We adore the John Seldon because it is so old school. It is warm and cosy, homely and welcoming. It is not fancy, so it would depend on your preference in terms of what the occasion is. If you are looking for delicious food, generous portions, happy, well-behaved patrons, many, of the older generation, friendly service and a warm welcome - this is the place. South Africans can feel whether non-British people are really welcome, at the John Seldon, we always feel at home. They serve Beavertown Neck Oil beer, which is my absolute favourite, so that just adds to the mix! 👌🏼

This is a good old-fashioned, proper pub 👌 friendly staff, warm and cosy bar areas, log fire 🔥 pickled eggs behind the bar, what more can you ask for! Plus a function room and on-site car parking 🚗 As Del Boy would say, luvly jubly

Girl behind the the bar said did l want a chiller for my red wine. Clueless. Can l takel those wine glasses away she had just given us. Steve was off duty unfortunately. Difficult evening but the food was great..My friend asked for savingon blanc and was asked if it was red or white.. Now wonder they want more staff. Normally enjoy our evenings. Just a bad one l guess. Will be back. Normally a 10 out of 10.

Only been for the function room for slimming world. Leaving a good review to get my status up 🤣 but also.....its a nice function room and would consider using it should I ever have an occasion to use one, and enough friends to attend!

An absolute gem! Probably the best kept beer in the south. My goodness!! Food is usually very good too. Go for the fish and chips! We found the locals are very friendly and a LOT of fun! Thank you all!!

Helpful staff(we had a large electric power chair) the Sunday lunch was excellent and several ales and ciders.

A good choice of beers, not just endless exotic foreign lager brands which are brewed in Northampton anyway. The Abbott ale I had was just right. The food was good pub grub, with some choices you don't often see these days like liver and bacon and steak and kidney pud, which I had. Really enjoyed it. Nice staff and not exorbitant prices. Looking forward to going back soon for a Pizza.

Popped in for lunch, really friendly welcome. Nice clean tables and the beer was spot on. The bar staff were so friendly. What surprised me was just how much choice there was for food. My mother had cheesy chips with bacon bits, which were actually cut up freshly cooked bacon rashers. I had a panini with bacon, mozzarella and tomato. Again freshly cooked, the salad and coleslaw it came with was fresh and plentiful. This really is a gem of a pub. Can't recommend enough. Thank you!

Nice outdoor space, service was spot on only downside personally was the lack of craft beer and IPA selection but that's personal choice. No issues at all

Lovely oldy worldy traditional pub. Lovely atmosphere. Had my first legal pint in this pub when I turned 18 with my dad Eamonn, God rest his soul. My dad came to this pub for many many years, it was his favourite, I have fond memories of sitting out in the lovely beer garden with him and my brother in the summer. They serve lovely home cooked food. Lots of places to park and have a function room that's available for hire. I don't live in Worthing any more, but always pop in for a quick drink and some lunch when we visit. I've been in a lot of pubs in my life, but this one is the only one I'd actually class as a proper pub, it can't be beaten.

Staff friendly, food nice and not too expensive. They even have a best czech beer Staropramen. Toilets very clean. Highly recommend. Would definitely go again soon.
