If you are craving Spanish food, this is one of the restaurants you should visit. Very good quality of dishes and good wine list. The staff is lovely at all times. It should be noted that it is better to make a reservation because it is usually full at all hours.

Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in the city of London. Amazing food quality and outstanding service led by Juan, David and the rest of the team. Certainly no need to fly to Spain unless you want a warmer weather. Everything else you need is there except better.

We were refused service on Monday Mar 25. We, a party of 4 adults and a toddler, entered around 9pm for dinner and asked to see a menu. The hostess promptly handed us one and told us that the kitchen closes at 930. We had plenty of time, we thought. We decided to eat and asked to be seated. She steps back, whispers something to her colleague/boss, he whispers back, she comes back and tells us they cannot serve us because they don’t allow kids under 12. We were obviously surprised because I had been holding my toddler in my arms when we entered and they knew very well that we plan to eat with the baby when they handed us the menu and told us kitchen hours. Mind you, there’s nothing on their door that forbids kids under 12 from eating there. They just made it up on the spot. For some reason, after that little conference with her colleague, they deny us service and blame it on the kid. Although I do wonder if it was about the kid. A quick scan of the patrons in the restaurant I couldn’t help but notice there was not a single non-white patron. I’m not white, so maybe they thought it will cramp their style? Or maybe it was the toddler and they didn’t like the idea of the (half white) toddler in the middle of these well dressed financiers and bankers. Either way, we were humiliated in front of everyone, and were refused service. As international tourists visiting London, this severely soured our experience. I plan to file an official discrimination complaint with the city of London after my trip. In the meantime, I would not recommend this establishment.

Had dinner with friends on a Tuesday night. The place was buzzing and lively. The staff were very friendly and the service excellent. The food was delicious. Would be very happy to go again.

I come from Asturias and the menu is totally lazy for the price. The Asturian bean stew barely comes with one slice of chorizo and morcilla when we get a plate with the meat aside or whole/half portions of the meat. The produce is excellent but the chorizo was not extraordinary. The dessert was fine but again not out of the ordinary. Higher talent and innovative needs to be engaged to develop regular customers. The atmosphere is fine but the waiters are all concentrated in the bar area whilst the room next did not have any at hand.

This place fully deserves my 5 star review. Everything is top notch, service and food. Stuff is extremely attentive, polite and pleasant. Would be back. Loved octopus and the lamb

Sorry to say but a disappointing evening at Hispania last night which traditionally is so good. They normally cope well despite being busy but last night the service was too slow and the food unusually and unexpectedly poor.

Where to start??? An 11 out of 10. Due to our time in London these days as Spaniards, we have come to eat in Hispania and there are no words to describe our experience. First of all the service, incredible, attentive, helpful, all the waiters but especially Pablo our waiter. The food, everything perfect 👌, it seems like we were in Spain, something to be appreciated, authentic Spanish/Asturian cuisine with quality products and it shows!!!! Thanks to the Hispania team for bringing a little piece of our land to London.

Overall a very good and solid place. Nice for lunch or dinner. Food is very nice, but maybe not quite like it might be in Spain, but still you get a taste. Service is great. Very attentive and authentic experience.

We went for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding and we loved it! The place is wonderful, right in front of the Bank of England, the food is delicious, it shows that they only use top quality ingredients. For me it has become my favorite Spanish restaurant in London, a must visit every time we return.

I'm always very impressed by Hispania. The food is excellent and the staff always make sure they look after me for dietary requirements, not mentioning being really nice!

Food was... Not hot enough. Tasty but had been left way too long on the pass. The wine was exceptional and the sommelier the star of service.

It was a pleasant experience from start to finish! The staff were very attentive, prompt and friendly. We tried most of the menu options and they were all good! As it’s tapas, recommend 3-4 dishes for person. We got the basque cheesecake for dessert and it was perfect to top off the meal!

It’s a shame we had a negative experience here as the restaurant itself is beautiful and we were really looking forward to it. We walked into a packed restaurant and were asked to sit on a bar table with bar stools which was extremely uncomfortable and unable to fit many plates of food on. Food was extremely overpriced, the cost of 2 drinks and 2 starters was the amount I would expect to pay for a 3 course meal for two.

Bang average overpriced food unfortunately. Nice location and very clean with good atmosphere - I was looking forward to bringing one of my best clients here for lunch. We ordered two glasses of Albariño with our dinner. Waitress came back to say they had run out so we ordered her recommendation instead. She re-appeared with a magnum sized bottle and poured my clients glass first then started my glass - only for it to run out after a few short dribbles……she apologised and then came back with another Magnum sized bottle only for it to run out AGAIN before my glass has reached the right level. Watched her serve other people before finally returning to complete my glass - I asked if she could also top up my guests glass as she had taken a few sips whilst we waiting ages for my glass - she refused saying she will have to charge extra!! So this set the tone for our meal - embarrassing stuff. Then the waitress took our napkins away before the food came - I only realised this half way through when I wanted to dab my mouth. The food was nice enough but maybe the above soured the taste - my client did remark the food can remarkably quick for a restaurant - it is like to have been ready in a selection on the pass which is maybe understandable but with fish it’s not good enough. We will not be back and I still owe my client a decent lunch - there are countless in the area but I wanted to try somewhere I had not been - my mistake.

The hardest part of the evening was to choose the food. Everything looks so delicious. We started with the tuna tartare, which melt in your mouth like snow flakes, and the foie gras served with broken walnuts. So tasty. Then for mains, we had the veal escalope stuffed with spanish ham and cheese which was made with such harmony, and the famous suckling pig. Again, bursting with flavours and finishing like a firework on your palate. That was such an incredible dining experience. A special thank you to David for making that evening so memorable. He is friendly, efficient and very customer oriented who will make you feel confortable and welcome.

Absolutely delicious! The croquettes are so delicious and melt in your mouth I would eat these everyday if I could (and not put on any weight!!). I want to make everything I tried at home, that's how utterly scrumptious the food was. If I could give 10 stars I would! The staff were super attentive and friendly even though it was very busy, which is a wonderful touch. A lovely place, lovely atmosphere, beautiful plates and decorations. Also the women's toilet wallpaper, wonderful.

Not cheap but worth the treat. Great service, never felt rushed, accomodated everything asked of them. Tasty food, great wine selection and they put in the extra effort for a birthday meal.

Upscale Spanish inspired menu. It’s a nice restaurant with good decor. Service could have been slightly better, we were kept waiting by the door for a long time despite having a reservation. The food is great, really recommend the croquettes and the rice!

Wow! What a restaurant! Probably the best Spanish restaurant I have ever visited.

Simplemente fantástico. Es un restaurante con una carta amplia, comida al estilo español y en particular asturiano. Calidad inmejorable. Todo lo que pedimos estaba exquisito. Las croquetas de setas, rabas de calamar, tomate de ensalada, crujiente de queso... Mención especial para la fabada y el cachopo, que son los mejores que he comido nunca y he ido muchas veces a Asturias y los he comido muchas veces. El camarero, Sergei, nos atendió de manera inmejorable. Atento, amable, educado y trato cercano, no se puede pedir más. Un chico fantástico. El metre, un asturiano, nos atendió muy bien y nos dió mesa aún sin tener reserva. Sin duda, recomendaré el Hispania a todos mis conocidos y cuando vuelva a Londres, por allí me verán. Un 10 con estrella 💫.

Nice Spanish restaurant if you’re looking for a more ‘high end’ dining experience. Our waiter Sergey was attentive and friendly. Staff very kindly treated us to some special extras as it was a Birthday celebration.

Great food and service, a little pricey, quite a big menu. It’s a very nice place and the staff were lovely. They have a cloaks room for bags as well.

You can't go wrong :) I used to eat here regularly, pre-CoViD, and have always loved the food, wines, staff and ambiance. This was my first visit in years ... I was very pleased to see that the company, menu, execution, service and ambience have all survived the ravages of COVID lockdown - although the front of house staff have pretty much all changed (my best wishes to my old friends, wherever you are!). I notice they are hiring for a CdC - I hope that goes well; meantime, the kitchen seemed to be delivering perfectly for my visit! Although I'm not sure they mention it anywhere, the menu, though diverse, has an Asturian bent; the executive chef is Asturian, and well accoladed - Sr. Marcos Morán. The building is ideal (from the diners' perspective) - high-ceiling, spacious, cool stone decor - and the ambiance perfect - just as I remembered it. The food is gorgeous and authentic - I found nothing to question here. Pimientos de Padrón, unusually for the UK - both in my experience, and that of a Gallician friend - included a representative number of picante examples; from one plate, I had two moderately hot and one real scorcher - as hot as I ever recall having. Everything from here-on-down, I think, is Asturian in origin, style or variance (or maybe regionally undifferentiated for the croquettas?) Sr. Móran's (Casa Gerardo, q.v.) bocadillos crujientes de quesos - very light filo pastry sandwiches of slightly sweet creamed cheeses - I think, best interleaved with other dishes, but also a great relevé or finalé - were exactly as I recall; this is not a belly-filler, but a dainty palate-pleaser. Hmm... they may pair well with a Manzanilla as an aperativo. Croquetas de setas - inch-cubed fried cubes of wild-mushroom-béchamel awesomeness, in a fragile crust, are both delightful, and filling. The calamares were about as good as I've found in the UK - I am very picky with this simple dish, but I would still come back here for them. There too are cold tapas and main dishes - and I don't recall ever trying anything here that didn't impress. There are a number of vegetarian-friendly dishes - but this is not primarily vegetarian cuisine. I'm not sure how much is vegan-friendly, but I imagine the kitchen is used to accommodating most needs. One word of caution; I found my selection marginally on the salty side by the time I was done - this is exactly as I would expect it, from an authenticity perspective - I ate only tapas, and plenty of it; if you tend to steer clear of salt, talk to your waiter first before digging into a whole table of tapas (in any restaurant!). The rice pudding (arroz con leche) was perfect - not overly-sweet in the body, with the correct smooth texture and hydration, and a beautiful creme-brulée-style caramel cap. This house has fantastic wines at decent prices; if you know what you want, you won't be disappointed; if not, ask for advice, and ... you still won't be disappointed. The classic Bodegas Muga special reserve Rioja by the glass was more than satisfying for me, today, and a beautiful G.B. Palo Cortado was the perfect foil to the rice pudding. Unlike most bars and restaurants, Hispania has a well chosen range of sherries - for starters, mains and desserts. This is not a cheap restaurant, but neither is it expensive for what it is nor for it's location. I trust you will enjoy it as much as I do! In case they read this - for last night, my thanks to the front-of-house staff, notably Sres. Luis, Tony, who were appropriately friendly, professional, informative, and attentive (notwithstanding my late arrival, pre-whetted whistle, and my occasional non-deliberate confused attempts to speak some mix of Castilian and South-American Spanish, with maybe some Galego and Italian thrown in for good measure, I suspect!). And my thanks - and apologies for presenting unannounced barely before end-of-service - to the kitchen! I look forward to seeing you again!

Ristorante Spagnolo nel centro della city, ambiente tranquillo, location spaziosa e ben arredata in stile Spagnolo. Servizio cordiale e attento,i camerieri parlano sia inglese che spagnolo. Cucina spagnola con piatti della tradizione veramente buoni, sembra proprio di mangiare in Spagna. I prezzi non sono proprio quelli spagnoli..... soprattutto per le bevande, ma considerando la location ed il servizio, vale la cifra spesa 👏👏👏👏

Hands down the best Spanish food in the city of London. Authentic food, authentic wine and beer, authentic interior. You must order the croquetas and the tortilla!

After reluctantly, being seated away from the main door and requesting to be moved. First two courses wee good and I would rate the. 7/10. However the main course was 0/10, burnt food all round, after saying the obvious, the mains were removed but left underwhelmed, very disappointed and hungry after paying beet part of £250.00 for a meal for two, never again. Then Big Mac at McDonald’s was less discounting

I am Spanish and... I felt like I was in Spain. Heavenly yumminess.

Unlike several reviewers' experiences we received reasonable service, but the tapas was a significant disappointment - bland, uninspired and limited choice. It was beyond us why the place was so busy and there are far better tapas restaurants in London. We will not bother to go there again.

It was such an amazing experience

An attractive restaurant, very well decorated. Not the warmest greeting and service throughout was average. My wine glass was empty and at no point was I offered another. This was after my wine order had been forgotten. A decent menu, we shared some tapas, had our ham croquette portion downsized by our waiter. Meatballs slightly undercooked. Beef cheeks more fatty than I’ve had before. I’d not be in a hurry to return but the evening we visited it was very busy.

Used to be such good quality food and service. Went last week and I swear the food could have been from Iceland. It’s was so poor it was almost comical. We thought we were part of a weird prank. Every course was awful

I should have taken more photos of our food! It was all so good, I didn't make time to stop for pictures. Anthony was our server and he was excellent! Totally made our entire experience. His recommendations were amazing. Sangria cava, croquetas Jamon, ensaladillla rusa, gamba aljillo and the pork chimichurri all knocked it out of the park. We love tapas. We will talk about this meal and our amazing server for decades!

Hispania has amazing food and great service. It’s the perfect place for sharing Tapas with friends or a business lunch. Beautiful space and warm atmosphere; not to mention the wine selection!!

As someone who works in the City, I usually go to Hispania pretty often. As a Spaniard living in London, I'm very picky when I see anyone claiming to offer good Spanish food or the so trite 'tapas'. Well, Hispania is one of the few ones holding their own: the jamon or mushroom croquetas, the garlic prawns, the jamon, the padron peppers, the black rice... but on top of that, I have to mention the service, the treatment (David and Juan will make sure everything is absolutely spot on for you) and the vibe of the place. It does make you feel like back in Spain, with such warm atmosphere so difficult to find in other places of the city going for that fancy vibe so in vogue these days (also good, but not that special in my eyes). All my clients have always fallen in love with the place. Absolutely recommended. ps: they have recently added an option for Kosher catering food that some of my Jewish colleagues have taken advantage of, for those requiring such option.

Impeccable food, attentive staff: all round a really nice place for a meal

Un cinco estrellas que merece 10. La atención de David, Pedro y personal, sin comparación. Mi Esposa reservó para el día de mi cumpleaños en la cena, y la carta nos dejó impresionados. Imposible no querer probar absolutamente todo, al final nos inclinamos a probar las croquetas y los crocantes de queso, las carrilleras de ternera. Y yo terminé con un arroz con leche de casa Gerardo que estaba estupendo. Un recuerdo y la sensación de estar en España. Un punto aparte también, un saludo muy cordial y agradecido con nuestro amigo de Barranquilla, a quien no preguntamos su nombre!. Muy bien logrado y muy recomendado. Con los ojos cerrados. Volveremos!

FAV RESTAURANT IN THE CITY Hispania not only has a lovely environment and an amazing quality of food but also has a great fast and professional service that makes you feel special during the whole time. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy an upscale experience for a very reasonable price. Amazing!!

Amazing food, great service, and a beautiful restaurant. The best Spanish food I have ever tasted. We were a table of four and we chose a few dishes and some great red wine..then a few more dishes…more wine… and of course a few more dishes! The waiter was such a nice guy and he made recommendations for us. He really knew the dishes.

Great food, but terrible and slow service. Waitress pretty much ignored us (2 ethnic women) - although was very attentive to the white clientele around us - so had to go to the bar to place our order. I would give zero stars but the food - really very delicious - partially redeemed this place. That said, no way would I recommend or return to this place.

Without a doubt, one of most authentic, welcoming and best decorated Spanish restaurants in London. It is always excellent.

Ristorante abbastanza elegante, ma non particolarmente caro ( considerando i prezzi londinesi) nei pressi della Borsa di Londra e della Banca d’Inghilterra. Il cibo, di terra e di mare, è di buona qualità (certamente superiore alla media di Londra) e l’accoglienza e’ tipicamente latina, cordiale e informale. Servizio molto efficiente, ci ha servito una cameriera spagnola, di cui non so il nome, molto affabile ed efficiente. Locale certamente consigliato

Really sad about the experience at Hispania. We had booked for dinner and initially it seemed promising. They took our coats and welcomed us into the restaurant, sadly, it only went downhill from there. We were waiting to get served for half an hour and no one acknowledged us. All the waiters walked right past our table even when we tried to get their attention. There was absolutely no service provided to us that evening. Once we asked for our coats the floor manager came to us and said ‘we’re very busy’. I pointed out that half the tables were empty, his response was ‘we’re about to get busy’. It was such a disappointment to our evening. They cancelled our OpenTable booking after we left so that we couldn’t write a review, I thought that was incredibly cheeky.

Service dreadful, waiting to order a drink whilst being ignored by staff over and over. Finally decided to leave and the floor manager made the excuse that ‘we’re about to get busy’, baffling and poor excuse.

Had a very enjoyable lunch, chose a selection of the smaller plates and our group was very pleased with the selection. The pork was fabulous and the ham croquettes were light and super tasty. Service efficient and they recommended some good wine at acceptable prices, for Lombard street!

I was shocked at how poor the service was. We had to ask three times for drinks, only half the table were asked if they wanted dessert and the waiting staff were curt and dismissive. We ordered the fruit salad with sorbet but only got the fruit, when we flagged it we were just told “we’ve run out” with no apology or offer of an alternative. I would definitely not return or recommend.

If you like Spanish cuisine, here it is with a glass of good rioja right in the heart of the City. I always find the staff friendly and helpful and am pleased to drop in for lunch or evening plate of jamon from time to time. It can get quite busy sometimes.

The place is large and lovely decorated. The 9 of us were crammed on two small table in a corner, it was rather uncomfortable. The food is good and if you like meat the portions are large. However there is very limited choices for vegetarians.
