven't got a four-legged friend. You might even find a gift for a friend or relation, or even as a treat for yourself, from the wide range of scarves and hats, expertly knitted by Lizzie's mum. In a nutshell, Jumbles Café is a little Gem, so go and see for yourself and well done Lizzie, you must be very proud of yourself! Jill & Ken

We visit the cafe on a regular basis as we live locally and walk around the park often. Today’s visit I was made to feel like a their in front of a queue full of people. We went inside to order a coffee, two drinks and two scoops of ice cream, one with a flake. We were then asked to go outside to collect our ice cream. We waited in the queue again, and ordered our ice cream (two scoops) and pointed to a tub which was labelled double scoop. I informed the lovely young man who was serving us we had already paid. At which point the blonde women came over and said we had ordered the wrong tubs and that we needed to pay more. I explained it said double tub, presuming that’s what we paid for. She said not. I offered to give it back, but she demanded we pay. Embarrassed I paid but we were made to feel like thieves. She had no interest in customer service and wasn’t pleasant at all. The young man apologised (it wasn’t his fault). I would avoid this cafe, unless you are ok with being made to feel like a thief. I would recommend the fisheries at the other end, much nicer coffee and customer service. Or the ice cream shop in Edgworth as the ice cream is lovely there and it’s service with a smile.

We visited today and were turned away because the staff were having a break. I agree that staff breaks are needed and are a good thing but when the cafe has only been opened for 2 hours, there are three people working there and they only allow one person at the time, there’s no need to close the business for 20 minutes at lunch peak time. Don’t bother going in and support other local businesses who are far more friendly. Very badly run and unfriendly.

What a really dull old-fashioned cafe with a very limited menu with stuffed animals in glass cases with clothes for sale and not very friendly staff at all ...this place would be amazing if it was like the fantastic Lamppost Cafe in Burrs Park in Bury but unless somebody gets their act together they will never see more than 5 or 6 people at a time in this cafe and it needs to be dog friendly as well just like the one at Burrs Park ...so maybe somebody needs to see what the competition in the area is doing!

After a few months of this cafe becoming decidedly dull it's getting a well needed makeover. The staff are all friendly and especially so to anybody with learning difficulties or any sort of disability. They are back to making wonderful home made soups and other light meals and have introduced filter coffee which was excellent. The range of soft drinks, teas and ice cream flavours is also expanding all the time. Considering the few good days which have to make up for the many quiet ones, the prices are reasonable and I can't fault the service and warm welcome. They can also offer advice on walking routes such as how to link up a walk round the three connecting reservoirs of which the Jumbles is just one. You can spend the whole day on this walk starting at the cafe and topping up with refreshments at the Black bull pub and the Strawberry Duck at Entwistle. One of Lancashire's finest mini walks!

This café has the potential to be lovely, great setting, lots of people walking by, free car park etc. In reality the interior is very dated, cold and the staff do not offer a warm welcome. The food looks unappetising so we did not try it. We did however have some tea which was served in polystyrene cups with tea bags still floating about. No spoon/stirrer or any instructions on what to do with the tea bag or how to get milk/sugar. Looking round we found a cup with a couple of pre-used spoons and an open dustbin for the tea bags, next to a school style plastic jug of milk and some dirty looking sugar. With some investment this could be a lovely spot but until then I would go somewhere else.

My wife and I took my Mother-in-law for a sit on the bench and an ice cream in the sun. My Mother-in-law is very poorly, weak and has virtually no mobility. We arrived to find all the disabled parking spaces full (there are benches in front of the disabled spaces and these look over the reservoir so she only has to walk five or six steps) however when I looked one of the cars did not have a disabled badge so I went into the cafe to see if I could find out who the owner was and see if they were able to move it.Imagine my amazement when I found that the owner of the car was one of the staff who informed me that she was not disabled but she routinely used that space. In addition there was a staff car park directly behind with a spare space! She gave the impression that she was 'put out' at having to move her car.WE SHALL NOT BE BACK, believe me there are far better places to admire the countryside round here.

Saw him coughing into his hands then serving a pasty and ice creams. He was blowing his nose on a dirty tissue he kept in his apron pocket whilst stood behind the counter. There was no hand washing and no sign of hand gel being used. If this is what happens in full view of the cafe, who knows what is going on behind the scenes in the kitchen? Visited after a walk round the reservoir. Where to start, it was the worst cafe we have visited in a long, long while, in fact I think it is the worst ever. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired and the quality of the food and drink is well below average. Whilst "enjoying" our items, the bloke who was wondering round with no particular purpose, propped the front door open and left us sitting in a draught. It is hard to distinguish staff from customers and the place has as much charm and appeal as a bus shelter. Do yourself a favour make some butties and a flask to enjoy on your walk instead.

After a dreadfully long wait due to staffing, we finally received what felt like two paper bags of fresh air masquerading as sausage sandwiches. The £2.99 cost per sandwich entitled us to a bog standard barm cake and one, yes, one thin, cheap sausage. When we questioned this with the lady running the cafe, she informed us that they only ever put one sausage on their sandwiches. No apology, no regret, no offer to upgrade their meagre offering! We will not be going back! I could have made 6 decent quality sandwiches overflowing with sausages for the same cost of their overinflated joke of a sandwich!

So no i do not recommended this cafe.Feel sorry for the other lady who worked there as she has to work for/alongside this nasty piece of work.

Service was terrible. The woman was rude, had a face like thunder and needs to attend a customer service course. I order a BLT and when it came it looked distinctly like a bacon sandwich with lettuce in. Low and behold it was a bacon sandwich with lettuce in. This place could be great. Change the staff and have quality food and affordable prices. My bacon sandwich with lettuce was £3.75. I was going to call the police as I was robbed blind.

Visited Jumbles Cafe after a delightful walk today looking forward to some nice grub - unfortunately not the case. I ordered a sausage balm for £2.95 and was greeted with a bun the size of a baby's palm which contained one cigarette sized sausage cut in half. My partner ordered a jacket potato with cheese and beans which came to a stunning £4.50 and tasted/looked like dog faeces. Avoid at all costs.

a nice cafe for a quick bite to eat - lots to read about the area on the walls, nice pasties, and quick friendly service

The worst value and quality food I've had for a long time. Ham sandwich, 2 slices of cheap white bread, with a slice of ham £3.75. A cheese toastie that was so bland and thin. I would either bring my own sandwiches or go hungry rather than use this place again.

Had a bit of time to kill so popped in for a brew and a cake. Not a bad selection but the chocolate cake was a little dry and needed some cream. However they only do clotted cream not pouring cream. The brew was nice, once I'd exchanged the cup with lipstick on. Mistakes happen and its how they deal with them that's important. Not a bad place to relax.

I visited the watergate Toby carvery on wednesday 7th as a family, 4 adults and 2 children. We were visiting as a treat for my granddaughters birthday and the whole process was terrible. Myself being coeliac was left unable to eat as there wasn’t food available at the carvery, eg there were few carrots, what was there was dry and crispy and going brown. The leek and cabbage mix was the same, very little in the dish and it was dry and going brown. The staff did do me some cauliflower however that was brought out to the table before any food haad been brought to the children and we didn’t want to get food and start to eat before the children had their food. That cauliflower wasn’t drained well but regardless it was cold soon. my granddaughter and grandson both wanted garlic bread starter, apparently you didn’t have any. They had to then settle for tomato soup which they didn’t really want but don’t like prawns so had no other option. their soup was brought out and the brown my grandaughter had was filled, my grand sons was half ful, of course being 10 years old he wasn’t understanding why the difference, the cost was the same. 5 of us got a hot chocolate and 1 of us had a Pepsi however due to the next issues 2 of us ended up with our hot chocolate drinks being cold 3 of us adults went for the carvery but this is when I could not even get food for my plate However I spoke to the manager on the day and was much less than satisfied The manager was very rude and tried to blame me for there being no fresh veg available, he declared that we shou,d have warned them that we would want fresh vegetables, in 40 years of going to such places I’ve never been told I need to pre book there being vegetables available. Anyone going to a carvery would expect there to be basic vegetables. Carrots, peas and so on The 2 staff members serving behind the carvery counter were also pretty rude. The chef complained that he only has one pair of hands. The turkey had run out but there was a small amount on my plate, I had beef too but they needed more turkey out and while I was stood there with food on my plate as in the bit of turkey and the beef, I was then told the fresh turkey would be out in 10 minutes. No apology, no offer to keep my food warm. Instead I was left stood there having to partly eat while waiting as it was going cold. I had requested fresh roasts with dripping as there were none out at all. I then asked where the fresh veg was and it’s clear I was an inconvenience. In the end I went to sit down, gave them the plate back and saw my family had all started to eat but not one of them had eaten more than half their food. They were not happy with the food. When I complained to the manager that I then no longer even wanted to eat as I would have had the 5 of them sitting waiting for me to finish which wasn’t acceptable for a family meal and we had pre booked tickets to take the children to a local place where they have inflatables so we couldn’t keep hanging around. The manager as mentioned above tried to put this back on me saying we should have pre booked fresh veg to be available. One look at your reviews on trip advisor and Google shows this is certainly not an isolated complaint I certainly gave the manager my thoughts on the treatment we received and I shouldn’t have paid. Totally disgusted with the treatment and service however the young lady who took our drink order and answered our questions did her best. I complained further via X and was contacted by the General Manager Sophie on 12th August. I was unable to respond straight away due to health problems however this should not be an issue and I replied on 26th August asking for more details about the so called investigation into the issues I raised, I want accountability not just offered a voucher for a unknown amount, could have been a £10 voucher for all knew which would leave me with further outgoings. The day was ruined for 6 members of my family, this was the first time I’d been able to take 5 family members and myself for a meal and was left so disappointed, as were every one of us. I have had no response to this email “ Hi Sophie Sorry fir the delay responding, I have thought about your offer however perhaps you could give more detail? You mention other restaurants we could attend however as a party of 6 and only one car in the family this causes difficulties as we are limited to where we can travel as my daughter & son in law had to ferry us about making 4 different journeys to get us all to the carvery in the first place and also my son may have to bring my 2 year old granddaughter if his partner is working so not sure where that would leave us however if we were to travel this would incur further costs for myself to make sure we can all get to any destination as my family are on low incomes. It was the first time we had all gone to somewhere together so was a rare treat. Also I’d like to add that we had pre booked a session at air bounce as part of the treat fir my granddaughters birthday so not only did I not get to eat in the carvery but I could not then eat until I returned home. The mood of the family by this point had been affected to the point no one really enjoyed the rest of the day. You say you would be investigating the issues raised, have you done that yet and if so may I ask the outcome?”

Mid week the atmosphere is great and relaxing, quite lively at a weekend. we have had 1 bad service experience previously however, this seems to have been rectified which is great. Menu has a lot of choice and they will accommodate dietary requirements too. Hope it continues to grow in strength!
