Ezra & Gil in Manchester

Went for the first time today and was disappointed. Received my food which was as pictured, but the empty piece of toast was hidden under the other one. I actually couldn’t believe this was it, and I asked the staff if this is how it’s supposed to be, and they said “yes” and asked me if I wanted to BUY anything extras. Honestly shocking for £12+ and would never come here again or recommend it to anyone else based on this experience. Very stingy portions for such a high price, and they of course make you pay before you eat so you can’t even dispute it.

Cosy place in the corner of Hilton and Newton Street. Had a pleasant smile and greet from Abbi who was very helpful throughout our breakfast. On our first time but our last day in Manchester and had an excellent breakfast for the ride to London. Awesome service from Abbi who was very attentive and so cheerful. A truly excellent breakfast place.

Visiting Manchester and went to this cute, quaint little place. The food was great. Ambiance perfect for our group of 7. Staff was attentive and friendly too. Would definitely recommend!!

Hands down the best brunch place in Manchester. We dropped by for coffee, and the flat white was executed perfectly. Coming back again for a proper sitdown, my sandwich was decadent. Plating for my fellow diners, such as the avo and toast, was a feast to the eyes. Service was prompt and pro, with a buzzing ambiance that befits a busy cafe. E&G is worth lining up for.

When Im stuck for lunch ideas this is place I suggest/default to as they offer a variety of delicious meals, are generally well-priced and portioned, and are friendly and admirably efficient in service. It's popular for a reason. Don't be put off by long queues as the staff are amazing at getting people in and keeping you informed about wait times. My only "complaint" would be that I had the granola bowl once and it wasn't as generously proportioned as the other meals I've had from there, but that could've been a one-off.

Went for breakfast at the weekend as heard so many good reviews. A small queue when we got there which cleared really fast. Abbie greeted us at the door and was so helpful and welcoming. Food was amazing, would recommend ordering the French toast to share alongside another dish.

Lovely brunch in a restaurant that is very dog friendly: we have a ridgeback (slightly smaller than a great dane) & they were very accepting of our big boy. Quick service. Recommended.

I've been going to Ezra for years and always get my daily coffee from there. The customer service is great, particularly from Kate. Always super friendly and service with a smile! The food is also 10/10 and is pretty reasonably priced.

Great food, fantastic service, Abbi went over and over to make us feel welcome. We loved the decor and the atmosphere of the place. We will definitely be back.

Such a lovely find and brilliant place for brunch. We visited on a busy Saturday and were seated almost immediately. We went for 1 veggie breakfast and 1 brioche French toast to share between us and both were so delicious and filling- the portions are VERY generous. The iced matcha and latte were also lovely. We liked them so much we got them again for takeaway on the way out! Had to go up to the counter and order and the queue was fairly long but service was quick once we ordered and all the servers are very friendly and helpful. Everyone is very attentive towards allergies and are great with checking in throughout the meal. It’s a really cosy vibe inside with plenty of tables and delicious food. Definitely recommend visiting here.

First time at Ezra & Gil. Staff were attentive and welcoming. Got the English breakfast (minus the sausages) and for its replacement the chef increased the portion of eggs and mushrooms. Tasted great! Clean tables, chairs and clean cutlery. Everything was sanitary - things I look out for.

We just love going here. It is always buzzing. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great and the staff are extremely efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Great tasting breakfast. The butter on the toast was amazing and left an pasting aftertaste. Eggs were cooked perfectly too Service was fast and prices are reasonable. Expect to spend between £8-13 for a meal here

Came for brunch this morning and have to do a special shout out to Abbi, who was so accommodating and lovely! I'm 35 weeks pregnant and she went above and beyond and even though it was so busy, she found me somewhere to sit whilst waiting and even made sure I got a suitable table plus providing service with a smile! The food and coffee was fab too!

Depending on the day and time either it is very comfy or you may have to wait but the people are helpful and nice and the food is really good and there are vegan options

I genuinely don't understand what the fuss is about - service was non existent ( no check back on food, no greeting when coming in or leaving), coffee tasted bitter and burnt - nearly £4 for me literally to take a sip and leave the rest. . Also coffee arrived when I was halfway finished with the food . Feels like this is one of those places that looks hip enough for you to go in and then they just take your money and don't care about your experience. Only reason why this is a 2-star review is that the food was lovely.

Great spot! One of my new favourite brunch locations in the Northern Quarter. Staff were all friendly and helpful, particularly Lucia who served us. Will definitely be visiting again 🙂

Visited Ezra & Gil whilst showing my friend round Manchester on Saturday morning, He's from Madrid and was excited to explore Manchester. The queue was out the door and I told him it would be worth the wait. We were greeted by Jack who explained that there would be a 5 minute wait, and upon conversating with my friend, Jack noticed his Spanish accent and proceeded to converse with him in Spanish. Switching between both languages fluently he informed us on some of the best places to visit in the city as he himself had only just moved here. After a few minutes of waiting we were seated and was ran through the ordering procedure in Spanish as I had made it aware I had been there many times before. This small act made my friend feel very relaxed and welcome in the venue. Once settled we both opted for a sausage sandwich and caramel latte and ordered at the counter. We were greeted by a welcoming and engaging member of staff who asked if we had any allergies before proceeding with our order. The food arrived and was exceptional, we were checked in on by Jack and was told more about places to check out in-between his table service, really taking the time out to make us both feel welcomed. Every member of staff was immaculately presented and all contributed to the wonderful atmosphere in the establishment. We plan on visiting again before my friend heads back to Spain. Would highly recommend Ezra & Gil.

I was in town mid week and decided to come to Ezra and Gil for some brunch. The atmosphere is great and it’s really comfortable for a solo diner! The fresh orange juice was a real treat and the veggie sandwich had a lot of flavour! What made the place most was the staff. Lucia was really friendly and we got chatting which was nice considering I was on my own! Thanks for a great experience.

Went for brunch today at Ezra & Gil (Helper and Happiness) Hilton Street Manchester. Our server was Kate, she was very helpful and let us change scrambled eggs for poached on 1 of the brunch orders. We asked for the drinks to come with the food so you don't get the drinks first, and then have to order more she was very concerned if we had any allergies, which was excellent. We ordered French toast which was amazing, and 2 breakfasts, the scrambled eggs were the best my wife has ever had and my poached eggs were nice and runny, the food came quickly and was very well cooked and hot Dog friendly always a bonus, lots of high chairs were also available for young families, great mix of customers, both old and young, you can also buy their products , coffee beans and bread, takeaway also available, recommend checking this establishment out, you can also get alcohol .

We came in when it was super busy, but Rhys was awesome at the door and made us feel welcome. We had been given some great recommendations for places to eat around the area. However glad we had chosen to come here. Lucia made us two of the best flat whites we’ve ever had! The food was a bit pricey, though.

Delicious food! The mushroom and tarragon soup was supreme! The fresh squeezed Orange juice was awesome! The halloumi and fresh peppers salad was divine! We really enjoyed the food and music. Abbi and Alex took care of us. Both were attentive, professional, friendly and helpful. Abbi helped us with advice on how to navigate the city a bitbetter (we are tourists) and she’s very nice. Highly recommend this restaurant. Also, the granola with yogurt and fresh berries was out of this world amazing. Excellent kitchen staff!! Thank you!! Nourishing food that is so yummy!!

I really enjoyed my visit today, being warmely greeted by the wonderful Laura & Kate. I was unsure on what menu items I would like, they helped me settle on the Nduja eggs which were excellent!! I will be back asap

Classic British breakfast. Great atmosphere. Staff are extremely friendly. Please make sure coming for breakfast before 10am on Sunday. Otherwise there will be a long queue.

Truly the best coffee and best brunch in an area with nearly a hundred to choose from. It's so competitive and yet E&G is the best for me. The food varied and delicious. The drinks are brilliant and comforting. The staff are always excellent. I have had special meals with special people here and hope to do so again. I think she is a barista or maybe a manager but Kate was so kind, I came in when it was not so busy and she talked to me lots and recommended items from the menus. The poke was delicious! A great asset to a brilliant team and cafe

Best breakfast and brunch in Manchester. Love the sausage sandwich, it’s the best in MCR and coffee is epic. Nice vibe. Friendly staff and dog friendly, I take all my friends when they visit. Now have a second site on Peter Street.

Needing a cup of tea and a cake we spotted Ezra & Gil. Positives: Nice atmosphere and tea served in teapots and my husband's sticky toffee cake he said was delicious. Negative: There not being a lot of choice of cakes - everything was really over sweet looking or chocolate - I went for the cinnamon bun, which was a mistake. Really stodgy, I could only eat a very small portion of it. I almost wondered if it hadn't had it's required proving time to make the dough light and airy. Ezra & Gil is obviously a popular meeting spot in town so maybe I was unlucky with my bun.

Atmosphere is super cozy and all the food looks incredible. Had the brioche French toast- amazing! Only downside is that seating for larger groups can be an issue at this place, so keep in mind that you might get split up and seated at separate tables.

The food is simply not worth the wait, especially when there are so many other options nearby. Quite disappointed that the food (poached egg on toast and BBQ chicken on sourdough) and coffee was so sub-par after such a wait. As well as the fact that there wasn’t even table service which already adds to to business near the front of the restaurant (where people were waiting for tables). Props to the staff though who are good at getting people seated and keeping people informed on waiting times etc

The food was spectacular. A lot of variety and different products. I didn't know you could make a dish as normal as scrambled eggs and have it taste so different. The special Christmas Matcha tea was incredible, I had never tried one so delicious.

It was my first time visiting and it definitely will not be my last! Me & my partner were seated quickly with a warm welcome and explained the menu and how to order. The bloody Mary’s were to die for, possibly the best I’ve ever had! The food was fresh and delicious and always served with a smile, worth every penny!

Bit of a wait to get in , staff was very friendly. Very loud inside the food was okay, I ordered the poke style chicken bowl ,was pretty bland and had a lot of mayo.

Can’t comment on the food because we never got the chance to eat any. We came in on a not-too-busy Friday morning and asked for a table for a group of 6. We were told to wait 10/15 minutes which was no issue, until the server asked “can you wait outside please?”. The restaurant was not busy, we were not in the way and it was 4 degrees outside. We waited patiently almost 25 minutes and then were told our table was ready. BUT as we went to sit down the server told us “every Friday morning we have a fire alarm between 10:50-11, so in 5 minutes you’ll have to stand outside for 10 minutes, and we can’t take anymore orders until we come back”. I honestly thought I was on a hidden camera show. There were people halfway through their food and about 2/3 babies asleep, the idea of running a fire drill and getting everyone to stand outside is bizarre, not to mention we were only told about this right when we sat down. We left and went to Evelyns instead 4 minutes down the street, and had a 10/10 breakfast. Very bizarre.

It has a cute, pleasant atmosphere on the street. The menu is delicious and rich⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Vegan options are available. There is no parking. It is very busy on Sundays so it is difficult to find a place. I recommend you go early. No reservation required.

Everything was very good, the atmosphere was very cozy.

The food and the coffee were good, but expensive for what you get on the plate. The main reason for the review was I was told after 75 minutes that I would have to leave after 90 minutes to make way for other customers. This was not communicated when I was seated and happened 15 minutes after I went to the counter and purchased my second coffee, a mince pie and a mineral water. I appreciate small businesses (unsure if i’d still classify as small- becoming a buit of a chain) can’t have people squatting all day nursing a single drink but i’d spent at least £25 by this point and was occupying a single stool doing some work / life admin on my laptop. In future, I will take my business elsewhere where staff aren’t timing me.

Service and food were very good. Small queue outside. They said we’d be waiting 20-30mins but was only 5 mins. You have a 90 min slot which is plenty if time. Would recommend and would come back

Varied menu. Little variety of drinks. There are no fried eggs. Quality at a good price. Efficient service. Typical space with good taste. Modern atmosphere. It fills up fast. Good location. It's worth it.

I ordered avocado on toast (trying to be healthy) it cost me and whopping 16 pounds, 😬 food was nice but was it worth 16 quid. 🙅🏼nope! I mean other than that, nice place 👍🏼

They were very rude and unhygienic i had a hair in my drink. Also they replaced us bc of some silly reason bc we checked something on our phone Also the coffee was way too hot

They where a dog inside and they brought us the wrong drink in the beginning and the manager was sooo rude

Visitado ayer a la hora del almuerzo. Increíble comida y servicio. Tuve huevos Benedict y mi marido tuvo el desayuno completo. La comida llegó rápido, pero se notaba que estaba recién hecho. Platos despejados después de haber comido, pero no se sintió apresurado en absoluto. Definitivamente volveré.

Maybe I am not used to big city with busy cafes, but since the first minute I was sat down, I felt rushed at every single opportunity. It was really unnecessary to be this pushy. The food was good. Coffee at most average. The overall atmosphere was cosy with dimmed lights.

The food is great and the staff on the floor are really nice. However one of the staff members behind the till has a bad attitude. She sounded foreign with a brunette short bob haircut and not in uniform.

Great cafe, we only tried the coffee and smoothie as we had come after we'd eaten breakfast. The vibe of this place was great, nice place to meet up with friends or get some work done

I order the Sausage Ragu the pasta was undercooked, sauce was really bland the mozzarella bringing the most flavour for £13 was really disappointing. Other stuff was okayish. Couldn’t really ask for it to be remade as staff seemed busy.

What a nice place to come, have breakfast and relax. This is my first time here and it was a nice ambiance. The food and coffee were amazing. We had the pleasure of having Kate and Laura assist us. They were very attentive. I definitely recommend this place if you’re ever in to Manchester.

Super Smashing Great Lovely food and drinks and cake . I haven't been this pleased since I won a speedboat, which as I was living in the west Midlands at the time and it was over 100 miles to the sea, I was still happy. (It sunk within the first hour due to floating WW2 German sea anti shipping mine).😕

The design is perfect, the concept is perfect the presentation is perfect. Despite the fact that they’re busy especially on a Sunday, the waiting time for your food is short. The coffee is good (most coffees in Manchester tastes stronger compared to London but this place was good!) I’d say this place is a must visit if in Manchester!

Dog friendly! Brunch for two and our dog. Simple dishes done very well. 👌🏼 Breakfast bowl of sweet potatoes, avocado and tomatoes. Kiddo had avocado on toast. Couple of coffees, extra toast with marmalade and orange juice. A wee bit pricey at £44 but defo very good quality.

Took my parents here who were visiting for the first time on Friday morning, they were so impressed they insisted we returned and queued on Saturday. To be fair to them it is absolutely outstanding. The food, the service, the coffees, being able to see all of the fresh and delicious stock inside, I could happily eat here every day and not be bored of it. I’ve seen a few negative comments about the 90 minutes table time, we we seated, ordered, ate, and chatted within 40 minutes at peak Saturday morning hours. If you can’t do this with an additional 50 minutes you are the problem. One very small criticism, I would have liked an extra slice of sourdough under my ham Benedict to soak up the runny yolk!

I was recommended to go to this place to have breakfast and I loved it! I had smashed avocado on sourdough toast and a coconut matcha drink. It was really good, the best way to start that rainy day. The emplyee who welcomed me made me feel safe and comfy, and the atmosphere of the place was just chilly and I loved it.

Didn't expect to queue for around 30 minutes even though I got there before 11am; also didn't know there was a 1.5 hour time limit. Food was ok but it wasn't as much of a variety and £13 for full breakfast (I asked not to have mushrooms so got given two extra toasts instead) was a bit over priced..

Scrumptious food! A bit of a wait, but it was worth it.

The atmosphere is great and the servers are nice but I personally wouldn’t recommend the Brioche French Toast in its current state. Even for a sweet tooth this was too too much. There was so much chocolate and Carmel, both on and around the toast. With the added mascarpone and caramel chips I couldn’t eat this dish as served and had to scrape off a significant portion of the toppings which just felt wasteful. The toast itself was fine, perhaps a little underdone for my tastes. They have lots of other options that seem great but for £13 I expected a better balanced dish.

Nice coffee. Food is nothing special - got the nduja eggs which were nice enough but didn’t taste like they had any nduja in them. The man (seemed like the manager?) who was dressed in the pink/red patterned shirt and was making coffees and serving food on Sunday 13 Oct was rude. He also used the toilets before me, left the seat up, and didn’t wash his hands! Gross! The rest of the staff were lovely.

You may well have to wait but it’ll be worth it. Friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere. A nice window seat for couples but a range of seating for larger groups too. The food is the main event but drinks - juices and coffee - are exquisite too. I really enjoyed the chorizo and sweet potato hash Benedict which was on sourdough and topped with perfectly poached eggs. Enjoy!
