Are your normal tapas size dishes like these? 4x small gyoza 2x bao bun 2x thin slice of pork belly 6x small prawns and you charge £9-10 for each dish? Or we have been ripped off?

We were given pretty short notice to find a a venue for our son and daughter in law’s wedding reception. They wanted something very informal ,within striking distance of Pocklington and the flexibility to offer a variety of buffet food. Sean from JJ’s delivered on all fronts.He was great to deal with and clearly runs a business with very happy ,well trained staff. It was perfect to meet our daughter in laws family on an informal basis We will definitely be visiting Allerthorpe golf club again to enjoy JJ’s hospitality.We also plan to soon visit their new venture, the re- opened Plough in Allerthorpe village Thanks again Sean. We had a great experience here!! We stayed at the “JJs lodge” for 2 lovely nights, and ate at JJs kitchen one evening. The food and cocktails are ace and the staff are brilliant too! Big shout out to Jo who took our order, served our food & drinks, and checked us in earlier that day; giving us all the info we needed to find our lodge. Fab at her job! We will definitely be coming back here with friends for another nice getaway holiday.

Just finished eating our lunch here for the first time and we will be back! Amazing value - we had a sharing platter which my husband and I shared. £35 and it was huge! A pizza, nachos, fries and one tapas portion also a drink each. Friendly service from the guys. Very quiet, only one other group in but it was early, midday.

Good food, that is reasonably priced in a friendly atmosphere and attentive staff.

The food is excellent but the service is a bit slow, long waiting time.

My wife and I had a fabulous lunch, I got the pocklington pie and my wife got the tandoori chicken kebab both were very generous portions and absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend and will be returning ourselves. Staff were very attentive and polite.

Food was great, service was a little slow to start with but sped up later on, just felt like they were a member of staff down all evening. Food more than made up for it though.

We came from Manchester for some nice food whilst celebrating my birthday and staying locally to the allerthorpe area, we paid nearly £45 for food, part of the food to be cold and the burger and chips to taste like it was from a supermarket out of the freezers! The pizza was cold and hard. Also the cheesy chips weir not even melted. Really not impressed after coming from Manchester being recommended this place and it being disappointing😔

The food was great however we haven’t been able to get it since as the restaurant is always operating on special schedules, which they don’t update on their website until minutes before the new closing time. Three times now on 2 seperate trips we have planned out day around their opening times on the site only to arrive or try and order to find a pop up saying the new times that didn’t appear until a few minutes before the new time. This needs to be fixed as other than that all good

Top notch British pub. Quality pub food and big portions, tasty desserts too! Can recommend the lasagna and bluemoon burger. Cocktails are a great price too. Fantastic service from the staff even though it was busy.

JJ POCKLINGTON - God awful! Regular customer at the allerthorpe restaurant and love it there, decided to go to Pocklington and what a mistake that was; -Poor service -Cold chips, dry schnitzel, beef in the burnt Lasagne was more mush than proper beef mince. -Fly on rim of glass and they didn't even notice, until i pointed out at table. -Hardly eaten food and nobody even questioned if everything was ok! - 2 men at the bar were so intoxicated he couldn't even string a sentence together, was super annoying and intimidating and should not have been in there let alone being served more alcohol!! Needless to say we quickly had to find a member of staff to settle the bill. Hot footed it to Allerthorpe on the way Home for a friendly welcoming service, dessert and drink as we were Hank Marvin! We also told the staff at Allerthorpe about the diabolical meal and service we had just experienced at a restaurant that wasnt even slightly busy. Show less

Haven’t been for awhile but doesn’t disappoint. Quick and friendly service, lovely, tasty and fresh food, clean and comfortable restaurant area. Desserts looked fab.

Stayed onsite for the weekend with the wife, and we came here for an evening meal it was amazing. The food was absolutely amazing. 10 out of 10. The flavours were brilliant, and the portion size is really big. 👌. The staff was really friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend it, and I will be back next time we stay in the park. 👍🏻👌🏻

Unfortunately I am unable to leave 0 stars or I would, I can’t comment on the food as unfortunately we did not get to that stage. I am commenting solely on their inclusivity of people with disabilities. My daughter who is 3 has autism/non-verbal and daily only eats chicken nuggets from McDonald’s and certain pre packed snacks. We arrived and ordered food and drinks. We then give our daughter her snacks, a waitress then came over to state she could not eat food not purchased from the establishment (I understand this of course for neurotypical children) I then as I always went on to explain how she has Autism and has a very limited diet and this is usually understood). However I was told she would have to speak with the manager and when returned was told she could not eat her nuggets but could eat her pre-packed food this once and if we were to return she couldn’t despite them being now well aware of her additional needs. My daughter was enjoying her nuggets so if I was to stop her when she has limited to non understanding would result in her becoming extremely distressed. We then had to cancel our food order and pay for our drinks before we quickly left to ensure my daughter was not distressed. We did not feel this establishment was understanding or adaptable at all and left feeling very upset. At one point the waitress went on to say they serve nuggets there leading to us feeling the need to have to explain in detail how she will only eat nuggets from McDonald’s in that exact packaging. I sincerely hope that this review is is taken into consideration for any other further family’s or children with additional needs who visit your establishment.

Ate on boxing day and received fantastic service as always. Spoke to the owner who was saying they were fully booked throughout Christmas. Not surprising really. Recommend to all.

The place is lovely, the staff are also great, but the food.... Was awful, the ribs were bland, dry and overdone and the bangkok 'crispy' chicken was soggy and drenched in sauce. The pizza was so bad it had to be sent back and the currywurst sausage was the worst I've ever tried. We were with a large party and nobody had much good to say. It was also very overpriced.

Food was hot ✔️ cauliflower cheese dry and no sauce and way over priced✔️ pie was ok ✔️service…. Nice not to be hampered but was no light on the service box for central heating ( all customers had coats on ) if staff were more present then they may have noticed…… frozen 🥶

Had a lovely meal at JJs Restaurant Allerthorpe today. I tried the new Thia Green Curry which was delightful, and would definately recommend it. They also source a local lager from Elvington which was beautiful. There is so much choice on the menu to suit eveyone. You can either sit in the restaurant or out on the patio, which is set within landscaped gardens. Had a lovely day, with lovely food and drink. Keep the good work up JJs.

Me and my mum travelled from Middlesbrough and are currently staying at the lodges and we booked to come here for dinner tonight, from the minute we walked in we were greeted with the most pleasant outgoing girl ( we are sorry we didn’t get her name) she moved our table to cater to my mum being in a wheelchair, we were served quickly and the food was to die for honestly one of the best meals we have had, drinks were served quickly and pleasantly and nothing was to much trouble. We asked the girl if she knew of any taxi firms that could take us into the little village and she came back with a board with numbers for us she really was a breathe of fresh air as we didn’t get her name I’m hoping she will see this so she knows we appreciate your customer service tonight it’s not often you see this anymore. We will defiantly be coming back before we leave.

Food does not live up to the prices they charge. The restaurant itself is lovely. Overall bad experience, hopefully you take reviews on board and improve the quality of the food.

Will be going back again. We had this ‘Bangkok Chicken’ which is sweet and sour chicken but was really nice. My husband had a sunday roast and I had the wildboar hotdog which were both really good.

We have just had a lovely Sunday lunch at JJ’s at the golf club in Allerthorpe. The service was very good and food yummy. The Sunday lunch is a beef and chicken combo and everything was very fresh. Couldn’t fit in a dessert but did take a cake from their amazing selection for later. Reasonably priced, lovely comfortable surroundings and clean smart toilets.

Stopped to eat at Jjs at allerthorpe 3 times in a week but it’s a bit of a mixed bag some parts of the menu are excellent the tandoori kebabs the Canadian snitzels and burgers are all excellent the service is great drinks brought quickly and the light systems works well now to the bad points the menu in the restaurant menu doesn’t match the online menu on the last day of my stay on the site all of us decided to go all out on the ribeye steak at £32.50 each online it said it come with onion rings mushroom grilled tomato chips and slaw upon ordering it was confirmed the onion rings grilled tomato and mushroom did not come with the dish they said you must be getting confused with the second restaurant in pocklington but there second restaurant doesn’t serve steak only allerthorpe does. Once this £32.50 steak arrived massive disappointment a low quality piece of ribeye like it’s from Aldi with chips and slaw ordered cheese sauce which was poured all over my steak the cheese sauce was watery and bland. why wasn’t it put in a jug I have know idea. Surely the chef can’t be happy sending these steaks out. it’s was a complete mess on a plate and a very disappointing meal end the week after such good meals before it overall its a good place to eat if you choose correctly

The food and service is great at JJs Bar & Kitchen (especially the evening menu) and sooo much to choose from! Amazing chicken Caesar salad with pita. We had a free breakfast included in our stay although it is on the more expensive side if you are planning to stop here and eat from the breakfast menu. However, the portions are generous sizes. The food is brought out quickly and hot, they have lots of attentive staff available offering everyone table service. Lots of beverage choice also; alcohol, cocktails on draft & a coffee machine in-house. Thanks for having us, I would visit again! 🥙🍛🥞🍳

I can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant and their amazing staff. I visited yesterday and had booked the wrong JJ’s restaurant and turned up here to find they were very busy and fully booked. I’d had a run in with a member of staff in the park and was feeling pretty stressed out with 2 hungry children. Staff were so accommodating they found a place to sit for us but warned it would be a longer wait as we were not booked. They cancelled the other reservation for me and were just so nice to us. My children were constantly pressing the cube for service (as they liked the flashing lights) and staff were really patient with them and didn’t seem to mind at all despite being rushed off their feet. The food was absolutely worth the wait. I can see why this place is always fully booked.

Brilliant food and drink, fantastic location and the service is 2nd to none I had the barbecue ribs I thought they had got the of a dinosaur, they were that big 😜 very tasty

Food was good and kids portions wellsized tandoori kebab was fantastic only downside was even though we stayed on site it was too busy to cater for us if ordering to sit in or take out which was a nightmare having to trail 4 kids all over to get some food for them

Having been to JJ's several times we've never had a bad meal. Staff are always attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

The atmosphere of the place is very friendly and welcoming. However the menu seems to be quite lacking, after i ordered a garlic bread, margherita pizza and pepperoni pizza. The garlic bread seemed like a garlic flatbread bought from a local shop like ASDA with added cheese and was a little over cooked. The margherita pizza was nothing special, a simple pizza with sparse seasoning in the sauce used ,potentially a little undercooked, the pepperoni had uncooked dough halfway throughout and had to be sent back, the replacement was much better. May i also note that the service for two pizzas was incredibly slow, after taking our order a two top was seated next to us, ordered, and served with plenty of time before receiving our order. I would like to state that the two girls serving on the day we went were keen-eyed and attentive and extraordinarily lovely, the male server who originally served us was very attentive but to a severe degree where he would just stand against the bar and stare at me and my partner until it was extremely noticeable for us, whilst doing nothing else. Roughly £50 for everything mentioned plus 3 cocktails.

The first dish I ordered which I was told was mild heat wise by one of the waiters was actually too hot for me and he did not mention it had jalapeños on so the guy behind the till took my meal back and I chose something else which was very kind of him, the food was nice. They allowed my dog in which was an huge plus and it was quite relaxing, the prices were also reasonable for a meal! The only reason I’m giving this a 4 star is because I’m quite a picky eater and I feel like people should be told what’s going on or in their food by either waiter/waitress, as usually where I’m from we don’t have jalapeños in chilli, it would’ve saved time and hassle, especially for the guy behind the till. Oh and the bakes & cakes were lovely!

Clearly a lot of work gone in to make this place how it is today, all staff are an absolute joy and the place is immaculately clean, food amazing and cooked to perfection, bloomin good pint to wash it down with also. Thanks.

Found this place on Google and thought we would give it a try. We didn't come for the golf (even though it's in the Allerthorpe Golf and Country Club), we came purely for food. The place is very nice upon arrival and the staff are very friendly and approachable. The choice on the menu is quite varied and the specials are interesting - something for everyone. We had the Halloumi kebab and Retro burger - they didn't disappoint! The burger was one of the best I've tasted in a long time and the chips were amazing! The kebab, I was told, was very good, just a very large portion! Prices were very reasonable and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. In fact it was that good we came back for lunch again 2 days later - this time on a Saturday. We were expecting it to be much busier, but as the weather was attrocious, it was fairly quiet. This time I tried the Southern Fried Chicken burger and my wife tried the Schnitzel.... Again the food was very good, portions again were a little large, but this time we took some cakes home with us.... They were good too! The staff on the second visit were just as enthusiastic, polite and helpful as before and we really enjoyed ourselves. All in all a good place for food and drink, not overly priced, but excellent food! Highly recommended!

Fantastic restaurant. Really friendly staff and a lovely cosy yet modern feel. This restaurant is dog friendly and had a cute dog bowl water keg dispenser for the pooches. The meals are fabulous and very generous portions. We loved the service light on the table as this meant the staff could react quickly to those wanting to order or needing assistance. I have an onion intolerance and the staff were really accommodating, with the chef even willing to tweak the steak pie dish to cater for my requirements. I couldn’t ask for any more from a restaurant and we will definitely be returning again soon. 10/10

Went tonight whilst stopping In a lodge on site. My partner had ribs which fell off the bone and were melt in the mouth. I had tandoori kebab, best tandoori chicken I have eaten. Staff where great and very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Came a few days ago as part of a table of 7. We booked for 7pm, the waitresses were great there was no pressure on us to order quickly as we were all busy chatting away. When we did order the food came out and was lovely. Everyone loved their meal, only thing i would say was the portions were huge I was so full. Great choice of drinks as well. When we have finished eating they didn't rush us out the door like some places do. Will definitely come back.

We had a breakfast and evening meal here this weekend and would give 5 stars to both visits. The staff here are very pleasant and made us feel very welcomed.

Booked a table of 10 for my 50th birthday and so glad we did. The menu has something for everyone to enjoy, the food all came out at the same time and was piping hot. The service and atmosphere was absolutely brilliant with all staff being very attentive and helpful. I would highly recommend JJ’s Bar & Kitchen to anyone.

Great atmosphere, nice staff, food ok but lacks imagination. Menu looks extensive but, on inspection, much is just a variation on a burger type theme. Not haute cuisine, more enjoyable fodder.

Ordered a takeaway for tonight, placed the order last night and paid. Received an email this morning to say our order has been missed! And we will get a refund. We originally booked a table but had to cancel as you cannot eat food outside (our dog is with us so can’t dine inside) as they are short staffed, we were not told this when we booked and have not brought sufficient food with us for our stay as had booked our evening meals at JJ’s. My partner called in on Friday evening to see if we could order a takeaway for that night and double checked everything was ok for our bookings. it was then he was told that we could not eat outside due to staff shortages nor could we eat inside with our a dog, so he cancelled both our evenings bookings for tables. A female member of staff advised him of this. We then had to spend time and money on food for evening meals from a supermarket as we obviously hadn’t brought food with us for evening meals. great start to our holidays

Been a few times now and the food has been incredible every time. Great gluten free food for coeliacs, the ribs are to die for! Staff are always friendly and attentive.

Very disappointing visit to the restaurant today. Complained about the fish and chips that were obviously over-cooked chips very dark and the batter on the fish very dark and very hard. The worst part to the visit was the bad attitude we felt the staff had towards our complaint. We will not be using this eating facility again.

Really nice food - especially the dirty fries and nice staff. They did get our drinks wrong and tried to charge us twice (honest mistake) but all rectified really quickly through good customer service.

Plenty of choice on the menu so it took us group of ladies a while to decide what to pick, plenty of choice for the vegetarian in the group. Quick service and all the group were happy with their choice of food. We're already looking forward to returning at the end of the month 😊

Me and my partner have enjoyed several meals here but the last few times it has sadly been lacking and each time even more so. Noteably the last time we came I ordered a butterfly chicken which I had ordered before, everything looked beautiful but when I cut open the chicken it was pink and looked uncooked on the top, although it worried me I tried the chicken underneath that seemed cooked, it tasted gone off. I immediately felt ill. I asked a member of staff about it, she went back to the kitchen and said butterfly chicken is meant to be pink and like that, I however clarified it was more the taste of it being gone off that bothered me. She came back again to say that the chicken is freshly delivered each day so it couldn't be. In the meanwhile some food from another table was sent back to the kitchen for being undercooked. On top of that my partner's burger was burnt to a crisp. We weren't expecting a refund or anything like that, but a simple apology or a polite response would have been appreciated instead of making us feel like we were dirt. I went home to be up in the night with food poisoning. After going there for years since it first opened and throughly recommending it to everyone we know, we shall no longer be returning and will definitely not recommend after the last few experiences.

Nice food, great service, very reasonably priced. Came here twice during our stay at Allerthorpe Golf Club for food plus a handful of times for drinks. Definitely recommend.

I know I live locally (Melbourne) so could be seen as a little biased but this is the best food and atmosphere for miles around now. The staff are friendly and attentive (take a bow Daisy and Sandy) and I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area - or already living there. The portions are large and the menu varied and well-priced so everyone should find something they want to eat. On a sunny day sitting oustide overlooking the start of the golf course is a very pleasant surrounding - and the Krombacher is pretty good too !!!

Visited today as guests on the holiday park. There were no foods available for someone with allergies (dairy and gluten). We ordered coffees only to be told they actually couldn't make them with a dairy free milk, and then we ordered some deserts as treats for the kids but they'd run out of what we had ordered. Our youngest changed their order to a brownie flavored with honey combe but what actually came was a tiffin. We ordered a summer fruit flavoured j20 and got a pear and guava flavor. All in all a pretty disappointing experience, although in fairness the Staff were friendly.

Golf club/caravan site restaurant but anyone is welcome. Nicely refurbished modern restaurant with a great menu, but beware you find it difficult to choose there are so many lovely dishes! And portions are enormous… I had the schnitzel which was lovely but way too much of it so no room for pudding. Huge outside seating area, dogs welcome!

Service was a little slow but food was good. Kids pizza's were enormous and thoroughly enjoyed. Ribs were tasty with plenty of meat. Would recommend if stopping at the golf and country park

Food was really good, we ordered the ribs, the Greek kebab and a side order of tempura prawns. The ribs came off the bone easily and was very tasty. The food portions were very substantial. The only criticism is that most of the staff was reluctant to serve food if you hadn't booked a table and was a walk in order. People don't mind waiting for food if they are told the wait time so that shouldn't be an issue. The saving grace was the blonde server though. She was polite, knew the menu and was very attentive. Overall it was a good experience. I think I would visit again.

Had a great time. Sat outside in the lovely weather overlooking views of the golf course. We had the chicken tikka kebab (not really a kebab but a chicken breast but very tasty) and chicken bacon and halloumi salad. Generous portions and good value for money. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back when wanting good quality fast food in a lovely location.
