Jolsha in Stockton-on-Tees

Had a lovely meal here last night, I had the slow cooked lamb. Unfortunately I can’t recall the name but the lamb was cooked perfectly and the level of flavour was perfect. Really tasty. My only suggestion for improvement would be about the food being wheeled out on a trolley. It seems a bit gimmicky and dated. I’d definitely go back though.

Fabulous food and equally excellent service. One of the nicest meals we have had in a long time. We were not rushed, had a great table and greeted by the manager. Highly recommend a visit.

There’s nothing on the menu that will surprise you, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. You get a nice meal that is tasty and good value in friendly surroundings. The manager has a great knack for remembering faces and greets everyone like a friend. I have visited here countless times and always leave satisfied.

Just had an Indian takeaway from jolsha in Norton. It was discussing. It was cold it was uncooked the chicken was still pink the onions were raw. We ordered pilau, we received boiled rice and believe me it was boiled like glup. There was no taste to the food. More flavour in beans on toast. Wish so much I saved my money.

Been coming to Jolsha for years and never had a bad meal. The food is amazing, the staff are amazing. The banquet is the such good value for money.

Jolsha used to be an old favourite of ours, so after working away for a number of years, I was looking forward to it again. It has to be said that the place is immaculate and nicely decorated, but each time I have been, maybe 4 times this year, I have found the food disappointing. I would say that I usually went on a Friday or Saturday night, where it is actually quite busy. Poppadoms, pickles and starters are always tasty, but what has happened to the curries? I have heard the have a new chef. So being a self confessed curry connosseir, what I think is happening is that the base gravy they use isnt being cooked out, or reduced enough. i.e not caremalised in the pan. This results in a bland gravy and too much sauce. But what it means is that most of the curries taste the same. I attempted 4 times, but im going to have to give it a miss for a while, until they sort the curries out. So I have had Chicken Balti, Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, Chicken Pathia and to be fair they all taste the same. The Jubally used to one of my faviourite and now that was bland too.

What a wonderful restaurant! We have eaten here many times and we have never been disappointed. Food is excellent and service is exemplary. We will definitely return. Completely recommended this wonderful restaurant.

I love a good Indian and this was one of the nicest I have ever had. Flavoursome and spicy without being overrun with chilli heat for the sake of it.Our party of 8 all loved it. My wife also commented that the Naan was one of the bast she has had.Staff are friendly and efficient.

I came across this very smart restaurant whilst on a business trip. I received a very warm welcome and despite not having booked, I was accommodated with ease. The menu is broad with something to suit all tastes, I'm sure. I was attracted by the description of the Murgh Passanda, a dish that I had not had previously. I chose to have it with mushroom pillau. I was not disappointed. It was wonderfully creamy dish, generously portioned with chicken, mildly spiced but not overpowering. Light "fluffy" rice enfused with mushroom. I enjoyed immensely and wouldn't hesitate to order it again. This restaurant offers both quality and value for money. I would recommend it to anyone and will visit again when in the area.

Living near Yarm I'm getting bored of over priced average food. I wanted something new, so asked work colleagues for tips of different places nearby. People said try Norton, my mind sprang to Wetherspoons and no thanks came out my mouth. I was asked if I liked Indian, I love Indian. Then why not try this place people said.OMG, the food is to die for. The flavours had my taste buds doing a tango on my tongue.The service was fast, the staff very friendly and the place spotless.My wife who has won Miss Fussy Eater 10 years on the bounce never found a fault.This gets a 10 from Len, cant wait to go back.

Visited last week for for a sit down meal andq a family celebration. Seating was OK, not too full. Poppadom and pickle tray service desk at rear of restaurant not too hygenic and did not see various members of staff washing their hands when handling food. When main dishes came we wwre all disappointed. Food taste was OK but portion size of curries and amount of meat in each dish was extremely dissapointing. You get more chicken and lamb in an ASDA ready meal. Rice and nan breads were good but the tiny amount of meat in the curries was a HUGE LETDOWN. On that basis, it was not value for money and we would not go back aagain unless they rethink their portion sizes. Poor value for money, which is a shame as the restaurant and staff are lovely.

Visited again the Ford and drink fantastic. Customer service amazing especially Liton Can’t wait to visit again. 😁👍

Love this place the food is excellent and its great value for money, the set meal for 2 in particular. Definitely need to try the banquest.

Stylish Indian/ Bangladeshi restaurant in Norton. Warm and friendly welcome and great service. The lamb madras was wonderful. Lamb was very tender and full of flavour which was not drowned out by the madras sauce. Rice fluffy and cooked to perfection. Freshly made naan breads a delight.

Enjoyed a lovely meal tonight in Jolsha and after nearly a year of lockdown it was a treat to visit again. Staff were friendly and helpful, service timely and food absolutely delicious! Perspex screens between tables made it feel quite safe and standards were high. Always a pleasure to visit but best to book because it became full very quickly!

Last weekend I ordered a lamb madras with mushroom pilau, naan bread etc . They were just closing up .. the owner delivered it to me himself on his way home ! He was wonderful, so friendly. The food was absolutely delicious . I will definitely be ordering again .

I have placed regular collection orders via telephone over last few months and have NOT been disappointed with any part of the service/meal on any occasion. Now a firm favourite takeout option in the family household.

I frequently order take away and am always greeted with a smile. All the staff are always so helpful and I have never had any issues. The food is always top quality. Highly recommended!

Had an excellent meal. Collected due to Covid. Ordered on line, easy once registered. Delicious tender meat, flavoursome rices and breads, complimentary salad and yoghurt. Well packaged and hot. Enough food for a second helping. Will definitely be using again. Recommend lamb jalfrezi.

Collected a meal from Jolsha and it was so, so tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and must say it was delightful, delicious and definitely deserving of praise. Ordered over phone, given a time slot and food ready on time. Staff were superb....very pleasant.....thank you.

We ordered a fantastic takeaway tonight. We had 17 people all wanting different meals, food was fantastic, piping hot. Everyone’s orders came wrapped separately (Even put names on packaging for us) which was great. Customer service excellent. A well deserved 5* Thank you Jolsha Norton

Visted here on a friday evening however due to the newly enforced local restrictions it was very quiet. Staff were very friendly upon arrival and showed us to our table. We'd eaten out earlier in the day so decided against starters but did order some poppadoms with a pickle tray which was nice. I ordered the Lamb Dhansak and asked for it to be made extra hot. It was absolutely delicious with big tender chunks of lamb. The girlfriend had a chicken tikka masala and also thoroughly enjoyed it. We shared a rice & naan. The overall dining experience was great. Will definitely be returning.

Myself and my boyfriend went for a meal as our final pre lockdown treat! The food was absolutely amazing, service was quick, friendly and impeccable and I would highly recommend. When I asked the staff members about the food and it’s origin I was given a thorough explanation and we had a lovely chat about the village. I can’t wait to come back after lockdown, but for now we will have to make do with a takeaway! ❤️

Fantastic restaurant very comfortable & friendly staff. We just had to eat in while we still can so went to Jolsha, we had the buffet which is always value for the money with 4 courses. We were not disappointed it was all fantastic & would always recommend this place. We just love this place.Thank you Jolsha again

This restaurant is fantastic and I highly recommend you visit this fine restaurant. We have now visited 3 times and it is by far our favourite Indian restaurant. Food is fresh and made to order. Great restaurant tasty food. We went for dinner there was lots of choice had a really tasty cauliflower main in fact all the dishes were very enjoyable Highly recommended

Ordered a delivery at 6:50. When it hadn't arrived after an hour, we called the restaurant and was simply told 'we're busy' and 'it'll be there in 10 minutes'. It took repeated angry phone calls for them to send the food out. Eventually, they sent a WAITER in his car to drop the food off at 9:30, after I had called them three or four times. I am absolutely disgusted with the service, but also the attitude of the staff. This business is not run very well at all. As an aside, the food wasn't even that good. Mediocre and cold, after waiting two hours and forty minutes.

Having enjoyed dining in and collecting take aways from Norton for many years we were pleased they had started a delivery option and decided to make use of it. Expecting the restaurant to be busy on Saturday night we ordered at 6.50 with a stated 45 minute wait and were notified of an extra 15 minute delay which we agreed before the order went through. At 8.20 we called the restaurant and we had been waiting 1.5 hours and were told they had a new delivery driver and the food would be there very shortly. The restaurant was very loud and communication difficult. We called 2 further times after this and they finally sent a waiter with our food at 9.20! 2.5 hours after ordering. The food was cold, and not to the standard we are used to when we dine in or collect our orders. We were very very disappointed and whilst we would consider eating in, we certainly won’t be ordering a delivery again.

We took advantage of the eat out scheme courtesy of Boris! Booked an early table;5.30pm for me & my youngest daughter. Restaurant soon filled up as you would expect. Service was very good as was the food. Overall a great restaurant with good service and very nice food!

All food fresh good quality and delicious, excellent varied menu will definitely use again, excellent service and delivery on time aswell as nice and hot ready to eat

Visited Jolsha on a couple occasions whilst visiting the area on business.Staff here a friendly and inviting. Great to Mulligatawny soup on the starters menu which I ordered on both occasions - super tasty!Definitely suggest exploring the house specialties section of the menu. Look forward to visiting again next time I’m in the area.

The food is always delicious and the staff are super friendly, nothing is too much trouble. They have an extensive menu but will also make dishes tailored to your needs. I ordered takeaway food yesterday and the service was super efficient. I had paneer tikka massala, one of the nicest dishes I've had. Would definitely recommend.

We have had a couple of family take away meals from Jolsha during the lockdown period. As always the staff have been lovely and courteous and they have laid the restaurant out sensibly so that the social distancing is easy to follow. They also quote a realistic order time which can be up to an hour, as they have been busy, but when you turn up the food is as good as ready. The food has been exceptional, as good as eating inside. They are also offering an in-house delivery service too, just ask when you call, also they use deliveroo. One of our favorites is Gurkha Tikka Massala (Chicken Tikka, mince lamb, in a thick rich sauce - delish) This restaurant is very friendly, clean and accommodating

Went for my daughters birthday 5 of us, usual lovely ambience & friendly staff it took a while to place our orders & to get a drink but we wernt in any rush.We all had the banquet, the food was fantastic as usual however we all got plain nans when we ordered garlic & a side order never arrived, they did realise but we told them not to bother as we had eaten a lot of our meals. they did ammend the bill so no issues.

Went last night with my husband we had the banquet, very good value for money, excellent food and very friendly experienced staff.We asked for one of the curries to be more spicy and it was not a problem, my husband best curry he had in a long time.We go quite often and will continue best curry house in Teesside.

Went for a meal for valentines and was so disappointed. We are regular visitors and have always had brilliant service and food. However not tonight. Took ages to get served and couldn't eat it when it came. So ask to take it home and this was agreed. We sat (again) for ages waiting and it never came. When they came over to settle bill, we paid and told them what happened. He apolgised but made no attempt to go and get it so we left without the take out and paid a lot of money for the pleasure of not eating. Won't be returning in a hurry. Think they should think of their regulars as its us that keeps the restaurant going.

I’d just like to say thank you for the amazing food and service we received when 6 of us went for a meal last night to celebrate my partners 30th birthday. The service was excellent all of the staff were friendly and attentive and the food was amazing! The Wednesday banquet offer was excellent value and i would definitely return without a doubt. We as a family have used both jolsha restaurants for years, the Marton 1 as its closer to me but I try to get to the Norton 1 as its the better food. I booked a table of 14 tonight for my daughters 12th birthday and I'm so very disappointed with the customer service. I was ordering like I always do for the majority of us, I ordered 4 banquets, however like I do every time I go I asked if the starters could be brought out with the mains as me and my children like to have the chicken tikka with the chips and rice to be told no it's a starter and comes before the main, this has never happened so I explained how we normally get it like that from there, then didn't even let me finish my order to go onto someone else while trying to walk off and kept concentrating on the people coming in the door. Like I've booked my table, your taking my order so don't be rude! Then he finally came around and said that's everything I said no can I finish my order. He then went on to taking the menus from us and snatched 1 from my sisters hand, she wasn't very impressed at all. In the end the starters came out with the mains like always but there was no need for the rudeness. Everyone at the table mentioned the rudeness too. We normally give good tips to both restaurants and are in quite alot and this time didn't give a tip. Maybe try looking after your loyal customers instead of focusing on what's happening at the door with the next lot coming in!

Lovely meal as always. Polite and courteous service. Food arrived quickly, temperature perfect. Visited on banquet night which is such good value for money. Garlic Naan breads are so nice and light with no grease at all. Staff are friendly and will recommend the best dishes for you to try. Chicken is pure white all the way through, really good quality meat. Best Indian in Teesside.

Never disappointed with Jolsha We went for the banquet on sunday & had a lovely time, the service & staff are good in very nice surroundings & the food is fantastic in a relaxing friendly restaurant.

So ordered here on new years eve for collection. Let me start first by saying i understand it's busy and people are going to be rushing around, however i arrived roughly an hour after ordering as they said this would be collection time. After standing in the queue i was the only one left waiting but seemed to keep getting ignored whilst standing and waiting trying to catch the attention of the lady behind the bar but she seemed a lot more interested in taking telephone orders. After waiting for around 15 minutes i got sick and actually had to grab one of the passing waiters to say all i want to is collect my order, which he then went missing. I then got asked another 2 times who my order was for and even helped find the receipt. I waited another 15 minutes or so until the order finally came out and the lady gave me a little bottle of cobra as way of apologising. When i got home after the less than 5 minute drive the food was barely luke warm meaning it had just been sat out the back waiting for probably the whole time i was there. Food itself was nice just borderline cold thats why the extra star has been given, unsure of returning here again as previous order there was also a few issues.

I just had to write a review on how outstanding the service and quality of food we have received every time we have visited.

We no longer live close by but always travel here if we have Indian food. It is delicious food and the staff always make such a big effort. We love it!

First time visit to this restaurant after being highly recommended. The decor is lovely, fresh and clean and atmosphere also very good. The overall experience was very good but i have to mention the naan bread which was the best i have ever had. So soft without being doughy and the saag aloo was also very good. Had lamb and chicken curry with veg pilau rice and all was very tasty and the lamb very tender. We passed our comments onto the chef who came out to thank us which i though was really nice touch. Overall i would highly recommend this restaurant and will be visiting again.

First visit to Jolsha and we weren't disappointed. Lovely starters - mixed kebab and lamb tikka and lovely main courses which were perfectly cooked. Would have given 5 out of 5 but for the ambience, it's a bit cramped and the lighting is way too bright, all said I would definitely visit again.

Eaten here many times the food is always good, but the last time we were in it was busy and were upstairs and they seemed to get a few tables orders mixed up including ours. But it’s still a good place to eat..

I have visited Jolsha restaurant for several times. The food was great, its always served hot and delicious. When im craving for curry, Jolsha its always my top choice. The staff was attentive. The ambience of the restaurant also pretty good, its a great place to dine for couple, friends, and family. Will come back again for sure.

Been eating here for years with no complaints at all.

Been coming here for years.. Our son, now 4 year old loves it, he always asks for mixed kebab starter. Recently I recalled a dish I used to enjoy at other restaurants called Lamb Channa Korai.. basically Lamb with chickpeas in a rich sauce, served in a hot korai.. the waiter was kind enough to ask the chef to make it for me, and it was fabulous.. the lamb was very tender indeed.. this restaurant is very friendly, clean and accommodating

We visited Jolsha on a busy Saturday bank holiday weekend evening, we'd booked a table ahead but were running a little late and the restaurant were very good when we called to say we'd be a little late.

I've been going to jolsha for years. Great food and atmosphe. Not only do I go with the wife but also the lads.

I live in birmingham so ive had a lot of lovely indian food.

Had a night out in norton few beers and decided to visit this Indian restaurant so glad we did the staff were first class very attentive and service very good drinks and starter were very quick great service we were not sure what to eat so asked for some advice the waiter asked us what type of food we liked and gave us both ideas of what we would enjoy both our meals were tasty spiced and delicious exactly what we liked so helpful and made our visit special can’t praise these staff enough great meal great service and a decent price too we will be back for sure thanks

After having a couple of takeaways here over the years I finally ate in for my birthday with some friends. Service was prompt and very friendly, prices are very reasonable and food was great. Would highly recommend.

I visited Jolsha last night with two friends. We needed a vegan option and the staff were amazing and adapted the usual dish that I have to suit – without the cream.

Went for food after a few beers round norton, been a few times now and the food is always spot, reasonably priced as well. Also on a Sunday and Wednesday they do 4 course for £10.95 which is good value and enough choice.

we were warmly greeted and shown to a lovely clean table , set in a beautiful setting , we got prompt friendly service all night . the food was fantastic , and nothing was too much trouble , the owner came over to check we were getting treat well , and to ask if there was anything he could do to make our visit better . first class service in my book.. our waiter was polite , and very knowledgeable about the full menu , we even left on first name terms , his name was Litton , and he gave us the best service you could ask for . in this day and age I was so pleased we chose the 15 mile drive to try this place , it was well worth it. first class.

As a family we love having a curry even our seven year old. But over the years we've been disheartened by the lack of authentic flavours. So we decided to go to the Jolsha. I chose the Xakuti Murgh (chicken)

Use this place on a regular basis, always good and always excellent service. Will continue to use. Good quality Indian food and a very nice vibe.

Enjoyed our monthly curry night at the Norton restaurant- I had the sea bass fish dish on the specials menu this was top class and beautifully presented and very tasty. The others in the group enjoyed their food too and we will go back soon . Enjoyed the Middlesbrough Jolsha too recently.

We had an evening meal at Jolsha and found the staff and the setting, and of course the meal to be of a wonderful standard. We will definitely be back, thank you to all the staff!

Me and my family have visited jolsha for years, celebrating lots of occasions here. We recently visited for my nanas 70th birthday and were not disappointed at all. As always the food was delicious. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly. I had the chicken tikka masala and also tried a few other dishes which were stunning. Thanks Jolsha!

This is among the best Bangladeshi restaurants we have ever dined in. We live in the midlands and are visiting the north east and discovered this gem by chance. Great food and fabulous front of house service. Not to be missed!!

Came here last night, what can I say, place was lovely, staff was lovely and food was lovely! Portions was plenty and very reasonably priced, most definitely be back.

We went here on saturday tea time, I ordered a rack of lamb and my hubby ordered a curry, my rack of lamb turned out to be 5 small pieces of dried tough lamb. I ordered chips with it, the waiter came over never acknowledged us just took our plates away whilst I was still eating the chips. Will not be going back

We came here for the first time from Birmingham and my mother in law took us here. The food wasnt great. Quite bland. There wasnt much choice in the menu either. We had better food elsewhere. The food was cold and not hot or even spicy. Service was very slow. We wont be back here.

Had a couple of drinks in the pubs in Norton High Street first, then went into Jolsha. Menus given to us straight away and drinks ordered, the popodams for starters were very light and crisp. The food was very tasty and service was very good, we will return again

Visited with friends and apart from one of us it was our first time. Cannot fault the food or the service. A delicious meal enjoyed by all of us.

Me and my girlfriend often go here,the food is amazing,some of the best if not the best Indian food we have ever tasted. The staff are so welcoming and look after you from the moment you arrive until you leave. We often go on a Wednesday when they have a nice meal deal on where you get starters,curry,rice,poppadoms,naans and a selection of sauces and salad to go with it for just around £10 each and the portion sizes are very generous. I highly recommend that you visit here you will not be disappointed,i know we aren’t!.

Heard such good things about this place so decided to visit ourselves. On arrival we were pleasantly greeted and showed to our table. Our drinks order was taking and brought over aswell as popadoms and dips. Our food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering, it wa absolutely beautiful food and plenty of it., I had dupiaza, hubby had korma, rice, breads and sag aloo. The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated. All the staff who we spoke to were polite and not intrusive. Definitely go again soon.

Heard good things about this restaurant so thought we would give it a try. Food was fine however the attitude of all of the staff (besides one young boy) was absolutely horrendous. Very negligent and rude from the start, we were sat at a table and didn’t receive menus or were asked if we wanted a drink for AT LEAST 20 minutes. Tried to get their attention multiple times but were clearly being ignored and avoided.

Very nicely decorated and extremly clean . Manager was very friendly and we got good service. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Not too expensive either.

Just been in this evening. Fortunately there wasn't many folk in at 18:30 so we got seated straight away. Looked after, drinks ordered, food ordered, wine bought, eaten drank paid for... absolutely sublime. The staff were incredible and looking after our needs like we were royalty. The only thing they didn't do was pay for it!

Went on the Sunday night 4 course banquet. Excellent food, perfect service and great value for money. Immaculately clean and staff always helpful and polite. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We stopped here on the off chance as my wife and I fancied an Indian and were very pleasantly suprised. As it was a Sunday they had a 4 course meal for £10:95 per person which we felt was very good value. The service and food was excellent, I had condoments with pappadoms, onion baji for starter, chicken tikka madras (outstanding flavour) and vegetable pilau . My wife had garlic mushrooms in breadcrumbs, land madras and mushroom pilau. All in all it was a very enjoyable off the cuff meal and we will certainly be back.

We have just come back from an indian meal for 25 people. The staff were attentive and very professional. Service was excellent. All the meals arrived together and were very good.

We visited early doors, very friendly service and the food was good. The chef even catered for a meal that wasn’t on the menu so thank you.

Had another great night at Jolsha, shared with friends from Hemlington who are regulars at the Boro branch. Great service as always from the guys and great food. Already looking forward to our next visit.

I used to use this place quite a lot but had a poor meal in January and decided to go elsewhere! Thought I would see if it had improved so had a takeaway- sorry but it’s not a place I will go back to!

Well, WOW! The food is amazing. The staff are excellent. The prices - well, the overall experience was thoroughly worth it. Till the next time!
