A difficult review to write as I have really rated this place. .I have been vegetarian for 30 years and never eaten any meat. I ordered a vegetarian yuk sung by phone and they repeated the order back to me . I ate over half and thought there was vegetarian meat in it which I was pleased about as it wasn't like usual yuk sung with crispy noddles etc . I suddenly felt like maybe I should check .. as it had a slight chicken taste ( vegetarian meat is so good now , it’s hard to know). I called them and they said no there were only vegetable in it .. I told them categorically that there was meat In it. They came back to check and the lady was quite snappy and said I had ate the curry . My husband had had the curry ( with chicken it) and this was not curry . She slapped £7 in my hands and walked off … no apology. I spent alll the night feeling extremely sick. It is a shame as to be honest I have always enjoyed this place in the place, non greasy, nice flavours

The food here was delicious and every dish was packed with full, authentic flavour. Even though you are paying that little extra, we thought their portion sizes were very generous. This is such an underrated place. Go, there!

Really good food and service. We'd been meaning to come here for years, and finally got around to it. There's no Chinese restaurants in Walsall any more, so this is the closest to us. A few dishes that you don't get at many places too, highly recommended.

We visited Johnny Wong’s as we were staying in Chase Terrace. It just happened to be on Valentines Night. What a good choice we made. The starters and mains which were freshly cooked were of a very high standard indeed. A great night, our servers were both friendly and helpful, they ensured we had enough of everything. A very enjoyable evening and one which we will repeat when we are in Burntwood again.

Haven’t not been here for a while so we gave it a whirl ~ found it to be quite expensive for ‘all you can eat’ I was expecting around £12.85 /£14.95 but was a little surprised at the £17 price. We asked for prawn crackers but were told they were an extra £2 !! There is also a note on the menu stating they do not serve tap water.... not sure we will be returning again.

I'd been going to Johnny Wong's for years then moved out of the area. I was very pleased to find that after a few year hiatus the quality was still there. It was about £17 for the all you can eat menu for which you can keep ordering your favourite starters as they are made to order as opposed to the usual buffet style AYCE. There is a catch though, anything ordered but not eaten will be charged extra - think this is more for main meals and if they've not been touched at all, a few dregs is ok. To be fair, the food is that good you won't leave anything anyway. There's a broad selection of things to choose from but the salt & chilli chicken wings will always be a firm favourite of mine. Wash it all down with a few cheeky bottles of Tsingtao too. Delicious! The service and staff are fantastic. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of the place. Location wise it is a gemstone among an otherwise dying shopping precinct so don't let the exterior put you off.

Situated in a run down precinct but so much better than its surroundings. The dining area is small as upstairs is rarely open now - I think more trade is take-away. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is really lovely despite the major attraction being an 'all you can eat menu'. On the a la carte menu portion sizes are huge - we had two dishes between two.

Most people take advantage of the all you can eat for £17 per person however a la carte is available. We had vegetable Yuk Song which is mock duck in lettuce leaves. We then had tofu and sizzling noodles. All very nice and good portion sizes. A very acceptable meal at a sensible price.

Our first visit was a week ago. Food was amazing although it took a while to come was well worth the wait. The only negative comments are that there is no drinks price list so until the bill arrives you have no idea how much they are going to be. Also they do not serve tap water which is against the law if an establishment serves alcohol they are obliged to serve tap water and to display a price list. Also the staff are a little too eager to clear your table so are doing this while people are still eating. Would definitely go again though as food is really good.

Went for food last night, was sat upstairs. Lovely food I must say but ambiance, decor etc was awful- even paid as much as you would at a beautiful restaurant. Wine was expensive too. Went to the toilet and even tried to use their own bleach which was by the toilet to clean the horrible stains! Not great! A shame that the owner doesn’t decorate and give the place a makeover. Won’t be visiting again.

I just love the starters in this restaurant. The all you can eat menu isn't massive compared to their take away menu but there's plenty choice. We usually have more starters than mains, the salt and pepper ribs just fall off the bone. Had salt and chilli pepper lamb this time to go with the Moroccan lamb and pancakes but there was so much chilli my mouth was burning!!! Enjoy the yuk sung as a second course. This time I ordered the king prawn rendang and the comment was made that I must like spicy food. Yes I do but sadly this had no taste - except of powdery sauce - and the prawns were very watery. Really disappointed in this dish. However the quick fried chicken with satay sauce and the chicken with ginger and spring onion were really good. The amount of food for the price is really good value and well worth a visit.

Family Birthday meal. Quite a large party & due to access we had to sit downstairs, near the rear entrance & take-away counter. It was cold, very cold in fact some wore coats throughout. Also very noisy with people coming in & out. The worst was that there was no atmosphere. Decor was quite shabby, & not really a pleasant place to sit. I gather upstairs is a lot nicer. Was supposed to be an all you can eat buffet, but dishes are brought our individually, with signs saying any not eaten would be charged for. Not particularly cheap either, but its local & the food is quite good. Would I visit again ? Not unless I was seated somewhere a little nicer.

Have driven past here many times and not been tempted in by the outside appearance. Over the last 8yrs of living in Norton Canes we've been unable to find a decent Chinese and thought we'd give this go as if all else failed we could just eat starters. I don't know if this little place has an upstairs section as downstairs only seats about 24 people. We selected 6 different starters from the all you can eat menu - just the seaweed that wasn't what we expected it tasted of sugar rather than the salty sea. The yuk sung and the salt and chilli ribs were the best I've had anywhere. Because the portion sizes aren't massive it enables you to try several dishes which is great. I tried a rendang which I wouldn't have dared order normally and it had just the right amount of heat - a little tingle of the mouth and throat after a few minutes. We were amazed at the quality of food for the price (£16 each) and the very large bottles of beer aren't expensive either. Just the toilets that need something doing to them!!! This was our first visit but certainly won't be our last.

I haven't been to Johnny Wong's for a few years and as our usual take away was closed we thought we would return to an old favorite. I was really hoping the meal would be great, making Johnny Wongs our go to place again, sadly I couldn't have been further from the truth. Our order consisted of sweet and sour chicken, chicken curry, spring rolls, satay skewers, chips and egg fried rice. The sweet and sours chicken had practically no sauce, with the chicken appearing and tasting as if it was old and had been cooked twice at least! Very stringy and tough! The chicken curry wasn't great either somehow it tasted like gravy and had a weird green colour to it. The chips and spring rolls were okay however the egg fried rice was bland.

We have used this place for many years both eating in and ordering takeaway. On the whole the food is good but occasional we get a bad meal. This tuesday's takeaway was the worst. The sweet and sour chicken was the worst ever! On opening the containers (we had brought two) the smell was different, mostly onion, and what sauce was there was very dark. The small amount of chicken was thin, and had a rubber like texture. It went in the bin. To be fair we should have phoned and complained, but as it not been the first time, I just decided not to use them anymore.

Hi everyone of Burntwood, this is just a quick note to say I am not pleased whatsoever with our family takeaway from this "Johnny Wongs". I moved to Burntwood back in June 2015. We ordered a Johnny Wongs and ive got to say it was amazing after two recommendations... Anyway! It is now January 2016..we placed our usual order and horrific. No meat. All onions and peppers. Half the portion sizes (tubs are smaller than my fairy like hands". I would not recommend this for a takeaway night in.. unless you want to be disappointed or starving the rest of the night. For £7 average a dish you would expect more. Its joke! Our total came to £30 + and we were highly disappointed, everything was greasy, no meat and tiny portions that a rabbit wouldn't feel full on... what happened to you Johnny Wongs, you used to be great.. now i wouldn't recommend you to anyone.

We visited Jonny Wong's last night for the first time since the menu changed back to an 'all you can eat' menu, and in short it was even better than ever!Unlike many other 'all you can eat' restaurants, there's no buffet, instead you simply order from the menu at Jonny Wong's, but you can order as much as you want. This means that whatever you order is always hot and fresh.Whenever we eat Chinese food we enjoy starters most of all, and that's not a problem at Jonny Wong's because when you've finished your starters, they ask if you want more! You really can order as much as you want, as long as you eat what you order. As a group of 5 adults and 2 children we ordered a lot of different dishes, and they were all superb, but the stand out choices for me were the Mongolian Crispy Lamb, Chicken & Sweetcorn Soup, and Beef with Chinese Mushrooms & Bamboo Shoots - all excellent! The quality of the ingredients is high, and the beef is incredibly tender. Service is great and very friendly, and they're fantastic with the children. At £15 per head, it really is amazing value.Try it, you will not be disappointed!

Yen has just changed the menu from an all you can eat buffet to a 4 course set meal - but we still seem to eat the same amount! Still get a good selection of starters, followed by our new favourite, aromatic crispy duck in wraps. There are other choices for second course but... Real difference is that you can now only choose one main course instead of as many as you wanted when it was buffet, but choice is huge and varied. Follow all of that with a helping of ice cream for dessert. Cost just £12.50. When you consider the choice available to you and what you pay, this has to be the best value Chinese in the West Midlands.Did I forget to mention that not only is it great value, but the food is always generously portioned as well as SOO tasty and well cooked, we don't know how they do it at the price. They also have a thriving takeaway service if you fancy a night in!

I'll start with the good news the food was nice but expensive and the staff were good. However, the owner has a booking system which charges deposits per person £10 fair enough for no shows, but 8/10 turned up, had a nice meal, and paid close to £500. The owner's response when asked why he didn't credit the full £100 deposit was i don't have to as they didn't turn up so pay up. Not the greatest management style a shame as i won't be going again nor can i recommend this for larger bookings. Be aware as no excuses will be acceptable to Basil Fawlty ( Nowka Towers )
