Jhas Tandoori Restaurant in Bexley

This place was recommended by a friend and we've tried and tested many curry houses and I have to say this was the best Indian takeaway we've had. We ordered tandoori chicken and veg samosas for starters = great. For mains we had black daal, chickpea curry, aubergine and potatoe curry, saag and lamb rogan: it all tastes very authentic and we were even asked how spicy we wanted the food. The food took about an hour to prepare even though we were told it would take 40mins but for me, this shows it wasnt frozen or microwaved, it was fresh. We will definitely order from this restaurant again and also recommend it to others. The cost was perfect too. If you have an issue with spices and chillies, even without chillies, the spice does have a good kick but that's the great flavour, the lamb rogan was perfectly spiced with chilli with a lovely thick sauce: if you're a fan of cold/or hot Indian takeaway for breakfast then you'll just have your second hit of wondrous food again haha.

Visited Jhas yesterday with friends and returned again tonight with my husband. Did our food both nights to our taste and was delicious authentic Punjabi cuisine. Lovely and clean with great service and reasonably priced - well worth a visit.

I eat here regularly, and the food is absolutely lovely everytime! The customer service is great as well, the owner and waiters will chat to you, they give you a clean hot plate when your food is ready, then they bring the food to you freshly cooked.

Jhas Tandoori has been my favourite place to have a hearty Indian meal in the city! The portions are great, the service is excellent and the food is simply mouth-watering! The owners give personal attention to their customers and are always hands on making the overall experience very personable. A special mention for their Saag Paneer, Saag Chicken, Butter Chicken and Jhas Biryani. Truly delicious and finger licking food! Can’t recommend it enough!

We seem to wait a while for drink orders to be taken to be told wasn’t sure they had the wine we chose a 2nd one to be brought one white and one red to choose from.??? Popadoms were good. We ordered onion Bhajii to be told afterwards they had none!!!Seem to wait a long time for starters to arrive and even longer for the mainl. Both were below average and bland, had better tasting frozen meals Maybe it’s our personal taste however we found the best thing was the bread. After paying the bill we had to ask for our change. Shame we were looking forward to a nice curry I actually left hungry!!

My husband and I ordered over the phone and paid by card. They took our details over the phone. Today I noticed that £300 has been spent from our joint account and had to contact the bank to try and get this money back! To say I’m fuming is an understatement. We are hard working people and someone working for this establishment has committed fraud!

We have recently moved in the area and are very glad to have discovered this lovely place. The restaurant has a great vibe, beautiful décor and very comfortable seating. The food was just so delicious! The Chicken Tikka Biryani was the best I have ever had. Moreover the staff there is so lovely and attentive. They were very happy to make dishes specific to our needs and the lady there very kindly suggested alternatives as per our special requirements. Pricing is also very reasonable. All in all it was a very pleasant experience. We have definitely found our new favourite restaurant.

I have eaten in and ordered takeout. The lady taking orders is about as intelligent as a Pindi! She has gotten our order wrong twice and when I've phoned to enquire she made out it was my fault. Definitely a joke! I have been coming here and getting takeout for the last 12 years and never had an issue but an enjoyable experience. Boy has that gone majorly downhill in the last year and a half. Get rid of the Indian woman!

Well what a pleasant surprise for a local restaurant. The food was great especially the Keema, which was as good as home cooked.

Has some different options, as well as the "old favourites" you'd expect in an Indian restaurant. Owner is very accommodating & we had a lovely meal. They do also have a very busy take away/delivery service on site, via a different entrance.

Our 3rd visit here, the owner can't do enough for you. This time squeeze d us in before a private party. Very tasty and generous portions at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend you won't be disappointed.

I unfortunately placed an order from this establishment and had a rather bad experience in which I would not recommend to others. I was told our food would take "about an hour" and it actually took 1 hour AND 50 minutes. I called 3 times inbetween and was told 3 different things each time on when my food will come. The food came and not to my suprise at this point we had an item missing (which at a later point was told I didn't actually order it) and the food was as I expected cold. We had to microwave the food. Not really what you want to do on a Saturday night. I called to leave this feedback and management didn't really seem to care. They tried to brush me off and offer me a 'discount' on my next order. Having this experience I did not really want to order again and I would reccomned you don't either. Poor experience, overpriced food that was cold. If you want these things then go ahead and order.

A pleasant local surprise. The food was fantastic, especially the keema with peas. The service matched the quality food. Cannot wait to go back.

Went along on the idea of trying a new restaurant out, not upset in the slightest. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, without the pounce-y edge you can sometimes get. Decor wise, it felt loved, clean and a cut above the rest, not the plastic table cloths that are whipped off for the guests. The music was actual background music not just music played to drown out conversation, was also a good mix of the what you expect to hear in a curry house and more feel good tunes. By the time we were leaving, it was getting pretty full, but there was no hurrying from the staff. Both the gentleman seemed to have more experience serving and managed great a little chat mid-meal that was friendly and professional without seeming to expect much. The lady that served us seemed less experienced in serving but was very sweet and what she didn't know through experience was made up for in enthusiasm. She also made a very good drinks recommendation for me. The food was cooked fantastically, I had Chicken Tikka Masala, it was great! the chicken was cooked to perfection so it was still juicy and the flavour was spiced but the emphasis was definitely on flavour. Definitely enjoyed our visit, will be back for more yummy food!

I've eaten at Jhas and had takeaways from here many times over the years and I can't fault it. The staff are so friendly particularly the lady who works there, food is so tasty and always prompt. Would highly recommend

Que habíamos notado este restaurante durante años pero nunca había molestado a probarlo. En la zona hay varios restaurantes indios, así que puedes ser mimados. Afortunadamente hace unos meses o así llamamos y ahora se ha convertido en nuestro restaurante indio local de elección.

Esta es la mejor comida india para llevar, se lo recomiendo. Ser indio y habiendo comido currys yo toda mi vida. Sin embargo especifica que no como crema en mi masala de paneer (que creo que no todos modos) que también odio demasiado aceite en...

Visitamos este restaurante por primera vez la noche pasada, y tengo que decir que fue fantástico. La comida era estupenda, y las recomendaciones de la personal dieron en el clavo. También nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos y también eran muy serviciales.

Decidimos hacer las cosas fáciles y decidimos pedir comida para llevar desde aquí basado en las críticas que leí aquí. Pedí un cordero biryani, cebolla y carne bhaji samosas y un nan simple. En primer lugar, el curry de verduras era una consistencia salsa finas y las verduras congeladas verduras mezcladas parecía.

Me he pasado años Jhas pasado, nunca conducir sabiendo lo que era como dentro o lo ocupado que es porque el cristal esmerilado. Como está lejos de cualquier pubs y estaciones no había estado en posición de descenso de un capricho antes. Cómo desearía que hubiera sido una historia diferente!

I first visited this place about 20 years ago. Since then I've had take-away and sit in too. It has always been excellent food but a few years ago it was practically empty. Over that time period it appears to have been over-taken by other local restaurants which we have chosen for a curry.Just as an off moment I wanted a curry this particular night and as I was on my own - my wife and son away on different trips I decided to give it a call, just because I wanted a chicken vindaloo.I always remember Jhas as providing a Vindaloo exactly as it should be in terms of look, taste and heat. I haven’t been somewhere that has beaten it and in fairness have shied away from them for something more conventional. This particular night I ordered for collection and was told it was a 35 minute wait, which was odd but happily accepted. When I got to the restaurant the take-away side door was closed so I went into the main restaurant.I was amazed – it was packed with very happy diners and has clearly had something of a makeover. I chatted with a lady who appeared to head of house while I waited a few minutes for my order and was surprised to hear it has been open all the time I’ve been away.I’m not sure what caused the trade to drop off but they are clearly back in the game. The service was good and the food was absolutely spot-on. Once again a fantastic tasty chicken Vindaloo and decent value too. This also explained why I had to wait longer than I expected. So, it looks like Jhas will be back on our list to visit as well as use for take-aways.

Have had meals at this restaurant on many occasions and food fressh,tasty and no stinting on quantity!! Had a birthday celebratory dinner on 13/8 - 14 in total. Table well laid out, service of all three female waitresses: senior staff & 2 young assistants, were attentive. Normally it isn't very busy on a saturday as far as I can recall but on this occasion,perhaps due to our party and few other customers arriving the restaurant was buzzing with activity. Although we had a long wait after starters to main, everything was well organised,our party had a fabulous evening. Definitely recommend Jhas as a place to enjoy delicious food! Compliments to the Chef(s) too!

We were pleasantly surprised by the lovely, comfortable and relaxed environment, coupled with friendly, welcoming and attentive staff, The service was timely and the food was beyond delicious. A definite must!

We had a take away from Jhas for the first time Saturday night, and I had the strangest Chicken Passanda of my life.It was like a thick white tasteless sauce with coconut and dry chicken, the sag aloo was also very spicy, again never known this form all the Indians i have eaten in/from.My husband enjoyed his Chicken madras, but he did comment that the chicken was also dry.We will try it again, maybe choosing different dishes......

We loved this restaurant so much that we asked them to cater our wedding. They agreed and done a beautiful job - our family are still talking about it 2 years later! The food is hot and fresh, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend this restaurant to everyone and can't wait to go back for our next "date night"!

After a recent visit this has become our favourite sit down Indian in the area Rob the owner makes you feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious and not at all greasy like some Indians can be, especially the nan breads and onion bhajis. We have been back several times and will continue to do so.

Had a Christmas do here. Food was very shocking to say the least. Cramped. Not authentic in the slightest.Grab yourself an ASDA meal deal as it is considerably better.

Love the ambience ( Mickey Flannagan) of this place. No dated/fading table cloths and out dated decor here. It's fresh/clean and very welcoming. Lovely staff (Julie) so attentive and informative. Allows you to ponder and not feel pressured into ordering. Food was presented lovely and hot and tastyIf marks were in emojis mine would be...☺️

10 out of 10 for effort and comedy value...8 out of ten for the food which was value for money...The young new waiter is hilarious and he doesn't even know it... great valentines night 2015. would gladly go again just to eat popadoms whilst watching the waiter.. It's like a mr bean sketch show.. He does have potential though

I have been to this restaurant once with my husband last year .We were made to feel unwelcomed and food was bland and tasteless. Never went there again. I was knackered today and late coming home so I thought that I would give them another go and grab a takeaway on my way home . I went in and there were only 3 couples in there but waitress was in a frenzy . I was asked to go in and stand near the bar but on my way there I was blocked by the food trolley which another waiter very conveniently bought in as I was going past and decided not to move wherein I changed my path.Then I noticed an offer for Thursday while I was waiting for the waitress to finish arguing in the back which I could clearly hear. When she came in I asked for the offer to be taken as a takeaway which I was refused ( portions must be too small for a takeaway I presume) and was told it is an eat in offer . when I pointed out that it was not mentioned anywhere on the poster, I was told the poster would be sorted out but the offer would not be honoured. As I was so tired I just kept quiet and ordered my food but was told as it was under £10 I could pay by card. I have used other restaurants abs takeaway s but have never had such shoddy customer service anywhere. Will never be using them even if I am dying !!!

I cannot believe that I have lived just down the road from this restaurant for fifteen years and only gone there this evening,.The food, the service, the friendly welcome could not be beaten......I feel cheated out of fifteen years fantastic food!

Jhas restaurant on Tuesday 12th with my family as usual waitress juli and Rob owner were very kind food was amazing starters were fresh and out in a timely fashion as was the main course if we don't make it into the restaurant. We always get it delivered very pleased with everything and will be back in there as soon as I can

I visited jhas restaurant on 11/10/13 with my family we have used this restaurant before a few times once again never disappoints waitress juli very friendly a warm welcome as was the owner rob starters were out in a timely fashion and I would recommend the prawn puri delicious as was the rest of the starters the main course was perfect tasty tender chicken with the right spice a definite yes in my book. Jhas restaurant offers a very warm welcome and friendly atmosphere I will definetly be going back and would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone 10 out 10 all in.

I was absolutely disgusted with my experience at this curry house, me and my husband have been to a lot of curry houses in the area and this curry house is one of the worst I have every been to in my life. We ordered Chicken Vinderloo, the chicken was processed, the sauce was like this red weird gunge, a bit like an experiment gone wrong I can imagine a curry from Iceland would of tasted better and would of been better quality. We had a Keema Nan bread that was like a squashed Sausage Roll. Never in my whole years have I has such an odd curry like this before! the good side was that the Welsh Lady serving us was very nice!I believe that any nice reviews on this site must be fake!Take my advise if you are a curry lover

I've eaten curry from street vendors through to Michelin starred. I don't like to leave bad reviews but I tell it like it is. When trying a new restaurant I tend to order the same dishes so as to be a fair comparison. If the food's good then on subsequent visits you can finesse or experiment with the dishes on the menu and most restaurants don't mind this. The starters we ordered were a test to see if the oil being used was clean [it was] and the food freshly prepared [it wasn't]. We ordered two completely different mains yet they were almost identical insofar as being chicken in red gloop and pretty tasteless. Sorry Jhas but in 30 years of eating curry this was the least enjoyable. If you want a better curry you'd be better off going to Iceland.

I have been using Jhas for many years, the food is excellent.I have never seen so many indian families eating in a restaurant. Speaks for it self!The chicken Jalfrezi & meat methi are to die for.

I visited jhas restaurant today with my family I haft to say one of the best indian restaurants I have been to service was excellent very friendly staff the owner is also a very nice person you feel welcomed and comfy as soon as u enter. The starters were out in a timely fashion as was the main course. The food was absolutely delicious I will definetly be going back and would recommend anyone to visit jhas restaurant 10 out of 10 on everything a great place to eat.

Great service and food hat is fresh and not oliy,I have been to the restirant several times and each time the service has been quick and reliable, The food is hot and good value for mone.I have now recommended Jhas Restuarant to several of my friends and i am also using their catering service for husbands 40th birthday.I would reccommend the restuarant if you want to enjoy your meal with family or as a couple.H Padway

Have to say after reading all the reviews i was totally disappointed... the chicken was frozen and not fresh.. the starters where ok nothing to write home about.And dont even get me on that fact that they have the nerve to charge a service charge!!!!!!! The waitress was friendly enough... but i wont be going back... i would advise anyone to avoid at all cost......

We were staying in the area for work and found the great reviews of this restaurant. They are all true. Robby the owner is a real charmer, great host and gave us complimentary drinks at the end and as many Diwali sweets as we could possibly eat,The food was excellent-very authentic and not at all greasy. Everyone who came in whilst we were there was greeted by name which is always a good sign. The service was impeccable and a lot better than many top London restaurants, our waitress was lovely and we were greeted the moment we arrived.All in all a really lovely evening-the only downside is we don't live near enough to visit! If you are in the area for business this is a guaranteed superb supper (unlike a lot of the other, mainly chain, options in the area)

Been living in Bexleyheath for 5 years now and always go to Aligor for our curry fest - but decided on a change - searched the internet and feedback forums and stumbled acrossed Jhas - took a drive out on Saturday evening (27 Oct my husband's birthday) parked up and walked into a simple, understated, comfortable environment, great atmosphere - instantly felt welcomed (by the the charming young hostess) the food was gorgeous, served hot, tasty and well presented, we ordered our usual so we could compare: Lamb madras and Chicken Tikka Masala with all the added extras including keema nan and thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes, the meat was lean and tender - I have in the passed spent a fair bit of time chewing but not here at Jhas! compliments to the Lady Chef! The prices were very reasonable and the house wine went down well too! The staff were lovely and friendly. We have tried out a few asian restaurants - Akash, Maharajah in Bexley and Aligor - this is our new regular! worth the little drive and looking forward to our next visit. The Flettsx

Service was excellent! Prompt and polite. Food was tasty and authentic. I could not find one fault other than there was hist one male toilet which could be a problem but - don't the English love to queue??

If you want a good traditional home cooked curry then a visit to Jhas' is a must. Any Indian restaurant that has a lot of Indian/Asian customers is going to be good, and Jhas' certainly has those, as well as the regular locals.Food is always tasty and of good quality!

Being new to the area we wanted to try out the local restaurants and Jhas Tandoori did not disappoint! Really tasty food and great service! The place was empty when we arrived which did make us wonder but within 30 mins it was full and there was also a regular stream of people coming in for takeaways! We will definitely be visiting again and also trying out the takeaways! Definitely a place to try if you haven't already!

Top notch meal! the food was delicious and the services was fast. The kids and my family enjoyed the evening at Jhas.The owner is very hospitiable and friendly staff.A definate YES for a great eveing meal and night out.

If you want a good home cooked curry then go here, Robbie the owner will make sure that you are made to feel welcomed. The menu is simple with the normal food try the chilli chicken made panjabi style. The fish is amazing as well the staff are good. You willfind a lot of locals there and asians so trust the food.enjoy
