Marcela's marvellous mararitas. But......let down by the Maitresse d' wearing what looked like pyjamas! Not a good look.

After arriving early and just 11 minutes after taking our seats. Our waiter told us that we were not ordering fast enough and reminded us that we only had the table for 90 minutes. I would like the thank the scruffy self important twerp for making our evening such a joy. Well done!

Relaxing lunch at Jose Pizarro. The service was attentive, friendly and efficient, a special mention goes out to Grace at the door. The dishes were very flavourful, highlights being the Spanish potato omelette and the almond tart, absolutely delicious!

One piece of modestly-sized cheesecake cost £11.00! And they had the cheek to charge £1.26 service even though we ordered at the counter and took our tray to a table. Outrageous overcharging. Never again.

An outstanding place to eat if you are visiting an exhibition at the Royal Academy. You need to book as it was really busy on a Thursday lunchtime. Service was absolutely impeccable and very informative. I had the green olives and orange slices as a starter, which was a very good combination. The main course included very tasty prawn croquettes in aioli , delicious chorizo and a potato based slice from a tart. All absolutely delicious. As desert a pear custard crumble was nothing like a traditional English crumble, but was very tasty nonetheless. I had the house white wine in a 500ml carafe, which was perfect if a little expensive.

This is a very pleasant restaurant for a lunch with a colleague or friend. There is a wide choice of tapas, all very well prepared and seasoned . Vegetarians have a good range of choices here and all the dishes are suitable for sharing. This is undemanding but good quality food in pleasant surroundings . It cost £70 for 2.

Only marred by the front of house guy basically politely suggested that we were crashing the restaurant without a reservation (which I made a week ago and confirmed). Note to him: check with your colleague who checks people in and shows them to their table, before making assumptions.

I'm a fan of Pizarro's other place in Bermondsey, where the dishes really allow the high quality produce to shine. At the RA, the atmosphere is undoubtedly pleasant and refined, with beauty all around, but the dihses left me overall underwhelmed. An excellent gazpacho was accompanied by a less enthusing pan con tomate (not very bright tomato) and a disappointing, tough cured mackerel. Sliced 5 Jotas was good of course, but at 500 pounds per Kilo I wonder about value for money, A dish of quail with very little to eat in it was OK, and so was one of carrot and cheese, while their famed Basque style cheesecake was no match for the best you can find elsewhere. The waitresses who served us were friendly and efficient, while what looked like the manager was inattentive and excessively relaxed and not on the ball. Prices are high, in my opinion, for the rather dull experience. If you want to try Pizarro, go to Bermondsey and when visiting the wonderful RA, for a meal go for one of the numerous options options in the vicinities.

We had a pre summer collection lunch today . I have wanted to try Jose food for ages so this was a great combo. To be honest, the food was good but not exceptional. We had delicious prawn croquettes in aioli , yummy chorizo and spectacular iberico ham. But there were some let downs. The octopus was tasteless and tiny served in a weird potato type sauce. Cheesecake dessert bland . We had the house rose and it was underwhelming . I might go back but not in a hurry !

Usually this restaurant is only open for lunch. But on Friday nights, the Royal Academy is open and so was this location, The atmosphere is very casual and the food is excellent.

On our recent visit to The Royal Academy of Art in London we stumbled upon Jose Pizarro, co-located in a tasteful space on the 1st floor of the RA building. And what good luck that was! The menu is an assortment of tapas. We indulged in three dishes for a light Sunday lunch: asparagus, chorizo and wild shrimp followed by a chocolate pot w/a flat white. The sauces accompanying the tapas dishes made each one a taste sensation. The dessert was icing on the cake, so to speak. Service was excellent: attentive and helpful. Highly marks all around.

Not content with two sites on Bermondsey Street or even taking over the food Raymond Blanc style at a Home Counties pub Jose Pizarro’s colonising ambitions have reached the heart of the Central London art establishment taking over two areas in the Royal Academy accessed from the Burlington Gardens rear entrance. Apart from a ground floor cafe serving beverages pastries and a superb basque cheesecake is the heart of the operation on the first floor where a restaurant serving mainly tapas style dishes has nestled itself in the grand high-ceilinged Senate Room with tables spilling over into the atrium outside. This was my third visit, the first a solo effort; the second with my sister-in-law just after Christmas; the third with my wife and daughter. It was marginally less successful than my earlier two visits. It was 2.30pm on a Sunday afternoon. Hake and mash which my fussily eating daughter would have liked best was the one dish was off the menu. There were flowers on each table which had long wilted should have been replaced or just removed altogether. Sour bread arrived after the rest of our order which at least have us an excuse to order a plate of cold cuts. The bill was completely messed up - twice, with some items we’d ordered such as chicken canelon charged twice as well as two beers which we hadn’t ordered at all. Fortunately everything we had ordered was excellent particularly prawn fritters, cooked chorizo in balls resembling some rare fruit, a toast of sausages with a generous sprinkling of cheese on top, aubergine and tomato stew (a sort of vegetarian huevos rotos) with a fried egg. A chocolate pot and a lB almond and raisin tart shaped like a hat made for some spectacular desserts.

Most pleasant experience with my son having a selection of tapas. Dani was a fantastic host and made us feel welcome. Other waiters & waitresses were friendly too. Dani was special because they were busy but he kindly got us a table. Muchísimas gracias Dani. Wonderful food and lovely atmosphere

My husband and I are tapas fans so when I discovered this restaurant was at the RA where we’d booked to see the Hispanic exhibition, it was an obvious choice for my his birthday lunch ! The tapas dishes were all so full of flavour and very fresh tasting, the prawn fritters were to die for! Not badly priced and great service too. Ticked all the boxes !

Truly the WORST dining experience I've ever had. Most of the positive reviews are old, as it used to be slightly better previously but has significantly declined. The food was tasteless, but the main issue is the appalling service. From start to finish, the manager was rude and patronizing. He began by trying to convince us that we didn't have a reservation. Even after showing him the reservation, he insisted we made a mistake and booked for the wrong day. This continued, despite us showing him the reservation with the correct date on my phone. I had to wait an hour and a half, and ask the staff 4-5 times just to get 1 drink as they kept forgetting and ignoring me , only to get the wrong one after all that. I drank water the entire evening. No apologies were offered. They forgot to bring out a couple of things we ordered, but at that point, we didn't bother mentioning it as it would have been too much hassle and more bad attitude from the staff. I could honestly continue detailing how bad it was. Nobody asked us how our meal was, nobody checked if we needed anything, we had to fight for waiters attention when it was just moderately busy. This is the worst restaurant I've been to GLOBALLY.

my Spanish friends took us there to try authentic Spanish tapas and beer. The interior of the place make an impression, but moreover is so peaceful and feels cosy and comfortable. Food is freshly made, full of flavour, colourful and dishes represent different parts of Spain. Great selection but not sure if worth the money, quite pricy but hey - its central London! However, I would love to go back :)

This is like having a tiny piece of Spain in London . Excellent , albeit rather small range of tapas. Churros and hot chocolate is wonderful too. However- Either their pricing or their portion size is very wrong?!

My sister in law and her husband visit here every year for their anniversary. We went along Yesterday to see what all the fuss was about and we are now huge fans! Between 4 of us we enjoyed the following; Buñuelos De Gambas prawn fritters with garlic alioli Padron small green peppers from Galicia Croquetas De Pollo chicken croquettes Calamares A La Romana deep-fried fresh squid Huevos Rotos Especiales broken fried eggs, potatoes, chorizo, prawns & chilli peppers Patatas Bravas deep-fried potatoes in chilli, tomato & garlic sauce Champiñones Y Setas Al Ajillo mushrooms in garlic & breadcrumbs Croquetas De Jamón Ibérico Iberian ham croquettes Pollo Al Ajillo pan-fried chicken on the bone, white wine, garlic, olive oil Pinchos de Cordero lamb skewers with yogurt sauce Brownie Con Helado triple chocolate brownie & ice cream Crema Catalana crème brûlée with crunchy caramelised top ✨️ We absolutely loved this meal. We finished every bite! I highly recommend a visit and think the prices are very reasonable for central London. The ambience is fun, trendy and not pretentious at all. Super friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
