In a new (ish) development close to Liverpool Street station, with links to a big name chef - this is much as you would expect. The tapas were decent (we thought), and have the big advantage of allowing you to order as much as you want, then go back for additional different things later. Expensive. Friendly/helpful waiter

I can see there are plenty of mixed reviews here but my personal experience was good. I'm no tapas aficionado but what I did have was very nice in the main. The omelette was good and the prawn fritters were very nice. we also had some mushroom croquets that were super tasty. The patatas bravas were a little disappointing, pretty tasteless and didn't look particularly authentic. Service was great and the setting is pretty decent. All in all would happily go back. If I could of gone somewhere between 3 and 4 stars I would have on the TripAdvisor scale.

José Pizarro, known for its celebrated Spanish cuisine and tapas-style dining, had been on my must-visit list for a while. As someone who loves the idea of sharing food and savoring different flavors, I was excited to experience the offerings of a restaurant led by such a renowned chef. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite underwhelming, with the food falling short of expectations in both flavor and presentation. The evening started with a simple yet promising dish—pan y tomate, which I paired with marinated anchovies. This combination was by far the highlight of the meal, with the fresh, tangy tomato on crusty bread complementing the salty, umami-rich anchovies perfectly. It was a good start, but unfortunately, it was the peak of the culinary experience. The croquetas and prawn fritters, which I was particularly looking forward to, were disappointing. The croquetas were bland, lacking the rich, creamy texture and flavor they are known for. The prawn fritters were even worse, as they were soggy and greasy, leaving a strong impression that the oil used for frying was past its prime. It was a greasy mishap that overshadowed any potential these dishes had. The tuna tartare with avocado, another dish I had high hopes for, was a letdown. The balance of flavors was completely off, with the avocado and lime dominating the dish, turning what should have been a delicate tuna tartare into something more akin to a ceviche. The tuna, over-marinated and lacking its natural flavor, was nearly lost amidst the other ingredients. The tortilla, a classic Spanish dish, was mediocre at best. It was served with an aioli that was supposed to elevate the dish, but the sauce was overpoweringly oily and lacked the essential garlic flavor that makes aioli so delightful. It was a stark reminder that even simple dishes can fall flat without attention to detail. Being a fan of José Pizarro’s work, especially his Basque cuisine book, I couldn’t resist ordering the torta de queso (cheesecake) for dessert. Sadly, this too was a disappointment. The cheesecake was dry and stale, lacking the creamy richness I had hoped for. It was a sad end to a meal that had already been a series of culinary missteps. Overall, my experience at José Pizarro was underwhelming. The few bright spots couldn’t make up for the many disappointments, and the lack of flavor and care in the dishes was surprising for such a highly regarded restaurant. Based on this visit, I can only give the experience a 6/10. I hope that my next encounter with José Pizarro’s cuisine will live up to the high expectations set by his reputation and previous works.

Absolutely horrendous experience. Zero authenticity and very bad food quality adn taste, rude waiter, poor service. Inedible tomato salad was brought out with stale milled pepper and later denied by rude waiter. Other waiter did not have initiative to do his job but did have the nerve to ask personal questions. Strange adaptations of ‘tapas’, never before seen seen in Spain. Pan con tomate made with tinned tomato instead of fresh.

We came here for a celebration meal as a birthday after work and made the mistake of not realising that city workers use the area for their post work drinks. It is very noisy including the restaurant itself which makes you shout to hear yourself talk. Service was good and we were well looked after. Tapas came quickly and was well cooked. Of course they are small plates but the portions for the cost were on the smaller side. Expensive for the small baked cheesecake. A mixed experience and maybe best to come when it is quieter.

I booked this restaurant as I saw Jose on TV. He seemed passionate about food and as the TV presenter was raving about his dishes I thought that it would be worth a visit. The food that we had was acceptable, but I have cooked better myself. There were a few reasons why this restaurant was not good, the key one was probably the staff. They did not seem motivated to give a high level of service. When I went in went in, I hung up my coat as no one made any move to do this for me. The staff did not walk the room to see if we needed our wine topped up, if we were enjoying our meal or if wanted anything else from the menu. My husband and I order starters to share and a main course each and I distinctly remember discussing with the waiter how I’d like my pork cooked. After waiting quite some time, and long after my husband had finished his food, I got up and asked the manger where my meal was. I would have thought, that at this point, the manager would have tried to recover the situation, but instead he sent the waiter over to say I didn’t order it in the first place. It would have been so easy for the staff to give us a good experience. I suspect they were either poorly trained or they just didn’t care. In the end they did offer to cook the pork but by that time I just wanted to leave. We were not looking for anything special, just well cooked, simple food. Unfortunately I fell for the TV hype. I wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t go back.

We came here on an unplanned visit as we were in the area but we've had heard about the place. The food was nice. The highlight for me was the pluma ibérica, great fatty meat that melts in your mouth. The octopus was good but, coming from Spain, I prefer it with potatoes. The mash was a bit too liquid and, not my favourite. The croquetas of the day were spinach and blue cheese... They were great! Patatas bravas were nice but, perhaps not bravas enough as in not too hot. The service was great though. We didn't have a booked table and they located us on a tall table at the beginning ( very busy lunch time). When I asked, they rearranged it so they gave us a normal table, much more comfortable and they moved everything for us. They were brilliant. The churros were nice but, not brilliant. The wine, I would like a bit more variety of less expensive wines. Overall pretty nice.

The very basic Pan Tomates is so simple you wonder how they make it taste so good! The service is so friendly they don’t know how to say no! We were honoured to meet Jose himself and a really self-effacing guy he is. We walked around Bermondsey Street for the first time and there’s loads of eateries, but Jose’s is the best! We’ve eaten in many many tapas bars both in the UK & Spain but not one is as good as Jose’s. A bit disappointed with this Pizarro branch. Dined on a Thursday evening and the place was unbelievably loud. The waiter had a packet of tobacco in his back pocket through the night and was checking his phone next to the tables he was waiting on. Food was okay but overpriced, £18 for 4 gambas al ajillo. My colleagues were raving about this place but honestly my experience was that it was just so-so. We had the tasting menu which had a range of tapas including croquetas, cheese, chorizo and various other bits that didn’t seem very Spanish (like bruschetta). It was all fine, nothing outstanding. The order in which the dishes came out was a bit strange with sourdough coming out right at the end (when everyone was already very full). All in all, not terrible but not somewhere I would choose to go if I wanted authentic Spanish tapas.

My husband and I went to Jose Pizarro for a nice Saturday brunch. What we got was a completely empty restaurant with super over priced food and terribly unprofessional staff (except for our waitress.) We got the £25 set menu and the croquettes were nice but microwaved, the baby potatoes were microwaved too and I was served one of the worst salads I’ve ever seen (unchopped lettuce with capers thrown on top), we almost thought it was a joke. On top of this the staff was loud, slow and looked bothered they had to work as we were the only ones there, mind you this was a Saturday at 11:30am. I literally can't remember the last time I wrote a review in which I couldn't find some small thing to criticise. However, our experience on Tuesday, 18/7/23, at José Pizarro was faultless. From the moment we arrived shortly after 12.00, till we left around 3pm, we couldn't stop commenting on how wonderful absolutely everything was. The Maitre D looked a bit anxious, when I told him our party of 4 hadn't booked, but said he'd squeeze us in, and gave us a lovely table by the open, sliding doors. It seemed a bit odd at the time, as it was virtually empty, however, it was totally full, including the outside tables, within about half an hour. Every single, other member of staff we dealt with was also absolutely charming, especially our main server, Alex, who apologised for being a bit slow taking our order, as she was relatively new, but in fact, was totally professional. She was also incredibly patient with taking photos of all of us, on all 4 of our phones. There was a fairly limited menu (which to me, is actually a good sign), but we had no trouble finding vegetarian dishes, as one of us was veggie. We all agreed the olives were the best we had ever tasted, and as each new dish was brought, we were swooning at how delicious they all were. Small details like good quality napkins, just added to our appreciation of the restaurant. Perhaps the best thing, though, was the fact that, including service, 6 tapas dishes, 3 desserts (shared between us), 4 teas or coffees, and one glass of wine (mine!) the bill only came to £102, which was incredibly good value for the location, let alone the stunning quality. We gave Alex an additional £10 tip, as we felt she deserved it, and we made a point of telling the Maitre D how impressed we were with every aspect of our meal. I have already told all my friends about it, and will definitely be back as soon as possible.

Broadgate Circle can get very busy, especially during a weekday evening. Like most of the food establishments here, expect a slightly less favourable experience compared to restaurants at quieter locations. During my latest visit we were passed by waiting staff several times, who neglected to look in our direction, forcing me to call out at increasingly elevated volumes to get attention. When we did come to place our order we discovered two of the items we wanted were no longer available, which would have been good to know when we were handed our menus. However, from the point that our mysterious invisibility cloak was lifted, the service was actually friendly and helpful. Mainstays, such as the jamon and the pickled anchovies, were great as usual, but other dishes fell a bit flat, especially the sourdough, which was cold and dense and the Basque cheesecake, which was slightly burnt. While the food was OK the bottle of José Pizarro rosé we ordered was very nice - it certainly helped to smooth out an otherwise rocky dinner.

Incredible food as always at a José Pizarro restaurant and this branch is no exception! The tapas selection was very comprehensive and each portion was beautifully presented. However, we felt that the atmosphere of this particular branch was a bit cold as opposed to the flagship on Bermondsey St. The overall environment was also quite loud but that’s mainly because of surrounding bars on Broadgate Circle so nothing that can be changed by the restaurant sadly. I still had to knock down one start though as I felt the service was also a bit rushed and sometimes hesitant which made the overall experience a little bit pushy (we ate 6-8 tapas and dessert in literally 45mins and felt like we were pushed to finish as soon as possible even though the restaurant was not full). Anyway, we had a good experience overall but will not probably return at this specific branch.

Fairly typical Spanish tapas restaurant. Unfortunately the menu is very expensive for what you get; I don't know if that is to do with the central London location though. The portions were smaller than local Spanish restaurants I go to but nearly double the price. Meat dishes in particular were very expensive. The menu was also relatively small in terms of choice. Drinks weren't as expensive by comparison. The decor inside was seemed a bit cold and bland and didn't create the warmest atmosphere. The mini burgers were easily the tastiest thing and I would highly recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a tapas restaurant in the Broadgate Liverpool Street area and let me tell you, it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and a palpable sense of hospitality, especially thanks to the amazing Jairo. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh boy, where do I even begin? The tapas selection at this place is a culinary dream come true. Their jamón ibérico was simply mouthwatering, with its rich, melt-in-your-mouth flavor that left me wanting more. It was the perfect start to our meal and set the bar high for what was to come. Next up, the ensaladilla rusa. I am typically not a fan of salads, but this one was like no other. Bursting with fresh and perfectly diced vegetables, it was both refreshing and satisfying. The combination of flavors and textures was simply divine, making it an instant favorite. But let's not forget about the croquetas de jamón ibérico. These little bites of heaven were incredibly creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Each bite was a burst of savory goodness, showcasing the high-quality jamón ibérico that was used. It's safe to say that I am now officially obsessed with these croquetas. Moving on to the octopus, it was cooked to absolute perfection. Tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right, it was a true testament to the skill and expertise of the chefs. The presentation was also top-notch, with each piece artfully arranged on the plate. It was a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds. Now, let's talk about the grand finale - the basque cheesecake. I have had cheesecakes from various places, but this one truly stood out. It was creamy, rich, and had the perfect balance of sweetness. The crust was perfectly crisp, adding a delightful contrast in texture. I could have easily devoured the entire cheesecake on my own, it was that good. Lastly, I want to express my utmost gratitude to Jairo for his exceptional hospitality. His warm smile and attentive service elevated the entire dining experience. It's rare to find a restaurant where the staff genuinely cares about their customers, and Jairo truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and attended to. Overall, I cannot recommend this tapas restaurant in Broadgate Liverpool Street enough. The food, the service, and the ambiance were all impeccable. So, if you find yourself in the area, make sure to try the jamón ibérico, ensaladilla rusa, croquetas de jamón ibérico, octopus, and the heavenly basque cheesecake. And don't forget to thank Jairo for adding that extra touch of excellence to your dining experience.

Being Spanish myself I have to say the pluma was exquisite, order medium raw as it’ll melt in your mouth. The Iberian ham croquettes were also quite good, though I’ve had better omelette and pulpo. Overall a nice experience.

Been to both Broadgate and Bermondsey. The flavours never let them down. I've been fortunate enough to meet José a few times and has always been a true gentleman.

I’ve been to the Jose Pizarro on Bermondsey Street before so I had high expectations. Unfortunately the name of the restaurant is the only thing they have in common! Food wasn’t great, decor was bad and the staff didn’t seem to want to be there any more than we did. Just another chain restaurant. Go to Bermondsey street Jose if you want an authentic experience.

A case of style over substance. Tapas dishes feel over-engineered and yet aren’t massively tasty. For example, we had the special deep-fried baby lamb cutlets - promised a lot but delivered little: there was barely any meat and the crumb was bland. We fed this back and did get a free dessert, which was a nice touch. Service and atmosphere were generally good but overall experience does not justify the price tag. I don’t think we’ll return.

Amazing Tapas. Great selection of dishes. The spinach and blue cheese croquettas were insanely good! Lovely atmosphere on a Friday night and service was attentive but relaxed. Highly recommended.

Thing is with tapas bars in the UK they are overpriced and not worth paying out for. Having lived in Spain for years and eating real tapas at real prices (often they come free with a drink) it's hard for me to be complimentary

Style over substance. Small, bland portions accompanied by a huge bill! The RA was a beautiful setting - and the staff were attentive - but serving staff asking who the 'cheese on toast' was for really emphasised 'style over substance'. It was painful paying almost £200 for a party of 5 when we left still hungry! Five Guys next time!

Really good place for tapas. Not cheap, but you do notice the quality of the ingredients. Also worth mentioning the good service, which showed a real attention to detail. For example, we were advised when we had ordered too much food, and the waitress noticed when we had a lot of sauce left from the mussels and suggested some bread to mop it up. Have to deduct a star for being given a time limit of two hours, on a point of principle.

Hmmn, so not great tapas and not bad tapas. Not super-expensive but definitely not cheap. Poor value patatas bravas, poor quality tomatoes in our salad. Some of the more adventurous dishes just didn't deliver but the tortilla espanola was OK-good as were the mussels. Won't be rushing back I'm afraid, but if you want a ZiZi-like experience but spanish tapas it sort of works.

Non male… ma prezzi alti per piccole quantità e poca scelta di tapas… Abbiamo preso per tre persone 5 tapas e 2 cheesecake (non molto buone) e abbiamo pagato 24 £ a testa.

The chorizo slow cooked for 24 hours in wine is indescribable but reminiscent of pure and utter perfection. I was completely overcome with emotion as this food melted into my tastebuds. Insane experience that only a truly talented chef can create. After a very testy and crowded tube ride, I was happy to sit back and have the wonderful staff describe the menu and offer suggestions—they did not disappoint.

Massively Disappointing. It was the quietest place in the area when the other restaurants were spilling out and had no tables. Just poor and will leave you hungry for a proper meal.

Very positive experience. Service and food were excellent. This is a lively and authentic tapas bar that would not be out of place on the streets of Madrid or Barcelona. I particularly enjoyed the ‘gambas al ajillo’.

Very consistent and great for last-minute availability, I’ve visited this branch of Jose Pizarro several times and never been disappointed. Cocktails are good, food is tasty, and the location is excellent for people-watching (and plenty of choices in Broadgate circle for another drink once you’ve finished your meal!)

We had a lovely dinner here. The portion is not big but we could try a few more dishes. Food was tasty and fresh. Price was reasonable. The octopus is for sure recommended. Just the sourdough bread was not so good compared to the other restaurant in general.

Our server was attentive and passionate, she explained the menu and dealt with our dietary requirements. Also, the food selection is amazing aside being a little pricey. I'll definitely recommend this place.

Booked a lunchtime outdoor table. It was thankfully in shade given the very hot sun. We picked items from the appetiser list as Tapas. The selection was a good one. Padron peppers were cooked nicely with salt. The croquettes of the day were blue cheese and spinach and very good too. The cheese selection was nice too if a little small. Our only complaint was the service. We needed to dash as there on a lunch hour. We asked for a bill but had to wait so long we ended up having to pay at the till.

I had a very poor service experience at The Swan in Esher on 9th July. Following up my verbal complaint to the on site manager on the evening, I emailed via Jose Pizarro's on line feedback template (reference Yates booking) . Zero response to date (as at 25 July), not even an acknowledgement of my complaint. I cannot find any other way of letting head office know of my displeasure, hence resorting to TripAdvisor

This Spanish tapas bar & restaurant proved a real gem of a find in Pimlico – granted, a friend that accompanied us on the day actually recommended it, having been there before. And it did not disappoint – with a wide menu selection offering too many delicious & tasty, authentic dishes, with some of my ‘favourites’ being Albondigas (meatballs in a red wine & tomato sauce), Tortilla Espanola (Spanish omelette), Chorizo al Vino (Spanish sausage cooked in red wine), Pollo a la Mostaza (Chicken in mustard sauce), and Patatas Bravas (Potatoes with spice tomato sauce), to name a few. Attentive, efficient staff on hand, with both indoor & outdoor seating available. I’d go back without a doubt! Highly recommended.

Honestly, this place was just awful. The food was bad. Small portions (8 padrón peppers in a portion…), over cooked, and very over priced. The service was terrible. I can understand people have bad days and that if you’re short staffed it’s hard but having to ask repeatedly for the food we’ve ordered isn’t ok. Very disappointed I wasted time and money here - I’d advise you go elsewhere.
