Fantastic lunch, fresh tasty, generous. A real find, walked past so many times but so glad I went in. Will be back

Editing my review as opposed to the below. I came back for another go and the food was absolutely amazing. 😃 Apologies for the below review. I returned for the mixed grill and added an egg and an sausage. Very good. I'm stuffed and thank you very much. Lovely 😍 . . . . Food was ok. I wasn't blown away if I'm honest. I had the mixed grill. It was under seasoned and could have got similar at a spoons for around half the price. The homemade chips are a nice touch and the chorizo type sausages were amazing.

I always want to support small businesses- but chips on both our meals were still hard potato in the middle - and although (once I’d finally got someone’s attention) reheated and returned - there was no apology and no one returned to check if the food was ok. I felt like I was the one who was a problem- and so sadly I won’t be back. Other locals seem to love the place which is great.

Mr. António and his family are an example of dedication to Portuguese traditions, family values ​​and winning at the cost of their sweat and work.

Belly of pork portion was very small (4 skinny pieces). And cooked on a flat iron not a grill. pork was bland and Unseasoned. Chips were soggy. No cold coffee available. Over priced . The normal latte was ok Staff was very friendly and helpful Wouldn't recommend .

This is my go-to food spot for when I cba to cook. I get the half chicken with rice and chips - always tasty and reasonably priced. Would recommend!

What a nice place! Honest well cooked food and one of the best frango assado in London. Nota: Frango Assado = Grilled Chicken

A must visit- a down to earth but delicious menu with helpful and welcoming staff.

Good honest food, well prepared and good prices. We had the fried breakfast, which was tasty, large and not greasy. My friend said she wants to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Popped there for lunch, got to say food looks very good, but for my partner, was one of the worse experience ever. After making very clear she is alergic to gluten (coeliac desease since birth), all in less than 2h it become a nightmare. I don't know if the lady taking the order let the kitchen staff know or not but its showed lack of proffessionalism. The damages can be deadly with so many deseases and alergies if knowledge doesn't exist, looks like everyone nowadays thinks they are cheff's or knows how to take an order . I suggest a bit more training...

Nice enough place, breakfast was ok coffee was nice. Service was pretty slow. Price was £11.50 which was a little expensive for a small breakfast but about right for the area

We were staying at the Premier Inn along the road and were looking for somewhere local to eat. Liked the look of this place and weren’t disappointed. Friendly service and authentically prepared peri peri chicken just like you get in Portugal. Accompanied by chips and mixed salad, spices were spot on and all washed down with a Superbock. Quick service and very reasonably priced, would definitely recommend.

Food very average and I was disappointed in the ‘Portuguese’ flavour element of it. Chicken wings was plain. Lady was miserable but the chef was in good spirits. Very plain the food could have been from anywhere. Prices slightly steep for what it is.

I've been here 3 times and if you're in the mood for Portuguese chicken and chips with a nice cold beer then look no further. Good hearty simple food and 10x better than Nandos.

The food was really tasty, decent size portions and service was good and super friendly. Also baby friendly as we had our 15 months with us. Only cons are the price (higher than your average Portuguese restaurant prices) and the lack of classic Portuguese dishes in the menu like francesinha, bacalhau a bras and etc. Their focus is grill dishes, if you are expecting the full Portuguese menu, it's not for you, but if you are looking for a tasty meat on skewer or peri peri chicken, this is it.

The waitress was very polite and helpful and the food was great i had Lamb Chops with the Garlic Potatoes and salad and the plate was so full i couldnt finish it all... will make a point of going back... 10 outta 10...

What a hidden gem. I work nearby and come here at least once a week for lunch. Proper authentic Portuguese food, family run, great service and attention to quality and flavour of the food. Would recommend to anyone who’s nearby the Battersea / Clapham area.

You get like 20 chips for £3,50 and that's not the regular portion, but large. More cardboard box and air than fried potatoes.

Twice I've been and asked for lamb yet been convinced to buy fatty and expensive shwarma instead. According to my friends who've visited Grill on the Hill too, the owner says he can't get lamb! Take it off the Menu then!!

If you feel like going Portuguese restaurant around Clapham, this is the first place you should try. Nice atmosphere, good service, great taste.

One of my favourite Portoghese place in SW London

I went there and had a half grilled peri peri chicken. It was cut into 5 pieces. Beautifully cooked and tender. Came with a green salad and chips. I also had a bottle of beer all for £14. Very busy resteruant. The service was quick. I left my scarf there but picked it up the next day. Highly reccomended

Food is fresh, well prepared, price is honest, waiter vey kind. One star less because our table was close to some cold air... Two guest were then not very comfortable. But will likely go again to try fish or so.

A small restaurant, but a bit of a gem on Lavender Hill. We started with Caldo Verde (a Portuguese kale soup) (£4) before moving on to a fish mixed grill for two with boiled potatoes, carrots and broccoli (£31 for two). The fish selection came with a whole sea bass, some salmon, tuna steak, squid, and the obligatory salted cod and this was accompanied with a very reasonably-priced bottle of white douro (£14.50). The standard of fare was very good and the portions were huge, so what we couldn't eat we brought home! Service is friendly and although it can be slightly pedestrian, it makes the whole portuguese experience a little more authentic. A good varied menu of portuguese dishes which won't break the bank. It's safe to say, we'll be back!

Lovely Portugese place on lavender hill. Came here as a family and sat outside on a Saturday night as weather was quite good. Starters was the prawns which were very nice & they tend to come beforehand with bread & olives. Mains we all got ‘Madeira Espetada’ & ‘Frango & Chorizo Espetada’ Which is beef skewers & chicken & chorizo skewers. This was very nice & come with fries & salad. The fries were a lil cold and I think that’s because the food almost took an hour to come unfortunately. The service was good but to wait basically an hour for the food is a bit too much for sure. Quite pricey in comparison to some other Portugese places as well.

Great and really cheap food!! The chicken soup was very hearty and a hudge size for 3,5£ chicken salad simply tasty and fresh! The only reason for giving a 4 star instead 5 is a poor kids menu choice and people smoking cigarettes OUTSIDE!! THE inside is connected with outside and u are affected by the smokers

Restaurant was a bit quiet but it was a week day. But that doesn't take away from the great quality of service and food we got. Food was amazing and so was the wine. Chose the spot for a dinner club and was not disappointed. Got the whole Chicken. A must for Portuguese food and the large sliced steak which exceeded expectation. Great night. Highly recommended. Used to go here for lunch. Half a chicken with chips and salad was always £6.35 for takeaway, now it is £8.95, that's a 40% increase. Will look for other lunch options from now on. It is still tasty food but too much for a simple takeaway.

Great dorado and steaks, a lovely atmosphere and the feeling you are ion holiday in Portugal make this an outstanding local restaurant.

Ordered half chicken through uber eats. It came with chips and salad. Chips were soaking wet, it almost felt like Im eating mashed potatoes. Chicken itself was ripped in many many different pieces and that did not look too attractive.

I just discovered Grill on the Hill. I didn't feel like cooking at home - I live on my own. I had the piri chicken with chips, rice and veg - it was all absolutely fresh and delicious! The chips were home made, like my older relatives used to make. The staff are so friendly and accommodating - it was easy to come and eat on my own here. I highly recommend it!

My wife and I were staying at a hotel in the area and were looking for a nice place to have a meal. We walked down the street and saw several restaurants. The Grill on the Hill had a number of guests eating including some families with children so we thought to give it a try. (We did not have any children with us.) What a great choice. We actually ate at this restaurant two nights in a row so between the two of us we had 4 different dishes. All were excellent. First night: Wife: Seafood Pasta - Lots of very fresh shrimp, mussels, calamari and more. This can be ordered with either a creamy white sauce or a red sauce. My wife chose the creamy white sauce. Husband: Picanha a Brasilina - Sliced steak, rice, fries, beans, salad and more. Second night: Wife: Grilled chicken with creamy mushroom sauce. Husband: Grilled pork ribs with fries and salad. As mentioned earlier, all dishes were excellent. Flavor, texture, presentation, temperature-All great. The Portuguese draft beer was also very good. Entree prices were in the GBP10-15 range. Considering the portion size, quality, service, etc., very reasonable. They also serve pizza. They appear to have a very active take-away business. We were never rushed. The waiters were always helpful in ensuring that we were pleased with our dinner. Substitutions were not an issue. My wife wanted some steamed vegetables and this was substituted for something else on the plate.

Apart from the extortionate prices. A decent Beef skewer was place on the grill but was £17.50 take away price. Looking tasty!
