Warm and Inviting. With a great selection of coffees, teas, and other hot and cold drinks. All served with a smile. Great way to spend a lazy morning.

Only in for coffee and hot chocolate but both were delicious

Been going here since it opened it is a popular spot. Coffee and eats are good and staff are friendly. Could do with an decorative update imo as it is getting a little tired.

Great selection of coffee all nicely presented and served. This is a very popular branch right in the centre of the town so at times be patient and expect to be in a queue.

Took kids for a pre Easter treat and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Young server named Garth was pleasant, welcoming and provided a top class service. Will be back again 🙂

Coffee is excellent as ever, but I queued for 20 minutes to get it. There are two staff members. The girl who served me was lovely. The other member was flat out doing Just Eat and click and collect orders. If the company is going to offer this service, it needs to employ sufficient staff to deal with those customers that physically come into the cafe. Staffing levels are frequently an issue at all Nero's cafés and this also has knock on issues for tables being cleared and general hygiene.

Got two coffees to go, was given the option to try the new coffee blend so gave it a shot. We spoke about the syrup and decided on caramel. However, both of us couldn't taste it so we didn't enjoy our coffees, but as we'd got them to takeaway, it was too late to rectify. But we'd paid for it. I also got my coffee in a smaller cup, but had to adjust the cup sleeve to make it fit - not entirely safe. You'd think you'd have the correct size available

My husband and I called in for a coffee and pastry, Tuesday about 11am. The tables were not cleared, dirty dishes and bits of food still on the tables. The seats were filthy, stained and not pleasant. I assume that it is a dog friendly cafe. One customer brought his dog in on a lead. He kept it under control, however we were sitting drinking our coffee when a dog came wandering over. No idea who it belonged to as it wasn’t on a lead. It wandered round the tables and then walked off. For the record the smell of dogs was disgusting in the shop. I don’t think animals of any description (except guide dogs) should be in any place where food is served. We certainly will not be using Cafe Nero again

I popped in for a coffee and was quietly sitting with my small dog on my lap. My dog was not barking or being disruptive in any way, in fact he was sleeping. A rude member of staff came over and said dogs should not be on the furniture. My small dog was not on any furniture but was sitting on my lap. Anyway I took the hint, finished my drink and left. I will not be back. Most definitely not dog friendly.

The overall cleanliness in Newtownards branch left slot to be desired the furnishings particularly the upholstery on alot of seats could do with refurbishing/ cleaning .

Excellent welcome - a new trainee barista went out of his way to be friendly despite the lunchtime rush. A great advertisement for the business .

I came here yesterday and got hot chocolate and a cheese and caramelized onion toastie. I must say the staff were so kind and hardworking and the food/drinks were amazing. My nan really enjoyed it, it was her first time visiting and she can't wait to go again. Thank you for such a positive experience!

Went for lunch, place was busy but staff were still friendly and nothing was a bother. Normally go in after work and am addicted to their almond croissants. Best coffee in Ards in my opinion. I've seen people put pics up of trays of cups sitting about, but tbf if the staff are busy and can't clear these right away, help them out and take your empty cups, etc up to them. They will greatly appreciate it, I know they are when I do. All the team are stars in my eyes. Colin and Garth are both legends.

Used to go with family now I wouldn't bring anyone near the place its stinking. Used to be greatest a lot of customers. Go to Bob and Berts a different experience . If your ever in a rush..you be late!

This place has really went downhill. It's filthy , uncleared tables a bad smell coming from it. Used to visit everyday now it's so disappointing I can't go there would not recommend it to anyone I would be embarrassed to bring anyone there

Relaxed and friendly. Always good coffee in Caffè Nero. I also really liked that customers are able to bring their dog

Staff are lovely and as friendly as can be but you can tell they’re over worked and tired, Each time I come in there is always piles of dishes with staff struggling against the customers constantly piling in. Its any wonder the place is a state if the higher ups have left it to struggle and be forgotten about. Tried to complain to who I assume is the manager about this however he seems to only spend 5 minutes a day serving customers and the rest “looking busy” so you would be lucky to catch him

Came in yesterday for a coffee in the freezing cold the drink was lovely and the staff behind the counter but some guy there "I have reason to believe he is a manager" who made the place stink really bad. I was sitting down with my dog and even my dog noticed the smell of Body Odor from this man. He looks really unprofessional and seemed to have a massive attitude. So i decided to sit outside mind you just to escape from this person and his disgusting smell.

The coffee/mocha was good as was the brownie but the place lacked a bit of tlc. Dirty windows outside. Dirty windowsills inside. Tables need cleared quickly if you don't provide a station for customers to help out by returning their cups etc when finished. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. ****update**** passed while walking the dog a few nights ago. Pleased to announce staff were busy cleaning the place. Windows spotless inside and out and the grime on the interior window sill/cill was now gone. Do the people that matter really read these reviews and react....im saying they do....well done. Keep up the good work.

Could be a happier and cleaner place, but Alfie loves it and the coffee is always great.

We popped in yesterday for coffee and a cake and I was astounded at how filthy the cafe was! With three staff members behind the counter, and only my husband waiting to be served, I had to clear and clean a table before we could sit down, also pick through and wipe cutlery, before we could use it. The glass front of the cake display on both the inside and outside was disgusting and needed a good clean, and the cake tasted like it had been sat there since Christmas Eve! Although there were a few customers in the shop, there was plenty of opportunity for the staff to be clearing up and at least attempting to make the place look clean and inviting. I frequent the Belfast Gt Victoria Street branch daily and have never experienced the low level of hygiene experienced yesterday in Newtownards.

Hot chocolate never hot enough, the new seasonal stuff far too sweet. The big blonde who works there has an attitude n the paninies often not heated up enough too.

Although the staff were very pleasant my cheese and tomato toastie was luke warm...which I'm sure they would have heated up for me again but the cafe was manically busy. Also .. word of warning to those who are intolerant to cheese the breakfast panni that my partner ordered has a cheese spread on it ...also a poor amount of bacon and egg . Disappointing really but I did enjoy my chai latte.

Almost every Nero is physically almost just like the last you've visited, but the upside is that also applies to the consistency of the coffee. Don't be afraid to ask if the pastries are 'fresh today'. After all, you're not paying yesterday's prices, right? 😬

Shocking, freezing cold, panini was half empty and people walking round talking to other people with no masks on and no social distancing, will not be back.

I would give the staff and the layout 5 stars, unfortunately I can't because they are letting customers in who dont hand sanitize and one customer was leaning on the counter which staff didn't clean after he moved on. There is a new normal and unfortunately too many people who don't want to look out for everyone else, we all need to pause and think now rather than just doing what we always did before

A great spot in the centre of the bustling town of Newtownards. Friendly staff, good coffee and the best location for a coffee shop. Right on the town square. There's even books you can read once you switch off all electronic devices!

This is my family's go to every Saturday for a coffee and cake.. Very warm and relaxing atmosphere, staff are always friendly and helpful.

The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. The guys were efficient in taking and presenting great drinks.

Great for a quick nip in and out in between the interchange between bus, coach or train. Useful for buses around the city centre and walking distance to city centre too.

Have to say , i dont go anywhere else for my daily caffeine hit when im in Newtownards... The flat whites are to die for, the freshly cooked pastries are irresistable, and the team are just great fun! Brightens up my morning no end!

The Coffee is great and the staff are helpful and friendly but as for the shop itself very grubby, floor is nearly always dirty and the armchairs are tatty and need recovered, it seems none of the money they are taking is going back into the shop! If it's friendliness you are after then go here but do not enter if you like your shops clean!

Having visited a number of chain coffee shops before I didn't hold high expectations for the coffee here - I was wrong! Both coffees I ordered tasted good and were well-balanced. The two staff members were efficient but I must comment that, despite their friendly nature, they were highly unprofessional as one was eating crisps and swearing and the other was laughing along with little regard for good customer service. I would revisit, however, on the strength of the coffees.
