Wong Kei Chinese in Croydon

Twice my order was late by over an hour. The Just eat app said my food was delivered, but it wasn't. I phoned the restaurant. The man said the driver had just left. How was my food delivered then? It came 10 minutes later. 2nd time same thing happened. The guy said he'd speak to the driver. Had to keep phoning back. One time I was told he delivered it & maybe a house mate had it. Nobody knocked. I phoned back to say don't bother & he said the driver was 5 minutes away. He was but this was well over an hour later. Won't be using again.

Awful food. Tasted extremely stale and left a literal bad taste in my mouth. Also, the shop is very dirty and unhygienic. Avoid at all costs! I cannot stress this enough

Food made me very sick afterwards

Poor time management. Booked order to be delivered the next day by 3:00pm. Waited over 45mins before receiving order and had to cancel already booked appointment so as to wait for the delivery. Do not book with Wong Kei - Chinese Takeaway if you don’t have enough time to spare. Also the mixed seafood rice came with more vegetables than seafood

Ordered on Uber Eats and after waiting for 2 hours, order said Cancelled, called the restaurant and they said they have the food and it'll be 10 minutes, waited another 30 minutes called again and the restaurant said that driver just left and will be there in 5 to 10 mins, yet the food never came. Very disappointing as food used to be good and service used to be quick and reliable and now it's just horrific.

Made a Google account just so I can leave a review. I order from this takeaway often and honestly they are the best there is, the food is always perfect, service is beautiful, they really care. Currently my pregnancy craving and they always smash it every time. Thank you 🥹.

Order through just east called the shop as soon as order was accepted to let shop know that I’m allergic to pineapple. Food came hour later with pineapple called shop again and was told he would send me a new one. I called 3 times to check on where my order was as it was another hour waiting and rest of food was cold then to be told that drivers car/ home apprently got broke into to broke down? And I still have not heard a thing from them and no one is answering the phone!

I had the food the other day ended up with the worst food poisoning in my life

Ordered lunch for delivery, they kept me waiting for over an hour despite being a ten minute drive away, refused to pick up the phone, kept my money and changed the order status to completed. I am pursuing a refund via just eat instead and never ordering from here again.

Ordered at 7.30pm. After 2 phone calls food appeared at 9.55pm, minus some of the already paid-for order. Waiting to see what happens next - after another phone call. Pity. The food here is good - I’ve ordered often - but recently the service is totally unacceptable. Until they fix their management it will be better to go elsewhere.

They have improved since I personally addressed the cleainess of the waiting and dining area. They are friendly while professional.

First time ordering thru Deliveroo food came fast but pricey £20 for 2 udons. Noodles were really HOT as in warmed up but they were not FRESH. No flavour or spices, mushrooms were watery and odd tasting probs canned. Save your money people and pass on this!

Overall, the good is average. Felt the Singapore Rice noodle is bit oily and missing its authentic spices. Also, the salt and pepper squid is way to oily. Not the best chicken chow mien I had.

First went here a few years ago as I found the name quite funny, didn't expect it to be any good from the reviews however this has vast become one of my favourite Chinese take aways to have, very tasty. The reason I don't go here often is the location is a little too far so if I ever am in that direction I definitely do stop in and grab something. Normally its through delivery. Though sometimes I wish the delivery costs was a bit lower due to how much you spend here as it isn't the cheapest chinese, however I do not mind as its very tasty never had any issues from here at all

❗️❗️❗️❗️I do not recommend ❗️❗️❗️❗️ In Singapore rice noodles there was no seafood or any meat, just noodles - the first Chinese restaurant where I ate and I did not like it. I asked for "not spicy" and I got a very, very, very spicy anyway ❗️❗️ sweet and sour chicken hong kong style dish had no sauce ❗️❗️

Great little place, little untidy inside. Ordered a seafood chow men with udon noodles but this meal was spoilt due to being salty and not enough seafood. I like a meaty meal!!!!

Made to order, no questions asked about the peculiarity of the requirement.

I dont make reviews, but i HAD too, The food arrived freezing cold. The salt and pepper chicken was in a batter, it tasted more like egg. The pork in black bean sauce lacked favour. The worst chinese I have ever had, i threw it away !!!!!! So unacceptable ! I voted one star only because i HAD too for the basis of making this review

Absolute rubbish, food is disgusting

I've been ordering and eating Chinese takeaway across London for over 30 years. I can say, without question, that was by far the worst Chinese meal I've ever had. All of the food was terrible. Greasy, syrupy, rubbery. No thank you.

So bad. Ordered tofu sweet and sour. Raw onions and dried out tofu in syrup. My husband's chicken skewers tasted horrendous. It was quick though.

Food is currently 30 minutes late and counting. No one even has the courtesy to answer the phone

On the two occasions I have ordered mushroom fried rice and pork fried rice. I noticed the rice tasted quite stale and old. However they do a nice king prawn curry and king prawn fried rice.

Beef and onions was really oily, fried rice only had half a portion and sweet and sour pork wasn’t very nice! I wouldn’t purchase from here again!

Dont bother this takeaway a joke cold food under cooked driver rude after being hour and half late and then I went and see the Takeaway shop its self OMG so dirty

Had the chicken balls and me and mum started to get stomach pains after a few hours. Usually get the prawn balls and doesn't happen.

This was my go to Chinese takeaway, they changed management and I wasn’t sure Whether to eat from here as I was always dealing with the woman and never had any issues with my food or the order. When I saw a different face in wong Kei Thorthon Heath I gave it a try and the food was nice. HOWEVER.. last night i ordered from Wong kei, the man at the front said they changed management again! I had a look at the back, none of the men was wearing hair nets whilst cooking. That was a red flag for me to walk away but I didn’t ( My fault) I ate the food, it was lovely, but woke up this morning and I have pains in my stomach and feel sick. FOOD POISONING!! I will never eat from here again, this place has gone down hill since the woman at the front left. They keep changing owners!

My favourite chinese, right after its namesake in Chinatown. Very authentic Cantonese food, similar to what you'll get in Jamaica. Strong flavours for both spicy and sweet dishes not bland at all. Update: 26 July 2018 Restaurant is now under new management, all staff seem to have changed including the chef. My first and only meal was okay, but nowhere near the calibre of previous meals. Will try again soon. Update: September 25 2018 They're back! I've taken the chance and have stuck with Wong Kei. It's still different but has come back to the level it was. Strong Asian flavours and very well prepared. Update: April 2019 - new ownership. Not bad but not great either. Pretty bland in comparison to the original Wong Kei.

Has this place also changed hands after their refurbishment?? Won’t be ordering from here again!!! Greasy & just awful. The pork balls completely covered in thick uncooked dough, ribs had no taste, sweet & sour sauce definitely watered down and barely the usual taste you’d expect. Rice was lovely & spring rolls ok but again v v greasy. Next !!!!

One of the worst take aways I have ever dealt with. Over two hours wait for the delivery. I was told over the phone it’s 40 mins, but it’s been over two hours now. Nobody bothered to call us and tell us it will be a delay with the delivery, but when I called to ask if I am ever getting the food the person over the phone said “10 minutes sorry were busy” it’s been 30 mins since that phone call. Do not order from Them when you’re hungry. Just cook yourself!

So disappointing...the order was wrong...it looked awful...smelt like rotten food and it looked like it was tampered with... will never order from there again , after many years of enjoyment....order at your peril

Loving the sweet and sour chicken!

Sorry but I don't understand how this place has recieved so many good reviews. My experience was they didn't add chilli when requested and the food was so disgustingly sweet I had to throw it away. Shame after such promising reviews. I definitely will not be returning with so many far better alternatives close by.
