Really lovely place for breakfast/brunch, friendly staff and great service

Ezra & Gil is a very nice place with a good atmosphere and a regular crowd it's l located in The Northern Quarter close to Piccadilly Gardens.the staff were very good and the coffee was excellent.i didn't try the food but it looks good.ir looks like it gets very busy at the weekend.

Breakfast great . Beth served us She was amazing 🤩.

Only 2nd time visiting here as we don't get to Manchester much. This is THE place to go to for French Toast! The BEST French toast EVER!! Also do other dishes, which have all been excellent 👌

Lovely atmosphere and staff rather expensive but worth it

Fresh orange juice was beautiful and staff friendly with good atmosphere. However, the vegan breakfast was hugely disappointing, no flavour at all and ingredients didn't work together. Would not recommend this breakfast.

Lovely place to drink and eat! Great food, decent value for money and the food is always bang on. It can get a little busy so queuing might be necessary on weekends. You also have the option to get a table where you can work with a laptop too. Overall, excellent!

Had to queue to get in on a Sat morning for breakfast but it was very definitely worth it. Simple, straight forwards food and drinks served well and quickly.

Me and my partner visited Ezra & Gill on Peter Street. Beth took us to our table, she was very friendly and helpful. She had a great knowledge of the menu and when asked, could advise what the best food was! The cafe got quite busy but Beth managed to get everyone seated very quickly.

We had a completely bizarre experience here last weekend. Sunday morning, having checked out of our hotel we decided to head to Ezra & Gil as recommended by the hotel staff. A 10% discount would be applied to our bill. We arrived at around 8.15 to a nice quite cafe with four occupied tables, excited because of all the good reviews. The manager offers us a table adjoining the only other couple in the room. 'Errr... could we possibly sit at the window instead?' 'Do you have a tablet?' 'No.' 'Well the window seats are reserved for people working with tablets.' This was 8.15 on a Sunday morning. The cafe was empty. We were finally directed towards another table not directly in earshot of the next couple. 'You have 90 minutes until we'll need the table back from you.' '....' Food was ordered at the counter. I asked for the 10% hotel discount to be applied before ordering. 'Do you have your room key?' 'Well, no because we've just checked out....' 'We need to see your room key.' 'Errrr.... I've got a confirmation email, will that do?' The manager comes over. 'Yes the email will be fine.' I order food, two coffees and pay. My transaction goes through and I scan the receipt. No discount has been applied. '... Is it possible to refund the discount?' 'I'm not sure, I'll ask the manager.' Manager comes back over. 'No, we can't do that.' 'Really?' 'But I can give you a coffee instead' 'I've just paid for two coffees. I don't want another coffee.' 'Or a CAKE! Givehimacakewhatcakewouldyoulike?' 'Errr...' I took the cake and sat down. The food was fine. The coffee was burnt. The room absolutely stank of vinegar. Their 'Classic E&G Breakfast' is really just a Full English with the bacon removed. But you can have it back for £3.50. I've never had such an odd and unnecessarily difficult breakfast. Go to Federal instead. Nicer staff, warmer food, free hot chocolate and umbrellas if you're queuing in the rain.

Really tasty and great menu as well as pastries and cookies! Went for the full english and Eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict was on the smaller side, but would definitely recommend. Overall great selection of sweet and savory options - as it’s self service and can get very crowded, we’d recommend planning in time. Personal highlight: the coffee was really good and the Biscoff cookie unforgettable!!

We were in Manchester for one day/night as we were there for an event. We found out about this place via ticktok & google for “best places to eat breakfast in Manchester” Tbh it didn’t really meet our expectations. 🤷🏻‍♂️ -The food was good, but the portion isn’t that big for the price. -1hr 30 mins max stay, though this didn’t bother us it is worth noting. -No table service, again not really a problem for us but may be for some. -Service & atmosphere; we were here early and had no issue getting a table. The person who seated us and served us was not very welcoming, I don’t think they cracked a smile once and just didn’t look like they wanted to be there at all. The counter staff were slightly friendlier. I’ve had better service at fast food chains, at this price point I maybe expected a different customer experience and atmosphere but it is what it is. Would I recommend this place to people? -If you’re only having breakfast for one day in Manchester because you’re there for a short stay, this place is not “the place to be” in my opinion. -If you’re living and working in Manchester and want to try somewhere new, yeah maybe it’d be an option.

Our first time in Manchester and this came highly recommended. The food is beautiful and so so tasty however the atmosphere was not good it was industrial and seemed like a place people just go to have meetings and work? It didn’t have a very cosy vibe. The member of staff that greeted us at the door didn’t smile once and looked absolutely miserable as well which was a bit off putting.

Great place for brunch. Swift service and good quality food, with particularly tasty sweet treats. The beans-on-toast dish was easily our table’s top dish.

Still makes the best French toast in Manchester! They often change the flavors but every single time I’ve been they haven’t missed!

Came yesterday for a brunch and once again Ezra & Gil didn’t disappoint. Service was amazing despite being busy the lovely host on the door got us seated within ten minutes. The honey & pistachio latte & omlette were incredible with quick & perfect service. My partner had the pumpkin toast also very delicious, always our favourite brunch spot it never misses

Had the breakfast the avocado and feta was delish would return to explore the rest of the menu 👌🏼 Recommend the matcha and coconut late wasn’t a fan of match until I tried this! Love that it’s dog friendly will be taking my parents and the dog next time they visit 🫶🏼

I recommend eating it at breakfast time because the food is great and delicious, but I wish the food was halal or they replaced pork with beef.

Visited early at a weekend, small queue but waiting time explained and we only waited about 10 mins for a table. Staff were great and an extensive menu. We enjoyed the chilled atmosphere combined with good food, would return next time we’re in town.

Very average brunch, not sure what all the fuss is about. What was really annoying though, was that we were told we only had an hour and a half when we sat down, which was fair enough as it was busy at the time, but then we got a 10 minute warning that we needed to leave. There was no queue at this point and empty tables, so why were we being told to leave?! We were keen to have another coffee and a piece of cake, but had to leave as that was the policy. It was bizarre. We therefore went to Idle Hands for coffee and cake which was much nicer coffee, and no threat of us having to move on! The poached egg also was underdone and had shell in it, so all in all, not great!

We had to queue for half an hour or so but well worth the wait. We both had the French toast which was delicious.

Staff here watched and smiled while a woman verbally attack and threatened me. Sour experience, food was OK

Two of us had lunch here on a Saturday. Didn't have to wait long for a table - excellent service and lovely food - very fresh and tasty. Also delicious cakes😁

Great lunch spot, Oscar our server was attentive and helpful, even when I messed up our order. The food was delicious as was the Bloody Mary!

Had a pumpkin spiced porridge. It was sweet and well made and presented but a bit pricey.

The coffee is good, they have a La Marzocco machine, but: - food totally overpriced for the portion - no table service - you have the table for 1.5h (just a note)

Lovely weekday breakfast, the food came out reasonably fast which was good, given it was a weekday before work. It is probably one of the best coffees in Manchester that I have had. Great service - definitely recommend!

Really disappointing. The omlette was oversalted, flat and lifeless with the ingredients just thrown on the top. Lukewarm coffee. Two small pieces of overtoasted sourdough absolutely dripping in margarine. £18. Ripoff

I found the staff unfriendly and the atmosphere a bit heavy. Music choice poor and too loud for 5pm. And neither of my choices was available. Not a good experience. Maybe an off day.

Very basic. Priced as premium brunch food but very basic & no table service which means getting up from table to que again. Like a lot of these places, gone too obsessed with profit margin than quality & atmosphere. Waiter reminded every single table that sat down you only get table for an hour & a half. Side of sausage was one sausage on a bed of rocket!

Gastamos aprox £20 x persona. Aceptan tarjeta y son pet friendly. Si es apto para niños. Los baños son tanto para hombres como para mujeres y se llenan muy rápido. Te dan un tiempo de 1.30 horas para comer y retirarte 😅

Fui muito bem atendida, o funcionário Ramon foi extremamente gentil e empático, sabe falar muitas línguas e me entendeu perfeitamente! A comida é deliciosa e o lugar bastante agradável, apesar de muito cheio. Amei a experiência.

King prawn linguine tasted so bland, 2 out of 3 people I encountered (staff) were rude. It was busy but the atmosphere was good, but I can’t let the blandness of the food and poor service slip. Good atmosphere or not!

I only had a coffee to take away but it was fairly average and slightly burnt.

Finally tried Ezra & Gil last weekend. A couple of tables when we arrived which was great, but still pretty busy at 9:20am so recommended getting there early. Ordered and the coffees came within a couple of minutes and the food came within 10mins which was really quick. My turmeric latte was a bit on the small side for the price, and lacked deeper flavour. Partner’s iced coffee was large and tasty. There’s a good selection of alternative milks too which was a bonus. The porridge was delicious, and the scrambled eggs were great, but had been salted unevenly so some bits were too salty while some bits lacked salt. Overall really good, just some small bits of feedback that we found. Service was quick and friendly. Quite a big space and comfortable. We’ll be back 👍

Eating here is…fine. It’s definitely lost a lot of the atmosphere and what made it great in the early days. The food is tasty, but there are big queues no matter when you arrive and you’ll often have to wait 15-20 minutes for a table. Is it worth it? Borderline now. Service friendly and food is good, but feels like it’s lost its original charm and is now just any other brunch place. There’s better out there but it’s worth a try.

Very delicious food. Halloumi pancakes were tasty, sweet & salty. I really like it. VG English breakfast was yummy snd the portion is enough to share. Flat white perfect. Atmosphere wonderful

I love the atmosphere, I love the food so much!! I ordered french toast and this is the best french toast I've ever tried. Sweet was just right, bread was soft and fluffy. Cheese cream was delicious. I love it !!

Woah. I don’t use superlatives all that often in my reviews, but the hot chocolate I had at Ezra & Gil was one of the tastiest I’ve ever had. Everything about it was perfect: temperature, creaminess, the decorative swirl on top. Non-dairy milks to have it with, too. I need another one now.

Good food. Really slow service. Had to wait 45m for the food to be delivered to my table.

Good overall place, always busy. You need to place order at counter, there is no table service which is a bit time consuming. The food was nice, the avocados were slightly out of season and doused in lemon. Its really loud environment, at times had to shout to person opposite.

Great lunch! Went for lunch on the recommendation of a passing gent when we were looking for somewhere to eat. Didn’t regret it. Nice atmosphere, buzz of happy people, super poke bowl and chicken melt, plus a beer & Prosecco! What’s not to like. And super service too! 👍🏼

My wife says they had amazing french toast. I had some pretty incredible scrambled egg, a great place for breakfast. Just be aware there are 4 large steps to negotiate to get in or out , the staff did offer to help with the pram

Best breakfast and coffee in Manchester!

I'm a breakfast lover, so trust me if I tell you that Ezra & Gil is the place to go ! It was one of the best English breakfasts I had and the best of Manchester for sure ! We've been there 3 times, and it was better every time ...🤗 Thanks to the staff for making those moments even better !

Great vibe and great food. Quick and very friendly service. The place is pretty loud, so good to know if you are sensitive to sound.

The staff are really friendly and helpful and bring the rating up. Food was okay but northern quarter prices. Coffee was okay. They do charge for all dairy free milk alternatives though. Aesthetic is cute, but it was literally painfully hot in there, to the point where I had to leave early. The gender neutral characters on the toilet door are a bit clumsy too. The whole ‘half & half’ and alien thing…

This was our best breakfast in Manchester. Something for everyone. In addition to the food the lattes we had were excellent and had good latte art on top showing skill/effort you don’t see at all cafes.

Hands down the best Benedict eggs I have ever had. Loved the place. Update: we have come back a few times already and I love it so much!

Be prepared to wait or take a cramped bar stool place until a table free’s up - it’s worth the wait. The best coffee in town, tasty eggs and freshly squeezed juice seals the deal. Super friendly and helpful staff. Be prepared to wait for the toilet too. But enjoy!

We really liked the food here, and the very friendly people serving as well. Do note there is another Ezra and gil nearer to St Peter square which we completely missed. Worth a visit but go early or you need to be in a long line

Food is outstanding as per usual. Original post: Absolutely delicious breakfast!! Really nice relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and lovely coffee. We had the avacado on toast and the pumpkin on toast. Could not recommend enough and can't wait to return to try the lunch menu 🙂 Been back again and had the falafel and halumi and pumpkin eggs (again) had the blood orange spritzer too, all super delicious and amazing service. Excited for my next trip to Ezra's.

I was in Manchester for a week and I managed to have breakfast here twice . Lovely food , lovely staff

Friendly and welcoming staff and I loved the cosy atmosphere. Food was tasty and came in a great portion. I ate the porridge and the taste was great. Although I didn't love the texture as it seemed more oat flour rather than flakes. Would still come back and they had other great vegan options.

WOW just wow I can’t believe it was only last week that I have ever been to Ezra and Gil. There was a little queue because it was a lovely Saturday morning so everyone had the same idea on going out for breakfast, however the queue went fast and it was 1000% worth the wait. The service was great the food was UNREAL - I got the smashed pumpkin on toast with a poached egg and my friend got the chorizo and ham mash Benedict. 10/10 - coffee was also amazing. Will be going again soon.

We recently returned to Manchester and absolutely had to come back. This place is so fresh and delicious I would highly recommend putting this on your list! We had brunch on both occasions, and the second was just as incredible as I recall! Very cute place, and you can tell fresh and local is their priority.

We came for Brunch yesterday 26.11.23 and had to best service from Alex. She was brilliant and really went out of her way for us. There is nothing about our experience I would change. Food was excellent, service was fast. Overall brilliant - thank you Alex!!

Lovely Sunday brunch here - freshly squeezed orange juice was a lovely surprise. Smashed avocado was delicious as were the veggie breakfasts. Great coffee too. Highly recommend, even if you have to wait.
