J's Plaice in Ards

Quality of food wasn't what it used to be, fish is smaller but batter is thicker. The thick batter was undercooked. The new cash only policy is not convenient either.

They have always been my preferred choice for ordering. However, its quality and service standards have experienced a notable decline over the past few months. Initially, the issues were confined to inaccuracies with our orders, but I wasn't really concerned as minor things do happen. Regrettably, the most recent experience has changed my opinion and goodwill. While you would expect a level of at least minimal attention for an order of >£30, they chose to deliver the five burgers ordered, without salad as requested. I mean, you could have just read the order. But... the worst part was that the garlic sauce has gone bad, and resulted in me being sick for the past two days. Never again.

Over 2 hrs for delivery. Less than 10 minutes away. Shocking

Currently waiting over an hour and I live 500 yards away. Second time this has happened, 1 hour and 40 mins the last time. Clearly down to the delivery driver, nothing to do with the food. Won't be ordering again.

Chips onion rings and fish excellent! Pizza was black on the base and not particularly crispy on the top. Otherwise a good experience

Fish is not the best no flavour very greasy leaves a bad taste in the mouth

Never Order Delivery from here. Should have looked at previous delivery reviews as they are all low reviews. It took 2 hours for 2 meals from a chippy?! Tried to call the shop fom Uber Eats App didnt work which apparently has been a problem before and they still have yet to fix. Food is Cold. Do Not Order Delivery

Just stopped in for fish and chips to eat out on a lovely evening,have to say food was delicious, staff nice and friendly .Will most certainly be back ,

So far, I've tried a fish supper with a side of curry sauce, and a pastie dinner. Both were really tasty and big portions. Curry was Chinese type and really nice. Great value. Top marks 👌

Ordered delivery to bangor,2 kebab meat and chips,1 chicken kebab and 1 cowboy supper. steaming hot and very tasty. Good portion size too.been over a few times.very good food.fish is the best ever😋

Whilst on holiday in Northern Ireland called here 3 times. Tried fish suppers, cheesy chips, sausage supper, curry sauce and veggie sausage. All of these were well cooked and generous portions. Staff were always cheerful and friendly (even when we turned up just before closing time). Just wish we had a chippy like this where we live.

Absolutely beautiful food,i regularly get a fish supper and always top quality, but tonight yous out done yourselves, it was huge, didn't know whether to eat it or get a saddle for it 😂 can't recommend you highly enough, thankyou

We got 2 fish suppers for £15.20 bargin, 2 massive and delicious meals. Next time we visit this coast we'll be back here. Staff are really friendly and professional.

Ordered through Uber Eats, and received confirmation of my order with an estimated delivery time. The time came and went. Then the restaurant closed with no update. I attempted calling multiple times and got no answer. So now it's two hours after my original order and I have no dinner. Thanks for nothing, J'S Plaice. Won't be ordering again.

Got fish chips and mushy peas from here tonight. It was beautiful cooked to perfection and a good size fish 1st time here I will be back.

Went as they do a lot of vegetarian dishes. I'm not a vegetarian. The food is cooked separately (veggie & meaty). My food (pastie) was nice but it wasnt crispy batter which I personally like... I think I should probably give it 5* as it seems very busy, so it might just be me and my personal preference.

First time Getting food from here and it didn't disappoint. The goujons were the best I've tasted and the portions are great. Thank you 😊

Ordered for delivery.Food arrived after 1 hour and 45 minutes, it wasn’t freezing but definitely was not as warm as it should have been.When we enquired as to where it was we were told the driver had it, it either took him 45 mins to cover 4 miles or we were lied to. Got into our meals when the mrs found a hair in hers, chucked both meals out after eating some because our stomachs were turned. Not the hygiene standards expected even pre pandemic. Never again.

Took my money, I paid online, never delivered the food. All I can say is disgrace. An absolute disgrace and completely disrespectful.

I have recently started using this chippy for various reasions. Have always staff and fish etc great. Was in tonight and asked if I wanted a receipt. Said yes and was asked for email address. I declined. No way!

I'll try this again because first time review disappeared second time I did it under wrong business some how...The fish is cooked fresh which is great, the chips however are a little bit and miss.The fish batter is beautiful and crisp served is a proper box, not wrapped in paper that goes soggy by the time you get home...I have been three times now I I think it's my regular chippy...

terrible chippy I'm glad it closed but a bit suspicious of the new management sign why would you keep it the same name that wrecked the reputation of the previous management when it was called south street chippy I'd like to try it but I just have a bad taste in my mouth from my previous visits and feel it's just one of those tricks to make you think it's under new management change the sign make it your own if it's new management and people will come back to many good chippys in ARDS especially since John Dory's has open in ARDS

Decided to give this " new " place a try. Ordered a cod supper to take away. Fish was freshly cooked. Was put in a proper box. Staff were friendly. Fish was lovely, batter as it should be, crispy and crunchy. Chips were nicely cooked (not soggy). Hope they can maintain this standard.

Onion rings weren't cooked right chicken goujons where the same your batter is to thick needs thin it out a bit then it would be perfect

I got 2 fish suppers large fish cooked to perfection chips take me back to old style chips staff second to none friendly and efficient all in all I would highly recommend this chippy to anyone I will definitely be back waiting time was short don't have a bad word to say try for yourself guarantee you won't be disappointed thank you loved it

Best Chippy in North Down area by a mile and the staff are spot on! Couldn't recommend enough!

Dropped in at 9.30pm to be told that as they had NO chips left they were closing - I know its a chippy but they do MAKE and SELL other things. I did ask if they could do me a pastie but they refused as had no chips... did I ask for chips? No!

Good food and friendly staff - food is about the cheapest in the town but this does not mean the food quality is not great - it is excellent.

Taco chip with no mince???? Joke. That's not a taco chip. It's a chip with cheese and taco sause. Very poor
