Jerk Cuisine in Croydon

I didn’t receive my order and there’s nobody answering the phone. Where is my order?? Hope I get a refund - very disappointed.

I am so disappointed as I visit for soup when my husband is ill. The women in the shop was rude. She had attitude and an aggressive tone when I asked what soup they had. She looked as though I was asking her to do me a big favour and screwed up her face, when I simply asked please no dumpling. I then said not to worry stress. She then said, " I rebuke u and send it back to sender, I hate when people say that." I the said to her I was not trying to offend her as she started raising and speaking to me with aggression again. This is not good customer service, and I can't understand why people bring their issues to work, their does, and dislikes.. we are paying for our food and not expecting it for free so the attitude is un called for.

Stole our money several times by giving us wrong portion sizes when we’ve ordered large and sent completely wrong items several times without issuing replacements or refunds. Ordered a large oxtail mean and was sent a small container packed with rice and peas and a measly portion of oxtail and hardly any gravy - whilst the other order again a “large” which was 2 spoons of ackee and saltfish, packed with rice and peas (we ordered with hard food, which is extra money). So essentially, £25 down the drain. Rang their customer number only for it to ring until they cut you off and then the few times I did get through they hung up straight away to avoid refunding us. Was doing my best to support a local business only to be stolen from time and time again. They have zero integrity and legitimately hate their customers. Scamming regular customers and refusing to do right by them is a crime. I can’t imagine running a business in such a careless manner and expecting good things in life to follow.

Stole my money and refuses to refund when giving the wrong order. They short change regular customers with small portions even when ordering a large. They don’t respect their customers at all

The service was very poor. The portion of cooked vegetables was very small for the cost. The soup was watery, and there was very limited mutton but quite a bit of bone and fat. The soup was very expensive. In fact, almost twice the cost of the carribean takeaway across the road. I only went because the other shop sold out.

Great food.....A tad expensive. Food tastes Exquisite!!! It's a regular place to buy.

The food is really nice. Aside from the smaller portions after lockdown. Jerk meat is oven cooked (go around the corner to tasty jerk for jerk chicken and pork) but their curries are amazing. Unfortunately they have a screw-face server (older Jamaican lady) who makes you feel like she's doing you a favour attending to you. She acts like she's giving the food away, not that you're paying for it. Most of the time, when I feel like going there, I decide to go for a Chinese or Indian takeaway nearer to my home. I can't be bothered with her attitude. I'm in Wallington, so it involves some effort to drive there.

Went to this shop earlier this week to place a take away order. Prices gone up to £10-£11.00 a large meal. They have changed from the standard plastic container to a slightly longer yellow polystyrene box. The woman in the back then barked through the servi hatch at my d "don't play with hair as she put her hand to her head". The woman supposed to be the server shouted " WHAT YOU WANT" I just looked 👀 at her❌ then she repeated slightly nicer. She was enough to put me off purchasing the meal as the service was not being request with any love or care. I gave her the order as followes: Jerk chicken x2 and a Jerk Pork meal and 2 x Cheesy beef patties. The portion size was not worth the money and standard of taste has gone down tremendously. Only the rice n pease had any flavour but the rice was hard like bullets. The jerk chicken was over cooked and hard and chewy and the jerk pork was the similar but all fatty pieces with hardly any meat. 😣❌The shop was very clean but empty no customers in the 15 minutes it took her to do the 3 meals. At one point we though she left the country as there was no communication in between she simply just disappeared. Obviously they have either changed owners and workers because up to a few months ago the server was not working there and the food used to be much better in taste even though the portion sizes were never generous from that shop was opened back in the early 2000's. I am done with West Indian shops this was one of the betters shops that I know had taste. Now it's over priced with ill mannered cooks and servers. Try it at your peril you will be left hungry 💯😤 It would have been better to take that £34.50 and cook both meals myself. Have food for a few more servings and no barking 👎🏽😤😤❌

Curry goat and oxtail delightful as always. Jerk pork was a bit dry and 'aged'

As someone who was born and raised in Jamaica I will say the food is edible and seems to be a hit and miss. I ordered soup and a meal. The pork meal was adequate decent flavours and it smelt good, the rice and peas was extremely bland and dry & the soup had no flavours or spices. I suppose if you are catering to European tastebuds then this would be acceptable unfortunately this let me down.

Ordered 2 chicken soups, don’t get me wrong they were nice but had no chicken at all only 2 potatoes. Which felt like I was having vegan soup.

The customer service here is ridiculous the light skin grandma that works there is so rude and has ZERO people skills im surprised people buy from this shop I’m amazed she hasn’t scared all the customers away it cost nothing to have manners and respect people that are spending there own money in your shop. I won’t be returning the food is mid at best so you would think they make up for it with a kind atmosphere but no. Honestly they lost a customer in me for sure. Horrible old lady no respect just big mouth and rubbish service.

Amazing portions , clean kitchen ,tasty food and the most polite staff if i could give 10* i would 😋 all round little gold mind shop in the heart of Thornton heath .

I ordered jerk and was send stew, the meat was greasy and had no flavour. The chicken wings tasted horrible and old. Do not waste your money.

Giving a 2 because the food was still adequately warm when I got home. I’m glad I ordered a large portion of jerk pork rice and peas, I hate to think how small a small would be judging by the size of the large. The pork had no chew or flavour, the rice and peas weren’t the best, and the sauce, well it wasn’t gravy. Honestly for the price nearly a tenner it was not worth it. I only went here because the other place was out of rice, and the others were rammed. Original tasty jerk is better. Go there instead

Authentic and absolutely delicious food 😋 yum yum... oxtail was not full of browning and excellent meat size and dropping of the bone but not overly soft... curry goat... soft and chewy and the right amount of seasoning and pepper ...balanced appropriately, coleslaw okay but could be better, steam vegetables needs work... stout drink delicious, pineapple drink needs work... but overall presentation was good and clean... well done... Thanks for an appetising meal!

All good with Jerk Chicken nowodays. A way better experience than before ! Better than all Jamaican restaurant around. Too bad they don't do Pratts.

The food here in general is good. I ordered the “Shredded Jerk Chicken Salad” expecting a fresh, crunchy salad with jerk chicken. What I got instead was a veryyyyy creamy “salad” that was more like a side dish. Reminded me of the Big Mac filling. Please change the recipe or add a photo because it was misleading. Also there was basically NO jerk chicken in there. Curry mutton and oxtail very nice. Also, I don’t understand why I can’t order plantain if it’s in the shop. Thanks.

Ordered via delivery, received within 30min. The food was all great, especially chicken soup!! I will definitely order again. Jerk Pork & Chicken were both flavourful as well.

I had Vegan Red pea soup and also the chicken soup, both had really good flavours and both well seasoned yummy

I have been to many shops and I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a member of staff. The food was average and the experience made much worse by a dismissive woman whom seemed appalled by my mere existence when requesting to order. Very disappointing.

The food is good but never order online from this shop. Multiple occasion I have requested not to add something to my order which have been ignored so many times. Only a few times my order has come as I asked.

They serve good Caribbean food here with a variety to choose from.

Food is nice but be prepared to wait about 30mins for food which is ready and available, been here 2days in a row and the Service is so slowww. I literally watched the lady serving me go back and forth into the kitchen at a snail pace and was dealing with an online order while dealing with my order even though I had placed my order first and would have taken her 5mins to put in the container and wrap if she just moved a bit quicker. At the same time there is no communication made with you as to why it is taking so long. Never again.

Great service! Amazing, delicious food! Loved the Oxtail, rice and peas, the Red Peas Soup, and the Cow Foot, rice and peas. The Guinness Punch was fantastic too! Recommend to all!!

I've just ordered food from this restraunt which is either a brand new establishment and or has new staff working there today! Not only did they send nothing correct from what I ordered! In addition to that when I called to query I was dealt with by a rude and dismissive lady who hanged up the phone and ignored and declined subsequent phone calls after ! Definitely a basic shop with basic customer service etiquette! Worst part of the whole thing is they're called "jerk chicken cuisine" and as such jerk chicken was apart of the order and they somehow managed to miss it off the list completely ! LOL! As well as me ordering a mutton soup they sent 2 chicken soups! Or what I can assume is one chicken soup and one mutton soup with no mutton or chicken! Terrible Everyone has their own opinion so if you've used before or still wish to then go ahead but maybe go in store so that they can understand the order!

I've been eating from this shop for years. The chef is lovely, the rest of the team are great too. The food is amazing especially the red peas soup. The shop is clean, reasonable prices and the always play fantastic music to top it off.

Food is quite nice and the portions I've recieved for combo meals have not been terrible HOWEVER, I did order a portion of ackee and saltfish for £2 and the size was a complete joke.

I went there last week, the good was OK, but the lady there is so rude it's like she didn't want to serve us she carry on washing her plates like am invisible. The portion for £8.50 a large meal is bad there is more rice than chicken, when we told her she started rolling her eye . Really bad service don't waste your time and money

NO STARS!! I've been going to this place for years as the food is good and I love good food, but the lady serving has made me decide to spend my money elsewhere. She is so rude, and extremely slow. You can't call up and order your food in advance you HAVE to stand there and watch her go from kitchen to shop and try and do everything herself. She's doing online orders so all walk-in customers will have to wait, sometimes that can be up to 20 minutes before she takes your order. Imagine waiting 20 minutes in the queue just to find out they don't have what you want. She also has a tendency to talk to customers and her colleagues like they're fools. You should probably fix your attitude as there are a number of other food shops a short walk away. Never Again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had curry goat and rice and peas. Both were extremely tasty. Have bought takeaways from here for a couple of years and the standard has always been high.

Ordered 2 portions of Steamed fish and got sent Brown Steamed Fish instead. They didnt contact me to update the order or anything just sent out the order which took about 45mins to arrive after ordering. So not only was I made to wait while the driver delivered other orders but I didn't even get what I paid for !!! When I called them they claimed they had 1 portion of steamed fish. But couldnt send me the portion I ordered... DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE / GO TO TASTY FLAVOURS OR SOMEWHERE WHERE THEY KNOW HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS! P.S- THE 2 PORTIONS OF BROWN STEW FISH WAS SMALLER THAN 1 PORTION FROM DELLYS !!! 3/4 was RICE !!!!

I should of read reviews before visiting this shop. Paid £7.50 for jerk chicken, rice & peas. Was given 3 thin slices of chicken with a load of hard rice. I called to talk to the manager, told they would call back but nothing.

I ordered ackee and saltfish from here on Uber Eats. I paid £7.50 and there were literally 4 forkfuls of ackee and the rest of the container was full of rice. When I called to complain they said it was a regular portion, and didnt show very good customer service. Never in my life have I been served such a small portion of ackee and salt fish. You get more in a dumpling from the local Caribbean bakery. I used to order from them a lot but won't be any more. Their food hygiene rating is low so they should be giving decent portions to keep their customers happy.

I should read the reviews first.... Went today £8.50 for ackee salt fish and rice and peas Went for a large box. The box they gave me was a small size,but they said that was a large size. 95 % of box was just rice and peas, only 2 spoons of ackee. Lady that serves food got attitude. Owner just find rubbish excuses. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET ROBBED.

Jerk Fish meal and Callalloo was good. Bun and cheese had the tiniest slice of cheese I ever saw. Paid £2.49 in Delivery and service fees plus £1.92 in restaurant and rider tip - one main meal missing and given wrong drink.

Best curry goat and oxtail in the area. I wouldn't say their jerk chicken/pork is anywhere near their opponents around the corner on White Horse Lane. But their dinners are much better.

Poor food service. Was delivered very small portions of food considering the price. Also the only thing I even enjoyed was the jerk pork.

Went into the shop asked for fried fish, i'm literally the only customer!!, women says wait a minute,..starts cleaning and sorting things out in the kitchen! 10 minutes later, still not said a word to me! Last time i step foot in this place, il take my hard earned money else where thank you!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY This shop used to be ok but now they're just money grabbing and not caring about the customers at all. I would give them a minus zero.. I went there and ordered a large ackee and salt fish with rice and peas, the price display showed £7.50 or £8 she told me its £8.50 I asked why pointing at the sign. She pointed to another hand written sign and said the price has gone up by 50p i said ok. She dished out my food put in in a bag and I walked to my car and when I took the food out of the bag I quickly realized that the container had a lot of room at the top and it was mostly rice and literally like 2 mouthfuls of the ackee and salt fish- I couldn't even see any fish. Because I hadn't drove off yet I went back to the shop and told them the container looks empty and this is practically rice. She told me that's the new portions, I told her I haven't opened your food I would like my refund because this shouldn't cost £8 its rice with a pinch of stew, she refused and said she wouldn't do a refund arrogantly. I told them ok well you've just lost a customer they did not seem bothered. It's a shame because that is not how you do business. After reading some of these reviews I'm seeing that they're doing that a lot. After I left I thought to myself you should have written on that hand written sign that the price has gone up and the portions have become smaller then I wouldn't have wasted my money. GO THERE IF YOU HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY

Best food l ever had in my life 😍😍 I am obsessed I could eat it everyday, its worth it.

I won’t be buying food from here again. Bought a regular oxtail and rice. There was no oxtail all grizzle! Disgusting! The thing is that I watched the lady carefully fish around for the meat and here was me thinking that she was searching for the best bits but she was actually searching for the fat. How people can look customers in their eye when they do this I do not know.

The food is good, but EVERY TIME I go I remember exactly why I told myself never to go back there. I regret saying this, and I'm not easily offended but the woman's stinking attitude is THE WORST I've ever experienced. Kissing her teeth while serving, huffing and puffing. Treating the customers like they're burdens by being in the shop. Customer service goes a long way, it's such a shame because I'd come back for the food again and again IF the service was on point. But right now I'd rather give McDonald's my money (and not enjoy my food) then go back there.

Waited in line. No one acknowledged me had to ask twice if anyone serving got told yes. But they carried on getting take away orders ready while leaving customers waiting in shop. In the end we all left. But Yahzoo at top of high street has much better service and food wicked. These people know nothing about customer service. Wont go back again. Dellys staff also helpful and polite

BANG OUT OF ORDER payed 8.00 ordered a oxtail and got 2 piece of meat the rest was rice that’s disgusting only come here if you don’t want to be appreciated as a customer she went to the back and did it because she knew we would complain Do not come here unless you would like to be robbed and unappreciated

I ordered my food online and although the quality of the food was lovely, I was very disappointed (again) that I had paid extra for a large meal, only to receive a regular. The inconsistencies are astounding. Not impressed.

Ordered two large £8.50 oxtails with rice and peas. Literally got home to open one portion with 3 small pieces of meat all gravy, the other 5 small pieces. Ordered a stewed chicken with hard food cost me another £8.50 and it was literally one broken up chicken thigh with gravy. Massive waste of money definitely go to dellys if your in heath. Wont be going here again.

I ordered the fried dumpling which was raw and undercooked inside when you squeeze it the dough oozes out.

Jerk chicken and pork was really delicious.

Food tastes good BUT I paid £8 for what was supposed to be a large jerk chicken rice n peas. I opened it up once home and put it on a plate to find the smallest amount of chicken which was very cheap and boney. So I basically ate a meal which consisted of rice and coleslaw. Very disappointed with this place.

I have ordered from this restaurant many times and I am shocked that you pay £8.50 for a large ackee and salt fish to get the following which I have attached before I did not even get a full serving spoon of ackee and saltfish if there wasn’t enough customer service is a must and let the customer you don’t have enough Plus when you call the restaurant the phones lines are engaged Very disappointed

Excellent pork and chicken prepared better by far than what I have eaten in Jamaica !!! However, I have yet visit Portland. This place is very good. Can get outrageously busy on Cryistal Palace match days.

Can it be any more delicious? Can it? Oh let me tell you my people who are reading this. It cannot get any more delicious than this that chicken was magical they had the whole variety of side dishes to go with it and many other dishes proper Caribbean cuisine that I love and enjoy eating. I am on a specific diet keto diet and this kind of food is really good for balance in my frequent and intense workouts at the gym and other sports activities that I attend that that's why I love this place so much so guys keep up the good work and those who haven't tried this please give it a go you will not regret it

The main woman that does the food,her name is Nicola golden. She was extremely rude,shouted at me and put down the phone. SHE took my money on uber...said she didn't have the food but could not cancel the order. I AM FLABBERGASTED AT HOW DISGUSTING SHE WAS TO ME. P.S I ASKED FOR HER NAME..SHE SAID NICOLA..(MOST PROBABLY LIES) NASTY CUSTOMER SERVICE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

The food taste good but the experience is DISGUSTING. I am upset with the service I received in there and the amount of meat I received in a meat soup. I walked in with a polite attitude and the woman who served me seemed like she didn't want to be there or assist me. I asked for mutton soup and barely received a whole piece of mutton I had only carrots and yam but paid 4.50 for a mutton soup. I hope this was a one off and this is not how they treat all their new customers who walk in there!!! Imagine if I was homeless and that was my last bit of money and that was the type of food I received. I would be outraged that I went to my own people's shop and was treated like that. We gotta do better man this is not on.

Warm, responsive service. Jerk chicken is morish and on delivery with potato wedges at lunchtime for just a fiver!

Friendly service. Well cooked tasty food. Fish was lovely.

Very nice food but so unprofessional as you get with a lot of people from that Island. The service is slow with sometimes 1 person serving up to 15 customers . I waited 45 minutes one time and you just get a blank look from the female staff. My low score is not for the food but the service If you have patience to wait for a while for your food then it.will be worth while as I can't fault the food.

This is a nice place and staff is friendly. I love the curry goat and rice.
