Been with family on a couple of occasions for both breakfast and for evening meal. Staff are great Holly Carol Natalie and Tina the chef in particular

Had food and drinks at this table table for the first time. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful on arrival :) Food was spot on hot and tasty:) Holly and Gemma helped us with ordering food and recommendations and they did this with a smile and very professional! James was busy helping other customers but he again looked very smily and checked all our food was good in passing! We asked who the chef was and it was Doo - food was extremely nice and hot I got fish and chips and it was cooked perfectly! The pub itself was clean and tidy and can tell staff and owners are proud of there workplace Thank you will be returning again!

I've been here before but never actually had anything to eat, however today I called in and was served by a lovely member of staff called Holly. She poured my pint and asked if I would like to look at the menu and took time out to mention the deals available. This was indeed very helpful and I was offered a table in the restaurant. I decided on the Fish and chips. The fish was nicely battered and sufficient amount of chips with tartar sauce and garden peas. I was pleased with my meal and very impressed with Holly. She is very professional and smart and pleasant with the customers she encountered. Well done and thank you. I will visit again.

We visited the restaurant at John Milne Sunday 29th September, it was towards the end of service. We received a warm welcome and excellent service from the waitresses. The food was delicious and we would highly recommend it. Special mention to Sonya who worked so hard, was friendly and efficient. All the staff working were great.

When we arrived for our meal tonight we was welcomed by Sophie who made us feel welcome straight away. All staff was lovely but we felt like Sophie went above and beyond. Sophie was professional but also down to earth even having a funny conversation with my dad about garden peas haha. Thank you Sophie for making our visit a memorable one. I come over from lytham at least once a month to see family and I stay at premier inn and we usually have an evening meal at John Milne. Sophie is a credit to to establishment and I look forward to seeing her on my next visit

Great food - we had vegetable Thai Green curry and sweet potato, spinach and ricotta lasagne! Sophie was attentive and friendly. Service was quick. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

Very limited choice on the menu. Staff were very efficient and pleasant. The outside seating area was a disgrace, overflowing ash trays which had not been emptied for weeks: Full ash trays shoved under tables and left there: weeds and the likes growing through the patio flags: Breakfast was lovely and value for money, just a shame about the outside area!

Terribly disappointed again. Such a poorly run restaurant. No ice for drinks, no sunday roast even though it was a Sunday. Apparently Sunday roast are available until 6pm but we arrived at 5pm only to be told there was nothing left. Extremely poor vegetarian options. No fish and chips. Tough inedible steak. Potato dippers that were just chips with cheese on! This place is getting worse. We only visited because friend's were staying over in the Premier Inn. Then, to top it all, the bar closed at 9pm even for residents!! Only good thing is that the young staff are doing a grand job serving many unsatisfied customers with a smile

Fantastic breakfast and great service, came for my nephews birthday with our whole family , service was quick and the food delicious. Out waitress holly was really friendly and even brought out nephew a card and a present!

I have been dining in a few restaurants recently and feel I need to say a big thank you to Sonya, Alison and Gemma for making me feel welcome. Their service was second to none. Professional, timely and always with a smile. Nothing seemed to be too much for them. Thank you once again.

Absolutely shocking.. Ladies toilets stank and had Pooh splashed up one of em.. sinks and floor not cleaned for a long time. Tables in the bar area were all sticky had to ask for a cloth.. people smoking vaps in the bar area. Bar staff smelt of B O and had attitude.. We ate dinner there and ordered chicken and rib combo gluten free came with no coleslaw when asked the waitress she came back and said they had none ???? And they didn’t want to make anymore as they said could be cross contamination.. having been a team leader at one of these chains the coleslaw comes in tubs. It’s not freshly made. My husband had coleslaw on his plate. The chips were inedible. We booked for breakfast the day after. The ladies toilets still had the Pooh splashes up the same toilet obviously not been cleaned.. Breakfast was cold and bacon was solid..

The restaurant looks tired and needs updating is the downside. We had the 2 mains £11.49 available 12-6. Also added 2 starters, 1 dessert and a bottle of red wine for £36. It’s not glamorous but it’s good value for the cost. All the food was fine and the service was good. Would definitely visit again.

It was a good job they had plenty of the continental breakfast, because the service for breakfast was shocking. There was nothing wrong with the food when it finally arrived. The coffee machine also kept breaking down but they only had one so there obviously no contingency plan.We booked specially for my wife's birthday. We have been before and the service wasn't has bad.

Was ok, service rather hit & miss! Tables left uncleared! My motto.. never go back to kitchen empty handed!! Meal was average. Seating near Toilet area bit smelly, be a while before we return

Great little restaurant, always fab food and lovely staff, there are usually just the 4 of us regularly, but we had family with us staying at the hotel so we all booked in for dinner. There were 14 of us in total, and the restaurant also had another large booking in of 14 so they were extremely busy, but as always, they were unflustered, and apart from a the food taking a little longer than usual (which we had been pre warned about as it was too large tables) it was all lovely, no issues, hot, fresh and tasty. Thanks to Katie, Rebecca, Soph and Gemma for looking after us all, and special mention to Marco, Ben and Jen in the kitchen, they had their work cut out getting us all fed as quickly as they could. We stay regularly for business, but this is the first time we’ve had the family with us and they were all super happy.

Our daughters have never been keen on this type of restaurant however we find it a comfortable place to enjoy food and drink. Our favourites are the sirloin steak a trio of pies and this is what we enjoyed on our recent visit. The decor...

Even during the busiest of periods the staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Our two boys love having their breakfast here due to how the staff take the time to say hello and talk with them - it's a small gesture that goes along way....

Myself and my partner came down for breakfast Tuesday morning around 8:30 we was Welcomed in by a blonde supervisor who explained how it all worked and took us through to our table. It was freshly cooked to order and plentiful. The buffet was help yourself and fully stocked to all our needs. The whole experience was fantastic until we heard some terrible commotion throughout the bar area of the restaurant Some females with children in nightwear where hurtling abuse at the supervisor and waitress Who calmly and professionally diffused the whole situation and removed the guests .My partner checked if she was ok as she looked a little flustered as she was apologising to those in hearing range , it must off Been very embarrassing and uncomfortable situation to be in, but the smile never left her face .People can be so rude , but the professionalism was second to none. It did not affect our experience in the slightest. We will return . Thank you ladies.

The staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help the many motorists who were stranded in the snow chaos caused by the closure of the M62. They provided shelter for so many people by staying open through the night and supplying food, drinks and most importantly a warm safe place to wait out the night, The landlady was still smiling the following morning despite having had no sleep . Will definitely be back soon in less fraught circumstances.

Stayed here for a friends funeral. The snow caused absolute chaos. Becky is a star, really holding the fort and keeping all the guests happy and satisfied when no other staff could make it in due to the adverse weather conditions. On a side note the food and atmosphere is super.

Stayed next door at the Premier Inn and used the John Milne for all meals over three days; food was plentyful, hot and well presented, no complaints. Hot and cold breakfast, again plenty of choice and each as much as you want (can?) - sadly, do not like runny eggs so knocked a point off the food stars. Good deal on certain wines; buy 2 large glasses get the rest of the bottle free. Staff very friendly with a good selection of beers.

Called for a birthday dinner with friends. Everything with the food was OK. Not sure much was actually made on site just reheated & the prawns in the sharing platter were seriously overcooked! The service was and the staff friendly enough.The place was clean. We will probably be back, for another birthday!

Dropped in for a quick lunch on business. Not quick at all slow service. Only wanted snack ate baked potato and prawns as meal requested was not available. More sauce than substance. Business associate was quite satisfied with meal although portion size not too big

As usual a fantastic breakfast experience. As a local, I am a semi frequent visitor to the John milne... breakfast especially is always tasty and I would say is one of the best in the area. The John milne provides a relaxed atmosphere, where my children love to come for an all u can eat breakfast as do I with friends. Becky and Sarah worked extremely hard to make sure we had everything we needed and are always very friendly and welcoming. x

I have been eating here most days for last 2 weeks where I have been in the hotel next door for working. Service is great, a majority of the staff are amazing, Becky is a strong leader and great to interact with. The lunch team are great, think that's Vicky and Alison?

I have been here for an evening meal for the past 3 weeks due to business. On every visit I have found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. You do have to book a table but that is purely because it gets very busy. The food is always served quickly and is very good value for money. I have worked my way through the menu and have never had a meal that I didn’t enjoy. I would recommend anyone to go there for an affordable, good quality meal and the deserts are amazing.

We visited for a family meal on Boxing Day and even though it was really busy the staff still managed to deliver great service and food. As a large family of 13 to receive all our food together was great, as other restaurants have let us down in the past. The wait time was not too long, seeing how busy it was. Thanks especially to our friendly waitress Rachel who did a great job running around after all our requests.

Went in to see if we could get an evening meal. I Realise it was without booking, but this has never been a problem before. The lady greeted us and asked if we had a reservation, we said no she said the restaurant was fully booked and they had no room at the bar, we were surprised as it seemed quiet! Went into the carpark and checked for a booking later in the week. I realised as I made my booking that I had today's date. And it showed that I could book online for this evening! I would appreciate staff who are truthful and am disappointed as I have used this pub for many years.

Visited today for my birthday lunch with my Wife. We were greeted by a fairly stern lady, possibly the manager, who showed us to a table which we felt wasn't right. I asked to be placed elsewhere, which she agreed to (not asking for much l felt) We were then greeted by one Alison T. who was pleasant, friendly, warm & helpful, so she is a definite asset to the place. The food that followed was on the whole quite good, better than our 1st visit, so while l think there are a few niggles (Men's toilets were a bit mucky & they'd only been open a half hour) not all the staff were upto Alison T's standard from what we saw & the main meals we had (Lasagna & Burger Stack) could've been a bit more generous, on the whole not bad. If you can use the money-off vouchers which seem to be heavily in circulation at the moment, it represents fairly good value for money.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but as I work in a pub, I know that the service I received today was unsatisfactory.

We are regular guests at the Premier Inn and are delighted to see so many familiar faces during each visit to the John Milne; the low turnover of staff correlates well to the high standards of service we enjoy every visit either in the mornings when we are regularly served by Manager Becky and Sarah or in the evening (such as last night) when we were served by Manager Gill and waiter Tom - they are all superb at their jobs. In addition, the food and drinks are great value with lots of offers currently available. Thanks to all the staff for the consistent warm welcome.

Staying here as we are visiting family....lovely friendly staff...Amanda served us first...then Abby brought the food to our table....it was very busy & we were warned there was a wait of 30 mins....our food arrived within this time...& very nice too...Thai red chicken curry with a side of cheesy garlic bread....plenty of staff to make sure everyone was served quickly & efficiently....would thoroughly recommend...

I can not express my delight with the service I received from Amanda, I booked a surprise party for my mums 60th Birthday, Amanda took care of absolutely everything, she was so professional yet friendly and accommodating. We had 33 people of all ages attending, we had the conservatory and it was perfect, the food was excellent and all the other staff looked after us so well , they where so friendly and the whole experience was fantastic! I cant recommend this place and team enough! Thank you for making my mums birthday so special.

I visited here today with my friend after going to the New Costa and found the service and food available shockingly poor. As soon as we entered we were greeted by our server Charlotte, she was friendly and sat us straight down. Our order was taken promptly and food was good value for money. We will be returning again.

We have eaten in the John Milne twice for evening meals during our stay for business and twice for breakfast. The evening meals had rib eye and was cooked to perfection and the second meal was fish and chips which again was top quality. The staff were really friendly (especially Amanda and Rachel ) and gave good meal advice of what was good on the menu and what drinks and sides fitted the main course choice. The breakfast was really fresh and tasty. I would recommend eating here. Top quality.

First time in Rochdale and the friendliest pub i have visited! The manager Gill made sure i was well looked after, warm welcome and service with a smile. Will definately return.

Booked in for 16:30 expecting Sunday Lunch. Sadly no Sunday Lunch available as they had sold out. We had two courses from the main menu and it took so long for the food to arrive. Got out at 18:50. Unlikely to visit again.

Lovely relaxed friendly atmosphere with a good menu. For a party of 9 the service was excellent with all the food served fresh and hot. Nice variety on the menu and everyone was spoils for choice

First time in the john Milne dinning alone seemed daunting then greeted with a warm welcome Sarah big smile I felt right at home. Next it's all you can eat what a great time I was going to have Becky the manager I presume came to take my order what a lovely lady she is. All I can say is I will be returning the breakfast was spot on and them girls are a credit to you smiling even when it got busy nothing to much trouble

We visited today as we had a voucher off for Food. Arrived at the restaurant to see it was tagged onto a Hotel Chain so was not expecting too much from the experience however I was in for a very pleasant surprise. The staff were Friendly and Welcoming without going over the Top. The Lady at the Bar explained the Deal on the Wine and found us a Great place to sit. The Menu is far away from Your average Pub Grub and In the end I choose The Lamb Rump and My Partner the Deluxe Burger. The Food arrived and was as good as It was Described and the Lamb Rump cooked {rare] exactly as I would have cooked it myself. The restaurant was busy but not packed so the ambiance was just right. Lucy who served us throughout the meal was attentive but not over the Top. I would highly recommend this Dining experience to anyone looking for somewhere better than your average Pub Meal

Came with our son who is an adult and as usual we where all looked after nothing seems to much trouble and the food was as good as ever . If you have a meal thats on the lunch club menu they don't alter the potion size like some similar establishments Becky is a star and can't do enough to help I've been eating here for years and honestly recommend this place

Went on a Sunday teatime, did not book and as a result we had to sit in the bar. Still got served by a very tired and stressed waitress but she did her best. Our party was three adults and two children, told on ordering that there was a thirty minutes wait which was not exceeded. The food came it was very tasty although sauces appeared to be being rationed or they were running out as it was very busy. From the curry, rib rack, burgers and a vegetarian all was good and the place is in good condition and appearance. We will call again

Went for a roast dinner with my hubby and son yesterday..if you on on a sunday make sure you arrive before 5pm! Just to make sure they have food left. We were told there was only 2 dinners left which when arrived were barely warm and resembled kids portions. I also wanted lemonade..no lemonade! My hubby was back and forward from the bar telling me what they didn't have, to make matters worse there was a staff member mopping up who turned to my hubby and said there's a half an hour wait on food as well..then she started laughing! It wasn't even busy. We've been here before for a drink after a meal somewhere else I wanted a cocktail off the menu, they didn't have two of the ingredients..staff have really gone downhill, after 9pm they just want you out so they can go home. Won't be going back.

Well we waited an hour and 15 mins. It wasn’t even busy and then the food was horrible. Steaks all not cooked right! One was rare (not well done). The children’s burger came on a bun that was like a rock! I couldn’t even bite it. I asked for another bun.... this took ages! At which point my daughter was fed up and ate the chips staring at her burger. It came warm as the muffins are frozen! So they had to defrost.

Birthday breakfast for father in law. Adult to children party of 10 people. Wide variety of food on offer to suit all tastes all you can eat from fruit to full English. Good friendly helpful staff.

My other half had a voucher for 40% off at the John Milne Table Table Restaurant (and i use that term loosely) I had never heard of the place to be honest and imagined a quaint English pub foody place. NOPE. First thing to grab your attention as you pull on to the car park is the Premier Inn right next door. So if anyone reading this has travelled anywhere on our great motorway system you will know what too expect next. Its to be honest ok for your tea on your companys tab but for anything else dont bother. Starters prawn cocktail (8 baby prawns and salad nearly £5.00.garlic mushrooms and Barbeque Sauce? Barbeque Sauce? I ordered 10 ounce rib eye steak medium rare got one well done and tough. ordered another and the classic rushed steak order syndrome. Blood dripping off it because not been rested . Staff very pleasent place clean. Would I go back again? Not a cat in hell chance. Havester twice as good and a lot better value for money.

We have had another very successful visit to the John Milne.As usual the staff were a credit to the management, really professional and courteous. It's a shame another member of the public found it necessary to be rude and begin shouting at Amanda when all she was trying to do was help! However we didn't let it spoil our evening, food was very tasty and lovely and hot when we got it.

Came for a meal with family. It's really nice that you can chop and change around menu...like remove the fried onions, I don't want the sauce etc. Food is freshly cooked and service is good. I'd recommend to anyone.

Excellent food and service was fantatsic. We were served by Emily and she made a real effort with our little girl. The manager Sarah also made a great effort with her drawing pictures and Emily made her a special ice cream. We Will be going back!!

We enjoyed our visit to the John Milne to celebrate my son and daughter in law's anniversary. The waitress was very friendly and took our order straight away and brought an activity sheet and crayons to keep our 5 year old grandson amused while we waited for our food. We ordered a sharing platter and garlic bread which was adequate for the five adults. The main meals comprising of 2 steak and merlot pies, battered haddock, burger and sea bass fillets were enjoyed and everyone left a clean plate. The grandson was happy with his burger and mini corn on the cob.

Teníamos el desayuno ambos días y servido por la misma mujer, que incluso a primera hora de la mañana tenía una sonrisa en su rostro y una actitud encantadora. Por qué no nos recordaba Briony y mostró un interés de visitar para preguntarme si nos lo pasamos bien en la boda. La comida buenísima, el ambiente y el personal genial, todos ayudaron a hacer que nuestro viaje excelente.

I have been using the Milne for many a year for coffee and the odd bite to eat and today I was asked by the cheeky landlady to make a review. Truth be said Becky you are a star. Your like milnrow' own Peggy Mitchell, even after years and let's say a lot more years you have never lost that smile and banter and it is just what you want In a morning. Someone who can do their job efficiently, professionally whilst having the charm. she sends you off with a smile on your face. mad as a box off frogs, a real breath off fresh air. some of the evening staff can be a little bit robotic and its a little sad, as it is local pub attracts locals, but no one is rude or off putting. the only down fall is it can become a bit over busy, especially in the hotter weather, you can see the struggle and the pressure but they deliver everytime for me , the team moral is outstanding, deserving recognition for it, i could not do what they do.all in all its a good spot a good price with a great smile. keep up good work becky and copam.

Poor service and very tough medium cooked steak!! On more than one occasion!! The toilets are bogging. The table's are sticky.

Paramos para un almuerzo ligero. El lugar estaba bastante concurrido, ya que muchas de las familias parecían estar comiendo allí, quizás debido a las vacaciones. Menú de comida de pub "decente", elección habitual, primeros y segundos platos, parrillas y pudines. Tiene un menú especial de ahorro de tiempo para comer es una excelente relación calidad-precio.
