Best chippy in Bolton, always reliable. Cash only. Only wish their fish was bigger.

Food here used to be the best, however, recently they have started to use boxed findus type fish not the fresh battered they used to cook. Customers used to queue outside but not anymore. In my opinion, quality has gone down and the price has gone up. Try another chippy.☹️

Great chippy and very good chineese meals too. Only downside is "cash only".

Visited tonight as our usual local chippy wasn't open. Excellent food. Fish is great. Reasonable prices. Service was very quick. Even chucked in a small freebie. We'll be coming back.

Literally the best Chippy in the world

Food from here has gone way down hill over the past few years! Chips are half cooked (if even cooked at all), sausage is a mushy mess! Only good thing was the curry but even that might give you the squirts 😬 definitely better chippy’s out there! Sorry!

Can’t really give an honest review as I’ve not managed to try the food yet. Tried 3 times after being turned away with them having set times selling Chinese food. The time I went in and it was the right day for Chinese food I waited 40 mins in the queue to be told they’d finished making Chinese again. They literally pick and choose when they make certain dishes and seem to be happy turning business away. They could at least put a sign up when they decide to stop making anything but chips. Not trying again

Used to be such a good chippy. Last few times I’ve been it’s been average but tonight it was awful. Chips were cold and hard and tasted like they had been reheated from yesterday. Left most of it. Won’t be going back in a hurry.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour displayed after they made our order wrong.. Extremely rude!! No customer service and 'smart' remarks made by the people running this place!! Food completely inadequate and made how they like it rather than how it's asked for / how the customer wants it !! AVOID!!!! Every other Chinese in Bolton makes dishes correctly or how their customers want it and don't argue about their own mistakes. Utter nonsense!!!

Always a long queue outside, Always a Good sign. Great food at resemble prices. Chips and Fish, sausages, pies, 1/2 chicken, mushy peas, curry and gravy. Chinese dishes served are made fresh and quickly.

You can't advertise you open till 9.30 then close regularly at 9.00.......told you before but you don't seem to understand. Close at 9 but tell people, you've lost 5 customers tonight due to false advertising of your hours. Not right guys.

The best chippy around, the chicken fried rice with curry sauce and chips is to die for.

Ordered fish and chips all food was greasy and the fish had clearly been cooked a long time before I got it. But I did get free prawn crackers which where very good.

Really friendly, chips are delicious and so are the prawn crackers , they didn't make it home we ate them in the car 😁 parking can be a bit of a nightmare but all round decent chippy !!!

Freshly prepared food and lovely staff. You may wait a while but it's definitely worth the wait. You can also ring ahead to place your order.

Very disappointed to receive another sad greasy mess that sticks to the paper in a pool of grease. While the chips sat in paper the fish was cooked to order, taken out of the fryer and placed in paper. however, on checking it was decided not yet cooked and thrown back inside. Eventually retrieved from the fat and dropped directly onto the same paper. The result was a soggy mess of fish mixed with paper when we got home. We used to love this chippy but will now go elsewhere. Pretty nice chips. Mum liked the peas. I had a chip barm, fresh and hot, although couldn't taste vinegar, even after requesting extra. Might be watered down. The shop is a bit of a mess to know where to stand, order, pay, and collect. Staff seemed to work orders one at a time, instead of having one person taking a few orders, and one person filling them. Resulted in a bit of a wait. Acceptable pricing. Definitely worth a visit for chips, but room for improvement with service and vinegar.

Massive piece of sharp plastic in the curry causing damage to my mouth. Absolutely gutted because I couldn't eat the rest of my food. Wasted my money. Won't be returning.

Food is usually great. However, two times now I've tried ringing to place an order. The first time was a few Saturdays ago, no answer after 20 attempts. I drove past and it was busy, so just assumed that was the reason why. Tonight - Wednesday evening. Tried ringing about 15 times. No answer. So I drive to the chippy. Empty. I ask if they've changed their number - her answer "we don't serve Chinese on a Monday or Wednesday anymore". Strange. But to not answer the phone??? Wasted journey. No apology. Thanks.

They only accept cash payments. Be aware before you arrive- no cash points local. I tried this chippy out after reading the reviews and I was quite disappointed. The gravy tasted like a cheap brand with too much water, which ruined the chips. I wouldn't eat here again nor recommend

Best chips in Greater Manchester. Free prawn crackers or small drink with most orders . Chinese food good and plenty of it. Only trouble is, there is always a big queue that speaks volumes.

Really excellent food. Quality Chinese as well as fish and chips. Best to preorder and save the wait time on chinese. I can highly recommend the salt and pepper chips. Only 4 stars as the fish is half the size it used to be.

Originally from Bolton and now living in London I think this is the best chippy not just in Bolton but England. Went to Whitby last year to the supposedly best fish n chips in the uk n both wife n I rated su’s fish way better. That’s not to mention the best gravy we’ve ever tasted. Went Wednesday lunch time before going home n was brilliant!

Su's is a fantastic fish and chip shop, a family owned business, who cook a good range of hot English and Chinese dishes, always of good quality at a very reasonable price, I have been using this business for 35 years and never had a complaint, staff are friendly and helpful and will answer your questions, and advise you about any specific requirements.

Got a special curry egg fried rice and chips here Saturday evening. Waited nearly 2 hours till order was ready. Me and my son shared it plenty for two. Rice was ok so were the chips, when started on special curry the chicken did NOT taste like chicken the beef was the slippy stuff NOT PROPER BEEF. Could not eat it I don’t know where the meat came from but it was not proper meat from a butcher. Monday both of us Sick and the Runs. By Monday. Never again. Sorry but honest. Years ago we went to a Chinese near where we used to live. Fab food Real steak Real Chicken everything spot on but the old man passed away, I’ve been looking for the same food since not a chance everyone we’ve tried has been c—-p. Can anyone please let me know a good takeaway that uses real steal real chicken Yes real Meat please.

Don't know if this was a one-off, but my food today was hot,greasy & completely tasteless.The chips were appalling. I also noticed that none of my other fellow customers were wearing face covering's , & the staff didn't ask them to, either. I won't be going back.

Good Lord. I can't understand the queues for here. I got a chop suey roll (the mark of a decent Chinese, imo 😉) and it was without doubt the cheapest & nastiest I've had, bar none. Chopped up cabbage and carrot and nothing else. I watched what others were ordering and it looked awful. Sticking with Lucky Star on Deane Rd....

I've been going to Su's now for around 30 years. They are by far the best chippy I've ever been to. For those who say there's no other chippy nearby, there have been tons over the years, I used to work at Belmont House Chippy just up the road, but when I finished my shift I headed down to Su's for the good stuff! The reason many have gone is because Su's is so much better. I moved away from Bolton many years ago but whenever I get chance to come back I always visit Su's for one of their trademark Chip Curry Barms with scaps. I've brought people down all the way from Glasgow and they were blown away by how good Su's are. As soon as I get the chance I'll be heading over there again even though I live an hour away.

Well we've been using this chippy for 35 years now and can't remember ever having been disappointed. Sadly I've been shielding this last 12 weeks so haven't been allowed to indulge myself to a fish and chip tea. Looking forward to the day I am allowed to go back in , place an order and say hello to the most friendly chip shop staff in Bolton.

I have lived in the area here for a while, I have heard so many good words about this establishment but this is not what I encounter, I would say 50/50 hit and miss, after 8 weeks of no restaurants wife said sues was open and no queues 21/05/2020 4. 50pm so we agreed to be bad and have our first take away in months due to covid restrictions, the meal was putrid, chips were the dregs warm and old, fish was so poor, no crispy batter, half the meal hit the bin and I will not use them again, to be honest if they shut down as half of takeaways should they would not be missed

Lovely food, fair price and a huge range of food. Only con is the waiting time for food, which can take around 25 minutes, but the quality of the food makes up for it. Trust me

People rave about this chippy but I can't see why. Everything is above average compared to some chip shops in the area and it's plus point is it is reliable, no more nor less. I go regularly because it is consistent, not that it cooks the most amazing food in the world.

As a family we tend to get our weekly Thursday night chippy from this chippy which also serves chinese cuisine. It is always good and always fresh and it certainly keeps us coming back for more.

Whenever I am in Bolton I always go to sues chippy. I am a southerner and I have to admit northern chips are the best. They are soft and soggy which is so much better than dry and crispy chips. Well done to Sues chippy.

This place has been going for ages. I've been going there for about 35 years. Very popular and busy. Food is always of the same standard but a little expensive on their fish and chips and £1 for the curry sauce is more than I'm prepared to pay.
