The banana bread was delicious. Also highly recommend the soujok eggs Benedicts. The prices are a bit expensive but it was worth it.

When I approached the counter and asked one of the ladies if they have falafel they told us to sit on the table and check the menu…. I didn’t see the falafel on the menu but didn’t want to ask about it as the staff didn’t make me feel welcome so I ordered poached eggs on sourdough toast, and vegan breakfast for my friend, Unfortunately I was not impressed about the service further more there was a long black hair in my food stuck between the eggs and salad… so disappointed… I called the lady showed her the hair and asked her to remove the food as my appetite was completely gone. I still feel like I have hair stuck on my tongue will brush as soon as I get home. What is more disappointing they took off the poached eggs off my bill and paid fully for the rest of the bill… Disappointing

A very pleasant experience, the waiters and waitresses were very attentive and always made sure I was looked after. Food was exceptional we got chicken tacos and fish tacos to share and was more than enough food. A lovely cafe that ticks all the boxes!

I came in for a coffee between workout classes. The cafe was quiet, at no point was every table full (I did not take up space that could have been used for other customers) I sat at a small table for 2 and read my book for around an hour. I ordered just a coffee. The staff made me feel so uncomfortable, hovering around the table, staring and just generally creating a bad atmosphere. When I got up to leave a member of staff made an audible comment to another staff member about me drinking one coffee the whole time and how ridiculous this was. I have been to Joice many times as I live very close and attend classes a few doors down. I have tried to overlook the overpriced food previously but the attitude of the staff was so bad I won’t be returning or recommending to anyone else.

I have ordered 3 times today from just eat and Uber eats and the orders get cancelled by Joice. Why be available for orders if you are going to reject them? Crazy!

I wrote on notes specifically for no nuts on the pancakes and berries and they bring it with nuts and berries which is a waste of money as now it can not be eaten

Portion size was quite small - I think two sausages, mushrooms and hash browns would be fair for the price. Taste was good though and it was fresh.

Way too expensive in here. The staff always seem rather moody. The food is below average, coffee is ok. Don't understand how it's over a tenner for a coffee and a cake?

We go very often. Highlights on the menu are the tuna toastie and the 2 Turkish eggs Benedicts options - kofte and soujouk. It’s family run and that makes a difference. The atmosphere is welcoming, buzzing and ‘normal’. I.e. it’s not a typical pretentious brunch spot where 22 year old art students want you to feel lucky to be in their presence, let alone to have your order taken. For us, this place is perfect for its authenticity and its food. Very glad to have it in walking distance.

Use often but sadly not as good. Went today and staff not friendly. Paper cups used! No goodbye. Such a shame.

Had croissants but they were really stale.

I ordered Egg Benedict I thought it comes with Hollandaise souce. NO I received big DRY peace off bread with egg on it!! That's was my 1st and LAST time in Joice Cafe.

Despite saying good morning with a smile, I was half greeted (no smile!) by a man at the till that sounded and looked half awake. That really should have been the point I went elsewhere, but location alone (a place to wait close to where my parents were at a GP appointment) made me give this place another chance. I picked up a menu, asked to have a latte, was asked takeaway or eat in, I responded - I’d have it outside as I wanted to order food also! After a 15 minute wait (from approx 10:50-11:05) and zero acknowledgment (I was the only person siting outside!) I got up, walked to my car a few steps away and left. Thanks to the less Gentrified Atmosphere at Natas down the road, I got much better service, with a smile! It was busy inside, so I parked outside Natas and waited after I ordered, the staff were kind enough to bring my order out to me, again, with a smile and wished me a good day! That’s how you treat customers!

I ordered a gluten free toastie. When it arrived I wasn’t sure it was GF bread so I asked the server and she confirmed it was. After I started eating it another server came out and said she checked with the chef and IT WAS NOT GF!! No compensation for this on the bill!! Food was nice but disappointing as the waitress confirmed after I ask only for it not to be! A bit more attention to detail would have cause a lot less problems for me!

Just been in and this, allegedly, is a cup of tea with milk. It’s not, it’s not even milk with tea, it’s hot water with milk. Lemon cookie was lovely but this tea is so bad it should be illegal! It’s normally such a reliable ‘eat in’ venue. Take out cups of tea beware.

Booked Joice Café for my birthday brunch. With 48 hours’ notice they managed to have space for 27 people. I’d never been but it always looked busy and nice inside. We got there and they had the space ready for the booked time, sat us down and despite our group size and being packed with other tables too, we had our drinks pretty promptly, and then food orders. Food arrived pretty promptly too considering it was peak brunch time. It was all delicious, pretty sure our whole group cleared their plates. We had some latecomers and they were always welcoming and happy to accommodate. And at the end they came out with some cannoli and different cakes for us to try! They were all delicious and felt like such a lovely and special move from them. Overall - had the best experience and would 10/10 recommend!

Service was amazing! Went for a takeaway coffee and was sold a lovely cake as well by a charming gentleman at the till. And then, a lady came out and found me to give me my cake and coffee. This kind of service goes a long way with me. Thoroughly recommend this place. 👏

they didn't send the entire order, 2 brownies were missing. I ordered a cheese and tomato toastie which barely had any cheese in it, and what was in it were the so thin that you could see through them, the cheese was not melted, just barely warm. The tomatoes were thrown in haphazardly and were cut so thick, you couldn't even bite in to them properly! The only good item delivered was the chips and that's saying something. 0/5 do not recommend.

I went to the Joyce café at 8:30 am asked for a vegan sausage roll. After 15 minutes, I received a lukewarm roll full of…mould! This place is overpriced and pretentious. I won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Just wish to be able to order mixed salad as well… which is not an option in menu for delivery.

I went here for brunch recently and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff and really nice food. I had the club sandwich with rosemary fries, a smoothie and a coffee. Great atmosphere and design too. I’d go again!

Unfortunately sweets are not fresh and overpriced. Gentleman who served us was great.

Ask when the pastries were made before ordering. I had the choco banana bread and it was suuuper dry, at least a few days old. The smoothie was super tasty and the service and atmosphere lovely but for a £5 slice, the pastries are not worthy.

Worst coffee I’ve ever had. The food was okay. But the hollandaise sauce was sub par. Was far too expensive for the quality.

Cinnamon roll very dry, probably yesterdays batch and not gooey at all, plus rather unpleasant bitter after taste from the filling and no glaze on top. Portuguese tart filling nice but pastry case was awful- chewy and hard.

Beautiful plates but the shocker here is the pancakes - best I’ve had in London in 8 years of looking for (American good) pancakes. Only suggestion for improvement is the condiments are in the little plastic packets vs eg larger ketchup bottles.

I paid £25 for a breakfast in this condition and the wrong cake sent👎🏼

Sad about the food wait takes about 45 min on a weekday when it’s not busy. A bit pricey, tho they serve nice coffee Atmosphere would have been great if the kids were not running around the place like a playground all of a sudden. Sadly their Wi-Fi does not work too.

this cafe was an absolute gem! The food was incredible, and the staff were so welcoming. The cozy atmosphere made it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some delicious treats. I left with a big smile on my face, feeling so happy. It's definitely a spot I'll be revisiting again and again. 😄🌟

Ordered the eggs Benedict and they were delicious with a hint of spice which was perfect. Also ordered the gluten free pistachio cannoli and it was super rich in flavour and sweetness, the biscuit was made of crunchy almonds. Will definitely reorder and recommend

Stumbled across joice whilst having my car fixed at kwik fit. Went in not expecting much and totally blown away. It’s l ike having a mini ottolenghi in Balham. Salads are fantastic, somehow taste better than they look and the cakes look spot on. Just annoyed I haven’t been here before. Hats off to whoever came up with this concept as it’s absolutely spot on. I will be a new regular!

Great place for Branch (late breakfast -earlier Lunch ). Fabulous choose of Simple and delicious salads. Good coffee and service. Worm and Welcoming atmosphere.

Great food and nice staff, just a very noisy place , especially when is crowd I find so annoying switch on the music on the top of that. Definitely I haven’t relaxed at all.

Service is nice, food is OK. I was hoping to love the food here, especially the cakes, but I was underwhelmed.

Had the English breakfast but was disappointed to find that it wasn’t freshly cooked. The only fresh item on the plate seemed to be the toast. Everything else was very obviously reheated and even then, wasn’t particularly hot. It was £26 for a breakfast, coffee and a smoothie, which I found to be poor VFM. In hindsight I would have opted for a salad or a cake, which all looked delicious. Service was friendly and the place has a nice vibe about it.

Very warm on a summers day as no inside air conditioning

The coffee was okay the tables were dirty but staff were nice.

Service is great and food is fine, usual standard. Its a bit pricey for what it is, coffee is also fine. I went for brunch and its not the restaurant's fault but the customers there can be quite loud and inconsiderate. It felt like I was in a noisy pub trying to have a conversation, you end up shouting over each other.

Highly recommended, perfect food, great customer service, great ambience and music is played at right level. The perfect place for Sunday breakfast.

Was walking by, was drawn to the cute decor, was really craving a slice of cake, asked for a recommendation the owners were extremely kind/welcoming, suggested Oreo and boy was it a treat. Maybe the best slice of cake I’ve ever had and I’ve had many. Thank you for the recommendation and for being so welcoming!

Instantly felt a warm atmosphere here and warmly welcomed and staff were very attentive. Food was incredible and featured unique dishes that I’ve not tried before. It was a welcome mix of great food and excellent hospitality. The staff and kitchen take great pride in Cafe Joice and it was a pleasure to visit! Some of the best food I’ve had in London in a long time!

Took my daughter and her boyfriend to Joice Cafe Balham on April 29th. I couldn’t fault the place. Staff were great, the place was great and the food was superb. We were there for the evening and enjoyed their tapas menu. Looking foreword to going back. Highly recommended 🤗

I stopped by for lunch today. And it was overcrowded. Nevertheless, I would like to thank Albi for not turning me down and for finding a solution and taking care of it. And also, thank you for amazing food and good service.

Cute café but I was ignored by the waiters for 15 min so I went to them to order. Then I had to chase again to get my drink which was just a bottled drink (you'd think low effort). We waited for quite some time for the food to be served. My friend got the wrong food and the tap water we had requested wasn't served until we asked again. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Went in to have the Turkish eggs as they the best thing ever only to be told they've been taken off the menu! Heartbreaking. The menu changes are a little confusing, not sure I understand why in a breakfast/brunch place you now serve hamburgers, fries and roast chicken. Keep it simple guys. Had the shakshuka instead and it was fine. Under the impression that the point of this dish is the eggs being cooked in the pot with the tomato sauce. Not poached separately and plonked on top. Chai latte, delicious! Justice for the Turkish eggs!

Friendly family run cafe with good wholesome food and excellent coffee. Usually busy all day, especially at the weekend. I know the seasons are well late this year, but when the weather does break, there is lots of seating outside as well. Enjoy.

The food is really good. This place just gets better every day, I loved the new menu, the chef deserves praise. And Albi is the best.

Quirky does not mean Dirty. The bubble and squeak was PUTRID and SOUR tasting so it was inedible. When I asked a staff member he said maybe it was my 'tastebuds'. I've eaten bubble and squeak since I was a child in many different places and never have I ever tasted one rancid like this. So the lack of accountability was incredibly offensive. The FOOD ROOM TEMPERATURE - why? I was Served a DIRTY TEAPOT with visible dirt. Looked as if it was straight from the charity shop uncleaned. There was also tea stains in both the cup and the pot. All of the random 'quirky' items were dusty. The floor was scuffed and dirty. The HIGHCHAIR was FILTHY. All the plant leaves were DUSTY. The food had bit too much oil. If the plants and antique items are too laborious to clean, I say get rid of them. There is so much neglect on the cleaning it's sad. I used to visit every time I visited the doctors but I won't be going again.

The food was very delicious! I had the smashed avocado on toast, and the amount of avocado was very generous. My partner had the vegan breakfast, which he loved. Lovely interiors too. Definitely need to come back again to try some of the fresh bakes and cannolis

Joice is overpriced and overrated. We've been a few times and the last time we came for lunch, we left severely disappointed. Joice does well because of its gentrified location and aesthetic. The Feta & Spinach Flatbread was cold, bland and stodgy, the Chicken Caesar Baguette, dry. The coffee is mediocre at best. The manager was appallingly rude and conceited (bearded with a man-bun) with no tact or diplomacy in the way he spoke to customers. He turned a couple of mothers with buggies away and made several people wait outside for their coffee even though the café wasn't even full - I would've left. The staff are unprofessional, cliquey and juvenile and good service is a matter of chance here; we experienced this each time. There are much better places within walking distance, don't waste your money. Definitely won't be returning.

Cute café halfway between Balham and Tooting. I went during the weekend and the atmosphere was very lively. I had coffee and some sweet treats. My latte was creamy and delicious. I also ordered the raspberry and lemon cake; it tasted delicious, although it was slightly dry to my taste. I will come again anyway because the pancakes look amazing and I want to try them!

Handy spot for a cup of coffee and a toastie. Always good buzz in.
