Greatest coffee shop in the world

Unsurprisingly, this Oxford UK based coffee roaster makes great coffee! Jericho Coffee Traders has three locations currently in the studious city, and this is my favourite. It's very cozy and intimate! I appreciate the friendly service, and branded cups (loooove the kitschiness of a branded cup). There are also a few gluten free and vegan treats available (but sadly, as of this writing this post, none that are both). Go grab a cup of coffee!

I popped in to grab an iced latte and the woman making my coffee was COMPLETELY absorbed in talking to her fellow worker. She spoke in a tired/not at all interested manner and just plonked down my takeaway coffee on the side, without even bothering to make conversation. Very very poor behaviour when it comes to treating customers. I wasn't even directed to where the lids/straws were kept and felt like I had wasted my time + money to visit.

Especially love the décor, which was complete with Saxon figurines that those that we sat with apparently had on their mantlepiece and questioned whether they were for sale (they were not for sale). We'd visited a few years ago and enjoyed it - thought we'd give it another go. Spotlessly clean, welcoming staff and just busy enough to be comfortable. Sadly, despite offering all sorts of alternative milk options - oat, almond etc, there is only full-fat (blue top) normal milk, which neither me or my husband drink, we prefer skimmed but are happy to drink semi. I understand not needing all 3 types - but why not have semi-skimmed which I am sure would meet us all in the middle. So having looked forward to a flat white, I had an Americano, which was lovely but.......

Very nice coffee. Very suboptimal service. They prefer to serve big orders from nearby conferences and meetings that are dialled in. Yesterday for example were told it was a 20 to 30 minute wait. (Saturday lunch) to make a flat white. Because someone had ordered 50 odd cups for a nearby conference. Rude staff. So whilst we were digesting that weird news - at least 5 groups were turned away and not served. So weird and no apology. Why take a massive order and turn away the regular customers who actually bothered to walk to you. Any way great news. We found Colombia Coffee in the covered market. Lovely people. And better coffee. Wish we had found that 5 years ago. Bye bye Jericho. Maybe invest in a customer service training course

Haven’t been there in a while but it used to be my go-to coffee place when I lived close to high street. The baristas always greet you with a big smile on their face and are genuinely kind and friendly. Their coffee is sublime - hands down best coffee you can get in Oxford. Atmosphere is cute and cozy in the winter whereas in the summer they put out tables outside so you can sip your coffee with a beautiful view of some of Oxford’s most fetching sights. Note: indoor seating is limited and the place is quite popular among students so probably a good idea to come in off-peak hours if you want to work on your laptop or sit down with a friend. Unfortunately I haven’t visited in 2021 so not sure how well they’ve adjusted to the social distancing regulations but there seems to be plenty of outdoor seating and anyway their coffee is just as good when you get takeaway 😊 Special compliments for all of their baked goods, their salted caramel brownie has a special place in my heart ❤️

My pet hate with coffee shops is getting a different cappuccino every day, depending on who you get served by. The coffee shop i previously frequented was 10/10 one day and 3/10 the next. What i really like about JCT is that the variable is 8-10/10. They measure things out and show real care in preparing your drink. As someone who only drinks 1-2 cups a day, it's important that i enjoy my caffeine fix. Since JCT provide coffee beans to other coffee shops, you'd expect their coffee to be great and it is. I'd also note that they have the most impressive (and expensive) coffee machine i've ever seen. I note a few people fuming about poor service on the reviews. Tellingly a couple of these mention it is on a Sunday. JCT have two shops in Oxford - one on the High Street near the Covered Market and one hidden a short walk away from the train station down Ferry-Hinksey road on an industrial estate. The latter do not open on Sunday and my experience is that the difference in service is hugely disparate between the two. I often visit the city centre one and my experience of service i would characterise as "chaotic" rather than terrible, but i have seen that several times. As for the other store, the service is exceptional every single time 10/10 The punchline (from a coffee snob) is that the coffee is great!!

After moving to Oxford in January, we have been coming here a couple of times a week. On Sunday I popped in to the high street store and encountered the worst customer service I have ever received. I was quite taken a back by it. The lady was very aggressive, and ill mannered, and sadly we will not be returning. A morning coffee is a ritual I really enjoy, I do not expect to be barked at by the barista, and then greeted with a very sarcastic 'Thank you' when being passed my take away drink after expressing my surprise at her tone! It's a shame as the gentlemen that work here are always charming - but we will not be returning, as I don't want my coffee spoilt again by someone with an attitude problem.

Have previously had good service and coffee from the café on Osney Mead estate. Today, the lady serving us seemed out of sorts, she over charged me, and when I queried it by looking at the prices displayed, she stated her till told her different. This may be the case but not really my problem. She did slam down the correct change and remained passive aggressive throughout the exchange. Please sort out your till/price list conflict. Whilst I wish to support local trade, I don't want to spend money where basic polite interaction is missing.

Started out well as the baristas were really friendly and upbeat, was lovely chatting to them. The issue comes from lack of attention to dietary requirements. I made it abundantly clear that I am vegan - asking about vegan milk options, vegan cakes - and I ordered two coffees with oat milk, having specified the oat part three times. My coffee came out tasting like cow's milk. When I went back to ask if it definitely is oat the response I got was "I don't know, it might not be". I was made a new coffe where the milk was curdled, hardly an improvement. The baristas remained friendly and apologised but it didn't do much to improve the impression. I've always had a low lactose tolerance and being vegan for a few years decreased it even further. Taking just two sips of cow's milk made me feel horrendously sick with stomach cramps for the rest of the day.
