JR's Diner in Havant

In a good location. This cafe is OK for a quick cup of coffee and a simple bite to eat nothing more. Very average but it does have outside seating which is the only bonus.

We were staying at Warner Lakeside but wanted a light bite for lunch. We tried JR's and went back again the next day. The jacket potatoes were really good, and so were the bacon sandwiches! The ice cream was delicious and the owner was friendly and charming. Excellent, simple food at very reasonable prices.

We were on a day trip with our dog so needed a dog friendly establishment. We ordered 2 All Day breakfasts and got what we paid for. No it's not a la carte dining but it was edible and enjoyable. We found the chap who served us to be very attentive. He came back to the table several times to check all was well and the icing on the cake, as far as we were concerned, was when he came out with a chopped up sausage for the dog (having asked first). I thought this was a nice touch. I've only just read the past reviews and wonder if they were making more of an effort as we were more than happy with the food and service.

Hello, I’m not one to usually write negative reviews but this diner is disgusting. My friend and I made the mistake of visiting as one of the local pubs kitchen was closed that day and were not aware of two amazing cafes down the road in Hayling. Ollie’s Coffee & Ruby’s Tearoom. The resturant was dirty and disgusting, muck and dirt everywhere. No prices or menu. Told ‘can cook whatever you want’. Can see that kitchen is dirty from front counter with staff not using correct safety clothing. Ordered two breakfasts and coffees. Coffees came in a dirty mug, with dirty tables - cafe resembled that of a child’s canteen looked like a school dinner. Food service was quick and friendly. As this happened I was Googling JR’s Diner to find a menu, and instead found the reviews and most importantly the health rating which isn’t in the window! Pretty sure that’s the law! It was a 1 star. I would give it 0. The food was not nice and put me off so much I only ate my tomato and beans. I felt sick. My friend was so hungry he ate all his, but got diarrhoea and felt unwell the next day. It was £18 and the card machine was broken… giving us a sign. Couldn’t wait to leave. Luckily the saving grace of our day after being shaken up was Ollie’s Coffee down the road a lovely cafe with amazing smoothies, coffee and frappes! Please avoid this diner at all costs and go to Ruby’s for amazing breakfasts & lunches & smoothies. Or Ollie’s for amazing milkshakes, smoothies, coffee and light bites! Really hope this place can improve and get to 5 stars health rating or else be shut down. Wish I’d seen these reviews and the rating before entering. Thanks.

I’m really sorry to make a negative review but I felt I had to with this place. I wish I had gone with my gut instinct and walked away or read the reviews. We came for a family breakfast and I had the veggie breakfast which was mushrooms tomatoes baked beans and hash brown and I had a slice of bread and butter but I literally ate the tomatoes and hash brown I took a bite of the bread and whatever spread was on it was just cheap and horrible in taste and I’m no snob I love a proper good cafe but this place was just horrible. My husbands breakfast looked rotten I don’t no how he ate it but he said after he wish he hasn’t. My daughter was happy with egg and beans but that’s about it. The please needs a really good clean and it needs organising as there’s bits and bobs all over the place and maybe look into getting a different cook because it was dire! We definitely won’t be back and we definitely wouldn’t recommend and I no this place has been there a while but I honestly can’t understand how because it’s just awful.

The toilets are disgusting, no toilet roll, dirty towel to dry to hands with, the venue itself doesn’t look clean in the slightest. I don’t know how it has past health and safety. I’m glad I only came in for a bottle of water and nothing else.

Got to be the worse greasy cafe I have ever had the privilege to visit. Place was freezing, didn’t look clean. Had a big duke breakfast each, the only thing big about it was the puddle of water and grease in the bottom of the bowl it came in, did wonder why it wasn’t on a plate. Sausages were disgusting, bacon looked past its sell by date and tiny egg was over cooked. Was charged £18.00 for the food. Total disgrace, avoid this place like the plague. Wouldn’t recommend it to my worse enemy!!!!!

The nicoteen stained fingers on the man behind the counter should have set the alarm bells ringing, as should the cloudy vinegar on the table aswell as the border collie dog sat by an adjacent table, but no, we ordered regardless and sadly the nicoteen stained fingers would have tasted better.The wife's jacket potato would have knocked out tyson fury and the accompanying salad must have been hide and seek champion of the world as its still nowhere to be seen.

What a lovely experience, starting off my birthday celebrations with a slap-up breakfast. We had a lovely welcome from John and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The service was excellent and the breakfast was absolutely superb; far better than we had had recently in a five start hotel; beautifully cooked, hot and really tasty. Some recent reviews seem to be unfavourable but, please be reassured, John has brought this place back to perfection. Also, the other people dining alongside us were really pleasant too so a very nice experience all round. Very highly recommended. Thanks and see you soon.

This business may have changed hands as it is now called Sea Breeze Cafe. I visited at lunchtime during half-term and it was about half full. However the two young men running it appeared to have a lot of trouble in keeping up with orders. I ordered a simple breakfast but it took over 40 minutes to arrive.The food seemed to be of the cheapest quality, catering sausage, fatty bacon, beans and bread. It was very cheap but that is not the point. I would rather pay more for for better service and better food.The cafe reminded me of what it used to be like eating out in Britain 40 years ago - pretty grim.

I visited the Jr diner on Wednesday 30th October at 8:30 I was staying in a campsite locally with my two young children and needed breakfast !It was absolutely brilliant the man serving who was also cooking was great very friendly, welcoming professional and knew exactly what he had and was very welcoming to the kids which means a lot !!The breakfast came and was excellent and most importantly and sadly rarely hot which is great ! Iit was tasty and great value too ! The place was clean and tidy and fresh !!! I write this as I am the head chef in a restaurant and people are quick to write bad ones and I am very rarely impressed and also I’m hyper critical when it comes to food so take a bow Jr’s it’s brilliant

Went here with a friend for breakfast & we were pleasantly surprised at the improvements made here. Great breakfast, excellent friendly customer service throughout & clean. This American diner style cafe is not the ritz but it has more friendliness going on than most places I know especially if you were on your own. will certainly be back.

uS themed brought me back to NYC Tads in 1960s,friendly staff and discounts for students and cinema patrons!They removed the Juke box but atone by wonderful outdoor seating by myriad speed boats and yachts!

Had breakfast there enjoyable. However this is not really a food report. John the owner is such a kind man and went the extra mile when I had an accident outside his cafe.

Don't get me wrong - it's a little cafe by the beach so not gourmet standard. But I would have thought that they could make a good toasted sandwich. No. Bread wasn't properly toasted, and although it was thick with cheese inside, it wasn't very tasty. Mugs of tea were good though. Don't expect too much.

This place is ideal if your on a budget ,cake ,scone,or sausage roll with a tea or coffee is only £2.00.two scoops of ice cream in a glass bowl was £1.50p cannot fault the service very down to earth friendly place, no rushing off feeling relax and watch the day go by.Nice and clean place best price place on Hayling sea front very close.wheel chair friendly ,if you want to save your holiday money this place will not be a expensive stop.

Filthy, dirty place. Watched staff member prepare a salad for me, didn't wash his hands or any of the salad, ate a few mouthfuls of cheese and some beetroot, a couple of pieces of tomato, too scared to eat anything else. My cappuchino had no coffee in it, one sip and drank no more. Son had sausage and chips, basic, only ate a bit. Now keeping fingers crossed that neither of us start throwing up later due to the disgusting state of the place and filthy food preparation.

Called in at this place as i did many years ago . When it was calls breakwater cafe which done the best breakfast ever. Now omg certainly gone down hill. Wont be returning

Poorly run, initially overcharged, kitchen has no ticket order system. You may think based on the number given you be next but be prepared to wait as they can’t handle any more than 2 orders being placed at once or orders come out all over the place.

We travelled to Hayling Island on a ride around looked for a Cafe and came upon JR's. On entering I was a bit apprehensive about the Cafe , but I soon had a different opinion of the place after the food arrived . I ordered a bacon roll and a cheese and tomato sandwich and two teas , when they arrived I was asked "would two rolls be OK instead of a large one " I replied "yes ". The food was very good ,the cheese in the sandwich was over flowing and my bacon rolls were really nice . Never judge a book by the cover as our meal was as good as you can get any where for the money .As for other people saying it was dirty is not true , I had a good look around whilst waiting for our food .Give it a try .

Never been here before but just had a perfect breakfast. Nicely cooked, perfect amount and the best fried bread ever. Staff were very friendly too, would definitely come here again if in the area.

I have actually never written a review of a restaraunt before but my family's experience at this Diner was so terrible today I had to come online to see what other's have written.

Went in for an afternoon snack. Cheerful and helpful staff. Tremendous range of food available on the menu. Decor and furniture functional, but not spotless. Cutlery needs updating and, essentially, needs to be spotlessly clean. The ham and tomato toastie, was a ham and tomato sandwich made with toast. I had the all day breakfast which was generally very good, and served promptly. The mug of tea was a bit bland. The whole experience was very inexpensive. It fills a niche in an otherwise pretentious and expensive market at Hayling Island.

On a positive note, the breakfast wasn't bad, although after trying to find some clean cutlery, you do lose your appetite. The tables were clean but the chairs were full of crumbs. As mentioned on other reviews, the staff could definitely benefit from some customer service training - when we asked for some ketchup we were told "it's behind you". The sauce bottles could do with a good clean, as well as the windows.

Stopped in here while visiting the island decent breakfast and a proper mug of tea. Staff were a good laugh. This is a proper old fashioned cafe nothing more and doesn't pretend to be any thing else. Will definitely visit again

We wanted a cup of tea and a quick bite to eat and saw this as we drove past. Sandwiches and drinks were OK, nothing special, but was fine for us.

Not looking for anything fancy ? ... tea and egg on toast with a few mates then this might be for you but it is basic dining at its extreme; It all felt a bit, well, tacky. Service was good and food plenty acceptable for the price but given its prime location on the seafront then 'could do better' has to be the verdict. It seems to be popular among some locals and outside seating is pleasant so yes we would go again for a cuppa or fry up but that's not much of a recommendation.

Terrible quality food. Horrid chicken nuggets, if they had any chicken in that is and beans so dry and horrible probably been cooking for a week. Microwaved pies and an all round neglect for food of any quality and cooked even worse. Not all that cheap and certainly not cheerful. No way of drying hands in toilets.

We only brought coffee to take away but from the moment we walked in you could tell it was a friendly atmosphere and the staff were very attentive, and the selection of food and beverages was fantastic. We will visit again.

Seen the bad reviews but we still popped in for a snack, had toasties and sandwiches and found them good and tasty. This place is just a typical cafe, nothing flash but fine for a quick snack.

Never again !! Got to be the worst diner/fish and chip shop in Hayling Island.Served by, what looked like guys off a building site, and as for the food well, we ordered fish and chips and a chicken burger with chips.......what we got was tasteless, but looked like a piece of frozen fish deep fried till soggy, the chips too were tasteless, but left a sort of taste in your mouth of bad oil.The Chicken burger was the same Tasteless and soggy !Been to a few chip shops in my time......Never this bad.

Went for lunch in March, but title of review says it all. Had a quite nice burger and a cheese sandwich with nothing green on it. Coffee in mugs was ok. Had to fetch our cutlery.

Great for sausage, egg, chips, bacon, beans, even an omelette and a nice cup of tea. Great value! A blast from 1956!

This the place to go for your no frills fry up...it's what we use to call a builders cafe in the old days. Great cuppa, good service and a hearty breakfast.

Tea and coffee by the mug if required, good sized meals at average prices. They do stop cooked meals around 2.30 pm (that's why lower rate) though. Amenities clean, decor different, staff very accomodating. Good for snacks.

Thought we would pop in here for lunch yesterday (31/8/16) as menu looked nice and seemed to be a fair few people in there. Well, never again. I have NEVER written a negative review on her before, but feel so strongly about this that here I am.........Customer service was awful, bordering on rude. First item I ordered was a jacket potato with cheese. Only to be informed they have run out of cheese. Um, really!? Ok. Should have run out then. Ended up with a reasonable ham sandwich, reasonable plate of fish, chips and mushy peas. Which is where the word reasonable ended. Chicken nuggets for my daughter weren't hot, just about warm. Sent them back, returned plate 5 minutes later..... 1st nugget my daughter broke open, hot and steaming.......next one actually almost FROZEN still in the middle. Hello, food poisoning anyone?! I took them back again and got shrugged at. Man who was serving had nothing better than a shrug and the woman in the kitchen came and joined in the shrugging and excuses. On top of this, the cheeseburger I ordered was served lukewarm, which rather stupidly, I was just going to leave, rather than make a fuss. Cook informed me it was fine, as they use probes to check temperatures!!!!!!I'm afraid the return of undercooked almost raw chicken nuggets served to my 9 year old daughter rather tipped me over the edge and I demanded my money back for those 2 meals. Should have got the log back I feel in hindsight, all things considered. Oh, and having being told they had no cheese when I ordered the aforementioned jacket potato, my undercooked burger came with a heap of grated cheese on it! So, awful service, shrugs, lies and excuses for the appalling food which was a serious food poisoning risk and a half refund. Do not visit here. Disgusted by the experience and I am generally easy going and never complain. My husband and i worked in catering for many years and it amazes us that this place hasn't been shut down. Unless we just hit them on a very bad day, in which case this review should serve as a wake up call.

We went to this restaurant for a lunchtime meal. Bit disappointed that they didn't accept credit cards. The food was satisfactory, we had burgers and chips, the chips were tasty. We had coffee and fizzy pop. The service was good. Staff were pleasant, food came quickly.

Popped in for lunch today. Some of the reviews are quite critical, but the place is what it is. A seafront cafe with a reasonably broad menu. Formica tables and plastic chairs. Very cheerful service. Apologetic for the delay (20 minutes, nothing really on a bank holiday) and because all fish had gone apart from fish fingers!Food arrived hot. Place was reasonably clean, apart from some residue on the floor. Hardly life threatening. Toilets were out of use but there were public loos 10 paces away.I've paid twice as much in A pub for food half as good.

We visited the diner after travelling down to Hayling for a refreshing walk on the beach. We decided to stop for a cup of tea and something to eat. The range of available food was limited as the fryer had been switched off (it was lunchtime) so we just had a tea. The tea was very milky and looked stewed. When my husband picked his mug up the bottom of it looked really dirty as if it had not been cleaned. I couldn't drink my tea and just wanted to leave... Would not go there again.

I visited here and will not be visiting again. The place isn't clean for a start but only really noticeable once seated, the cutlery isn't clean either. Dont get me started on the bathroom which has the toilet seat placed next to the toilet. Its cleaner not to wash your hands by looking at the taps. We were kept waiting for a good while when trying to order as the person taking orders was busy sorting out his notepad.£17 for 3 small breakfasts and 3 hot drinks is what I would expect to pay for a really good breakfast but the sausages were white and very cheap, the same goes for the bacon. Egg and beans were ok. The lady serving the food was very friendly and made up for customer service lacking at front of house. We wouldn't visit again.

Chairs not clean, baby Hi Chair (not used by us but near our table) grubby and dirty, would not be surprised if Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in it. Food was ..........well just awful, we had an egg and chips type meal as hungry and first place we came to, chips were of a type they serve in Guantanamo bay until the prisoners start to talk! When we left we almost ran to cafe just across the road that had clean chairs and a welcoming young staff and had strong coffee in an attempt to burn away the taste of the chips we had just eaten, however it was several hours later before we were able to achieve this effect, I would rather throw myself out of a plane without a parachute than ever to return there.

Popped in here wasn't sure what to expect as reviews had initially put me of going here, the lady behind the desk was cheery and helpful, she varied the breakfast even though the sign says they don't change it, the coffee was a choice of filter or instant, I had instant she even asked if it was ok for me or if I wanted it stronger, I had a cooked breakfast which was nicely cooked, lovely fresh eggs, not greasy, I guess it must be the time of day visiting which causes the negative comments, as it was quiet when I went, the tables were clean and so was the cutlery. I will return as my breakfast was very nice.

Stoped for lunch here. The food was cheap and plentiful. We had cheese and ham toasties that were packed full of cheese and ham and a delious omelette. Food was quick and the staff were friendly.

Tried to manage my expectations before going in here....that didn't work. Filthy cutlery, dirty chairs and tables. Yucky coffee and then theres the food!!!Both our orders were wrong...didn't bother complaining.The cheapest quality breakfast you could possible imagine.....to call the sausage a 'sausage' would be an insult to a pig.Someone at the table described the food as 'pig's vomit' which I think is not unfair.Avoid at all costs.One saving grace, the guy running it seemed friendly.But an experience never to be repeated.

Not the best breakfast on the island could be better mine was cold when served .The toast was soft and under done won't be eating there again.

Stopped at lunch time and ordered paninis from the menu. The person serving did not know what Cranberry was. We had ordered bacon, brie and cranberry filling.( from the menu) When the food arrived they were filled with bacon, brie and stawberry jam.They were greasey. I would not recommend. Pasty and chips looked ok on another table.

Horrible service - had nothing to serve even being several hours to closing time.Did not get what we asked for and what we got didn't taste anything - I feel pure water has more of a flavor than what this place can offer. Don't order a coffee unless you like brown, warm water which it essentially is at this place.Owner was abrupt, unkempt and rather unpleasant, and I later found out he nicked a few extra pounds off, giving less change in return.

If you would like a greasy breakfast then this would be a decent option. However we stopped for lunch and were disappointed.The quality of the food was poor: fish and chips weren't proper fish and chips, thin sloppy batter, sausage were poor quality and bacon baguette was too small.I may be being too harsh because it was very cheap but even so i do not think i would go back.

called in during morning for coffee and scones.,one of our party ordered something different.scones came out - worst i have ever tasted.and the other item never arrived at all.had money back for that item,took the scones back to feed the ducks, even they wouldnt eat them.!!!!!!!

Why do people go into what is clearly a budget greasy spoon cafe and then slag it off for being precisely what it says it is on the tin. Good breakfast, Good service = Good value.

Looking at the other comments I find it really hard to believe that anyone on this planet would describe this place as excellent! Got to be the owners trying to raise the score? We went to this place because the chip shop down the road was closed. We really should have followed our first instincts and walked out as soon as we smelled the over powering blend of nicotine and grease, but we were in holiday mood, and soldiered on ordering takeaway fish and chips. The fish was ready battered straight form the freezer and when we finally sat on the beach to savour this delicacy the centre was still nicely frozen. But who, on a boiling hot day, would turn their nose up at a fish lolly covered in slimy defrosted batter with a thin and crispy slightly burnt outer crust? The chips wallowed in half a pint of grease, counting their lucky stars that at least they were cooked unlike their fishy friend. I promise you, we were too embarrassed to offer this meal to the gulls who sat laughingly on the breakwater next to us.In hindsight, maybe we should have chosen the ham or quiche salad that sat warming themselves on the counter top.We'll be back!

found this place by accident yesterday ... it was a lovely little café , very friendly workers .. loads to choose from on the menu .. very reasonably priced to £4.40 for burger, chips and can of drink !! .. was lovely to sit there to watch the world go by , would deffo do back again

Its a cheap place to eat, and if your daring you may want to risk it. The food is all the cheapest that they can buy and everything seems to be cooked in a deep fat fryer. Coffee was not nice and seemed to be cheap instant stuff!Staff were less than polite and were too busy having a fag in the entrance rather than "serving" t he few customers they had. I think in future I will take my custom elsewhere

Got served mouldy bread. Manky sauce bottles, does not take much to wipe these off. Just a filthy place, would rather go hungry than eat here.

i really cannot get my head around the negative comments on here we live in guildford and have a holiday home on hayling island, my family has always eaten in this cafe for the last few years and i really wouldnt eat anywhere else staff have always been polite and friendly and food always hot and tasty i would just say to people reading the negative comments below to make your own mind up visit and eat and see what you think as i cannot find fault x

Chips were yellow as if the fat hadn't been changed and my 'cod' was cold and undercooked in the middle. My stomach is still tasting this 4 hrs later and not in a good way...

Read some off the comments I visited it staff were very friendly it was a Saturday young couple running it food was quick and was worth the money it's a cafe staff are bound to get food down them when cooking I thought it was a lovely friendly cafe cheap and cheerful and open well early

Stayed in hayling with family we went to have lunch at this disaster of a cafe, staff were rude absolutely discusting! There general look was dirty clothes dirty and the guy serving stunk of BO! My partner and I ordered two drinks and two bacon sandwiches, this order was given to the chef himself. We went and sat in the dining room. People came and went, people who came in after us were served, but no food.We sat at this table for a while the staff were in and out of the dining room with other peoples food. Not once did they ask if we were ok, or waiting for food. On asking the cook for our money back, he said he had forgotten our order.The coffee is atrocious.....cheap coffee.Will never go there again or recommend it to anyone else.

Was going to have our breakfast there but when we arrived it was a nice day so thought we would sit outside the tables was all greasy the staff didn't look very clean we walked of disgusting

Well what can I say excellent for good old full English breakfast plus lots of other food on the menu really impressed traditional English cafe right on the beach perfect for holiday makers opens really early so ideal :)

Tomatoes, beans and egg were cold. Bacon was hot but burnt in patches. Tomato and bean juice running over the edges of the plate. The guy taking the orders and delivering the 'food' had a black hooded on which looked like it had 3 days worth of food stains on it. The coffee mug had dried coffee stains down the outside - probably NOT from my coffee. At nearly £8 (demanded at time of ordering or else I would not have paid) it wasn't even the cheapest I've ever had. How places like this stay open in this day and age baffles me.

I live on hayling island and have done for thirty years. I always try to favour the local independent businesses where I can. With this in mind I made the terrible decision to go to JR'S. No toilets was the first problem, we have a 3 yr old so when he says he needs the toilet walking down the road to the public bogs isnt an option. Next the tea and coffees came out, worst coffee I have ever tasted and it was cold. The breakfast was then the cherry on top. Easily the worst value and worst quality breakfast I've ever eaten. No one minds sitting on plastic chairs and tables in a greasy spoon if you get a decent breakfast. This was abysmal.Avoid at all costs.

First i odered two breakfasts,,i thought then asked for the toilet to which an arm pointed across the road to the public toilets, sureley they j rs must have one. Then came the food cold plates cold food i had bought next door a pastic tortoise which would have tasted better how on earth are they allowed to carry on in this way. from alien food taster

what a dump food served on cold plates this mached the temp in the cafe tined toms and the susages i don't think you can call them that staff outside having a fag don't go there is my advice

Fancied a snack while visiting hayling, partner had cheesy chip's, could be better described as greasy chips (under cooked swimming in fat,the chips were so bad she spent the whole night throwing up ..will never go back again

Sad to see some of the bad comments here. I travel to Hayling a couple of times a year and have done so for many years. There have been a great many changes during that time not all for the best but it's nice to see that there is still a traditional sea front café like JR's. We always call here for breakfast. Nice staff, good food, and value for money. Looking forward to our next visit. I would suggest that if JR's is not right for you then neither is Hayling so please go and whinge somewhere else!

This place is far from clean, the food is far from nice, cheap bread, cheap ketchup (tesco value), dead flys on window ledge, dirty floor.... I know the saying greasy spoon but please.... My advice go to BEACHLANDS

I havered between a rating of three or four stars, but I plumped for four on two counts. One was the really tasty cheese toastie I had on our first visit, and the second was the way the server spotted that the customer ahead of me had a lame leg, picked up his drinks and took them to his table without any prompting. A simple considerate act by a nice person. My son and I popped into the diner twice during our holiday in Hayling. It's very basic, but clean, and the breakfasts we had were plainly but tastily cooked. And I got change out of a tenner, so value for money. I'd certainly visit again next time we go to the Island.

Never have we been served by such a miserable so and so. Why does someone like that work in an a job that involves working with the public?We had breakfast to which there are set breakfasts which cannot be amended? Wierd as i dont like eggs but still had to have it !!!!Food no better than average but it was a tiny breakfast Would never go back in there againI cant stand bad manners a thank you and a smile cost nothing

Words cannot describe this hovel. Stayed with friends on the island, made the mistake of trying this dump for breakfast. I would have had better value and a far better gastronomic experience if I had set fire to my money and eaten a dog turd off the footpath. Even the coffee was awful. This place clearly rely on tourist trade with no repeat custom.

The diner is in a lovely place for a quick meal, or in our case, breakfast, on a beautiful very warm Sunday morning.The "Full English" breakfast was not so good. For the price, you had to choose between beans or tomotoes (sic). The bacon was hard, one of the eggs had solid cooked bubbled yolk and the sausages were mostly bread. We asked for brown toast but got white. The worst thing was that I had to pick out the cutlery for 4 people and that was not easy as it was very smeary. I had to ask for paper napkins.You can double the bacon and sausage for another £1 and actually have chips with your breakfast for not much more! The toast comes ready "buttered" for you. The coffees were not too bad. I don't think that we'd go again, though with the diner being in the position that it is, trade was extremely brisk and you can eat there all day long. It's in a splendid position at Eastoke Corner and the only opposition is the fish and chip shop and restaurant nearby. I suppose it's traditional seaside food - just what the public wants.

visited jrs diner over bank holiday they open really early so that was a bonus breakfast was good we had the dukes well worth the money wouldn't say to expensive friendly staff who supplied us with news papers while we waited for our food very talkative made us feel welcomed I would recommend they open from 5 so if ur a early person perfect place to go

Wished I had read the reviews before making the unfortunate decision to eat here...and it wasn't inexpensive either! One sip of coffee and no more. I can't believe that coffee is served this way in this day and age, cheap powdered coffee without any flavour. The sausage in the breakfast was appalling and so on and so forth. Wish to forget the experience.

I've been here twice (at the start of previous fishing trips) and the full breakfast has been a great start to the day. I have just tried to ring them (7pm Easter Sunday) and had no response which is what I actually expected.As I want to make sure we DO get a breakfast tomorrow morning at 6.15am (21.04.14), I thought I would have a look on the web and see if there are any other cafes open at that time - and came across this blog...!Well, OK, its not salubrious, but if you don't want basic, down to earth good English breakfast, take your miserable selves elsewhere. Life is hard enough as it is and at least JR's is open bright, fresh and happy at 6am in the morning. Go and wake up some of the other owners and then you'll no doubt see how much they care about you!!Well done JR and keep up the good work. However, like always, do listen to what people say because no doubt some have 'some' truth to them and a little 'pull up' occassionally does us all good.Look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning - there's 11 of us coming and we're all going to be hungry.....!!Regards, SB, Bedford.

We were taken here by our son and daughter-in-law with their children for a family lunch.What a mistake. The food took forever to arrive and each meal was cooked (overcooked) separately.The fish was boiling hot and tasted awful. The brie and bacon baguette was too strong tasting.The child's meal was far too big.The only reasonable meal was the bacon butty.The service was abysmally slow.We certainly won't go back.

Very good food. Excellent value for money. The hot chocolate is the best. the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again.

Had a lovely breakfast me and family staff are very friendly would defo recommend the Jrs big breakfast after eating that your full for day

We went here for dinner never again the place was filthy vinegar bottle sticky with bits floating inside, tesco value sauces, watery tea, cheap beef burger & undercooked chips dirty table & chairs why we ever went in I will never know

We had breakfast here and it was not bad at all. The staff were not exactly little rays of sunshine but the food was hot and tasty and served quickly. We were put off by previous reviews but we got a satisfactory breakfast though we cannot recommend the coffee.

Visited this diner for a coffee and took advantage of their £2.00 coffee/tea and a cake promotion.The coffee was okay (decaf instant) but the cake was well stale. I took it back and complained and asked for a cookie instead.I was told the cake was fresh yesterday - hmmm! The cookie was worse and had to discreetly spit it into a serviette. I didn't eat their cooked offerings so can't comment on that, but I shan't be visiting again.

My daughter and I visited this diner as we had heard it was good. There is absolutely nothing to commend it,particularly the lack of service. We were in there a good 20 minutes and saw no-one coming to serve us so we left and certainly won't be back.

Went here with friends who stayed with us for the weekend as we live on Hayling.We all had a cooked breakfast which had one sausage,one rasher of bacon,egg and a scoop of watery beans.The products were all cheap value items including the condiments on the table,just awful! If you are a coffee lover do not go here as it is also the value brand.This was not a cheap breakfast either! do not go!!
