We came with our two year old granddaughter just for a snack and coffee. The sandwiches were all lovely and presented nicely with a side salad and crispy crisps. My gluten free bread was very nice. The toddler sandwich was also very nicely presented. The staff was lovely and gave my granddaughter a spoon and fork with her sandwich so she didn’t feel left out as we had cutlery with ours. The coffee was good too. Will definitely visit again as the cakes looked good and we didn’t get to try those.

We had not been to JOLI for our regular visit since before Covid and we are still being extra cautious even now. We were approaching JOLI one day last week and we thought..ach lets go in and have coffee and a scone. Well, what a welcome from Linda and staff,it was so lovely. We sat outside on a lovely afternoon and had tea, coffee and scones all absolutely delightful. We were so pleased that we stopped and we hope to be back again soon. Highly recommended in every way for anyone who has never been before!

Sandwich was bland that came with a side of salad but the bread was dry and had no butter or marg. I was also not asked what type of bread i wanted ie white brown etc it came with a few bits of carrot 1 lettuce leaf. 1 cherry tomato cut in half 4 unsalted crisps and a terrible salad dressing.

Been meaning to stop here for ages and did so today...wish we had taken the opportunity sooner! The homemade soup was excellent as was the carrot cake and cheese scone - and a decent hot cappuccino and hot chocolate too. The cafe is tastefully decorated with the gift stock displayed throughout adding to the overall quality feel - not the usual tacky retail stock, clearly some effort has gone in to sourcing the stock, including newly displayed Christmas stock. Staff welcoming and friendly with quick and courteous service throughout. Will definitely be back again as this is a lovely cafe and have a mind to start the Christmas shopping early!

I went here on a Sunday lunchtime with an old friend. Neither of us had been before and went on the strength of reviews online. The cafe is easy to find and we got parked right outside. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were lovely. We got seated straight away but took a little time to get served as it was very busy. This meant I had time to look around at the selection of gifts and cards that are available. Apologies were given for the delay on more than one occasion and we really weren't waiting all that long. The food was good and the cakes looked wonderful although sadly we were too full to sample them at this visit. We had a thoroughly pleasant time and will definitely be back.

Had a lovely catch up with my Mum here on Tuesday. We were just in for drinks and scones. My Mum had coffee and I had a herbal tea, both were nice. The let down was with the scones. My scone was ok and of an average size but unfortunately my Mums scone was much smaller and not of a scone shape at all. I'm 100% sure you would have changed the scone for another one but my Mum didn't want to cause a fuss. But she did say that it shouldn't have made it to the shop!! But also with that said they were good scones but we have had better visits here. There is so much to look at here since the cafe sells jewellery and cards and bits and bobs. It's a cosy comfortable and clean place to eat and also to spend a little cash on some candles etc. Lol We will be back for sure as I've been many times before and their food is great and they make beautiful soup. There's also an outdoor seating area which is great in the summer. Looking forward to coming back very soon.

What a beautiful place JoLi is with a lovely quirky feel. The staff are extremely nice and warm welcoming. They have a great menu soup, baked potatoes, sandwiches and cakes galore. The soup was really good and baked potatoes done to perfection. It's the sort of place that keeps you coming back for more. They also have outdoor seating which will be great in the summer but even on non raining days here in Scotland it's always nice to get some fresh air. There is two steps for getting in the door but for outdoors seating there is a ramp for wheelchairs access but inside is not wheelchair accessible. I walk with crutches but even if you walk with a walker depending on mobility level you could do the couple of steps. There is also some gifts to buy inside that are of good quality. Scarfs, jewellery, soaps, little signs etc. The goods are spread tastefully around JoLi and add as a great touch of decor your eyes will never tire looking around. Look forward to coming back and working our way round the rest of the menu and tucking into those gorgeous homemade cakes. Keep doing what you're doing as you're doing it so well guys!!

I live near JoLi, and I have to confess that I have only been a few times. However, I have loved every visit.1) Service- the ladies who work in JoLi are fantastically polite and genuinely interested in their customers. Longniddry has a large population of over 65's and JoLi provides a great place for them to meet up without having to use public transport. I have seen the ladies wrapping up sandwiches for customers if they have been unable to finish- this is something that warms my heart and I think that customers really appreciate. One thing I do like about JoLi is that even though the cafe is small, they don't try and push you out once you have finished your coffee or tea. They let you relax and chat to the person you are with, and they aren't as concerned with customers turnover as some other local establishments. 2) Food and Drink- well, each time I have visted JoLi i have had exactly the same thing. White Hot chocolate which is AMAZING and Pate. I take my hat off to the girls- the pate is homemade, and as a pate fanatic I get frustrated when cafes pan their pate off as 'homemade' when it is absolutely not *rant over*. Its the little things that make this place so special. 3) Price- Very reasonable 4) Atmosphere- always bustling, and always busy.

We had a delightful lunch at East Coast Musselburgh today, choosing from their set menu. The restaurant is clean, contemporary, and tastefully decorated, which created a welcoming atmosphere. We both started with the mussels in a spicy tomato sauce that also served as a flavorful broth. The sauce had the perfect balance of heat and richness, complementing the fresh mussels. For mains, I opted for the Spaghetti Harbour, which was generously portioned and packed with clams and mussels. The seafood was cooked perfectly, and the dish was hearty yet refined. My wife had the King Prawn Calamari, which was served with a light, perfectly cooked batter, accompanied by crispy skinny fries, a fresh salad, and tartare sauce. She loved the combination of flavors and textures. We washed everything down with a refreshing Leith draught beer, which rounded off our meal perfectly. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. The facilities were well-maintained, including spotless toilets, which is always a good sign. Overall, the meal was excellent value for money, and we left feeling satisfied and eager to return. I highly recommend East Coast for anyone looking for fresh seafood and a great dining experience in Musselburgh.

Went here today for a birthday meal What a total and utter disappointment the quality of the food was very poor. I would have rated it no stars but had to give at least one to continue with the review. The meal I ordered was billed as a triple steak burger, OMG it was awful, when it was served to me the burger was bone dry and very small, over cooked and totally tasteless. There was no burger sauce, (what we were offered was a bottle of ketchup and seriously watered down mayo) there was no onion or cheese only a little piece of stale lettuce and one slice of very thin tomato in the very dry bun. It was listed as being served with rustic chips but I actual found they were nothing more than a handful of frozen skinny fries from a bag. I was charged almost £17 for this which is an absolute disgrace. I've had far better any tastier burgers from McDonald's for a third of the price. My partner had what was billed as peppered chicken which was very poor, served in a skillet which was no deeper than a saucer and it was served without rice which was listed on the menu. The manager came over before it was served and gave her a spoon and we were wondering why you would need a spoon to eat the meal! Then It became apparent when it was served, hardly any chicken and a few bits of pepper and onion and was swimming in some kind of peppered sauce, hence the spoon. This was also priced around £16/17, again ridiculously over priced for what was actually offered. We checked out the menu online before booking a table but when we arrived we were given a totally different menu from what was online. Then to top it all we paid cash and after some time we had to ask for our change from the bill (over £5). When the ki Manager came over he then said "folk normally say just to keep the change " we were Shocked and utterly embarrassed by this comment. What an absolute rip off this place is and we certainly won't be back .
