Lovely Spanish tapas restaurant in the heart of Mayfair serving quality and authentic Spanish cuisine. Went for lunch and had a great time. Would recommend it

The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and a good selection of tasty dishes. I appreciated the nice touch of having our jackets stored in a cloakroom. However, while some of the staff were friendly, our waitress made us feel rushed and unwelcome, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. For a place of this caliber, that level of service was disappointing, which is why I’ve given a 3-star rating. It’s unfortunate because everything else was enjoyable, but this did affect our experience.

What a wonderful find, tucked away in the back streets of Mayfair, this splendid restaurant is a must visit. Amazing service… delicious coffee and food… as well as an upbeat vibe. We will definitely be back to sample some of that delicious wine showcased on your menu 😉

Food was pretty good. Bill was £50 pp (we only had tap water) for dinner. But the noise level was almost unbearable — all the guests talking bounced off the brick walls and it was difficult to hear my friend, we had to speak extra loud throughout the dinner. Didn’t have this problem during lunchtime. From now on, will only eat here for lunch!

Good Spanish choice, I loved the gambas al pil pil

We had fabulous food and experience in the little alcove on the lower level of the restaurant. Our local friend recommended the restaurant and we were thoroughly pleased with the food from the black rice calamari to paella to the Iberico ham. You won't be disappointed in any aspect with this establishment.

It tastes bad. Don’t believe Xiaohongshu.

We ordered four tapas and a brownie with vanilla ice cream. Just right! Only one drawback, the people at the table next to us had been there a while, and were a little boisterous (drunk.)

HBefore I placed my order, the waiter asked if I wanted water, and assuming it was complimentary, I agreed. She didn’t mention that it came at a cost. After paying, I noticed the menu listed both 330ml and 750ml options for water. However, she never asked me which size I preferred and instead served the 750ml without any clarification. This approach to upselling without informing the customer felt dishonest and left me quite frustrated.

This is truly one of my favorite establishments in London. The tapas were exceptional, offering great value for the generous portion sizes. I also tried one of their red wine sangrias, which was incredibly flavorful and refreshing. I highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting London!

What a great restaurant with authentic Spanish food! Service and food are first rate!!

What amazing experience. Service was outstanding, food was so good we went back the next day. If you’re in the area it’s worth the visit.

I think we tried everything and it was all great, some things were not some of the guests cup of tea but with 9 of us there was nothing that did not find a hungry and appreciative beneficiary. Food, drink, service, ambiance all top drawer. Thank you all.

Been there twice. Food is amazing. The restaurant has a calm and cozy vibe. I've always found it full, yet the staff seems to have it all under control and everyone gets taken care of well. Relative to most places in the area, it's an absolute bargain in terms of cost as well.

Charming yet vibrant tapas bar with a wide choice of tapas and great wine and drinks. We were blown away by the quality of the food and the excellent service of the friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was perfect for a intimate birthday celebration. Can't wait to visit again! Thank you.

Delicious tapas in a restaurant with a great vibe. Lovely location in the heart of Mayfair and down a quiet street. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Highlights were the bread with tomatoes, sliders, chilli prawns, and black rice and squid. Wine menu was quite extensive and reasonably priced. Will be going back!

Gorgeous food, wine and setting. A friend and myself enjoyed a bottle of dry rose and some tapas at El Pirata. The food was delicious, hot, and good value for money. Definitely recommend for a well priced central location.

Great food, in a nice setting. Albeit, the food portions could be bigger, and I found one of the waiters to be a little ‘off’, it felt like he had an attitude, hence 4/5 overall, as there is just no need, especially at those prices! Bit of a shame, as I want to give 5/5, but I cannot.

After a stroll in Green Park, my friend and I walked just 3 minutes to this Spanish restaurant for lunch. The ambiance was fantastic, with unique wall decor and beautiful flowers on the door. We ordered two glasses of wine, which were excellent. The tapas were also delicious, and we were very satisfied with our meal.

Great food and many options. There is a section on the menu specifically vegetarian. Recommend a reservation as it got quite busy around 6pm

Lovely cozy spanish restaurant with absolutely stunning tapas. Tapas serving speed was quick. Seafood paella is nice but might not be the best cost/price dish on the menu. Would love to try squid rice next time. Sangria tastes slightly watery but it somehow tastes like spain island restaurants’

It was a very exciting friends gathering and we specially booked the table early. When I arrived there are plenty of two tables available and we been seated at the front of the storage or service door. While we are watching waiters and waitress kept running in and out like a show for the whole evening , So Atmosphere ? Haha a party for two turns into a grand celebration. Very lively! However we did have a great night with rushed to finished the food and changed a place to enjoy lots of champagnes and wines at the end. So cannot comment on anything else.

If you like authentic Spanish food this is the place you need to visit.

A fabulous little find not far from Buckingham Palace. We had lunch there and it had such a good vibe and more importantly incredible food and drinks.

It’s pretty good. Good atmosphere, good range of Spanish wines that you don’t normally see in England. My only disappointment was that there was no morcilla on the menu. I’d go back in the future. Service was very good and the atmosphere was great too.

My group shared a number of tapas. Calamari, ham croquettes, and the jamon iberico which is expensive but very much worth it. The cheese platter was also wonderful. This was a great restaurant.

Popped in yesterday for their 30th party, the food was superb, great wine, great beers and fantastic cocktails, it all just kept coming out. the bar was packed but a perfect party atmosphere.

Decent tapas restaurant in the center of London. Large choice of tapas and Spanish food. Friendly and chatty staff.

Excellent food and service. Great choice of wines. Food authentic, excellent variety, perhaps a little under seasoned but that's easily remedied. Couldn't be bothered to waste time with photos the food was too good to wait.

We tried an excellent Paella with seafood here. At the entrance, a Jamon cupcake which was very good too. Accompanied by a good sangria. I made the reservation in advance. I recommend!

I like the garlic shrimp and ribeye steak, this is one of the best tapas in London. My favourite is still the seafood Paella. Definitely worth waiting 45 mins freshly cooked!

Disappointing Experience with Discrimination and Poor Service I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant. My friend and I were seated at an outdoor table, ready to enjoy our meal. While I was in the restroom, my friend was quietly on a phone call when a couple (Two men) seated behind us rudely complained that she was disturbing their "enjoyment." Despite her politeness, they continued to be inconsiderate. When our food arrived, this couple finished their meal and, being familiar with the manager, received special attention. One of them, dressed in a pink shirt and bald, confronted us accusingly, claiming we were selfishly taking photos and disrupting their time. We were only taking pictures of ourselves, enjoying our moment, and certainly not of them. Their outburst was clearly discriminatory and seemed targeted at us, two women of a different ethnicity, especially when others around were also talking and making noise without any issue from them. Additionally, the restaurant’s location next to the street meant that a garbage truck and a street sweeper passed by multiple times, spreading foul odors and dust onto our food. Despite this, the restaurant staff, including the manager, did nothing to address the situation when we complained. We were eventually moved indoors where a loud party was going on, further ruining our dining experience as party-goers continuously bumped into our chairs and shouted loudly. Again, the restaurant staff did nothing to manage the noise or ensure a pleasant dining atmosphere. To top it all off, when we voiced our concerns to the staff, they failed to offer even a basic apology. The service was incredibly poor, and the discriminatory behavior we experienced was unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a respectful and enjoyable dining experience.

Excellent quality for a reasonable price. The secreto de cerdo is astounding and the best pork you will ever eat. Service is delightful. Overall astounding.

My daughters took me to celebrate my birthday with lunch, the attention and service was first class, the food was excellent, the quantity was excellent, and the price was good quality, quantity x price in a quiet, pleasant and charming atmosphere, I recommend it, they serve the best What do they promise!!! I would go again as many times as I want Spanish food.

Authentic tapas bar feel. We sat outside and enjoyed some really good food. The chorizo in cider is the best that we've ever had, I would say. The menu has a wide selection of classic tapas, and I am sure we will come back to try the dishes that we didn't choose first time round. The verdejo was 'on point' also. The service is very good and the price fair, certainly for the location.

色々タパス、ピンチョス屋さんを探し高評価なので、ここは絶対美味しいだろうと思って予約した。大当たり！すごく美味しいものがいっぱい。雰囲気はまったくここと同じようなバルセロナの繁盛店にそっくり。ムードはスペイン。わいわい。地下は少し大人しい。多分オーナーらしき人が案内、監督しているせいか、色々目が行き届いている。チョリソーは過去一番美味しかった！サービスの対応もよい。地下に案内されると娘は不服だったようだが、日本人がこちらに詰め込まれているとか、そんなことでもない。日本人と思いきや、違う国の人だったり、現地の人だったりする。そんなことは気にならないほど、食事が美味しいし、サービスも早い。かえって大繁盛店なので、1階はごった返してこわいかも。ミュンヘンのホフブロイハウス状態。食後にエソプレッソドッピオを注文すると、おお、ママさんは粋だね！みたいなお世辞を言われた。帰りはオーナーに満面の笑みでお見送りされた。大満足。リピート間違いなし。こういうところはタクシーを呼んでもらえないので、自分で拾うか、ウーバーを呼ぼう。コロナ前はいっぱいいたのに今回はウーバーがほとんどいなかったが、土地柄か、メイフェアではすぐ捕まえれた。

Managed to get a walk-in table despite it being a busy lunch time. Staff were really attentive, the vibe was great and the food was delicious. I really recommend the croquettes. There’s a lovely selection of wines too. We shared a bunch of dishes between three people and had two alcoholic drinks each - and it came to just under £40pp, including service charge. For the Mayfair location and how delicious the food was, we were really happy with that.

Having a great dinning experience！ The tapas and meat are good taste. Highly reccomend the prawn with olive oil， libian pork secret and rice&squid.

My hidden gem Spanish tapas restaurant 🍴, absolutely delicious!!! And it's not expensive!!! My favorite black squid seafood rice in London is here 🦑. Love it at first bite! Each grain of rice is distinct, filled with rich creamy and seafood flavors. The texture of the rice is just right, with a perfect balance of flavors. Highly recommended!

Amazing food at a fair price. Everything I come here I lo e everything I order. If you're by yourself, sit at the bar an chill. The Octopus is amazing.

We have come to London to watch the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. The restaurant was recommended to us from Madrid, Spain. And the truth is that we loved Spanish food. The octopus is delicious, we loved the chorizo ​​and egg buns. Chicken and ham croquettes. And the best of all has been taking a Galicia star. I recommend coming to El Pitata to try Spanish food.

The Best!! Ate there tonight and quickly came back to write review. The Paella was incredible..... Would come back tomorrow if I was in town. The chicken Croquettes were perfect. We also had the roasted Cauliflower and grilled artichokes. Amazing. Love this restaurant. Can't say enough.

Very happy with this little place! Great location, close to Green Park Station, just off Piccadilly and close to Shepherds Market. Character restaurant, dark beams , lots of wood, impressive bar, cosy, atmospheric and a touch of Picasso! Very busy for a lunch time which is always a good sign. Menu choices are good and food tasted delicious. Service was great, food delivered quickly as it was cooked. Will definitely recommend (we have already) and will definitely return!

The food was great, the service was good aswell, but we’ve been sitting downstairs and it was unbelievably loud! Like seriously: I’ve never been to a restaurant THAT LOUD. There was a big birthday party but the room itself was only 50% full so I can only imagine how loud it gets. If was hard to understand what my friend was saying and I got a headache. We needed to switch tables because it was literally unbearable. If you go there be prepared to go deaf.

Came here with a friend and was excited for it, booked a table weeks in advance. Atmosphere was lovely and felt comfortable from the start. Although I think I'd ask to sit downstairs during cold months ro escape the draft when the door opens. The waitress who looked after us was sadly not in the best of spirits and a bit grumpy and short but the man, and I believe could have been the manager, was sooo lovely We had a bottle of the house white (and a glass each afterwards), which we had poured as soon as it was necessary, padron, croquetas de jamon, bravas, pil pil, chorizo in cider (OH MY GOD - THE BEST and we just ordered tortilla to have somethingto dip the sauce in) and chicken alajillo Everything was delicious. Both of us have lived in Madrid before and we had a fair share of good tapas but this is as good as it gets outside (one more restaurant in london on that level in Spanish cuisine) We paid £120 together and it was worth it. Only little criticism was the waitress who was not pleasant (although nice at the end, may have warmed up) and it would have been nice to have some water refilled but that is moaning on highest level Will be back and can highly recommend

We arrived without a booking for an impromptu late lunch. One minute we were the only ones in the restaurant the next moment it was packed! Great atmosphere, lovely food and excellent service. This will now be my go to for tapas in London

Wow! What a great experience get ready to eat your way through Spain. Do call and get reservations. Had one of my best meals with my family in London. The service was top notch.

Lovely food but service was a bit patchy at times. It took us asking three different people before we got the bill. In addition, we over-ordered thinking the serving size would be tapas style and I wish our waiter advised us of this instead of saying it was the right amount. Instead pick 2-3 dishes per person as opposed to us picking 4 dishes per person which was too much. I recommend getting the croquettes and octopus. Patatas bravas and Spanish tortilla can be skipped. We’ll come back again to try some different things.

Very sad experience My wife got Gastroenteritis after eating in here for lunch. Another table complaint the food was not clean as well. I think their kitchen should be care about that.

For lovers of Spanish food... The restaurant is good and varied... Paella dish takes a long time, more than half an hour... But the food is delicious... Fast service... The team is smiling and helpful... The atmosphere is noisy... Prices are high...

It does not represent Spanish gastronomy at all. The lamb shoulders are dwarf, and overpriced. Prawns al pil-pil are not prawns al pil-pil as such, but rather a low-quality "simulation". Orange juice is a glass of bottled juice for 4 pounds, and in terms of Spanish gastronomy, very poor. The bill for lamb, a skirt, shrimp pil-pil and drink, 55 pounds for 2 people.

I cannot imagine these is a nice tapas bar hide in Mayfair. The food is very nice and phenomenon is also very chill.

Walked past many times but not poped but it always looked popular. Early Saturday evening walked in and could only eat at bar as fully booked. Tapas was very good and the service 👌 can recommend Brocolini salad, Gambas pil-pil, Berenjena and Pinchos. Will return and definitely book to make sure we can get in...

Paella Marinera Spanish paella This paella is really delicious. The rice is delicious and the seafood tastes rich. Every bite is super satisfying! There was also a small crab in the mussel, which was so cute. Gambas al pil-pil The shrimp meat is fresh and tender, and the aroma of chili and garlic is overflowing. Every bite is spicy and memorable. Lubina a la plancha The skin is golden and crispy, the fish is tender and fresh, and the heat is so good that you can cut it open with a fork. Crispy fish, soft and glutinous fish, sour and sour with lemon juice The restaurant is dimly lit, not very suitable for a date.

Delicious sea bass and tapas 😋😋😋

We dined at El Pirata on a busy Friday night based on the positive reviews we’d read. Unfortunately for us, the reality didn’t match the glowing reviews. The tapas was ok but nothing special: I’ve eaten much better and more interesting in Spain and London. For the money the portions were small. The ambience was ok, bustling and noisy but the lighting was poor. I object to having to use my phone torch to read a menu (and I wasn’t the only one using one). Service was efficient but lacked empathy with me as a customer. The total bill for 2 with 2 drinks and 6 tapas was £90. This is Mayfair so you expect the bill to be expensive. But this wasn’t great value for money for what turned out to be just an ordinary meal.

It’s been a few years since I last visited this establishment and I wasn’t disappointed. I still maintain this is the best Tapas restaurant in London, the fact it’s been open 30 years is proof of this. The food was perfect,the cocktails very good and the staff very informative and attentive. If anybody is in London and wants a Tapas, this is the place to go

Some of the best food I’ve had in London, and a great price given the location!

I have booked El Pirata of Mayfair to visit in the 10th February just before the Cirque Du Soleil show in Royal Albert Hall. Our booking was for 5pm and we arrived slightly earlier but the team accommodated our arrival time and seated us straight away. We have chosen the ground floor table area. The Atmosphere of the restaurant is very urban, staff are very nice and polite. Our menu choice for the night was prawns croquettes, bread crostini’s, green Spanish peppers, ham cheese balls for starters. The mains we had a Seafood Paella Marinara to share for two with some pairing of white vine and raspberry gin and tonic to go with. Desert choices were traditional Almond came and Creme Brulee( but did not had that evening) so we took the double chocolate brownie with ice cream. Nevertheless everything was amazing and our evening went to success. El Pirata is one of those places that you want to go back again and enjoy amazing food again. So yes we will be back again soon :)
