Amazing food - great customer service - would travel to get this top notch food

Having chosen to eat less meat and very selective about how my fish is cooked- I can thoroughly recommend the Masala fish and chips. When I stop coming ,they have failed !! Still here! I can also recommend the vegetable samosa - 2 for £ 1.80

best fish and chips I've had for a long time

I have been visiting this place for past few years now. The staff are very friendly always go above and beyond and the masala fish makes us keep coming back for more and more. The sides are delicious too. Even my picky 7 year old loves the food . I will highly recommend them.

A good range of vegan/non-vegan food, helpful and welcoming staff especially Amjad bhai and Umar bhai, would highly recommend jolly rogers.

The food is so good, one of the best chippy's I've been too in sometime, hence why I go often when I'm in the office. The price is great and the size of the fish is a good size and chips are always fresh. I also get the homemade sauce and it has the right amount of spice and amazing flavours.. You won't be disappointed ordering from the Jolly Rogers!

All I can say is wow! I am visiting from Toronto Canada and have come to Manchester many times and tried maybe fish and chips shops but, this is the absolute best I have had! Not only is the food amazing but the owner is lovely! Thank you for being so welcoming!

So I went to this place last week as I’ve heard positive reviews about their Fish & Chips. I decided to order Masala Fish with chips and it costed around £10 as I also added a drink with my order. The order was ready in around 7-9 minutes as I was told they cook fresh. The portion size was Great and the Fish tasted really fresh - loved their special sauce. A good experience overall - would definitely recommend to anyone 👌🏼👌🏼

Been a fan of Chicken N Chips from Rochdale. Didn't realise this hidden gem does the best chicken n chips. Have had the masala fish meal from here which is absolutely fantastic. Beautiful clean space to sit and excellent service with a smile. Not like your regular miserable takeaways.

Just ordered through just eat and not amused the chips were hard and ordered sausages they were not edible they were over a days old the curry sauce was clumpy and the fish for three orders was cold over 35 pound spent and non of its been eaten

Visiting from GERMANY we decided to eat there based on their positive feedback. We certainly weren't disappointed! Very hard-working, polite and friendly staff and really tasty and filling fish 'n' chips. Highly recommendable!

Gave the 'Chicken Steak Burger a whirl' to see what it even was. It's basically a processed chicken burger. It was on a buy one get one free offer, so I got what I paid for there. Also tried the scallops with the sauce. Now this was an interesting one. It looked really odd, but have to admit the flavour was quite nice. I think maybe I'd try it again but wouldn't choose the chick steak burger again.

Very good food One of the best chip shops with a unique twist. Extra soft muffins and tasty curry/gravy. Chips were also thick and chunky. Not greasy at all. Good selection range and good service from the gentleman who work there.

Its very unusual when you come across a good fish & chips shop thats made by Asians but this place is that one👌 Great location in cheetham hill and the food is very tasty, price affordable and portions are spot on. I have to say the samosas with imli sauce are a must absolutely loved it went for the large portion as seen in the picture. Also got the masala fish an chips and the jolly Rogers special burger an chips which was also very nice fresh an tasty. I've now been on multiple occasions an the food is always freshly made, I can now add that the fish an chips with curry sauce an peas is also top notch. Also try the battered sausage if you like that kind of thing and the steak an onion 🥧 pies are heavenly. Big thumbs up for me if you want some good food. 👍

The service of this place is absolutely rubbish. They over charge you if you don’t watch the price and also refused to give me what I paid for. I ordered the masala fish as a meal. You would think a meal consist of the the food and drink right???? Well he charged me for it but refused to give my drink. When I asked him where is was he said it was a policy they changed two days ago? I checked online and the meal does include a drink. They basically robbed me. Not very halal of them. Don’t buy food from here.

Told them about the chips that were toasted and clearly over cooked and the manager came across as extremely rude and argumentative. It became evident during the interaction this person had no customer service or etiquette. Tried giving constructive feedback as there clearly was a training issue but this was quickly dismissed. They can't even get the basics of their core product right. I can prepare better chips in the oven.

Used to love going here but the owner has stopped giving generous portions and has gone stingy so won't be going here again. Staff said it's because the price of potatoes has gone up what has that got to do with portions size going down??!! I hope the owner sees sense or closes shop.

I’ve tried Jolly’s a few times and staff have always been friendly and helpful. The decor is clean and modern, and usually there is always room to eat in. The chips are proper chippy chips and I really like the sausages (honestly you can’t tell a huge difference between the original pork sausages usually sold in chippys to this chicken one). Now my only complaint is whenever I eat the donner chicken tandy mix, I always have horrendous stomach ache the next day to the point I no longer order it as it’s happened on 3 separate occasions. I’m not sure if it’s the temperature controls or the sauce used, but I eat extremely spicy food regularly, so it can’t be down to the spice. Overall I’d use jolly’s when I’m craving a chippy dinner but I’d go elsewhere along Cheetham hill for a kebab!

This was easily one of the best fish & chips joints i’ve been to in a long time! Food was great and service was excellent. And best part; halal! The staff were kind enough to recommend us some of the spicy stuff because they knew we were from Malaysia! Me and my dad got the spicy one and the regular fish & chips. Portion was very generous and the size of the fish was wham. To any of my Malaysian brothers and sisters out there (and or from other countries) who will be visiting Manchester, give this place a shot! Will come back soon insyaAllah

I've ordered takeaways before from this place , unfortunately tonight it was a disappointment. I accepted the delay for the food due to traffic from the event at Heaton Park , what I didn't expect was a small portion of chips that was £4.50 , I ordered large chips as the portion is also quite good to share with my kids. The packaging was poor compared to the usual cardboard boxes the food is usually put in , I actually thought I ordered kids meals as the portion size was so small for the Burger and Chips as well. I was left extremely disappointed with my meals I ordered.

Not tried this place before and food was overall okay. The masala fish and chips was a recommended option although if you tried bannies in Lancashire, this may be found slightly wanting. The red Donner was on point, not too dry. The Thandi was very nice although I would advise if getting it possibly to have the sauces separately, whilst the combination is great, it can be somewhat drowned. Was slightly skeptical initially as the place looked fairly quiet but as we were there, many people were coming to get takeouts and overall seemed good. Price-wise it's average I suppose for most in the area - middle of the road rather than bargain basement. Seating is okay - tables are like Diber style. Must however say that the service and the friendly nature of the stuff was a very positive experience and encourages you to go back.

Halal sausage? Are you kidding me ? I will certainly boycott the place at all. Sausage is made out of pork so not halal whatsoever. In Rome do like the Romans. I certainly not want your substitute made with I don't know what nor I want anything halal in Britain for the animal crualty this backward slaughter method use. Multicultural? Funny it s always the same lot trying to impose their culture. If I wanted halal I would not have moved to Britain. Multicultural you said ? Then make couscous with sausage.... I ll definitely boycott the place for all those reasons.

I visited yesterday to open my iftari and this is the best chippy I have come across. I found this little gem hidden away. So fresh, clean and tasty. I would highly recommend.
